Everything I was10/10! Amazing customer service! We were looking for a good soul food spot close by the convention center when I came across Southern Style Eatery on yelp and decided to call to see if they would accommodate a take out order. The man that answered told me they weren't open yet but he would take my order and have it done if I came now. When we got there the owners let us in and gave us so much hospitality. A great family own restaurant. We ordered the shrimp basket 10/10 came with a lot of shrimp, fries, and very flavorful. Fish bites was my favorite came with a lot of fish and it had a lemon pepper seasoning on it crispy. Chef's kiss 100/10 My son got the wings and fries plain and if you can make flavorful wings without sauce you got it! 10/10 And side of Mac 10/10 Not to mention all that food was under $40 which could have easily been a $50 bill at home in LA This has become 1 of my family's favorite in Vegas and we definitely will come back again every time we stop in town. read more

This crew does not stop raising the bar. They catered a lunch for about 100 people. They did not miss a beat. I have discovered that cooking for small groups is nothing like cooking for large groups...however, Southern Style rose to the occasion and delivered quality, delicious, hot, and freshly made chicken, greens, mac and cheese, corn bread, fish, yams to perfection. Today we're experiencing Southern Style Eatery in Las Vegas. I'm from the south, and I've been on the hunt for some good fried chicken and okra. I visited this restaurant for the first time today. The ambiance/energy of the restaurant has an old school Southern vibe. The Fish Po Boy I had was good but the Fried Green Tomatoes tasted hard and overcooked. This restaurant provided very poor service not to me exactly but I received my food before a few people who have been waiting longer than me. A couple of ladies who sat right next to me got up and walked to the back takeout area to complain and then I heard to employees in the kitchen yelling at each other which is very unprofessional. When people walk into the Dine In section of the restaurant, there isn't any employees to greet them and there's no sign stating Open Seating or Please Wait To Be Seated. I wouldn't recommend anyone to go to this restaurant. I hope these internal issues they have gets resolved. read more

Came for after service Sunday lunch and the food was AMAZING- seasoning on point, Mac n cheese was a hit, collards and yams! Ugh you gotta try it. There is a wait for the food about 30mins BUT it is worth it, the portion size is enough for two meals and it's HOT when it comes out which is highly appreciated. I knew my food was fresh when it came out which made the wait worth it. Cute little spot downtown. However parking is limited. The service isn't really service service it's like order and eat in type of service but as they grow and add full service (water, table check-ins and etc) it's gonna really take off (also it was extremely busy like every table filled busy). Pros: Catfish is always my go to in addition to macaroni and cheese and collards. Every time I go, it is just consistent. While it may take a while for my order, the wait is well worth the quality. Cons: The inconsistency, or rather impossibility, of getting a hold of someone on the phone. Sadly, I cannot indulge in the convenience of ordering ahead because I've had no luck in the past three months getting an answer when calling the Main Phone. This was our 2nd visit while in Vegas for my birthday weekend!! Our first visit was Easter weekend for our Anniversary and the food was amazing!! The service was great because we came right before closing. The food was fresh and delicious. The music was perfect, the right music at the right volume. The 2nd visit, we took family(mom, aunt and older cousin) and they LOVED IT! The food was amazing, fresh, hot out the pot and every dish was tasty! Hats off to the chef! I love the way the food is already in a to-go tray so no need to pack up the leftovers. The portions are the perfect size. The music was perfect for a Sunday meal. The owners are lovely people. There is nothing like coming to a place and what's on the menu they don't have or it's served on another day but doesn't state on the menu. Coming from the Bay Area where when you go to an establishment what you order on the menu you get. So, without even tasting the food I won't be back. I really ordered things I actually didn't want but I thought it would be rude to walk out. Mind you it was only 5pm and they close at 9p. So I'm really disappointed. I want to patronize folks but whe your going to have a meal have what's on the menu. I can't see myself coming back when town. I ended up at Ella M's to get what i wanted. By far some of the best food I've ever had in Vegas. Was visiting a few weeks ago and wanted to see what the soul food scene in Vegas was like. The food was so good, we decided to go back a second time on the same trip. Everything was cook fresh and seasoned well. Came across this place on accident- Even with unfavorable reviews, I am