We tried the pulled pork and brisket combo (only issue is that their three meat combo did not offer sausage as is traditional in Texas barbecue joints) to their baby back ribs, the meats were just as you'd expect... Melt from the bone, robust taste and tender. Their side dishes were just as good, including a true sweet cornbread, baked beans, coleslaw, and macaroni and cheese. As anyone knows who has visited or lived in Texas, a barbecue joint is not a barbecue joint without cobbler for dessert. And Southern Pig and Cattle offers a peach cobbler. Unfortunately this was a cobbler without the cake! It was The only downer of the entire meal. We'll definitely be back. Had dinner here this evening. We ordered the half rack of ribs and I was told they were very good. I had the pulled pork platter was up to par, I like that they give you cinnamon butter for the sweet potato (also used the cinnamon butter for my corn bread). I got the sampler. Nothing was great except the baked potato. The brisket was off color, dry and flavorless. And a little cool. The chicken quarter was fair. I really don't remember it too much which should tell you something. The pulled pork was quite good. It was already sauced up unlike the brisket. I prefer to sauce my meats myself, but they did a good job with this. Didn't seem to be any fat and gristle in it. I was only in town to visit my dad and saw the good reviews. Everyone there is very friendly. We decided this is where we were going to take my husband as well as my son's father. The young ladies at the front desk told us to find a table we liked. Okay I can follow orders. The menus came and our waitress who was more than pleasant but efficient and kind. My husband and son ordered the brisket dinner platters. The brisket was cut into pieces that were so thin that you could see through it. Cutting this thin does not allow for enjoyment but one keeps looking for more. A buddy selected Southern Pig to meet up on a Friday night. I got there first and selected a table. The wait staff seemed a bit unsure who was supposed to take care of us, but Katie eventually came over and was so kind and friendly. The food was just alright, nothing special. Salad bar includes: mixed greens, cottage cheese, raw broccoli, cheese, cherry tomatoes, garbanzo beans, hard boiled egg, macaroni salad, pasta salad, Cole slaw, jello, pudding, sunflower seeds, bacon bits, raisins, grapes, etc. there are two soups that change daily. We just moved to the area and we are starting to try new (to us) places. We walked in around 5PM on a Thursday and sat down immediately. We were just a couple of many walking in at the same time. The menu is your typical BBQ joint menu. I found everything to be fairly priced. My husband had the baby back ribs & I had the pulled pork. Ribs were tender with a bit of smokiness. The pulled pork was on the dry side, but the bbq sauce helped. I LOVE the garlic toast. Mac & cheese, ok. Coleslaw, good. Fries, crinkle cut. The included ice cream cone was a nice ending to our meal. For the most part, food was good. Not great. Reason for 4*? Tonight my husband, his sister and I went to Southern Pig and Cattle for a quick dinner. At the end of the meal my husband realized his wedding ring was no longer on his finger. After a panicked search under the table without finding the ring, we realized it had most likely come off as he wiped his messy fingers on his napkin, which he discarded on his plate which had been removed. In a panic, we grabbed our terrific waitress who grabbed her manager and after explaining what had happened, members of kitchen staff went out to the dumpster and ultimately found the ring! We will be forever grateful to the staff and management of Southern Pig and Cattle for their concern and efforts to find my husband's ring. It is absolutely amazing that place can be this good. The service is excellent; the waitress knows the menu and when you ask a question they know the answer without hesitation. The place is spotless. On the way home from Palm Beach, I stopped at Southern Pig and Cattle to pick up a 1/2 lb. of brisket. It was cooked correctly with a nice smoke ring and aroma. Last week, we tried Sweet Smoke and was quite disappointed. We will continue to visit Southern Pig and Cattle. I did not give it five stars only because I had not tried other items. Tables were all spaced and some closed to follow 6' rules. All personal wearing gloves and masks yet being friendly and happy. Service was excellent and fast. Now the most important part of all, The Food". It was delicious. Ordered BBQ beans (a must order item here... very good), the corn bread was okay but the baby back ribs were incredibly tasty... enough smoke but not overpowering and sauce was sweet, tangy, spicy... in other words... A huge disappointment. I have eaten barbecue all over the country, and all over the south. This place is a joke. My husband and I split the three meat platter so that we could try the different meats here. There's an up charge for the beef brisket. The turkey was sliced like luncheon meat, and tasted like luncheon meat. We outright laughed at the turkey. The brisket that was an up charge - it was also sliced as thin as luncheon meat, and was not even worth the up charge. Our server was nice and offered a refill of soda to go.
