DO NOT GO HERE: 1. It is dirty. Like dust the freakin' place once in awhile. They only clean the pedicure chairs, and I wondered if they did that. 2. They have no bathroom. Um, what? No they have one . . . you just can't use it. What? Yes . . . they send you next door to Starbucks! 3. They wash their mouths in the same sink you have to wash your hands when getting your nails done. Gross. I saw it . . . and wanted to get up and leave. 4. They bug you to pay. Maybe I'm too comfortable with myself maybe I'm just to sexy for you beeches LOL! I walked into Southland nails and the ladies in the salon loved me me. My lady friend was like wow aren't you popular. Then suggested I get my toes painted. I laughed it off and hopped in the massage chair and let my feet soak in the whirl pool. I'm not sure who helped me but she was great. Told me I had nice nails and suggested I get my nails painted. I smiled and told the old lady clear or buff. You know she was kind presitant about painting my nails but I just let my hands soak in the warm water just a little bit longer and let the other lady work on feet. As the only guy in the shop it was kind of fun to ear hustle on the girl gossip and drama in these chicks lives. I got busted for ear hustling but it was cool. I even took my mani pedi experience to the next level and got my toes painted Jay-Z blue. Well maybe not Jay- Z blue but a nice shade of blue. Don't go here! Save your money! I came here for a mani pedi with a friend. The woman who did my toes did a decent job. The manicure on the other hand took two different people to come up within a half hour just to file and "shape my nails". She filed vigorously at my nails talking to her coworker pointing outside and laughing. She filed soo short my thumbs hurt! I cancelled my manicure right away!! I've been here a bunch of times mostly because it's super close to my house. Issues: 1. Lady doing a gel fill on my nails, drilled too hard on the side of my nail and cut my finger. It started bleeding. Ok fine I guess that happens. She made a q-tip with a piece of cotton ball from her pocket and a wooden stick from her work station drawer. Then put some solution on it to help disinfect and stop the bleeding. My blood was all over the q-tip. Instead of putting it in the trash, she put it back in her work station drawer. This makes me sick to my stomach because she could of used the wooden stick to clean up someone else's blood and replaced the cotton. I wonder if it'll be used for someone else's cuts? What other contaminants or bio hazards are festering in her drawer, the workstations, the shop? 2. I've arrived at 9 am, which is their opening time, and waited until 930 am before I left because no one was there. 3. I've seen foot scrubs being shared between clients at neighboring chairs without proper cleaning. 4. Don't bother making appointments. They don't mean anything. No names are taken down, no phone numbers, no times. It's a joke. They should just say walk ins only. The whole place screams infection. Would give zero stars if possible. I live very close to here so it's convenient to pop in and get a mani/pedi. The last few times I've been they've mangled my cuticles. I got my most recent manicure almost a week ago and all week my cuticles have been peeling, cracking, and hurt so much. I'm not sure what they do, but I won't be going back anymore. I got a gel manicure and it's already chipping. The white on my french tips is turning an orange color. It's just a disaster! Definitely not worth $30. When I walked in I asked how long and they said 5 minutes. They put me in a pedicure chair and I sat there for 20+ minutes before anyone came over to help me. read more

I watched them clean the tools in between clients and it was a simple movement with a sterile brush and a few blows to dry it off then put into a sterile bag. I wish I noticed this before they started. Then I felt completely rushed and don't feel I got a pedicure felt like I paid $22 to paint my toes. My friend was next to me getting a pedicure she started 10 minutes before me and I was done before her. So unhappy definitely getting another pedicure this week which is very irritating. read more

Southland and I have had a love/hate relationship. The place is a bit run down evident by the worn out seats. The wax room isn't the cleanest and the workers aren't the sweetest. But they always put time in to help dig out my ingrown toenail (tmi, sorry). But really, I have it painfully bad at times and I can always rely on any of the workers to put extra love into it. Prettier spas and salons just don't put in the effort that Southland does. So my loyalty will be with Southland. read more

For the price it's not bad. I went here as a last resort for a mani/pedi. I love the pedi that I got, very good...but the french mani that i got was mediocre. Don't think I'd go here for special occasions, but it's a good place to go to when you need a mani/pedi in a jiffy... Oh and the biggest plus is that they take credit cards! I had a great experience here. Had them remove my old acrylic set.. Painless. They had the patience to soak them in acetone unlike other places where they'd rip it off and destroy your nails. They did an awesome job on my nails. I'll definitely go back. read more

This is one of my go-to places for a full-set acrylic, and my friend's go-to salon for a full-set gel. They charge a little bit more than usual for the full-sets, but I'm always happy with the outcome. The nails are always flat and clean looking, and the salon is just as clean. They do almost everything here, and charge a fair price for a pedi. They also have the lovely spa chairs for pedis that I love. This is definitely a place worth trying. read more

So I've been visiting Southland off and on for years and I have to update and say that the regular mani's are great! I'm on my 8th day and my manicure still looks good! The pedi's are basic and can be disappointing if you're picky like me. They are now offering gellish and I've gotten it done once. I prefer shellac (from another nail salon) since it looks more natural. Also, the gellish didn't turn out to be cost effective for me since I paid $30 for something that only lasted 2 weeks before it started growing out. With those $30 I could've gotten 3 weeks worth of $10 manis. I guess if you don't have the time to get a weekly mani, gellish would be a good option for you but otherwise skip it! And side note: you should know better than to get ANYTHING waxed at a nail salon. You're just asking for something to go wrong! As tempting and convenient as it sounds do yourself a favor and find somewhere else!!! read more

