    House made onion rings
    Joe T.

A serous looking dive with hard to figure out parking. Don't let that stop you. Park at the house next door (signs say it's for Parenton parking only) or on the street. It's a small, run down looking building but very clean. Counter service is great and food was delivered quickly. (Okay - well the crusty old lady at the counter is nice to the customers, but her patience is worn all the way out with the kitchen staff. The way they're going at it, they must be related.) House made onion rings are super thin cut and hot and fresh from the fryer. Very good. A little ketchup and a shot of Perique pepper sauce on them is perfect. (I've never seen Perique before, but it's good.) The small shrimp po-boy is not small. But it's hot and fresh on crusty Leidenheimer bread. The shrimp are fresh and perfectly fried. No tiny frozen gumbo shrimp here. Dressed means lettuce, tomato, pickles and a heavy dose of mayonnaise. Oh so good. I'm not in this area often, so I originally headed to the joint next door because I knew it was okay. So glad they were closed today and I discovered this gem instead. I think you will be, too.

There was nothing left of a roast beef po-boy!

The roast beef poor boy was so good I am thinking about it more than two years later. Can't wait to go back next time in New Orleans.

Service was also a bit rude and rushed and we were the only ones ordering. 2 coffees and 2 sandwiches were $27.50 I likely won't recommend or go out of my way to go back. New Orleans has some high coffee competition in my opinion and this place just didn't do it for me.

This is what I would call a Orleans Parish fancy coffee shop setting with home made meals and coffee in Jefferson. You feel like you are in New Orleans as it is a raised house, with high ceilings, wooden creeky floors, door locks that barely work for the bathroom, and even live music. I have been coming here monthly since the summer and it is a small business owned by a woman who makes her own pickles and cookies with sea salt and coffees. Since it is small, they sometimes run out of items so if your heart is set on something call ahead. She has the most incredible pulled pork cheesy biscuit. Again, sometimes the cheesy biscuit is out, but the regular biscuit is just fine. The home made pickles are truly incredible. My hubby does not like pickles and he craves these. There is a sweetness to them, it isn't all vinegary. And the owner is considering selling them on the side soon. The cookie is a chocolate chip cookie that she adds seastalt to that enhances the flavor. The salad I had, she was out of the particular greens, but the salad was amazing too! The coffee I had was a caramel or something style, it was so good, I got it in cold and hot latte style! I love the teal truck outside that matches the door. The place is clean inside. There are steps to get into the place, there are about 5 or 6 small tables inside, there is a porch with a couple of small tables as well. Prices are on par with any other Orleans parish coffee shop, and parking is off street parking and is across the street which is basically Causeway.

Chef Chad took great care of us and explained a lot of the thought behind some menu items They had a great drink special of $3 beers and $6 cocktails going on. We tried the wings w a salt and vinegar dry rub n garlic jalapeño ranch which were fried perfectly n crispy n flavorful on their own but the jalapeño ranch was a great compliment The Kala was so good, chef explained he went for a corn max choux savory Kala and they were sooooo tasty with a savory flavor and sweetness from the corn. We got grilled pork chops which were a generous portion and super tasty w a delicious chutney served with them. I also couldn't decide between the fried green tomato blt and the burger so I asked if he'd add the burger to the blt and he did and it was so flavorful and delicious! The sides were all 10/10s for me also, I'm super picky about fries and almost asked to sub them out for something but I'm glad I didn't. They were amazing!!!!! The collard greens, yams, and baked Mac and cheese were soooooooooooooooo good! Only regret is being too full to try dessert but the yams did scratch that itch for something sweet.
