Came in this week, mind you I'm a retired individual and have great insurance. The office clerical team was great, I was greeted and treated well. My area of concern is the level of care you receive from the doctor, he took sometime to examine me, I felt as if it was a little brief but not rushed. Dr. Lewis seemed unmotivated to give me a summary of what was wrong, and left a employee from billing to tell me that I had "decay that has reached my gums and all throughout my nerves." No once did Dr. Lewis mention this, but his demeanor seemed as though he did not want to attend to our visit. My confidence in me having tooth decay slowly decayed in itself because Dr. Lewis did not even mention during my visit. Regarding the bill they tried to sell me was stupendous. All in short, they wanted to charge my insurance over a thousand dollars plus an out of pocket cost of over $640 for a cleaning. It saddens me to see a great office be tarnished by their own attending dentist, and I hope Dr. Lewis sees this review and considers amping up his level of attitude and willingness to simply converse with their patients regarding the care his office would like to perform. read more

Do not go here. They will tell you that you need a deep clean and then refuse to do anything else until you do that since they make it part of your care plan. I got a second opinion and a real dentist did a routine clean. They will add anything the make a profit. Highly invasive cleaning is their go to. read more

This was a very bad dental experience. I went in for a preventive cleaning for the first time. The only dental hygenist they have named Angie had no mask while examining the margins in my mouth. She came up with very high margin of 4, 5 and 6. I have never had anyone poke in mouth so hard and come up with such high numbers in my life. She and Dr Lewis then refused to do a preventive cleaning which I had prearranged. They gave my a referal to their periodontist for special treatment. I could not believe the way I was treated. Six days later I went to another another dentist in Memorial for a second opinion. Their exam had much different results! No measurements of 5 and 6....only 2, 3 and one 4. They sent my home with a great cleaning and exam and said I required no periodontal work. Say no more. read more

As pleasant an experience as you could expect out of a dental visit. I rarely go to the dentist and hate getting my teeth cleaned. However I had a past dental injury and a permanent brace that needed follow up and probably waited 2 years too long. I chose this office based on location and credentials. My biggest concern about dental visits is whether I would be talked into crowns and fillings I don't need. It may be paranoia but I recall an expose where some dentists were doing unnecessary procedures. Dr. Lewis examined my X-rays and everything was fine. No upsell into procedures. Angie took great care cleaning my teeth and then gave me some special toothpaste and mouth wash. I paid in cash since I don't have dental benefits. As a medical professional myself I thought the price was fair. Now that I've confirmed I'm cavity free I might wait another 4 years to go to the dentist...but if I change my mind I would return here. read more

I went in for a dental cleaning and was not satisfied with the rushed cleaning and attitude from the hygienist and staff. I was encouraged to pay $75 for a fluoride rinse and when declined, I felt the attitude from the staff. Last year's cleaning, I gave in to the pressure and regretted it. The office staff member had told me I couldn't leave without getting the rinse. It was required. This office is in my dental insurance network and will not return. This place is a JOKE. Do not go there if you are looking for a professional dentist. The staff has no sense of urgency (you will get there and they will not even acknowledge you and keep eating chips and talking to each other). The hygienist that does the cleaning complained to me several times about my husband's teeth while cleaning mine -- if that wasn't unprofessional enough she smelled like an ash tray. I have had nothing short of excellent experiences with Dr. Lewis and his team. I had been looking for a dentist in my area for quite a while and every encounter I've had with the office has been warm, engaging, professional and super quick. Unlike many shyster dentists out there who will claim you have cavities that absolutely need to be filled, Dr. Lewis never tries to push for any unnecessary dental procedures whatsoever. I've also had to come in for a dental emergency and the whole team attended to me very efficiently and effectively. I have no idea why there are bad reviews but I'm here to say that I am super impressed by the caliber of the professionals in this office. read more

