    Menu - Daily Lunch Plates

We stopped by Wednesday after hubs eye appointment. There were 2 other customers in the restaurant. We ordered ham and cheese omelettes, hash browns and biscuits to go. Our wait wasn't long and off we were back home to eat brunch before the next appointment. When I opened the to go containers, the omelettes were flat and I wondered about the ham. We started to eat and my husband said he didn't get any ham. I didn't either. I specifically asked the man to put ham in the omelettes. The menu has ham and cheese omelettes on it. This was a huge disappointment. The eggs were heavy, not soft and fluffy like other restaurants prepare. We know not to order omelettes from here again. We were charged an additional $5 or $6 for ham we never received because our order was not made correctly. I saw the handwritten ticket and it clearly had "ham and cheese " omelettes. I do not remember if ham was another $2.50 or $3 extra. We didn't get what we paid for. The best part of the meal was the biscuits. Homemade biscuits with whipped butter. My husband enjoyed the biscuits. The hash browns were ok. We were given whipped butter, strawberry jam, ketchup and flatware with our order. This visit didn't hit on all cylinders. Perhaps I caught them on an off day.

    French toast with bananas

Came by for lunch / breakfast for lunch with my mom this week for our weekly outing together. This small local spot is near the old Grissom High School / new south Huntsville library. Parking is ample, although super-close parking is a little bit harder to come by. Seating is very limited and it would probably be very hard to sit together if you came in a group larger than 4. None of that was a problem for us, though! We were comfy in our booth. Business was moderate at about 11:30 on a Friday. They have pretty much every American breakfast item you could ever want: BYO omelet or burrito, pancakes, French toast, all manner of eggs, biscuits and toast, grits, multiple potato options. Also some standard lunch options (hamburgers, club sandwiches) and meat+3 plate lunches to include catfish and other southern classics. On the day we visited, they had pork tamales and huevos rancheros on special. Yum! Breakfast and lunch only here, fyi. The place was clean and had a very high health department rating. I don't know that I'd say the service was effusively friendly, but they were certainly polite and running a very tight and efficient ship. Our food came out quickly, correctly, and piping hot. I thought the price was reasonable at ~$30 for two large entrees and two drinks. My mom had two eggs over easy with a biscuit, hash browns, and bacon. The bacon amount was generous and she said her eggs were cooked perfectly. The biscuit was a little dry - presumably leftover from the breakfast rush - but plenty good with some butter. We both enjoyed sweet tea to drink. I ordered the "sweet beginnings:" two eggs (I asked for scrambled), French toast (added bananas), and hash browns. It was all yummy! The French toast was a little thinner cut than I expected but it was cooked just right and the bananas were a wise addition for a small extra cost. I typically prefer my scrambled eggs cooked a little runnier than the ones I got but I certainly understand why they cook them very thoroughly and I probably could have asked for them runnier. Mom and I both loved our hash browns. So often places get the top crispy but the bottom undercooked, but these were perfect. Crunchy on top and soft and fluffy beneath! Overall, complaints are very minor and we had an enjoyable time together. We will certainly be back in the future for more French toast and hash browns!

    Classic benny and home fries

The classic Benny was OK. For my side I ordered home fries. Obviously, they consider potato chips to be home fries! I explain to the waiter that these are not home fries these are potato chips. I was informed that's how they make home fries. I will not be back.

Great hidden gem. Support local & this local spot has a great variety of good & great service. It's a small venue with only 10 tables, but you can tell that there are a lot of regulars or locals eating there because the staff were visiting with several patrons (but still attentive to other customers). Check them out!!

Just a wonderful, quaint little eatery. Around 15 tables and booths, so if you have a crowd, you'll have to spread out. I was seated as soon as I walked in and treated like family. The menu is a basic menu of down home eats. I ordered the "Southern Egg Breakfast with Bacon and biscuit". The food was made to order and brought out pretty quickly. My regular readers know I am a picky SOB when it comes to eggs over easy, and they absolutely nailed them. There was enough food to satisfy most diners. Everything was fantastic! The staff treat everyone like they were a either family or a reviewer (I NEVER tell folks they are being reviewed). I made a followup visit and was certainly not disappointed. This has to be one of the best breakfasts in Huntsville. Try it, you shan't be sorry!

Maybe short staffed? They seemed to have plenty of servers to go around and yet ours was invisible. She took our order and didn't return until food was delivered (35-40min) later (refills on coffee nope). Our order wasn't correct and things had to go back to the kitchen. Potatoes cold, bacon slimey instead of crisp, steak in omelette burnt, toast was warm bread and the hollandaise resembled lumpy pudding. Giving our server then benefit of the doubt I'll say she was frustrated with the kitchen instead of being annoyed we sent things back. Overall an unpleasant experience and not one we will repeat.

I'm glad…read morethey've joined us on the Huntsville side of things. :) Located on Four Mile Post near the Peppered Pig (my beloved), this restaurant has been pretty popular for breakfast, brunch, and lunch since opening. I visited with my mom a little over a week ago to catch up. We arrived at around 10:30 on a Thursday to a restaurant about 30% full. We were greeted and allowed our choice of seating -- we opted for a small booth by a sunny window. Our waitress was very pleasant and bubbly and happy to accommodate our few specifications/requests (e.g. bacon instead of ham in my bowl). My one complaint about service is that it took a while to get our check, but the restaurant was picking up in business, so it's all good. The interior is cute and sunshiney and the women's bathroom was clean. My mom got a standard breakfast of two over-easy eggs, home fries, bacon, and toast. Although it was a simple breakfast, everything was executed perfectly, from the nicely crisped bacon to the just-runny-enough eggs. She thoroughly enjoyed it. Note that they butter the toast for you -- she assumed they didn't and got a handful of smear trying to butter it herself, lol. I got the same thing I got when I tried the Madison location, a sort of southwest home fry bowl. It comes with a healthy heap of home fries, eggs cooked your choice (scrambled for me), pepperjack cheese, peppers and onions, jalapeños, and a side cup of sour cream and salsa. Mom inspired me with her toast so I nabbed a side of raisin toast. It was sweet and cinnamony. This version of the southwest bowl didn't hit quite as hard as the one I had in Madison. Not sure what it was -- maybe a different, more cilantro-y salsa, or maybe the jalapeños were more vinegary than spicy? This is not to say I didn't enjoy it, though; the eggs were still cooked nicely and I was happy overall with my meal. This would be a good place to take your family, have a small work or mentorship gathering, etc. Give them a try for a more straightforward but, imo, better prepared breakfast than comparable options nearby.

The girl who took our order was incredibly friendly, and the service was quick from the moment we walked in. I ordered Dad's Egg Sandwich, and Mom got the Vegetable Frittata. The bacon on my sandwich was the standout--nice, thick, and perfectly cooked. My only complaint is that the menu mentioned garlic, but I honestly couldn't taste any. If you're going to promise garlic, I want to taste garlic! Mom really enjoyed her frittata, although I think she's getting a little tired of egg dishes lately. She especially loved the toast and whatever butter they served with it. It almost tasted like maple butter, and it was delicious. The fresh fruit was also excellent (I happily finished Mom's!). My only real complaint is the size of the restaurant. It's a cozy space, but I can see it getting crowded very quickly during the breakfast rush. Overall, everything was wonderful. Friendly staff, fast service, and a delicious breakfast. We'll definitely be back!
