Seems to Take Advantage of Customers Recently, my mother-in-law took her car into the dealership to get routine maintenance performed on her 2018 Honda CR-V, primarily driven by oil change. This was 5/11/23. As an individual that works on a lot of cars, several items struck me as not particularly warranted, providing more benefit to the dealership than to the customer. While my personal opinion regarding the pricing of manufacturer parts being unnecessarily marked up, the pricing on the oil change ($45 for oil, filter, and washer), cabin air filter ($43.95) replacement, and engine filter ($43.95) replacement seem generally in line with what would be expected. These parts prices compare with WIX brand aftermarket cabin filter of $35.99 and engine filter of $21.99. No times listed for labor, but cost of replacement for each of these was listed as $25.99 and $15.99 respectively. What is most troubling to me is the recommendation that was made for performing a complete coolant exchange and complete fuel system cleaning. For a vehicle that has 35,000 miles and only five years old, the recommendation to perform these activities increased the cost for this service visit by $359.95 for the fuel system cleaning and $216.07 for the complete coolant exchange. While there is some information available to do a coolant changeout at something less than 50,000 miles, the coolant systems in modern vehicles have excellent corrosive inhibitors and are typically rated for 100,000, and Honda coolant itself is rated for 5 years and 60,000 miles. I would disagree with the recommendation for a complete coolant flush based on my experience with all manner of vehicles, including Hondas, and would tend to flush with the expected timing belt replacement at approximately 100,000 miles. In addition, I am struggling with how a complete coolant system exchange can be achieved without removing the thermostat, which is not shown on the parts list for the activity. This presents a vulnerability if the thermostat was not removed by leaving coolant in the block, and if was heated to flush through the thermostat, fouled coolant would present a concern for the function of the thermostat. Regarding the fuel system cleaning, my experience suggests that this would only be pursued if there was a question of fuel system performance. With no codes for misfire of malfunction, there is no reason to suspect that modern gasoline with advanced detergents used today would present a condition requiring specific fuel system maintenance. Changing a fuel system filter would be appropriate, and maybe running a silver bottle of STP fuel system treatment with a tank of gas can be helpful (particularly with old school carburetor engines), but proactively spending $359.95 for maintenance on the fuel system is unnecessary. Before accepting the recommendations of a dealership, it is recommended one arm themselves with as much information as possible to understand the merits and benefit of the maintenance activity, and possibly getting a second opinion from an independent shop. Given that the maintenance is charged by the hour and not by the visit, postponing maintenance involving hundreds of dollars would be prudent to ensure the money being spent is worth it. In the case of my mother-in-law, in this instance, her bill should have been approximately $600 less than it was, and I have recommended she not utilize Southpoint Honda any longer. While all of these items were "discussed with her" prior to performance, it is the details and the benefit versus cost that was not well communicated to arm the customer to make an informed decision. If it had been, that would have cost the dealership $600, which is not trivial. She did say that Gerald was very nice. read more

Had an appointment scheduled at 12:30. Arrived 5 minutes early and was told it should take about 1.5 hours while I waited. It actually took over 3 hours and I had to correct them on the price when they were having me pay for the work, and they didn't even do the complimentary car wash (this has happened both times I've brought my car for service here). Even though this is the closest dealership to me, I'll be taking my car elsewhere moving forward. One of the service managers called me and apologized for the excessive amount of time it took and the fact they didn't wash the car. They offered to provide me with a free wash next time I'm in the area and an oil change next time I am due for one. I appreciate the fact that they are trying to make the situation right so I've upgraded my review to 3 stars. I'll update this review again after my next visit. read more

