Pleasantly surprised! We stopped here on a whim on our way back from South Lake Tahoe, after a round of golf. Walked in, not expecting much, but at least some decent food to feed our hungry belly's. It was Saturday evening around 615ish, front of house was running around, but when she spotted us, showed us to our table, gave menus, and apologized as it might be a minute before our server would be able to take our orders because it has suddenly gotten busier than expected (large place but only about 1/4 full, but with 2 large groups, one of which was just seated before us) she came back with waters while we looked at the menu. Once our server came she was polite and took our drink order, promising to be back to take our food order. Understandably it took longer than usual to come back, so another man came to take our order. He apologized for the wait and said he would be happy to take our orders. We think he was the manager or possibly owner, really nice gentleman. We ordered the tiger prawns and Brussels sprouts appetizers, I ordered fish n chips, my husband ordered the rib eye with Mac n cheese and our friend ordered the salmon. The Tiger Prawns and Brussels came out first and the tiger prawns were amazing! 5 large tiger prawns, a couple pcs of toasted baguette, and in a type of white wine garlic Alfredo sauce type. The sauce was perfection, as I dipped each bite of prawn and soaked the accompanied bread. The Brussels were just as amazing, fried to have a nice crisp to it, but not soaking in oil, so they must've been fried in the perfect temp oil or something, and the glaze was just right (a lot of places just drench them in glaze as they're sitting there soaked in oil, but not the case here!) The ribeye was cooked very well (medium rare) and the hubby thought the salt level was PERFECT. It was a little salty for me, but I don't like a lot of salt. My husband almost always orders a good steak when available, and he thought it was great. The accompanying side of veggies were great too! Heavy on the garlic, but we love garlic so we thought it was perfect. The fish n chips were good, fries were ok, but not my style. They were more like shoe string fries, but that's their thing and a lot of people like that style. The tartar sauce was surprisingly good, and not just that cheap store bought stuff a lot of places tend to give. Friend with the salmon said it was good and ate it all. The gentleman that took our order forgot to add the fish n chips, but quickly rectified it, apologizing and bringing out some fries for me to munch on as the fish was getting cooked. Not a big deal to me, as I was already happy with the other items we had. He also came to our table once we were done and chatted with us for a bit, which was very nice of him. Overall the food was pretty good and would recommend stopping here if you have a chance when you have some time to relax while you eat. The staff are all nice personable. Decent restaurant in small town pollock pines. It's a big restaurant and bar. Has an old western vibe with very nice chairs and wagon wheels and old saws and stuff around. It's a bit of an old timey place with classic American food like burgers, steaks, spaghetti, meatloaf. The food is good. Not anything really special, but it's well seasoned, and cooked well. They have a full cocktail bar. The servers are all pretty nice. I come every now and then when I'm feeling too lazy to cook and want something different. read more

We go to 50 Grand almost every Friday night. The variety of specials we have experienced has been phenomenal. Poke Nachos to Fried Chicken to Catfish Curry Stir Fry, it's been special to experience these dishes. Prime Rib was very tough! Took 1 hour to get our food for a party of 4. Not busy at all. Several table were empty. Waitress was wonderful in personality but service was extremely slow. Forget ordering a 2nd drink because that was not happening! Automatic 15% gratuity added to your bill whether service was good or not! We enjoyed our experience. Bartender and server were very accommodating and friendly. I enjoyed the bacon meatloaf served with roasted veggies and mashed potatoes. My potatoes were cold. Some would be turned off but I ate them, no problem. Also enjoyed the veggie burger with fries. The fries had a strangely familiar McDonald's taste. They were good. . All of our friends enjoyed their meals. It was very sleepy and we closed the place down. The ladies in our group loved the heated seats in the restrooms. Now that's different! I had the filet mignon appetizer with a side salad. My husband had the fish and chips with a side salad. Both of our meals were delicious. Of course, I stole half of my husband's "chips" because they're the skinny fries that are crispy. Yum! The service was attentive. We also enjoyed mocktails: the Moscow mule and blackberry sunrise. Food was unreal good! Had a cup of the bacon Mac n cheese and I knew I was entering flavor town USA and the next stop was a deep fried prime rib!! The country fried prime rib was amazing! Every bite was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Just thinking of it makes me want to go back now! The staff was also great. Had a pleasant convo with our waiter throughout the meal. But not in an annoying way. And they were very attentive. Lastly the place seems brand new even though I know it's been there for years. One of our favorite spots! A varied menu that has options for everyone. We have tried many things and each dish has been very good. Pasta, steak, meatloaf, cheeseburger, fish and chips. Tops in our opinion are the French fries, ribs and the deep fried prime rib. On our most recent visit, we arrived later than we planned, (had to replace our kitchen faucet) so there was only 15 minutes until posted closing time, the restaurant was empty, but the staff (Abby is the best!) was very kind and welcoming to us providing top notch service, despite the late hour. The food was great as always, we each had a mid-week special ($15 each for the meatloaf, spaghetti w/meatball, cheeseburger or fish n'chips) The coffee is great, when we've had dessert they're good, but rarely have room, as the meals are generous. Great place to get some lunch! Stopped by this wonderful place in downtown Pollock Pines for a sandwich. The waiter recommended the Reuben and it was delicious. Just the right amount of thinly sliced pastrami with cheese and sauerkraut. Loved the thin fries. Sorry no pic. Was hungry! Great vibe.Friendly and efficient staff. Loved the wooden beam ceilings. What a gem!!! Superb little restaurant, great food, nice decor and outstanding service. Visited with the grandchildren for dinner. I had the 8 ounce filet mignon, perfectly cooked, tender and very flavorful. Grilled vegetables and grilled potatoes were the perfect complement. My wife had the ribeye and again perfectly cooked and flavorful. Decor is nicely done, clean and neat. Our server was very attentive. Nice Ambiance, Good Service. She had the RED wine, I had a whiskey sour. We had 2 appetizers. The artichoke dip was good. It comes with bread squares for dipping. We had the Filet Mignon skewers, which were amazing. Her Entre was the bacon stuffed meatloaf and mashed potatoes. I had the lamb lollipops, you get 4, and a fresh salad, instead of veggies. We had a mini loaf of the fresh bread, don't skip that. On the lamb sauce. It was alright, but the teriyaki sauce that came with the filet was way better. So I used that. We got some lemon cheesecake to go and finished our 48th anniversary desert at home. Next time, I will revisit the filet as a main course. read more

We noticed that all the staff were knowledgeable of the menu and very attentive to the customers. When we go out the level of service is as important as the food. If you like over priced COLD food, then you'll love 50 Grand Restaurant and Bar. I had the 18oz Rib-eye steak dinner, 59 bucks, it took about 25 mins to get our food. The steak was served with a small helping of veggies and everything was COLD like it sat for over 15 mins.
