So, I've never had Texas bbq. At least not the real stuff. We have Dallas BBQ's here in nyc, and that, i don't believe, is real Texas bbq lol. So of course, when in Houston, you look for good bbq food, and that's exactly what i wanted! Me and my friend had split the taste of the south which included 4 meats, 4 sides, slices of white bread, pickles and onions. It also came with a bbq sauce as well. We ordered two drinks. Fountain and they had their version of iced tea which was more like kool aid. It was so good. Normally i don't rate restaurants very high because a lot of them missed the mark. This one tho!! Omg! It needs to be higher on the Yelp list. The customer service was 10/10! Top tier. We were welcomed, helped and the employees were so inviting it felt like a welcome home. Which is always nice. We ordered the taste of the south.. the meats and sides we chose were brisket, (8/10 super peppery outside. Pull apart was nice and it was tender). Ribs (9/10) meaty, dry rubbed and delicious! With that added sauce, yes! Yes! Yes! We ordered the mild in house sausage, which were great! It had a little bit of a pepper flavor and it was delicious. Personally, i give the sausage a 7/10, and the star of the show to me was the turkey breast! Omg!! It was smoked to perfection yet the juiciest piece of turkey I've ever had in my life! It was so flavorful, and just all around delicious! (10/10!) the sides we ordered were the potato salad (10/10!!!) that potato salad tasted sooooo good!! The Cajun rice was really good too, the collard greens were also sooo good!! The smoked turkey in the greens were such a hit too. It gave it so much more flavor. The greens were so good you could've drank the juice!! And the bbq sauce was good. I prefer a vinegar based sauce, but i didn't ask for that. So this is what came with our food and it was everything! All in all 10/10! It's blacked owned, a black male chef is in the kitchen and they are cooking up some good stuff!! If you're in Houston, try it out. You won't be disappointed!! See pics below.

Food: Mmmmmm fresh and delicious barbecue 2 meat plate; chicken and ribs with tasty greens and rice. The barbecue sauce and watermelon tea, yeah you heard me right WATERMELON TEA was OMG good!!!! You gotta get you some, lol. Service: I don't have the time or the space to adequately share my experience at this quaint restaurant. I craved barbecue which is not always easy to find on a Sunday. I Googled, read reviews, checked out the menu and made my way to the restaurant. There were vendors setup in front of the building that caught my eye but I was on a mission so I didn't stop. Your girl was hungry . I walked in and was immediately greeted by a yummy aroma followed by a young man with the biggest and most beautiful smile. He helped me place my order and answered all of my 50 million questions. I was so impressed that I asked to speak with the owner. She came out and greeted me, I immediately understood why I was so impressed with the establishment and impeccable service. Atmosphere: Clean, friendly, and the vibes were everything!!! You just have to visit and check out SouthernQ Barbecue for yourself. What are you waiting for??? Get on over there today!!!

Some of the best BBQ in Houston with great service! The staff are always so welcoming and friendly.

Oh my goodness... absolutely delicious! The rib meat quite literally fell off the bone, brisket was moist, and sausage was packed full of Cajun flavor. Potato salad was creamy and tangy. Cajun rice was cooked perfectly and had lots of flavor as well. The banana pudding wasn't too sweet which I liked, though I do wish there were more wafers! The restaurant has a cute rustic aesthetic and there's plenty of seating available. I believe the owner was the one who kept checking in on us which was sweet of him. Very happy to have found this absolute gem of a BBQ restaurant. They will see me back once I get my once a month BBQ craving!

The best BBQ I've had. The bark on the brisket was stellar. The flavor were delicious and kept me wanting more. The whole family loved it. The smokiness was the right amount and added to the overall taste. The sausage was moist, slightly spicy and had that crunchiness you want in the well cooked and prepared sausage. The pulled pork is the best I've ever had - juicy, flavorful, pulled apart yet still has that meaty texture. The side dishes of collard greens, green beans, baked beans and rice were well seasoned and very complementary to the overall meal. I have to admit that I did sip on the BBQ sauce as it was so delicious. however all the meat and dishes stand on their own, so I didn't need it at all to enjoy all the flavors. The atmosphere inside is inviting and gives you that authentic feel. The bathrooms were clean and presentable. The tables were clean and welcoming. The BBQ smell isn't overwhelming anything it's present. The parking lot is large although I bet this place can get busy so you might need to be patient. I arrived at 2pm on Wednesday so there wasn't a line. I highly recommend this place! I'll definitely be back. Note my rating system: 1 Star: I wouldn't recommend 2 Stars: Didn't hit my standards 3 Stars: Average (nothing special) 4 Stars: Above Average. Would recommend. Still looking for the 5 Star. 5 Stars: Top of their game. Great food. Great service. Would recommend and plan on returning.

