Wow what great bbq for a great price. The family meal can easily feed 8 if you add the rack of ribs for a total of $130. The quality is fantastic, fall of the bone ribs and the brisket just pulls apart. It is some of the most tender brisket I have ever had. The bbq sauce is well balanced. I didn't love the other sauces we tried and the fried chicken was average. Everything else was superb. We fed 6 and did not touch two of the sides containers. The restaurant itself looks like a fun hang out. The garage bar is a cool design and looks great for drinks. Special shout out to the servers who helped us out. We are from Los Angeles and when we ordered through our toast account, it updated the time to Pacific. Thankfully they fired it right when I arrived and got me the meal with 30 min. We heard about this place by word of mouth, decided to give it a try. We arrived around 9p on a Sunday. Seemed typically busy. A good sign. We were greeted outside by two ladies and promptly taken to our seats. Our waiter, Decker, (like the double bus.. lol) immediately introduced himself and welcomed us in, as it is our first visit. We had an amazing evening at One Hot Mama's. Even though the place was notably busy, we only waited for about 15-20 minutes to get our table ready. Not too bad. We immediately got seated and our waitress took our orders right away. We were a party of 11 and we all ordered different things. However, me and my partner decided to share a platter and it was the best decision. It came with pulled pork, bbq chicken and brisket. We also added mashed potatoes (which were absolutely amazing) and baked beans. The brisket was incredibly good and juicy, pulled pork was delicious but I wasn't a huge fan of the chicken. One hot mama smells amazing when you walk in! There are tons of seating inside and a beautiful outdoor patio with live music. I had the cocktail Bahama Mama. It was strong and not weak like the other places in the area & comes out very fast. The server (Tiana) was very good. The baby back ribs had amazing flavor and they literally fell off the bone. The barbecue beans were probably the best I've ever had. The brisket was good. My husband thought it should be seasoned more, but I thought it was fine and the cornbread was also good. I've dined in once many years ago and enjoyed the experience. However, this time was a different story. I ordered carry out. When I went to pick up, two hostesses were standing at the stand. I said hello and told one I had a carry out, and she didn't speak and just gestured her head at the other then began applying makeup. It was an odd greeting (or lack of). I got the South in Your Mouth salad. For an $18+ salad, it was extremely skimpy. It was the size of a side salad, not an entree salad, with a small portion of pork placed in a small container on the side. The "bbq ranch" is literally just a side of ranch with a squirt of bbq sauce on top. Another ordered a bbq platter with two sides. The meat was good, but the sides were also very skimpy portions and the collard greens had an odd sweet taste. The container the meat was in was a huge aluminum tray that was flimsy, difficult to carry, and completely unnecessary for the amount of meat in it. On the plus side, the burnt ends chili was delicious. Overall, it's good, not great or memorable, but with the portions and service, not worth the price. I'd try another bbq first. read more

One hot mamas is a family friendly bbq place just outside the Sea Pines gate. The outside bar area had games for kids and adults and the inside was exactly what you'd expect from a bbq restaurant. It has an extensive menu of all kinds of bbq meats. Everything our party ordered was delicious! FYI- if you are vegan or don't eat meat, there aren't a lot of options to get protein, but the sides menu was very good and had plentiful portions. If you like fried okra, get an order. It's part sports bar where people are tipping back a few cold ones and screaming Roll Tide! The four of us made our way to the restaurant and were seated at a small table. We're given menus and are leaning towards the family platter with additional side of ribs. The waiter is pushing the chicken wings. I'm seeing the award winning wings but they have a hot symbol. The sister? Are saying oh no to my choice so I choose "The Italian Stallion" and the ladies chose the Maui Wowwi. I ordered a side of Blue Cheese and let me tell you, I dipped everything in Blue Cheese! Ribs? Dunked them Chicken? Dunker Wings? Blue Cheese bath The sides were also amazing. We chose: Mac & Cheese Collared Greens Baked Beans Cole Slaw We also ordered corn bread and they gave us pickles. The best part? All sides have free refills! Meaning, we knocked