Definitely family friendly! We came here with family of 6 to include a 1 and 4 yo and had plenty of seating inside as well as outside the restaurant. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We came on New Year's Day and wasn't too busy. This is a fairly new establishment in a new area of Bluffton next to Publix market. Plenty of outside parking as well which was nice. Review itself: 4 stars based on limited menu options. Brew was good and ordered the Takeaway IPA and had a sample of the Sessions IPA (which is lighter and more citrusy). they have a limited menu with mostly pub grub-appetizers and sandwiches. I spoke to the server and they are trying to "expand their kitchen" to offer more choices. He informed me they let their original chef go since many complaints but have a new chef who is really good, I agree. Tried mainly appetizers to include the Buffalo dip, sausage kabobs, Nachos. Also ordered the beef brisket sandwich. Our favorite was the beef brisket sandwich and the buffalo dip. Ambience and decor was relaxing and more of a family pub feel. I would recommend a visit if you are in the area. This is a new establishment in a new building. They have a nice full size bar inside and a large patio outside for relaxing. We sampled several beers including a very hoppy IPA which we enjoyed. The beer menu appears to be pretty set with not much change or variety. We had a tasty antipasto app but the food menu is limited. The staff was great and very friendly. Will be back. read more

Great place for local brewed beer. I was thrilled to taste the sample beers they offer. The server has great suggestions and knows the beer really well. This can help you decide on which beer you would like. They make the beer so they have something new and exciting every time I go. I would suggest starting with one of the great appetizers. My favorite food here are the burgers. All the food is really good. The portions are great. Don't forget to fill up on your favorite beer with the Growler that you get to take home and refill once your done! This place is meat a bowling alley, perfect for an eventful evening. Very disappointed experience at your restaurant today! Your manager Joseph was rude as hell. Our food (which was fries) was brought to another table and nobody told us that while we waited for almost 30 minutes. Fries take a few minutes to cook and we had to keep asking what happened with our food. We told the MOD Joseph that if there if there was anything they can do for this (compensation) and he said that this is normal to wait this long and no they will not! Not even an apology! What kind of manager says this when it was clearly their fault? Sorry your restaurant has gone downward like this but we will NEVER be back again!!! read more

We waited a log time a server to come outside and greet and take out order. We then waited approx 40 minutes for tacos and when we kept asking why it took so long we were told it was only taking -6 minutes! A Mgr came out and was extremely rude, disrespectful, argumentative and said this isn't Taco Bell our kitchen line is the size of the table and for 18 tacos what do you expect and if you don't want to stay you can leave! The approach and delivery of her message was mind blowing! When the GM came out hodge we was negative and upset that we would curse at his Mgr! We absolutely did not and he took the apps of the check however, the food and service lacking is one thing having the Mgr talk to us like we were beneath her was outrageous! Unbelievable experience! Beer isn't all that great. The food is not all that great. Pimento burger is okay but I really don't see what people are raving about. It's an 8 ounce patty. Fine. I had to go hunting for ketchup to make it tasty. Nothing extraordinary about it. I like their Cole slaw. Very good. My wife had a pulled pork salad. You could count the black beans and corn kernels on your fingers. There was hardly any pork. And that was cold and not too tasty. Mostly a handful of bagged romaine tossed on a plate. The manager Hodge was very good to us and plays a good roll as a leader, the service staff is fun, polite and seem quite happy to be there. Our recent visit here was very disappointing and unfortunately, we will not be going back. My children go to the dentist across the way so we are always excited to go to southern barrel right after. The last few times, though, the menu has gotten progressively smaller and the prices higher and higher. We were still going back, despite this, because the food is good (that's why they got 2 stars instead of 1) but that's just not enough anymore. They no longer have the tacos we usually get (which honestly were getting worse every time so I guess I see why they got rid of them lol the "grilled chicken" was definitely boiled chicken last time) and they only had one item on the kids menu. I get it's a brewery, but when we first started going they had like 6 items on the kids menu and they were reasonably priced. Today, they only had tenders, it came with 10 fries and 2 tenders and cost about $15 after taxes (only guessing this off our final tab because it was not listed on the menu). My husband and I each got 2 beers a piece and we split 2 appetizers. So 2 appetizers, 4 beers and a kid meal cost almost $100! After tip, it was just a lot to spend on lunch. I understand everyone's having a hard time after the pandemic and now inflation, but driving off any hope of having repeat customers doesn't seem like the best way to go about dealing with the issues. We just can't afford it and with the dwindling food choices, it's not worth it anymore. We arrived and no one was seating people. It's a first come first serve situation. But when you're a restaurant and brewing company, that's not cool. We had 12 people and they wouldn't take reservations. So we split up and one group got served while the others waited an hour just to get their food ordered. My husband and I tried this place today for the first time. It's a beautiful place with a relaxed atmosphere. Great music and T.V.'s. My husband ordered a flight and he liked all four, his favorite being a dark stout. We had a really great server named Jake. He was extremely friendly and had a great sense of humor! I would have gave it 5 Stars, but the menu needs some help. We didn't order anything. It's mostly gourmet sandwiches and the sides are things like chex-mix and potato chips. We were very excited to try Southern Barrel but we were disappointed. There is no menu to speak of (panini sandwiches and salads are about it) and the beer was sub-par. We are from Cincinnati which has a thriving craft beer community and out of the 8 we tried here (2 flights of 4) we didn't enjoy a single one. They were out of the first ones we selected which we were not told about until after we ordered them and the staff had to come back and tell us they didn't have our selections. The staff was friendly and the restaurant itself was nice to look at but unless they expand their menu (maybe get a full kitchen with a grill rather than rely on a panini press) we will not be back. We certainly won't be back for the beer-not at all impressed with their brews. read more

