This is my second five star review for him, and how many times do you ever give anyone two five star reviews, right? That tells you everything you need to know about A-Advantage Plumbing. We have unfortunately been having some irksome plumbing issues in our house this year, and that's no fun! We had a clogged toilet in one bathroom at the same time that the toilet in the second bathroom needed a new fill valve, so we had to keep turning it on and off. After that, we had a massive kitchen sink clog from hell during massive summer heat. Most recently, the flapper chain and handle on one of our toilets broke right after the completion of a pee. The bad news on every occasion was that Bill wasn't currently available, and so my brother kept nagging at me to just hire any old plumber, but I insisted every time on waiting for Bill because who wants to risk being overcharged by a plumber you don't know or trust? We put up with the kitchen sink issue, the toilet that was constantly running, and even the broken toilet with the hideous stench of rancid urine until Bill became available, and I'm so glad that we waited because Bill only charged us $200 for the fill valve replacement and there was no charge at all for clearing the clogged toilet in the other bathroom. It would've easily cost us $300 total with any other run-of-the-mill plumber. The price to clear the clog from hell in the kitchen sink was only $500, and he only charged us $164 total to resolve the broken toilet handle/flapper chain issue. Moral of the story? Take advantage of A-Advantage and hire them whenever you can, even if you have to wait, because Bill is well worth waiting for! Bill's wife Karen is a gem too and she works wonders juggling Bill's very busy schedule.

We set up a time for him to come out, and he was there when he said he would be. Punctuality might seem like a small thing, but I really appreciate people who respect your time. There was no waiting around or wondering where he was. Frank ended up doing some electrical work for me, and I couldn't have been happier with how he handled it. He was professional, friendly, tidy, and--probably most importantly--he listened. I had some specific ideas about how I wanted things done, and rather than trying to talk me into doing it his way, he was accommodating and worked with me to get it done the way I wanted. We were looking for a diagnosis and an estimate for repair or replacement. Derek said we had an old unit and the compressor windings were broken. He agreed to send us an estimate. After Derek left, I noticed my thermostat was off, which meant the whole unit was off. My husband reached out to Derek and was told he had turned everything off before leaving. We weren't advised of this before Derek left, had not agreed to any work or set up a return date, and were left in the 100+ degree heat. The off/on switch is on the unit, which is on the roof. There was no offer to come turn the unit back on. Note the unit was working when temps are below 95 degrees. I would have liked to have had a choice in whether he was turning the entire unit off and leaving us with no AC. The estimate was $5000 to replace the compressor or $13,000 for a new unit. Needless to say I had to call someone else out to turn the unit back on. At that time, I was told the we ultimately needed a new unit, as we have an old unit and when the compressor gets too hot, it turns off. Makes sense. In looking at whole sale new units they run about $4000.

The technician was very friendly and courteous but, and it's a big "but" he quoted me $900-$1200 for a kitchen faucet and another $1900 for labor. He also stated that his company couldn't guarantee the installation because our water pressure was over 100 psi. Plus he needed to replace our angle stops which would be another $350. I purchased a faucet at Costco for $125 received other bids for less than $300 labor, called our water provider, CVWD and they were aghast that the plumber said our water pressure was too high as it's at 550 psi which is normal for our area and equipment. After I declined to hire Pride Plumbing I've received over 14 text messages and emails from them although I replied with "stop" on their texts. I've now had to block over three different phone numbers yet today I received another text in which I responded again with the reasons why I didn't hire them. Im a senior living in a beautiful community but cost is a factor when I consider vendor services. It's my opinion that I felt taken advantage of and have written this review.

I had no problem with the company until this situation occurred. I originally contacted Aloha because of an HVAC water leak. Their technician inspected the system, performed work, and told me it was okay to continue running the AC. I relied on that professional advice. After continuing to run the AC, water traveled further into my home and I was left with extensive ceiling damage, including cracking, separation, bubbling, and damaged drywall. I contacted the company and explained that I had only continued running the system because their technician told me it was okay. The owner personally came to my home and saw the ceiling damage. I questioned the $285 invoice because, in my opinion, I should not be expected to simply overlook what happened after following the advice of their technician. This was never about $285 or my ability to pay the bill. I have paid this company for previous work without a problem. It was about the principle of the situation and how I felt a longtime/repeat customer's legitimate concern should have been handled. Instead, I received a Final Demand for Payment and Notice of Intent to Pursue Legal Action, stating that they may pursue the matter in California Small Claims Court if the $285 is not paid by September 15. I will pay the $285, but receiving a legal demand rather than reaching a reasonable resolution with me completely changed my opinion of this company. I am extremely disappointed, particularly with how the owner chose to handle the situation. A company can perform good work in the past and still lose a customer based on how it responds when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, that is what happened here. After this experience, I will never use Aloha Plumbing Heating & Air again, and I cannot recommend them to others. I encourage anyone considering this company to make their own decision, but I am sharing my experience and photos so other homeowners know how my situation was handled.