I've been going to Southpoint Honda since 1997 when it was Crown Honda Volvo. We have had one Volvo and 6 Hondas serviced there throughout the years. The service department at Southpoint Honda is why we keep purchasing Hondas. I am so grateful for the service department and Charlie Mellela. Last week I received a courtesy call from Honda saying it looked like my 2015 Odyssey might be past due on its service. With the holidays approaching and preparations keeping me busy I had not thought about getting all three of our Honda vehicles in for routine maintenance. They all were due. That call very well could have saved someone's life. I got all three vehicles in for service 2 CRVs & the Odyssey. Service for one CRV & the Odyssey went smoothly as usual. The service technician discovered a major problem in the other CRV due to a recent repair... the front right tie rod broke completely apart. Completely broke apart. Upon further inspection they discovered the replacement part installed was too short (wrong part was installed during repair in August this year at another shop) and it was a matter of time before it failed. We literally were driving across Pilot mountain and in the Virginia mountains the previous weekend and are so lucky it did not break anytime we were driving it since that repair in August. I can't begin to express my gratitude, appreciation and respect for the service department and how they found this serious problem, explained to me what happened including pictures and made the necessary repairs with the correct parts. I trust Charlie Mellela and the team at Southpoint Honda Service. I appreciate the courtesy call they made and highly recommend Southpoint Honda Service. Updating my review from 2 to 3 stars because after my last terrible experience, the manager apologized and offered a free oil change and car wash with wax and detail. They truly did deliver on their promise! I went back this time (with lots of doubts, of course), and was quite pleasantly surprised by how respectfully I was treated by Tony, the day time manager. He gave me a realistic time expectation for when my car would be ready, and checked with me on whether I would be waiting or taking the shuttle back. I didn't realize that their shuttle went to both Duke and UNC's campuses; I brought my lunch with me and was ready to sit down and do 4 hours of work on my laptop, but decided I would take the shuttle back to Duke. Unfortunately, once the shuttle actually arrived, the driver said that they would be able to take me to Duke for free, but that I would have to find my own ride back because other people had already fully booked spots for the way back in the afternoon. I asked Tony about this, who told me that if I wanted to stay rather than deal with the shuttle hassle, that he would try to expedite the progress of my car. He also periodically kept me updated on my car's status. They have a small waiting area with chairs and a table or two, plus a coffee machine and complimentary bottles of water. Their wifi works fine as well, so it wasn't a bad place to wait. They also performed a complimentary tire rotation that I needed but didn't ask for.... and ended up giving my car back to me earlier than expected! Honestly, if all my visits were like this where I was treated respectfully and what I asked for was delivered, I would definitely be back each time. I'm a bit doubtful though -- I wonder how much of my great experience was due to being in the hands of a great manager who understood how to work with people and deliver on promises. Plus, it actually took 20 minutes once I arrived there to get to actually talk to someone because the line was so long (I was checking my watch since I had nothing else to do anyway in the car while waiting) ..Hence the 3 stars rather than 4. I brought my 2011 Odyssey in mainly to get a second key made and shut off the TPMS warning light. They spent 2 days, billed me $589. $200 for the key, which did not owrk and $169 "diagnostic service" to clean the sliding door sensor and another $169 "diagnostic" to tell me a tire pressure sensor needed replacing for another $382. Then told me they could not shut off the TPMS alert without a new sensor. So spent 2 days and nearly $600 for a defective key and to be told I need to spend another $400 to turn off the frickin warning light. Never again read more

Today, I required a inspection at the same place and they told me I need to do another transmission fluid exchange. WTF?? I drive a 2019 Honda Pilot that I purchased brand new at Crown Honda Southpoint. The purchase experience was an excruciatingly long almost 4 hour process (we had agreed upon price online before ever walking in the door and it still took 4 hours) but they were very nice to work with. Fast forward, my car is plagued with electrical issues that's a known class action issue, not Crown's fault. But because of the issues, my car has been in for service a lot more than the average car less than 3 years old. Everyone at Crown is always super nice but I've always had issues with service whether it's leaving dirty greasy fingerprints all over my car, denting a trim piece, leaving tools in the car I had to drive back to return, return to service to fix issue that was technicians fault/inexperience, and the latest, my $200 Ray-ban sunglasses are now missing (yes I know I shouldn't have left them in there, I was rushing and forgot). I've been disappointed more than not with my visits to Crown Honda, this past one being the last time I will ever step foot in their doors. I've had enough. Buyer beware. Interestingly enough, I bought a 2019 Pilot because I have a 2011 Pilot that I loved. I never had a bad experience with Autopark in Cary servicing that vehicle and that's where I plan to return. read more