Service is always good , the food is so delicious, I love their potato with brisket. It's the best I ever had. Their sweet tea is good .

PSA: SouthernQ still slaps. That's right, I'm updating my review from last year after grabbing a few items for dinner last night. Their brisket bark is still craveable, offering a smoky, peppery, flavorful shell for the juicy meat beneath. The greens are still to my personal vinegar preference, and this time I splurged on the both the cornbread and grilled corn- worth it. This time, a family member picked up our meal, but if you've yet to meet the owners, you really haven't tried this spot. While the food is good, the warm hospitality is better! While we all have dozens of bbq options to consider, if you've yet to visit this one, you're missing out!

I wanted a bake potato and this came up as I was leaving the airport. When arriving the food smelled amazing as soon as I opened my car door. They have outside tables as well as indoor. The ambiance was laid back and chill listening to the smooth old school R and B. the restrooms were very clean and well stocked. I order the turkey potato and it was a nice size. It was hot and delicious. It comes with bacon chives sour cream butter and cheese. I opted to get my bbq sauce on the side. The bbq sauce had a slight sweet to it but was not overly sweet just how I like it. I will be returning when in the area to try different things. It's a little more pricey than some other bbq places around Houston but for good food I don't mind paying to bill the belly.

Customer service is the best and the food is on point. I got the 2 meat plate ribs and mixed brisket (moist and lean) with collard greens and baked beans. It was to go order because I was going eat at home and rest my eyes

Can't go wrong with whatever you order. Also, their takeout is fast and ontime. This outfit is family owned and run. They have learned their craft well.

I hate when I find places like this. I know I'm going back despite rejections and objections from my frugal meter. My New Orleans soul wants to find good food that is really inexpensive. I know that our social climate has made meat prices skyrocket over the last few years...but a vegetarian lifestyle is not fat man friendly. I go to this place and they have a constant group of people coming in and out. That's a good sign. I saw all racial groups in here... that's another really good sign. I saw a board on the ground that had specials on it...my frugal meter really liked seeing that! Any meat based place is going to make me frugal meter scream...and this place was no different. I wondered if the pricing was going to match the taste...well... I'll tell you this: 1. These people are really friendly and professional. I think the purposely hire all cute ladies! One lady said she was the owner, but she looked like an Instagram model...I think they are making certain males come back my having a good looking staff and good looking food. 2. This food is not the type of food that will spike your vitals and having your primary care physician scoffing at you. The food has light seasoning so you can enjoy the food and enjoy it often. This is a bbq joint and they didn't even try to hide behind a bbq sauce... which the bbq sauce was really delicious. They gave it to me as a side dipping sauce. The boudin even had a nice flavor with a slight spice kick at the end. It's a good Texas take on a Louisiana staple. I like the addition of firecracker crackers to enjoy the item. Even the homemade pound cake with lemon icing was not overly sweet. You can eat that with no guilt creeping in. 3. If you dine in, you have access to unlimited refills on your drink. All in all, this friendly staff will provide you with good eats. If you already are used to paying the prices for bbq now and days, you will have minimal complaints here. Despite my frugal meter yelling when I go there, I'll just hope their frequent eater program can give me the discounts I think will be needed to make my frugal meter pipe down! Go here and tell me what you think of the place.

The young lady at the front did her best to accommodate us by apologizing, giving us a free cobbler and juice for the little one. We ordered a few different things: fried whole wings, dirty rice, yams, cabbage, mango habanero wings, fries, red beans and rice and Kool-aide. The fried wings, rice, fries and cabbage were well seasoned- you could taste the butter in them. My son wasn't crazy about the red beans n rice or mango habanero wings. He said it was more beans than rice and the wings lacked flavor. The Kool -aide was super sweet (as expected), but I added water to make it more palatable. While waiting we talked to some other guests Who decided to wait. Later the cook came out and chatted a bit- he was nice. Overall, food is good just come with patience.

