The dough made for the most perfectly soft-but-crunchy texture and the vegetable uttapam was delicious with plentiful vegetables. We had an array of chutneys to dip in that all offered yet more spice and flavor to the already excellent filling. They were kind enough to offer us chocolate dosas for dessert, which was the perfect ending to a generous meal. Bring cash for a tip as there is no option to add a tip to the receipt. Got to know about this place very recently and heard good reviews about their mandi. Tried both Goat and chicken mandi and I must say their goat mandi was the best. Half and full portions are available so we ordered one half goat and one full chicken which was more than enough for 5 people. If you're a mutton lover I'd suggest you to try their goat mandi, both the mandis are same just that the meat changes. For chicken they have provided a whole chicken tandoori over the rice which was ok. Decent dine inn with Good service. So, one half goat mandi and one full chicken mandi costed us $154. First timer ... we had their food in a house warming party and wanted to try take home food. Ordered pepper and chicken roast . Both were spicy and well made . Pepper was amazing , but make sure you order ur spice level. If U say spicy , it is really spicyyyyy. Not like other restaurants. Chicken roast was a little less spicy but well made. .. we also ordered chilli corn .. I didn't like that much. Corn was fried well but the sauce was like tomato ketchup . Sweet and not at all good. Ordered two small trays of biryani for a small gathering we had at home. The chicken biryani was alright, they packed ample chicken pieces in the biryani, but it lacked the real biryani flavor. The other one was a mutton pulao recommended by the staff who took my order, and it was more like jeera rice topped with mutton curry. The ambience could be renovated for the better; felt a bit crowded and too casual. We've been to this local restaurant a couple of times now and they never disappoint. The cooking, while they're "standard" Indian fare, is honestly amazing. Portions are generous, and the dishes are not overly oily. Most of the dishes taste awesomely spicy (but not that "killer" spicy) and the flavors are deliciously complex. Look at the hearty Butter Chicken, mixed with Chicken Biryani, eaten with Nan, and Idly and sambar, and about 3-4 side accompanying condiments. The Palak Paneer and the Paneer Markhani (even though this one is like a twin sister to butter chicken in look and taste) is fresh and you can taste every southern spice that was put into the mix to make these excellent dishes. Unhygienic, Contaminated and awful place We went to the beach for July 4th and on our way decided to taste some good south Indian food and we found Anjappar don't have dine in and so we decided to dine in here. Th family used the restroom and the bathroom is across the kitchen and it was awful, filthy. The moms were so worried and we placed the order without any clue. The food was not only spicy irrespective of requesting them to be medium and it appeared to be old and the cooking was so unpleasant and we complained that Gobi 65 and chicken 65 is not even 5% crispy and got a reply this is how they serve. One of our worst eat outs and strongly recommend to avoid this place if you're dining with family. Just tried this place, it is setup as a take away Indian spot, and i believe is new ownership from the previous owners ("masala bar"). Southern spice prices are mid to reasonable. The portions were very good, especially the curry's which can traditionally be quite small especially with Indian restaurants in NYC. The food was fresh, spicy, and well seasoned. I tried the special chicken biriyani, goat biriyani, hydra. chicken curry, special chicken curry, and wings! The biriyani was spicy as well, with fresh green chilis throughout. Is it the best biriyani in the world? No, but it is very very good. My biggest frustration with Biriyani is typically it feels like you get it with some yellow rice, and meat scattered throughout. Here, it felt like it was being made in the properly Hyderabad style. The wings were small but plentiful (I think i received much more than 15 wings), and the sauce was a butter herb chicken Indian style. They were crispy too which surprised me. I am not sure if they reviewer below just had a bad experience or went to early to the restaurants opening. But, i thought it was fantastic and have frequently had Indian growing up, in India, and NYC. It's a simple no nonsense place with nice portions and a lot of flavor. I guess they recently took over Masala Bar. So wanted to give it a shot. Ordered a Mutton Biryani. And guess what? They dont have it. That should have been an indication to cancel my whole order. Well they offered me a Mutton pulav instead. Dry..Dry... Dry Mutton pulav( maybe they made it over a frying pan with pulav rice from the rice cooker) with tons of garam masala spice( maybe didn't grind enough) with every bite having star anise.Ended up throwing out.