We decided on this restaurant because a popular seafood restaurant on island was a 2 1/2 hour wait... On arrival our waitress greeted us and was very friendly and energetic. which continued throughout the meal. My fellow dinner guests had a variety of IPA's and were very happy with their choices. The nachos with chicken was a pleasant surprise with BBQ sauce. Delicious. Manager or Owner welcomed us part way through the meal and was very thankful for our business. Great outdoor patio area, dog friendly. They rolled the TV out to patio for viewing of the NBA Playoffs. Dinners consisted of the brisket sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, grilled pimento cheese sandwich and my caesar salad with smoked turkey. All were delicious and generous in portions. Our family of 3 dropped by for an appetizer and beer tasting. The atmosphere here is wonderful, the concept is great, and we really loved the decor! We had the buffalo chicken dip-it came out quickly and tasted amazing. My husband sampled many beers and enjoyed them all. We felt the prices were appropriate and I would have given it 5 stars, however, seating is first come first serve. This created an issue for us as the restaurant was full when we arrived and the waiting area is set up out of site of the dining area. This made it extremely difficult to locate a table, especially with having an infant in tow. As the restaurant becomes more popular they could definitely benefit from having a hostess to help manage seating. Regardless, don't let this deter you from visiting such a great place. Four of us went for dinner and were pleasantly surprised. The hamburgers were fantastic, I loved the juiciness and the toppings like beer cheese and veggies. As a beer judge I appreciate a good beer, and the Kolsch was true to style, refreshing and tasty. Service was good and the atmosphere is fun. The menu was pretty creative and I would love to come back and try what looks like their Neapolitan style pizzas. This is not a place you go to as a "foodie" even though everyone liked what they ordered. It's brewery/pub food and it's done well. The beer is excellent and they have a great selection. Great spot to enjoy a beer and a bite to eat in the beer garden or in the cooler inside. The bar is decorated with old barn wood and you can see almost the entire process from your seat!! A wrong turn on the road made me discover this gem. I love Breweries and this one definitely has really good beers. It's a new brewery, opened by a guy from Philadelphia in May 2015. They don't do the brewery tours yet but the staff is really nice and if you ask for a tour, they are happy to do so. I loved our server, he showed me and my friend the brewery and answered all my questions. He even gave me free stickers, I love stickers from different breweries. I ordered the Flight and got to taste five different beers. My favorite was their Double IPA and small batch- Red IPA. They experiment and come up new beers every now and then and call them "Small Batch". Their Milk Stout is great as well. They had an offer on their Pumpkin Ale- $5 for a six pack. I usually don't like pumpkin ales because they have a really strong pumpkin taste but this one had the perfect amount of flavor in it. Try it with cinnamon and sugar on the rim, it's delicious. None of their beers disappointed me. They also serve food but I didn't get any since I was full. The food prices were reasonable, a sandwich with a side was around $9-$11. The pint glasses are $3 each, growlers are $6 and growler fills range from $12-$18 depending on the beer you get. I plan to go back again to this place. It was cold outside so I wasn't able to enjoy the patio but I plan to visit again when it gets warmer. read more
