This place has a great location with a good amount of seating. The service is okay, likely because it was hot and they were busy. They are pretty quick with making food. They do not take orders over the phone. We ordered the buffalo shrimp, lobster tostones and steak tacos. The steak tacos were delicious but felt like they were missing something. I recommend putting some hot sauce on. The buffalo shrimp were crispy and delicious. The lobster tostones were good but a bit disappointing. Despite the Cole slaw and cheese they still felt a bit dry due to the maduros. read more

We were visiting key west on a cruise and stumbled upon this food truck. We had time so we stopped by for some coffee. I got an iced cafe con leche and it was so good! The employee was nice and quick and even asked if I enjoyed it as we were hanging out around the truck trying to kill time before we went on our way. It was a beautiful and busy day and they appeared to be quite popular. We would definitely stop by again next time we're in Key West. read more

When you arrive, there is a food truck where you order what you want. They have menus under the tip bucket. The atmosphere is casual. Cute bar, fans and umbrellas and live music. And there is a mini version of the buoy so if you don't want to stand in line at the actual one across the street, this one is a good second choice for a photo opp :) Sadly, the Cuban sandwich was disappointing. The pork was dry, chewy and had a ton of gristle. The fries were bland. Even a little salt would have been nice. 2 of us split a sandwich, but neither of us finished our half. read more

A great food truck with lots of flair. We wanted something small to grab before getting ready and heading to a late dinner. We were staying at the Southernmost Hotel, so this was perfect. This is a unique set up. There is a food truck, a seperate bar, and they share a patio with live music. Nice place to hang out after a morning of sightseeing. The patio has big fans and lots of umbrellas. We had chicken tacos and a Cuban sandwich which were both really good! The bar tenders are nice and they make good drinks. It's a win win! read more

1st stop after getting rental golf cart 1/2 block from Southern Most Point. The location has a covered roof, really nice outdoor bar and food truck. There are plenty of fans and the chickens are equal guests. Alcohol prices are consistent with the area and pours are good! You won't be disappointed! read more

The only good thing about this restaurant was the location. Nothing else. Food was okay. We ordered the lobster sandwich that barely had any lobster in it. I would say it's 95% breading and 5% lobster meat. Service was TERRIBLE especially at the bar. Servers were acting like it was an inconvenience having a lot of customers. We waited for so long and I got the most disgusting drink I've ever had in my life. I couldnt even finish it. This restaurant has so much potential. If they want to retain customers I would say they need to hire better staffs. Someone who's really happy to serve and ACTUALLY do their job. read more

Sandy's is a nice place to eat. The Cuban mix is good, nice flavor and filling. The Mahi taco is OK, fried chunk of fish, and sauce. The service is quick and the food is served hot. It's outside near the southernmost point buoy, so it gets a bit loud and crowded. They turn the music up to drown some of it out. Overall the food is OK, but not a place to go if you want dinner conversation. read more

This visit, I ordered the whole fried yellow snapper, served with yuca, yellow rice, and beans. My dinner companion had the Siboney skirt steak, one of the restaurant's popular dishes, served with a choice of sides. Both meals were excellent. Dessert was equally impressive: a delicious slice of tres leches cake and silky vanilla custard that were the perfect ending to the meal. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience. When the food finally arrived everything looked great, but my sandwich had Swiss cheese on it and the grits had American. Though it was very tasty. My partners food came out perfectly. The short of it is the food was amazing. The service lacked hospitality.

The other no mayo with chips. My came correct. Would have liked a little more filling, but that was ok. My daughter's did come with mayo. Drinks were a strawberry lemonade and the other was an iced mocha latte. Lemonade was great. Mocha latte was just a latte with what looked like cocoa powder and was just ok. I would try this place again. Service was great. Keep in mind, they closed the kitchen by 2:45.

Sandy's Cafe, located near Duval St. in Key West, is a fun little spot we discovered on our first day on the island. We were instantly captivated by its vibrant atmosphere. The cafe is entirely outdoors, and it's serviced by a Cuban food truck and an outdoor bar. The live music playing in the background drew us in that day, setting the perfect tone for our visit. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a fun place to kick off your visit to the island. The seating is first come, first serve and can be a hassle on busy days. Found Sandy's Cafe on our 1st day in Key West. Had the Spicy Fried Chicken to share which was plenty for 2. We visited every morning for breakfast and Daly was fab. We changed our order on the 2nd morning but Daly remembered the next time what we wanted. Will definitely be visiting again if ever in Key West. read more

The area was louder than I expected, but it also seemed very popular with both tourists and locals alike. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, along with a huge full bar. From what I saw on other people's tables, the portion sizes were very generous, making it feel like a good value for the money. On Saturday night, I ate a shrimp quesadilla here, and by Sunday morning I was violently sick. I had nonstop vomiting and severe liquid diarrhea for hours, couldn't keep down even tiny sips of water or Pedialyte, and the cramping became so intense I could barely stand or walk without help. Things got so bad that by Sunday evening I ended up in the emergency room due to extreme dehydration. I needed IV fluids, medications, and hours of treatment. I was vomiting bile, hyperventilating, extremely weak, and dealing with muscle tingling and cramping from how dehydrated my body became. What makes me the most angry is that food poisoning is NOT something minor, especially when seafood is involved. Situations like this can become life-threatening, and restaurants should understand the seriousness and responsibility that comes with serving food safely. Nobody should go out to eat and end up in the hospital less than 24 hours later. Now I'm left dealing with recovery, stress, and expensive medical bills from an experience that should never have happened in the first place. I genuinely hope this restaurant immediately takes a serious look at its food handling and safety practices before someone else goes through something even worse. Lastly, if it were up to me, this place should be shut down until they can guarantee proper food safety standards. I will also be looking into taking legal action because nobody should have to go through something like this from simply going out to eat.

The quest for the best key lime pie in Key West began over dinner on Monday night, when I mentioned wanting to check out Kermit's on my friend Jen's recommendation, lamenting that I never got to enjoy a truly good key lime pie during my first and last visit in 2020. The one I had then was... not good. (I now know the dead giveaway is that it was green). What followed has become a pursuit of principle: truly a noble quest I can get behind. Fast-forward 3 days, and here's our verdict so far, with one contender still to come. Tomorrow night we're headed to Red Shoe Island Bistro for dinner at the insistence of a local who claims it blows Kermit's cheesecake out of the water: 1. Kermit's - The benchmark. Bright, tart, light, and perfectly balanced. 2. Hurricane Hole - Good, but missing the extra punch of tartness that puts Kermit's over the top. 3. El Siboney - Solid, but denser and more cheesecake-like, but also lacking the light, airy tartness of Kermit's. 4. Key Lime Pie Bakery - Forgettable in a town where memorable matters. 5. Matt's Stock Island Kitchen - Overly sweet with virtually no lime (or even lemon) presence. Our slice came boxed with whipped cream and... cherry sauce?! If you'd called it birthday cake, I'd have found that a more accurate description. Might as well call it Diabetes On a Plate. The boys did say this place is located in a beautiful hotel with great view. So there's that. Tomorrow morning, a plan was proposed (that I seconded): we'll stop by Kermit's to grab two slices to go and stash them in the fridge, specifically to revisit after dinner at Red Shoe Bistro as a point of reference. If Red Shoe's pie ends up being too close to call, we'll have no choice but to bring a slice home and do a true, side-by-side comparison in real time. And in the interest of not ending the trip on a sour note if tomorrow night disappoints, at least we'll be leaving Key West on Friday morning with Kermit's key lime pie as our final bite.