going to give it 5 stars. Honestly, the food was super yum! I'm not going to base my review off of wait times, decor, professionalism, etc- strictly based off of the food that this establishment is serving. I got the catfish, yams and potato salad- it was so good! For $21, I got 4 pieces of fish and decent side servings- well worth it! The staff are real life and friendly- may not be everyone's cup of tea while dining but they are providing respectful service. You're dining at a family ran soul food restaurant, not a boujie fine dining establishment- if you want good food, be willing to have patience and give grace. I was in contact with the owner a week prior to my family visiting from various. I again spoke with PJ and was told someone contact me days prior to confirm however no one had. I again called to confirm my party of 20-22 people when I arrived in Vegas. The food was amazing !!! However I wish they had cornbread for us all as only maybe 4 people received it. They were also out of numerous dishes and also their listed kool aid. This was definitely unexpected as I spoke to them days before they confirm however things happen. The customer service was great as well as our waitress. I don't recall her name, but I do remember she was holding a pretty baby. Once me and my family first entered the energy seemed great and the service too but shortly after all that changed! We were told it would be a 20 min wait and we were there for over an hour waiting for our food. The greens are tasteless with too much vinegar. The rice they're using has to be uncle Ben's minute rice, couldn't even cook actual rice! We paid $97 and I literally want my money back. The owners are very unprofessional and were arguing the whole time. On top of that, they had family and friends coming to dine and they got their food before us!! And again, we waited over an hour! It takes literally 5-10 min to cook shrimp and 15 min to cook fish. The sides normally are already cooked especially being that they use minute rice. Unacceptable! I really wanted to enjoy my experience at Southern Style, but unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. When we arrived, several of the items we wanted to order were unavailable, which was disappointing. We tried multiple options, but each time we were told they were out. This made it difficult to really experience what the restaurant is known for. The chef did come out to speak with us, which I appreciated, as it showed he cared enough to address our concerns. However, the conversation felt uncomfortable at times. Instead of being open to feedback, he seemed defensive and had a response for every concern we raised. When I walked in to Southern Style Eatery I was greeted by the owner. This place is designed to be a family style restaurant with chill music playing in the background. The hostess explained the menu to me and gave insight on menu items when I asked. I ordered the fried catfish, macaroni & cheese and red beans w/rice. The fish was fried to perfection, it was crispy and flavorful, the homemade tarter sauce was good, the red beans & rice was good and the macaroni was good as well but could've had a little more cheese. I try to support Black owned businesses and wanted to give this place a good rating, but couldn't. We searched online and found this place. Online info said this place would open at 11am. When we checked again, the time had been pushed to 1pm. Once we arrived, doors opened a little past 1pm. Not a big deal, however when we started to order, several items that were advertised weren't available. We started to just leave, but wanted to support, so we stayed. We were told by an employee that they were involved with a catering event earlier and were unable to supply the menu items. If a catering event will cause the restaurant to suffer, then maybe the restaurant should not have opened that day at all. Since there was no Dirty Rice, I settled for regular white rice. Since there was no gravy I was given red beans on my rice. There was no cornbread so we were given Hush Puppies. We ended up with Fried Fish, Chicken, Mac n Cheese, Greens and Yams. The Mac n Cheese was very salty, the greens were mushy and obviously old and overcooked, the Hush puppies were too hard and crunchy and the Yams lacked flavor and tasted old as well. The chicken was undercooked and obviously rushed. They DIDNT have ANY desserts AT ALL. Although we dined in, we couldn't eat the food and ended up throwing it away. We left very disappointed. I wish I had checked the reviews on this place before going, because all negative reviews seem to complain about the same thing, which is exactly what I experience there. Plus I've noticed on YELP, that the owner/Ceo will criticize and attack you for SPEAKING YOUR TRUTH about your experience there. We stopped by Southern Style Eatery on Thanksgiving at the last minute and had such a wonderful time! The food was soooo good! It was home cooking without having to do the work. Our family has different tastes and everyone was completely satisfied. The fish and shrimp was fried hard to perfection.