I haven't even had my car serviced here yet. I'm sitting in the waiting area. It started when I called to make an appointment. The woman who answered the service line didn't even acknowledge my call. No "hello, " how may I help you?" Nothing! Just air and a side conversation I could hear in the background. Then, I was hung up on. I called back and the same thing. Finally, I said "hello" and the woman said, "oh you're there." What kind of game is this. I called a business-- an international company. I expect some kind of customer service. Then she asked me my phone number associated with my car. I have been to many Honda service locations in the northeast in the past 12 years with this car. So when she couldn't look me up she finally asked if I had been here before. I haven't. Only to the Honda in Raleigh. She was like Ohhhh. I have to put you in the system. Why didn't she just ask me if I had been to the Durham location from the start? We could have saved a ton of time. Then she asked me all my contact info which I spelled out twice because I knew she would not be able to spell it and she kept saying she couldn't hear me. My gut told me I was going to regret this. Seriously!!! I made an appointment for Saturday at 1:45. I pulled up to the service driveway at 1:30. There were about 4-5 cars ahead of me. I wasn't able to physically pull into the service garage until 1:45. Ok, closer. Then, I waited and waited. Watched the people in front of me stand outside their cars and wait and wait. No one asked if anyone had an appointment or if they needed help. NOTHING! All the staff just walked by us all just doing what they were doing. When I was next up with people waiting behind m, I got a little hopeful. Then, I waited and waited being ignored by everyone in the service garage. Finally, I walked up to one of the service desks where a guy was on his computer. I explained nicely that I had an appointment at 1:45, had been here since 1:30 and it is now 2:00. I was sitting in my car or standing with my car in the service garage this whole time. He said they were short staffed and started processing my service. I should say that he asked me all the same contact info the woman on the phone asked--name, address, phone, email. None of it was in there. What I don't understand is how he and others just ignored me this whole time. I found it interesting that in the half an hour I was waiting outside, myself and the other customers were mostly people of color. As my service was being processed and I looked at the customers behind me who were getting out of their cars, they were being acknowledged and the service reps were walking up the them to get their information--the type of service I had received at all the other Honda service centers in the past. They majority of these customers were white. Two were even sitting in the waiting area before me . Just an observation! UPDATE I waited 3 hours before I asked for an update. The service guy I was working with had a long line in front of him so I asked someone else who was also busy but not with a customer. He said my car was complete but I had to checkout with my service guy. I stood in line and then I saw a guy in a pink shirt who looked like to manager. He was! I shared my experience and he apologized and said they were working hard but had a large number of customers. He assured me that my experience was not normal. He then processed my service and said that I would not have to pay anything for my service. He told me I could wait upfront and he would personally drive my car around which he did. I really hope this gets addressed. Even if you're busy, ACKNOWLEDGE the customers. Saying hello; thank you for your time; we apologize for you're wait; we'll be right with you. Say something! Southpoint Honda - Waiting and being ignored by staff - Car Dealers Near Me - Durham, North Carolina

