Smitty's has been around for a minute, specializing in traditional fast food: burgers, fries, hot dogs, onion rings, etc. The ambiance reminded me of those 50's style drive up food places where a waitress on roller skates would bring your food out on a tray and hook it on your car window for you to enjoy on the lot! We pulled into the lot and we saw folks eating in their cars. I got out to go in to place an order when I saw a sign on the door that said "staff only" and realized that you stay IN your car the the wait staff will come to your car to take your order! We were greeted by a pleasant young lady and she took our order: double cheeseburger with fries and a side order of battered onion rings. After taking our order, she placed a pink tag on our windshield. Our order was done in no time. When the young lady brought it to us, we paid her then. She had a traditional metal change dispenser on her waist too! The burger was SO good: the bun was fresh, the burger good with melted cheese and fried onions. The fries were crispy and fresh. The battered onion rings were SO good: whole onion slices surrounded in a nice crispy, non-greasy batter. All in all, I'm so glad we finally stopped by Smitty's. It has definitely made it to our go to list of food places to visit while in the area.

I was craving a craft burger, and I usually order those from Red Robin -- but the deal was enticing so I went ahead and decided to try Smashburger. I ordered the truffle mushroom smashburger and sweet potato waffle fries. I gotta say, for the price, it was just...eh. Edible for sure, but nothing super fabulous either. I can make a better burger in my oven at home than this was, and the sweet potato fries were okay for sure, but nothing spectacular. Delivery took a while too for some reason. I don't know that I'll revisit this place, but it was average overall for sure.

I recently tried Smashburger for the first time and cannot say enough good things about them…read more My wife and I both ordered the Smoked Brisket Bacon Smashburger. I added a side of "Smashfries" (cheese & bacon covered fries). My wife got the "Smashtots" (cheese & bacon covered tatertots). My grandson ordered the Double Truffle Mushroom Smashburger. Though it took a bit of time for our order to arrive (from what we saw, they have a hugh takeout business), it finally came out -- so hot we almost could not eat it. The Brisket Bacon Smash was enormous and incredibly favorable - a bit messy with BBQ sauce ah dripping. My grandson's Mushroom Smash was significantly smaller than ours - almost like a mini-burger - but he said it was also hot, favorable and delicious. Both the Smashtots and Smashfries truly justified the term, "loaded", being covered in bacon and almost swimming in delicious melted cheese (not the typical Cheez-Wiz dip). They have a unique selection of fountain drinks (Dragon Juice, etc.) which were not quite as good as they sounded, so I wound up sticking to the standard soda. The cost is not exorbitant but Smashburger is not cheap. Their burgers cost $10-$14, but the amount of food you get makes it feel worth the price. I compare that to another premium burger joint like Five Guys which has a similar cost for their burgers, but the value just does not feel be the same, which is why I stopped going to Five Guys. The ONLY negative about the entire visit, was that one of the persons waiting on us had dreadlocks literally down to her knees. Hair like that in a restaurant environment is always less than desirable. But it appeared well kept and so was a relatively minor issue. All in all, Smashburger is was a delightful new restaurant discovery; one which I hope to visit often.

We came here two weekends ago actually as a Plan B because our first choice ran out of food items. Let's see if our Plan B worked out. Seating was available for the most part when we walked in. The owner greeted us and said welcome back. There were YouTube videos being played on TV screens around. 80s and 90s music...can't complain at all. After looking through the menu for a bit, I chose the buffalo chicken fries. It's actually an appetizer dish, but I actually got full before finishing. I took the leftovers home and finished that evening. Another great stop here for the both of us. What more can you ask for receiving great food with great care from the staff. You know we'll be back here :)

Long version: So I went to check out this Mexican spot in Hampton and it was pretty interesting. The little mall that this place is in looks run down and I was wondering if my car was going to get broken into while it was parked there. But once you get inside this place has some interesting vibes and tons of fun decorations. I got the California burrito with a Mexican Coke and highly recommend! It is a 14 inch burrito that you can hold in your hand with guac, shredded Monterey Jack, carne asada steak, crispy fries with cotija cheese. There was a big group of people (maybe 10-12) in there when we arrived that was eating up a lot of the attention of the one waiter. Also, we had a long wait for food because they actually ran out of steak that was prepped and so they had to prep more and grill it up for the burrito. My friend got the OG burrito which he thought was good, but was a little soggy from the juice from the chicken. Even with everything, I would still recommend this place, and their California burrito was amazing.

It's just a horrible experience as is. They need to go to Precarious and see how they do it. Their food is generally good to great. They have a $5 before 5 app and drink special menu that is a really good deal. Nice spot for adults to have some drinks. Just be patient as service is generally slow. Now onto my recent experience.... I suggested it to some friends who wanted to grab some beers on MLK day which was a Monday. There were 4 of us guys and 7 kids. It's a lot. I get it. They weren't overly busy. Maybe a quarter full. I tried to keep the kids away from other tables by giving them boundaries. They were not happy with us. They didn't like the kids being outside in their patio (freezing, no one out there) etc. The one server was getting destroyed. She had just like 6 tables, but a 16 top. I felt badly for her. Our drinks correspondingly took about 20-30 minutes each time we tried to order. She was nice when she could get to us. At one point a person who said they were a manager, I think she said her name was Hannah, came over and said the kids couldn't be going around (again, I had boundaries not by any other patrons etc. from what I could see they were honoring them, but who knows), anyway she asked if we could keep them by us, which is fine. I then asked her if I could put in a beer and app order as I had been waiting for our server with an empty beer for at least 20 minutes. Instead of taking the order and ringing it in, she said she'd send the server over and disappeared never to be seen again. 5 minutes Iater the server was able to get free from her big table and get our beer orders and food in. Several items were forgot, but at this point we were kind of over it. Just not really your typical relaxed brewery vibe. Felt like they wanted it to be more of a sit down restaurant. That big long story to say it's not a spot for kids. Overall food and drinks are solid. Beer is solidly middle of the pack for Peninsula. Management needs some work.

We were greeted immediately as we entered. You have to wait to be seated but there was no wait. Our server was so nice and friendly. She took our drinks order and answered all our questions. This place should be on all locals list to check out. The vibe is very chill. We have stopped by when it's been busy and they've had live music and also when it's been on the quiet side like today. Every time the service has been superb and the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcomed. I only wish they were a little closer to home since they are located in Hampton but don't let that stop you. It's not a bad ride.
