First visit takeaways... 1. The staff was prompt, friendly and welcoming upon entry 2. They were experiencing a shortage in kitchen staff which caused a delay in seating (~30 mins). I would have preferred to sit , maybe order drinks, and chat with people in my party vs stand and wait at the door. I think there were some missed revenue opportunities because of that. And the optics of a room full of empty tables while ppl are waiting to be seated just isn't pleasant. 3. After being seated, the waitresses were READY. Orders were taken, waters were served. Things went smoothly from that point. 4. The food was tasty. Good seasoning and flavor on the wings (but they were a little small). The omelet was good . This is not the place to order oatmeal. Everything else, including the cocktails, was good. 5. Overall, I would definitely go back. It was a nice atmosphere and the people working were friendly and focused. Everyone was doing A LOT and all while smiling.

Decided to give this place a try in a Saturday morning at 10am! At this time it was busy at all so there was no wait and our party of 4 was immediately seated. Our waiter Rico started off very Nice! He did a lot of talking trying to be cool but it kinda came off aggressive. Any way. He seemed to be servicing the entire left side of the restaurant which at the time was very busy but did become busy. We started off with beignets. He asked had i ever been to Nee Orleans and Cafe Dumond i guess to compare them to it but there were nothing like that. Yes, they were good and warm but to me it tasted more like a croissant than a beignet. We also ordered passion fruit mimosas which were just ok. They poured some syrup in the bottom of the glass and the champagne on top. The syrup just sat at the bottom and needed to be served. Rico made the drinks - I'm sure he is t a bartender. It would be better to pour the champagne than the syrup on top. Any way, we ordered our meals. I ordered the catfish meal that was on the brunch menu with macaroni and cheese and fried okra. The kids breakfast came with one pancake, eggs, and a piece of sausage. The pancake was just a big as the adult size pancake. No complaints tho. My catfish was delicious as well as the okra. The macaroni was somewhat oily but had a good taste. I would def come back to give this place another try!

Let me start by saying thank you to the host and server. They were super friendly and were able to answer all our questions. The restaurant was clean and there seemed to be a steady stream of customers entering. The prices weren't outrageous but the portions were adequate. An added bonus is that they have a bar with a good variety of cocktail options. I only give a 4 because of our seating arrangement. I don't like sitting really close to other diners and we weren't asked about our table or booth preference.

Very great customer service our waiter (Talon) was extremely helpful and I was impressed with his knowledge of the menu. The food was very good nicely seasoned and fresh. I had French toast and let me tell you, they were lightly covered which made them lite. The egg whites were on point and the coffee (Maxwell House) was very smooth. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience this morning and will be visiting again.

    Don't waste your time

Unfortunately my experience wasn't positive I'm reviewing and trying brunch different places in the surrounding areas and looking up this location it seems on point however we arrive and it was the exact opposite service and wait was unreal with only 3 small tables seated and 1 couple at the bar staff nonchalant staff could careless about our experience will not be returning. Ambiance was the best either clean up.

Food Service and Atmosphere went well. Served hot and portions were as required. Will return!!!

    The bar

Black owned business with good food. Service was slow but, the quality of the food was worth the wait. They also have a full bar.

Good breakfast. Got the chicken and waffles cause they advertised wings vs tender and they delivered. Food was still hot by the time I got home. The place looks really nice and the staff was extremely attentive.

Perfect Fried catfish and grits along with a delicious Strawberry Mimosa. Can't wait to try the hibachi on my next visit.

The hostess seated my wife & I and our server Carter did N excellent job for us. The restaurant is large and well spaced out. It is also clean and the ambiance is a home type feel. We started with the Fried pickles cooked in fresh oil and came out hot. The country dip is good. Basically roast beef cut up and provolone melted cheese on top within a roll plus an au jou dipping sauce. It's chunkier than a normal French dip but it is good. Flavor wise, it was average and could have been seasoned a bit more. The beef is barely above the bland side as far as pot roast beef is concerned. However, combined together the components elevate the sandwich. It's worth the try to see if one would like it. French fries were good and freshly lightly salted. Cole slaw was basic. Not too creamy but also not sweet. My wife got the fettuccini Alfredo with grilled chicken. It was good and you will notice the grilled flavoring on the chicken. For me, the food could have benefited from a bit more seasoning but that is subjective. The meals were well worth the cost and Pop's deserves to be on anyone's go to eateries if you want good comfort dining.

They let me sample the Smoked Catfish Dip, which is served cold. It was delicious, so I had that for my appetizer. It's a huge portion and would be more than enough for 2-3 people to share. It comes with tortilla chips and they recommend trying it with the green Tabasco sauce. That adds a little heat to it. For my beer, I had a Memphis Made Fireside Amber Ale, which paired well with the both the appetizer and my entree. My entree was the Blackened Catfish with White Beans and Hushpuppies. I also tried their Homemade Tartar Sauce and Remoulade. Everything was excellent. I noticed they do quite a bit of carry out, to go orders. It looked like their to go orders outnumbered the actual restaurant patrons inside. They had a few waitresses constantly prepping carry out bags, filling sauces, etc...almost assembly line style, just to keep up. My dinner with tip was $50 plus.

As soon as you're seated, you'll have a tempting signboard presented at your table with every southern classic you can imagine. With entrees like fried chicken and catfish, endless sides like turnip greens, white beans, and just about anything you can imagine fried, and every kind of southern pie, it's all there. The catfish is magnificent, with that wonderfully gritty cornmeal batter surrounding flaky, tender fish. The complimentary roll is also delicious! And the servers are very nice here! But there are some downsides. The fried okra, my favorite southern side dish, is actually soft and soggy. No self respecting southerner would ever make soggy fried okra. It's about the worst I ever had. And the onion rings, which are hard to mess up, were burnt black and lacked flavor. They were inedible. The cashier is rude and doesn't have time for "thank you" or small talk or a smile or even giving you your receipt when nobody else is in line to pay their bill. That's just how it is. If you want good catfish, Sling Shot Charlie's will come through. But if you want a southern culinary experience that's enjoyable, there are much better places to have it!