Okay so I wouldn't say its as good as it gets for everyone, but for me I am in love. I was use to going to the same man for 10 years and he had my nails done to the T. He decided to change his line of work and so I had been on the hunt for the right price and good nail shop. I only see CINDY and love her work. Currently getting ready for a wedding and was on a tight budget so I took a trip to the mission and cheated on Southland Nails. Big mistake, you pay for what you get. They looked cheap and ugly the women had no care that I was not satisfied with the job, guess they don't do much gel nails in the mission. I called Cindy close to closing only 30 mins before, and she said she still would take me since the wedding is the next day. She totally took care of me, I was so sorry I thought I could CHEAT, I will never do it again. The experience I got is the best for me wouldn't go else where. read more

I have been coming here for about a year now and I have to say the service and the quality of their work has been getting progressively worse and worse with each visit. The manicures are sloppy, and the nail polish cracks on the second day already. The pedicure was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! they should not be charging $20! My last experience there was bad. I felt like I was rushed, my nails and toes were painted sloppily, I did not get the hand and leg massage that is included in the mani/pedi package and after i tipped them, they discussed between themselves how my tip was not enough!!! Decided to come here because the place I originally wanted to go to was busy.. I should of just waited for another day because the work here was very poor. My acrylic nails are very thick and I've gotten acrylics many times before so I know they're not suppose to be like that. Also, they're a little un even. As for my pedicure, the paint is very messy and un even as well. My sister even thought I did them myself smh. This is my second time trying this place because it is walking distance from my new home. Customer service is absolutely terrible! You walk in and no one greets you, they can't seem to figure out a comfortable temperature for pedicure water, the pedicures overall are subpar and the laziness to speak or learn English is irritating and disrespectful. The tech barely files and scrubs your feet and the so-called massage is embarrassing. The kicker is when they seem offended that you don't give them a tip! My tip is this damn review! This place needs some serious training on cleanliness, customer service and technique. I could do a better pedicure in the shower than the service they provide! I want to write a review because I've been coming here since I was 14 and my mom let me get my nails done! I grew up down the street, now a days I usually don't get my nails done anymore, only for special occasions and I just get the gel shellac and not tips added, they usually give me a hard time because I like my nails shorter than short, but that's just me personal preference, and they always do what I want which is why I go there and they do a great job. If you are looking for crazy designs I'm not sure this is the place to go, although they do do designs they just have the basics. But they give a great manicure.! I'm my opinion.! But I mainly return to this location to get my eyebrows done.! I don't even know the girls name who always does my brows and she's been doing them for the last 9+ years! And she always does them flawlessly! I recently moved to San Jose and I will wait until I can get a chance to drive up to Pacifica to get them done because I do not trust anyone.! read more

Really not a great place to go. I came here out of my desperate need to get my nails done before vacation. I have been avoiding this place like the plague because I once got my eyebrows waxed here and no joke the lady said "oops" right after she ripped off the wax. My one eyebrow is sad and messed up now and has never grown back in right so I avoided this place because I was super frustrated. Anyways, the place I regularly go to didn't have the silver glitter gel polish I really wanted for a particular nail idea I saw on Pinterest. I was in a time crunch since I was leaving for vacation that Saturday and wouldn't have another day available to get my nails done. The nails looked nice, however, the white gel polish turned a disgusting yellow gray color within that same week (does that happen with white gel normally?) and I couldn't stand to look at them, plus a nail broke (which is really odd since my natural nails hardly ever break). Definitely not worth it to pay $30 for a gel manicure that turns out icky and needs to be redone the next week. My gel manicures normally last me two weeks without chipping, sadly this is not the case here at Southland. read more

I live near this nail salon so of course I'd give it a try. It was my first and last visit. This place has the most uninviting feel to it. I've never been more uncomfortable in a nail salon. I went in for a pedi and that's what I got with no communication outside of what was absolutely necessary. When the tech finished she just left me sitting in the chair and walked away. I was like, 'where the heck they do that at?'. I was finally directed to the section where the fans were (which had available seats prior to) after sitting there for 10 minutes. When I paid with cash she acted like she couldn't understand me and gave me the wrong change, and she kept my nail polish I brought! Only go here if you are in absolute pinch to get nails done. Went last week in an emergency as my normal place was out of town. My mani pedi was passable. Definitely not a place to feel relaxed and pampered. It's a fast paced get em, get em out. My feet soak a total of 1 minute in cold water at that. Since my nails didn't soak my hard healthy nails she couldn't trim. Not sure where the tools came from? The back room? Same on my mani, 1 minute soak, again in cold water. My cuticles are jagged as they didn't soak, her tugging at my cuticles. Best yet, was my let thumb had a color nail polish on and the girl completed my manicure with clear leaving my thumb with color polish . Ugh !!! read more

I have been coming here off and on for over 11yrs, service has gone from good to bad. The owners attitude was so rude, I paid with a credit card, when I asked why I could not see the tip section she reply "you've been coming here for a long time and you know we don't accept tips with card" I tried to explain to her that yes, I have paid with my card but I usually bring cash for tip but she keep on repeating the same BS over and over. I said ok, she the started talking to another tech in her language which I find very rude and offensive. As I'm walking away she says "how much you want to tip, I can change" I just walked away. As far as the service, I always get a mani with gel polish and they only last a few days before they star chipping off, they tell me my nails are too greasy, this last time went for a manicure which she didn't do, she didn't clean my nails, remove cuticle or anything just basically removed the home nail polish I had, I asked her to do powder so my natural nails won't chip and hopefully the gel last longer. She did but with an attitude, like they always want to do what they want not what clients ask for. I'm done going there for sure. Save your money and find someone else read more