This place needs more mechanics. You can't sell people service/maintenance packages and then don't have enough mechanics to service vehicles in a timely manner, doesn't matter if it's a weekend. Was told it would be 2 hours for a basic oil change and tire rotation kind of service. It ended up being 4 hours and 40 minutes waiting around. If I was told up front it would be approx 4 hours I would not even have given my car in. They need a better way of assessing wait times instead of just throwing a random number out there. Majority of services are standard and you should know exactly how long it takes. Our advisor Daniel Rodriguez was completely useless, working so slow and when I walked up to his desk asking how much longer will it be, he said he would need to check and just kept looking at something else on his monitor and completely ignored be while I was waiting in front of him. Daniel has zero customer service manners and should be working far away from customer interaction. He gave me the wrong price on some of the services and was bad at explaining why same parts needed to be replaced. He was away from his desk for lengthy times and when we asked someone to announce on the speakers that his customers are waiting, he never showed up. In general, this dealership is a mess. Appointments don't mean anything, you get placed in the same line as people without an appointment. This is why they never even bother to ask if you have an appointment when you arrive. Every time you arrive you have to flag someone down just to get them to take your car in. There are always people running around and they never approach you and offer to help, which I thought was normal in customer service. This would be ok if there was some kind of check in system, which there is not. While some advisors have a line of people waiting to get their keys and paperwork, you see other advisors just hanging around laughing. If it takes you 4 hours to get around to fix an oil change, the least you can do is put out some more donuts and bagels. I understand it doesn't take 4 hours to change the oil, but rather the volume of cars is what adds the hours, which they explain every time. But that is no excuse. That means you need to hire more people. Like this isn't aggravating enough, the tv in the waiting room is blasting loud someone playing a shoot em up kind of video game with added commentary as if it was a football game. Then the coffee tasted like something they had drained out of the engine. Terrible experience, never buy a service package from here. read more

Alecha May was my service advisor and did a fantastic job helping me with a major transmission issue that I had another local place check (Jake's Transmissions) and who had not been able to confirm whether or not the transmission was the issue. It turns out the clicking sound was due to a major transmission issue that required replacement of the transmission. I called EVERY Honda dealership in northern NC and the two that actually got back to me gave me prices way higher than Crown Honda. Alecha May gave me a discount on labor, which was greatly appreciated. Anthony, the senior technician who performed the work, took time to road test the car with me prior and to explain exactly what he thought was wrong with the car. Then, after I was comfortable and confident that the repair was necessary, he performed the repair excellently and in a timely manner. Alecha May and Anthony should be given raises for their high commitment to customer service and their patience and attention to detail they showed in all their many communications with me prior, during and after the repair. Alecha May and Anthony get 5 stars. I had a very different experience with a salesperson there who provided an estimate on the car in case I wanted to trade it in. But Russ Anwar and whoever his boss is gave me an insulting trade in offer. My car, even with a "fair" condition per KBB.com (the worst condition option requiring mechanical repairs), is worth $10,060 trade in value. Russ and his boss offered me $6,000. The very same day that my car was in the shop there, Crown had a 2017 Accord LX (one year newer than mine) with 75K miles listed for $21,000. My car is a 2016 (same options as the 2017) with 137K. Clearly, if they took my car for $6,000, they would have fixed the transmission and had it back on the market for $18,000 or more. Shady move, Russ. As I told Russ, this one interaction made it clear to me that the sales team is not one that I would feel comfortable doing business with, despite the amazing experience I had with May and Anthony in service. The trade in offer of $6,000 was an insult to my intelligence and to me as a new customer and Russ lost Crown a future customer as a result of that decision. He and his boss get 0 stars. Business relationships are based upon one thing... TRUST and that first impression was pretty bad. Thank you to Alecha May and Anthony! You guys deserve a lot of credit as you saved Crown from a 1 star review from Russ's actions indicated above. The dealership as a whole has some pretty lackluster Yelp reviews, so I'm gathering from my own experience, with the service department being EXCELLENT that the issues are on the sales side of things. In the 9 years I have owned my Honda Civic, I have been to 7 different Hondas in the US. I have to say Crown Honda is hands down THE WORST service dealership I have encountered. I made an appointment, and regardless of this, still waited more than3 hours for the inspection (couldn't even fix the car afterwards because they were closing soon). Then, waited another 30 mins to locate my I repaired vehicle, because they could not find it. I get it, weekends are especially busy; but maybe appointments should not be offered as the expectation is the service will be done in a timely manner. Needless to say, I drove all the way to Raleigh to have my car repaired at another Honda. Inspection about an hour WITHOUT an appointment, on a weekend. Will not be returning to crown Honda, even if I have to drive 30 mins to get Honda certified services. Update: I'm writing this review as I'm sitting at another Honda dealership. I had another inspection, only 2 of the 6 services recommended by Crown Honda are actually needed. Also a diagnostic here is $75 and not $165 as I was going to be charged at the other Crown. I had a good experience getting a recalled part swapped out and a state inspection done, then selling my deceased father's car to the dealership. My father had passed away a few weeks before inspection was due. He hadn't been driving it much in the months before his death, so we also had an open recall that hadn't been taken care of. We wanted to get these done before we decided whether to sell the car or trade it in. The car also had an outstanding balance on the note. We hadn't made up our minds about what to do with the car but decided to bring it here for maintenance. I picked this Honda dealership because it was closest to my house, and they gave me an appointment that day and finished the airbag replacement and state inspection within about two hours. When I picked the car up after the maintenance the next morning, I asked for an appraisal/offer. They ended up offering us more than both the bluebook value and the car note payoff amount, so we were pleased. We had the car maintenance taken care of and signed the paperwork to sell Crown the car in just over 24 hours. Having had bad experiences at other dealerships and mechanics, I appreciate that situations like this can go in different directions. But in this case, they exceeded my expectations and I would consider them again for my business, as well as telling other people they made us a good offer that seemed fair and helped things happen in an efficient manner. read more

