On our way back to Sacramento from South Lake Tahoe, we stopped to get gas, and my husband said, "Go get a coffee, babe." I'm so glad he did! I walked into this adorable little coffee shop Camino Coffee Mill and was immediately greeted with a huge smile by the gentleman behind the bar. He was incredibly friendly, struck up a conversation, and made me feel genuinely welcome from the moment I walked in. I didn't catch his name, but he provided amazing customer service. I ordered an iced mocha, and it was made quickly and tasted absolutely delicious--exactly what I needed for the drive home! It's always refreshing to find a place with both great coffee and even better customer service. If you're passing through the area or live nearby, I definitely recommend stopping in. I stop by this coffee shop from time to time and, overall, I have received friendly service. However, the experience can be inconsistent. Some days the staff is welcoming, attentive, and genuinely pleasant, while on other days the level of service seems to depend entirely on the mood of the barista. The quality of a coffee can bring customers in, but consistency in kindness and professionalism is what keeps them coming back. A smile, respect, and a positive attitude are just as important as the drink being served. It seems that since tipping became something requested before the service is even provided, a bit of the humility and gratitude that once defined great customer service has been lost. What a delightful surprise! This place is very unassuming from the outside so when I first drove past I didn't know what to expect. After a long day hanging out in Apple Hill I wanted some coffee for my trip back home to Vallejo and I didn't want coffee from a franchised spot (I prefer to support local cafes whenever possible, I really enjoy spots with more of a personal community vibe) so I was lucky to come across Camino Coffee Mill. The Camino Coffee Mill is modern in style but it's not pretentious and feels like you're getting coffee while on vacation (you'll get what I'm mean once you go and see for yourself.) The barista was very friendly and patient (it always takes me a bit longer when visiting a place the first time.) While waiting for my order I saw how they made their mocha and I'd wished one (it's usually one of my go toes but I went with something different) she must have noticed the look on my face because she offered to convert my latte into a mocha just so I could have the drink I really wanted (such a kind gesture!) She also shared with me some backstory on history of the cafe and how the cafe is owned by a local couple (who bought it right before getting married) and who also owns the pizza spot right next door (which I'll be trying on my next visit!) I'm so glad I took a chance on this spot and can't wait to try another drink from their menu (maybe a chai!) Good coffee find alert! This is the place. I always make an effort to avoid Starbucks at all costs because there are so much better coffee joints out there. On a long drive back from Tahoe to the city, I was utterly relieved to have chanced upon this cozy coffee shop for an iced latte. The coffee was superb and was of a medium roast that tickled my taste buds and had the perfect coffee to ice ratio (I appreciated this greatly on this exceptionally hot day- not too much ice, but just enough to keep it chilled and not overly watered down by the time I finished). Will surely be back to soak in the ambiance of this spot and to try thier pastries and highly recommend to anyone passing through for a nice pick me up! read more

We were so excited when this shop opened because it's the closest one to us, but the pricing and espresso setup make the drinks hard to justify. A large latte only comes with two shots, which isn't typical -- most places include three in a large. When you try to add just one more, you can't, because they only pull double shots and require you to pay for a full double. After adding vanilla and that extra double shot, my drink came out to $11, and even then it still tasted more like a glass of milk than a proper latte. I really wanted to love this place, but the way the drinks are structured makes it hard to feel like you're getting good value. read more

Cute coffee place. Staff is friendly and welcoming. They are decently quick and run smooth. However, I had to update my previous review because their drinks have gone down hill. Their mocha's are terrible, I ordered an iced mocha and it was bitter, there were like 5 ice cubes in it, making it super milky and warm. Yuck. Also tried their pumpkin iced late and that was terrible. Used to be one of my favorite coffee shops but after the last two orders I don't think I will be back. read more

First off, the coffee is great. They get their beans from a local roaster in Tahoe. They have food like pastries, breakfast burritos, empanadas, bagels, etc that delicious! On top of that, it's a local business who supports other local businesses and everyone who works here is super nice. Great Service! Super friendly! There is wonderful tree-trunk tables and the lighting is perfect for studying. I don't really like the to-go cups, because I prefer "for here" cups.
