Very cute country cafe for breakfast and lunch. The menu has a nice selection of breakfast and lunch options. The staff are friendly and get orders out quickly. We bought a variety baked goods. Everything in the bakery case looked amazing. We also ordered a breakfast sandwich and a muffuletta. Both were tasty and the muffuletta was huge. I'd definitely recommend grabbing a bite here. Came in on a Saturday around 10:30am. The restaurant was quaint and neat. Came with a friend for coffee and a treat to go. Our server was super friendly and answered all our questions. I ordered the espresso scone and the Carmel donut (?) and two coffees. Our friend got the lemon bar. Black coffee was a little weak for me but was served hot. The lemon bar was delicious. The caramel donut was fantastic-ooey and gooey. The espresso scone-so full of chocolate chips and humongous. The lemon bar-tart with a great crust. The bagel bomb is my next selection. This place was a great find! I had one of the bombs and it was delicious. It was turkey, pesto, sun-dried tomatoes and cheese and OMG, yummm! My husband had a turkey sandwich and that was also delicious. My son had a cinnamon raisin bagel which was also good. The cookies are amazing. I am bummed I didn't get some pastries to-go, as they all looked delicious. We will definitely be back next time we are out that way!! read more

After a hike to Bassi Falls we stopped by the Southfork 1848 Eatery & Bakeshop for a late lunch. The food was so fresh and the sandwiches were handmade. I opted for The Carnitas Bomb and OMG, what a delicious and filling meal it was. Plenty leftover for my dinner that night. A client took us to lunch here last week. The food and service were excellent. I had the salad with no added meat. I'm a big eater and found the salad to be filling and tasty. I was disappointed by the dressings not available, although listed on the menu. It should be noted this establishment is anti-dog. Signs are posted indicating no dogs allowed inside or on the porch. There was a great selection of baked goods including gluten free. My wife has the gluten free blueberry muffin and ate it down to the last crumb. read more

This is a favorite stop of my mine on the way to and from Tahoe. It is a small cafe on the main Pollock Pines road down a short distance from the large Safeway. It is a bit of a hidden treasure since it is set back a bit. I have had wonderful breakfast burritos, homemade soups and incredible pastires -- never a disappointment as everything is freshly made. The ladies are always so welcoming and the coffee is the best I have had so don't bother with the Starbucks in Safeway! Please support this local business! read more

First, the quality was good. However, I thought $11 for a baked muffin and a plain coffee was too expensive. I saw no posted prices so I don't know what cost what. Don't be fooled by the simple outdoor look of this eatery! We had a bowl of the Mexican chicken soup and were so impressed and happy. Served with sour cream and cheese on top with tortilla chips on the side. It was homemade with huge pieces of chicken --a great way to warm up in the snow. The baked goods are over the top. All freshly baked and amply sized. Unfortunately I do not eat sweets but it neatly made me go off the wagon. My husband had a beautiful shortbread cookie dipped in ganache.