I wish I could leave separate reviews for sales and service. My first experience with Crown Honda was a routine service appointment for my Civic. Simple oil change and tire rotation. Something I would normally do myself but I still had a Honda service contract. Service (1 star): I called and set an appointment. Once I arrived, the service advisor, Tim, told me that it would take 2 hours. For an oil change and tire rotation? Give me a break. But, COVID is slowing everything down so I figured I'd just bring my laptop and work on their WiFi. Price you pay for free oil changes, I figured. FOUR HOURS LATER... I'm notified that my service contract was with the dealership at which I bought the Civic. My mistake, but they couldn't tell me this before they started the work? $200 (For an oil change/tire rotation?!) and I was finally out of there. Sales (5 stars): I was planning to avoid this place like the plague that's currently happening, but I found myself in the market for a new car. I needed an SUV to move materials for house projects, as I got sick of trying to fit 8'x4' plywood/drywall into a Civic sedan. I knew I wanted either a Honda or Toyota (Japanese engineering, made in America, V6 AWD). So I came back for a test drive as they're the closest Honda dealership to me. As I walked in, I was greeted by Chance. He listened to my preferences and wants, then came back with a Pilot and a Passport that perfectly fit what I was looking for, with some additional options, and under budget. Went for some quick test drives, traded some jokes with Chance, warned him how I like to give sales people a hard time (Once held off on buying a truck in the past unless they gave me a t-shirt. I was young, and an a-hole.). I decided I didn't like the ride on the pilot. (Nothing wrong with it, just my preference.) I took Chance's card (His full name was literally "Chance Deal". Kid was born to be a salesman.) and went to test drive some Toyotas. The Toyota dealership couldn't find anything in my price range with the features I needed. They kept just trying to sell me a TRD Pro 4 Runner (Want. Can't afford.) Left a bad taste in my mouth. I had decided on a Passport but was iffy on Crown Honda after my service experience. The company I work for does discounts on auto purchases through TrueCar. When I got a quote for the Passport I test drove through TrueCar, they offered almost $5000 off MSRP. I called Chance and scheduled another test drive of the passport to make sure it was what I wanted. Chance was happy to take me on a much longer test drive and go over some features I may have missed. I showed him the TrueCar offers for the purchase of the Passport and the trade of my Civic. There were some minor bumper scrapes, so they couldn't give me the full amount in the offer, but I still got $2000 less than I paid for it (Hooray used car shortages). They honored the quoted price for the Passport so we were off to Finance. They're really quick with the paperwork (Maybe finance needs to run the service department. lol). And we were outside with my new Passport. Standing there next to my new Passport holding the keys was none other than Chance Deal... with a T-Shirt for me. read more