I was scheduled for the second part of my cleaning called a polish. They told me on my original visit that Id have to come back in two weeks. So I was schedule for 2pm. I came in waited for about 10 min then was called to go in. They tried to sell me on another procedure that was never agreed upon. After I said that I need to think about it, they sent me back to the waiting room. I sat there for 20 min. There was only one other patient there waiting and he came in after me. The hygienist called him, even though my appointment was at 2 and I was there first. I then waited about an hour before I gave up. I asked the office manager why the wait was so long and she caught an attitude with me and told me I'm the next patient. Obviously I'm the next patient, there was no one else there. So when I asked to reschedule, since I've been there over an hour, she told that it was cuz I was scheduled for a different procedure. I responded by telling her that it was their mistake and because of that I was put in last waiting order. She rescheduled me with an attitude. a After being there over an hour, I had nothing done without an apology on top of making me feel bad for leaving. Not going back. Rather do business elsewhere. I haven't ever received any outstanding service or anything here. It's always been good and I've been happy. But I just went in for a cleaning and wow it was GREAT! The team is very unprofessional. My husband and I went for a teeth cleaning, the lady that was doing it smelled like cigarets, and during the hole procedure she kept complaining to me about doing the cleaning on my husband. She had an attitude and she was very rude and brutal on the cleaning. The procedure I did with the dentist Michael Lewis was the worse experience I had in my life. I got 2 porcelain crowns, and the dentist himself told me the lab they used was the best in Houston, that it would look perfect, I jus needed to schedule the first part of the procedure and go back after 3 weeks. I did the first part, 3 weeks later the porcelain crowns arrive, and the color is not even NEAR my teeth color (like 3 shades more "yellow" than my natural teeth). The assistent tried to convince me it was fine, but it obviously wasn't. I overheard the assistant talking to the dentist that "this new lab they tried sucks". So they ordered other crowns... now the format was weird and the dentist tried to fix it, but he didn't seem to know what he was doing. He told me I would keep these for another 3 weeks (since the assistant already fixed that in my teeth with permanent cement) and that he would order other crowns with another lab. I came back 3 weeks later, and before the dentist even arrived the assistant tried to remove the crowns (with permanent cement) WITHOUT anesthesia. He only stopped when I told him to wait for the dentist, because that seems weird and it was causing me a lot of pain. If they schedule your appointment for 8am don't even bother, the dentist will only get there after 8:30am. If they schedule you during the day make sure you are prepared for at least 1h delay. Anyway, obviously they have poor treatment, they do not have a good lab (DON'T BELIEVE IF THEY SAY THEY HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH THE BEST LAB IN HOUSTON). They even tried to BS me saying they could bleach the porcelain crowns to make it match my teeth color (It only took quick google search to find out porcelain crowns DO NOT bleach). I have only one advice to you: DO NOT GO THERE. Really. read more

I spent $4000 in 2013 being shuttled 3 dentist being told i needed a specialist to eventually get a tooth pulled. In 2014 a friend referred me to Southern Dental on Wirt Rd. I got the same tooth pulled on the other side for $350. Office isn't fancy but its clean and instead of being shuttled around to expensive specialist I got the same work done without needing a surgeon. I am 60 and have been to many dentist in my life. In this expensive world we live in its extemely important to find a good service for a reasonable rate. The Dr is Great{: and so is his staff!! read more

I went here after having one of my rear teeth break. The tooth didn't hurt and it wasn't sensitive to temperature changes. I was told that I needed a root canal and a crown. The crown was a terrible fit. It was taller than the other teeth, when it was being fitted, they ground on it but then said they were worried about grinding through the crown. I was told that it would fit better in a few weeks. The crown lasted less than 2 years before it finally broke the rest of the tooth and fell out. I am so happy to be free of that crown. I would occasionally (twice a year) cause me terrible pain for a week or two at a time. Makes me think the root canal wasn't done properly. At this point, I don't think I needed a root canal. I think they did it because my insurance would pay for it. Another thing that makes me mad is that they will not give me a normal teeth cleaning. They insist that I need a "deep cleaning" when they clean under the gum line. Yes, "deep cleaning" is covered by my insurance. I haven't had a second opinion on this, so maybe I do need the procedure, but after reading about it online, I don't think I need it. read more

Well where can I start..my first time here and I based picking this place on the Google reviews that I saw. Made my appt for 8:30 because I'm in a little bit of pain. Came in to see Dr. Michael Lewis as his name was mentioned a lot in the reviews. I made it here at 8AM and was seen right away..all the staff here are really friendly and hold professional conversations and truly made me feel at ease and if we were kindergarten friends lol. The dentist however I am not impressed as far as first impressions go. He said very little and doesn't really introduce himself when entering the room. He came he went. As afraid as I am this kind of got on my nerves but needles to say he didn't want to refer me out he is willing to do the work so I'm gong to try to give him another chance in March. I'll update again then. For now I'm giving it 3 stars and that is because of the staff. read more

My grandmother has had a similar experience to other reviewers. She went in for something very simple, was told (not asked) she need a bridge. She was told to come back in a week. They never checked her insurance or even ASKED her if it's what she wanted. They also tried to get her to do thousands of dollars of work that she didn't need (she's 86 years old, she doesn't need a "brilliant" smile). Beware of this place. read more

Dentist was fine but acts in professional manner (despite being an hour late for the appointment). My experience with the reception staff however, was a nightmare. Difficult to imagine that these persons actually had the capacity to make it through their interview. Their lack of empathy is surpassed only by their complete ineptitude for the simple tasks required. Will not be returning - it's just too frustrating. read more
