    House made onion rings
    Joe T.

A serous looking dive with hard to figure out parking. Don't let that stop you. Park at the house next door (signs say it's for Parenton parking only) or on the street. It's a small, run down looking building but very clean. Counter service is great and food was delivered quickly. (Okay - well the crusty old lady at the counter is nice to the customers, but her patience is worn all the way out with the kitchen staff. The way they're going at it, they must be related.) House made onion rings are super thin cut and hot and fresh from the fryer. Very good. A little ketchup and a shot of Perique pepper sauce on them is perfect. (I've never seen Perique before, but it's good.) The small shrimp po-boy is not small. But it's hot and fresh on crusty Leidenheimer bread. The shrimp are fresh and perfectly fried. No tiny frozen gumbo shrimp here. Dressed means lettuce, tomato, pickles and a heavy dose of mayonnaise. Oh so good. I'm not in this area often, so I originally headed to the joint next door because I knew it was okay. So glad they were closed today and I discovered this gem instead. I think you will be, too.

There was nothing left of a roast beef po-boy!

We ordered the shrimp and grits and the étouffée, and both were sooo good. Honestly 10/10. Everything was full of flavor and absolutely hit the spot. My favorite thing we got was definitely the veggie red beans and rice. It was very balanced and cooked well. I was very excited to try their shrimp and grits, but it wasn't that great. The grits were quite grainy and didn't taste cheesy as described. They weren't creamy at all and really tasted like plain barely salted grits that could have been cooked a bit longer. The shrimp was flavorful and the sear on the outside was nice, but they were quite overcooked and tough. There was a much higher ratio of grits to shrimp and gravy than you would want, especially given the grits were not that good. However, my husband absolutely loved the chicken pasta and said it was one of the best he has ever had. They definitely can make good food but I would skip the shrimp and grits. The lemonade I ordered was also incredibly watery. The service was efficient and good overall, but very impersonal and bare minimum. Definitely efficiency prioritized over true dinner service. Not bad but not what I expected.

I've never had crawfish and seeing it was crawfish season we were destined to be here. We built out our own seafood boil, which included, 1lb shrimp head off, 2 soft shell crab clusters, 1lb crawfish, corn, potato, and sausage. Let's just say we left with a pretty big leftovers box We ordered the hot house flavor and do not regret it one bit! Our server was so kind to show us how to peel and eat the crawfish and honestly it was so fun!! I will definitely be back next time in New Orleans!! One quick note I will say that I learned from a local that I wish I knew before this feast (And you should double check with staff if this info is correct). Most seafood boil places in the area when they have headless shrimp it is farmed and brought in from outside retailers where if you get head-on it's from local ships in the area/fresh caught. Apparently they've been struggling and if you want to support New Orleans local fisherman then go for the head-on shrimp. Again double check with staff if their head-on shrimp is local cuz I learned this information after visiting.

Took 30 min into the meal to receive the gumbo we ordered. Server would disappear for 20/30 min increments. As our meal we ordered snow crab slam - the shell was seasoned but meat was bland. Also tried the jumbo shrimp plate with fried rice, rice was very dry! Overall disappointing for 1st time in New Orleans. Ps. Restrooms were filthy!!!!
