Stuff My Turkey definitely lived up to the hype and will be on our list every time we visit Las Vegas. We ordered Mrs. Mary's Fish, which came with catfish, two sides, and cornbread. For our sides, we chose dirty rice (with Creole sauce on the side) and mac and cheese. We skipped the drinks this time, but they did have Kool-Aid on the menu, which gave it that authentic Southern comfort food feel. The mac and cheese was the star of the meal. It tasted just like something your grandmother would make, creamy, flavorful, and baked with the perfect crispy layer of cheese in all the right places. It was easily our favorite item. The dirty rice was good on its own, but once we added the Creole sauce, it took the flavor to another level. The catfish had the perfect crunch and was seasoned so well that it didn't need anything extra, although we couldn't resist adding a little hot sauce. The only item that wasn't a favorite for us was the cornbread. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't our style, and we've had better elsewhere. The service was outstanding. Even though the restaurant was packed because of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority convention in town, we were seated surprisingly fast. I will admit the fish what seasoned well and fried perfectly. Their Fried Green Tomatoes are actually pretty good. Although they douse them in flour before they put them in cornmeal so when they're fried they're still a little doughy from the flour. But they're still fried well if that makes. The greens tasted like Glory greens but less seasoned. The yams are not homemade they are canned yams that taste like Bruce's yams in the brown can or the princella in the purple can either way they're canned not homemade and gross. Took my fam of 5 (2 adults, 3 teens) to try it out. Service was great! "P" was our server and she came over with big kind energy, greeting us like family. When she walked away, two of my kids said "omg she was so nice!" She was happy to answer questions, and did so honestly (for example, Alexis' Soul Bowl with double mac for $12 is the same size portion as the mac in the Soul Bowl section- just lacking the meat which we're getting in other dishes so it was perfect for us). She also let us know which items might take a little longer. The restaurant itself was big and open. The booth was roomy, and fit both hefty adults comfortably. It wasn't warm, but I wouldn't have been mad with a little stronger AC. We weren't sweating or anything, I'm just the crank it down to 70 type of person. The food was all cooked perfectly (the shrimp was plump and delicious). I have one of the pickiest eaters on Earth, and not only did he try things we weren't expecting him to, he loved them and begged for more! Example: he doesn't usually eat mashed potatoes (too picky) but he was scraping the plate. He also tried grits for the first time and fell in love. I saw in reviews some that were low stars saying "it's just your basic mac" or "average greens". I agree, but in a good way. It was just the food you would go home to eat and spend time with family, and it was cooked very well. Like it wasn't the most amazing thing I ever ate, but it was delicious and I would come back and eat it over and over. Everything had just the right amount of seasoning, nothing was over or under salted. My only food wish was that the peach cobbler had 25-30% more peaches in it. It was huge, but I'm just thinking ratio. You do get crispy skin around it. I do think it is a little overpriced and it was $28 for the plate. Service was great and very friendly. She made us feel welcomed. Automatically the host (who looks like the manager/owner) greeted us and got us a table earlier than quoted. The restaurant is a very nice, black-owned as well, and looks like there's a bit of history. They have both digital and physical menus. Our server was a cool guy, kept conversations casual and even acknowledged the long wait that came with the food. We got The Godfather Leg, that included blackened shrimp, linguine, Alfredo all on top of a nice, tender turkey leg. It is not an exaggeration when I say it was probably the best turkey leg I've ever tasted. They have other soul-food type of options as well (but didnt try so I can't review yet). They also have full service bar, ordered the old-fashioned and had no complaints, was a solid drink. Overall, I would DEFINITELY come back the next time I am in Las Vegas, I would recommend dining in as they have a good culture and music that brings great vibes to its customers. I came hungry and managed to enjoy eating the entire turkey leg and collards but didn't eat the cornbread because there simply was no room. The southerner in me loved how the greens were well cooked, seasoned and not overly flavorful, but tenderly slowly cooked. The art and the science was on display with the greens.