out the baked beans and they brought more. When all the food did come? There wasn't enough room for all the dishes so we asked the waiter to move us to a larger table. Once we had the room on the table, this was a lot of food. It was so much we brought it back to our hotel and had it the next day for dinner. We tried One Hot Mama's BBQ for takeout and overall had a really great experience. Two of us ordered the barbecue chicken salad, which comes in a taco shell bowl. The shell was actually the surprise standout -- fluffy, light, and crisp with great flavor. It's nothing like those typical taco salad shells that tend to be greasy or overly hard. This one tasted fresh and really elevated the whole salad. The brisket burnt ends chili was also excellent. It has a tomato-based chili flavor, so if that's your style of chili, this is definitely the one to order. It came with these cute little hard cornbread pieces that soften nicely once they sit in the chili. The chili also includes red kidney beans and had really great depth of flavor. My sister loved the barbecue ribs and french fries, which were a big hit. The smoked turkey was good as well, though it seemed to have a seasoning on it that was a little unexpected. I'm usually not a fan of mustard-based barbecue sauces, but this one was surprisingly tasty with a nice vinegary kick. The traditional barbecue sauce wasn't quite my favorite. We had a recommendation to try this place out for their ribs. We live in Charlotte... so there's plenty of BBQ places to compare to. I got the 3 combo: ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. ($32) The ribs were pretty good. The sauce was just ok. Everyone knows it's not just the meat... but the sauce that makes BBQ. They carry all 3 kinds: tomato-based that's served heated, mustard-based, and vinegar-based. They were all just ok. However, it was nice to have one heated. The pulled pork was moist, had some flavor, and decent also. The brisket was thick but just ok. Not alot of flavor at all. The meal came with 2 sides. I selected the mashed potatoes with gravy and cornbread & sausage dressing. The mashed potatoes were very good. I couldn't taste the sausage in the dressing... it was ok. My husband got the pulled pork and chicken. The chicken was fantastic ! Honestly, I'd get just the chicken next time. It was seasoned perfectly. He got the mac & cheese and baked beans. Both were fine. Oddly, all sides are served in tiny paper trays. The meat is served on top of a paper towel sitting on top of a metal tray. I didn't like this because the moisture causes the toweling to tear and you end up eating paper in your meat. There was also a piece of cornbread which is light, fluffy and sweet. It reminded me of eating a piece of cake. They give you a huge quantity of meat, so I took alot home. Our waiter was nice and the atmosphere was very cool. The food was honestly kinda meh, I got the bbq chicken the other two in my party got bbq sandwiches, and we all split the nachos. It was all just kinda meh, especially for the price. Back to the service, our waitress did take 15 minutes to come and greet us and took 20 minutes to give us change back from our check. Our last night in Hilton Head and some really good bbq was the goal. We found it at One Hot Mamma's. We got to where we thought the restaurant was - saw signs, but no restaurant. Asked around and found out it was next door (it's near an office park area). The poor signage was going to drop my rating to 4 stars until I found out they had just moved 3 days ago after 17 years at the other location. And the move occurred in a freak snow/ice storm in the area. We were greeted by the owner and seated in a booth where my husband could watch football ( the playoffs). The interior was really nice & bright. Colored lights on the ceiling, comfortable booths & lots of tvs. You have to go outside to get to the building with the bathrooms. In New England where we are from, that would be a hardship. However on Hilton Head, where it usually hs warm (except the we we visited), it perfectly fine. Everyone working there was so nice & welcoming. The food was amazing. I had the smoked fried chicken. Easily enough food for 2. Not very smoky, meat tender and breading so good & not greasy. My husband had the brisket plate which he said was good. I had the strawberry margarita - spicy. Very good until the last quarter. Then even too spicy for me! Sadly, no room for dessert (the pecan pie looked so good). If we were locals, I think I'd be back here on a monthly basis!! read more

We did a large to go order as well which the server did forget our sriracha sauce. I was puzzled since the to go bbq didn't come with bread for the pulled pork.