When we arrived, the host let us choose where we wanted to sit. I originally spotted a cozy booth by the window, but since we were asked if we'd like to sit where we could watch the TV during the Cup match, we opted for one of the high-top tables instead. Unfortunately, that turned out to be a mistake because there isn't any lighting at the high tables. We could barely see our food. Adding pendant or drop-down lighting above those tables would make a huge difference. If you plan to visit, I'd recommend requesting a regular table or booth for better lighting. The menu is definitely unique, though I found it somewhat limited compared to other seafood restaurants. To start, I ordered the roasted oysters while my friend had a dozen raw oysters with all the traditional fixings. The roasted oysters were delicious, but there was so much topping that it almost took the shine away from the oysters themselves. Next time, I'd ask for lighter toppings and no scallions. For my entrée, I had the Halfshell Grilled Redfish. The fish itself was cooked beautifully--moist, flaky, and perfectly prepared. The only downside was the chermoula, which leaned far too heavily on the citrus. The lemon flavor completely overpowered the fish. As my side, I ordered the Chicken and Andouille Sausage Gumbo. Unfortunately, it had a distinct burnt taste, which made it seem like the roux had been overcooked. A good gumbo should have a deep, rich flavor, but this one was overshadowed by that burnt note. My friend ordered the Jerk Fish Collars, and we both agreed they would have been much better if the fish had been marinated to allow the jerk seasoning to really penetrate. I also ordered a Lemon Drop Martini, and I have to admit I was surprised when it arrived in such a tiny martini glass, especially considering the price. Overall, the quality of the seafood is evident, and the restaurant has a great atmosphere. I think a few adjustments to the lighting, better balance in some of the flavors, and more attention to details like the gumbo and cocktail portions would elevate the experience even further. I'd definitely return to try more of the menu and hope for a more polished experience next time.

I bring family and friends here all the time along with business partners. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Houston, Texas. You will experience the best food and the best service here every single time! Today was the first time I decided to get some food to go. Bradley was an absolute professional. While I was leaving, Johnny Carrabba came out and talked to me for a second. What a nice guy. Full of natural charisma. Reminds me of an old wise guy from casino or Goodfellas. We had a great conversation. I told him how my grandmother was born in Bryan Texas in 1927. He told me about his family that migrated there in 1905. He also mentioned his family had a store on Canal Street. I had no idea. An exceptional person, a legend in the restaurant industry here in Houston, Texas. It was great to meet you today Johnny. Thank you for your professionalism and hospitality and also thank you for serving some of the best food in Houston, Texas! Food: as you can see from all my pictures of the food is simply amazing. The best cornbread in the world. The best pot roast. The best sticky ribs. The best desserts. Everything here is phenomenal. Lunch dinner brunch you cannot go wrong. It was an absolute pleasure to meet Bradley and Johnny today I've been coming to this location for years and I will continue to come and support this restaurant.

I've been here a few times before, and being a sucker for second chances, I wanted to see if things…read morehad improved from my last visit, thankfully, they have. Feels good when an establishment takes pride in their customer's feedback and puts a plan into action. Honestly, part of me was hoping that last time was just a fluke or an off day. This time around, everything from the service to the food was great. We had a 12:30 Sunday reservation for two and opted to sit inside this time. We ordered the cast-iron cornbread, chargrilled oysters, and a cup of gumbo each to start. For entrées, I had the Gulf Fish, while my husband went with the crawfish Florentine. Everything came out beautifully timed, almost like a perfectly paced three-course meal, which obviously made the whole experience feel elevated and relaxed. Our waiter was knowledgeable, attentive, and on top of everything without being overbearing. I also tried the prickly pear aid (non-alcoholic), and it was super refreshing, definitely worth ordering if you like a little tartness to cleanse your palate. Overall, this visit felt like a completely different experience than last time. It delivered the elevated experience a place like Eunice promises and what I was used to originally. Looking forward to celebrating my birthday here in June!

Unfortunately, the overall dining experience was disappointing due to both the service and the food quality. Our server was very slow throughout the evening. After ordering cocktails, it took approximately 20 minutes for them to arrive. We then ordered our meals... I had the burger and fries, while my girlfriend ordered the shrimp and grits. Both dishes were noticeably over salted. After finishing our meals, we waited an additional 15-20 minutes just to receive a dessert menu. Eventually, we decided not to wait any longer and went to Dessert Gallery down the street instead. While the atmosphere and appearance of the restaurant were excellent, the slow service and food issues negatively impacted the experience. Based on this visit, I would likely not return.

So I quite naturally ordered the max. piece catfish (3 pc.) with fries and greens, and OMG! The flavor, the crispiness! Just like I fry it! Excellent customer service! Needless to say, this is now my "catfish spot" whenever I visit the area again. For dessert, I had the peach cobbler. Another hit! So balanced with flavor and sweetness! My family had the oxtails and blackened salmon. They are licking their fingers! Why is this place not rated a perfect 5?! You better believe they get 5 stars from me! Earned! (Sorry, I ate my fish and peach cobbler before I realized I didn't take a pic. And the presentation was magnificent on all plates!)

I ordered the turkey wings which came with rice & 2sides with cornbread. I got the black eyed peas & greens with no meat in my greens. The standout for me were the black eyed peas. They were excellent. Everything else was just ok. I liked that everything wasn't overly salty. It just lacked that extra kick. The serving sizes were pretty good & I have plenty leftovers. I would be back again to try another dish because I feel for soul food this was pretty healthy because it was overly salty.