Just one more review here telling of how bad the service department is at Crown Honda. They will bullsh** you when your tell them your new car with less than 10k makes braking noise similar to a dump truck. When you say that their explanation is unacceptable and Bret your service guy doesn't call you back that's one thing, but when David the service manager ignores you its time to bail out. Sanford Honda will be doing all my future service and will get all my future Honda business. Word of advice for all new or used car shoppers; research the service department of the dealership before you sign the papers. Wish I would have done that. read more

Annnnnddd... today, within a week of the work done, we discovered our A/C had been knocked out inexplicably. Just spent the last 30 minutes getting passed around the business trying to get Tony Padula on the phone or get into his voicemail, and I'm left, for the second time, in Tony Holland's voicemail inbox. Voicemail was never returned. Removing this business from recommended list. Fortunate to have a handy spouse who was able to reconnect a fuse that had gotten jostled, presumably, when Honda was doing the other work. read more

Grossly disorganized and horrible customer service. Would not recommend working with them. My experience highlights: 1) My 2 hour appointment took over 4 hours-- no updates during that time despite multiple requests 2) Got stranded at the mall via their shuttle. No one picked up the phone number I was directed towards 3) Took 40 minutes to get someone on the phone (8 calls) --only happened because the menu mis-categorized my request. 4) automated phone system kept directing me incorrectly and hanging me up when I requested an operator. Recommendations to the manager: --Fix your phone tree to properly direct customers --Install call waiting so when you only have 1 person manning the lines (like today), customers have the option to hold --Update customers when there will be a significant deviation from the time agreed The woman I spoke with was genuinely sorry and said she would feed my experience up the chain. I hope they listen and fill these gaps in their customer service. read more

Based on my recent experience, I strongly advise car owners not to take their vehicles to Crown Honda of Southpoint for service. I recently had the battery in my 1999 CR-V replaced there. After I got the car home, I discovered major damage to the front end of the vehicle, including a radiator leak that eventually caused the engine to overheat and stop running. After I notified the dealership, the service department manager refused to take responsibility for the damage to my car and told me to call my insurance company. Total cost of the repairs, including straightening the front bumper and frame and replacing the radiator, condenser, headlights, grille and front bumper cover, was $2,000. I had a horrible experience with the service department. I made an appointment to have my car's recalled airbags repaired. When I arrived they took all the information I had given over the phone as if I didn't have an appointment. I was told that the repair should take no longer than two and half hours. More than three hours later, I was told that they were just now about to start working on my car and it shouldn't take longer than 40 minutes. An hour later, after bugging a service department employee, my car was finally almost ready. When I asked why I would have to wait three hours just for my car to be seen even though I had an appointment, the service guy told me that was "the way in the industry" and was totally unsympathetic. So, after making an appointment, I waited four hours and 15 minutes for the service department to make a 40 minute repair. They said that this assured me that I would be seen today. My service tech told me there was a shuttle that runs to Southpoint in 15 minutes. 70 minutes later we are still waiting for the shuttle. Every time we asked, they said it would be a few more minutes. 3:30 at Southpoint I get a call from the shuttle driver asking if I was ready to be picked up. I asked if my car was ready and he said, " I don't know, but this is the last shuttle pickup and if I don't leave now then I will have to find other transportation back to the dealer!" 4:00 my car is finally ready. (4.5 hours for an oil change) They advertise free car wash with service. When they pull my car around, the car had not been washed. I asked about the car wash and they said.. "Oh.. you wanted that done?" I will go run it through real quick.. They ran it through and you really couldn't tell it had been washed.... Very poor customer service.. won't be back! read more

The shuttle service I received was TERRIBLE!!! My driver slammed on the brakes too many times to count! Tried to pass care in the turning lane and on top of that was late! Dropped my car off at 9:30 car was ready around 11. Why did it take 2 hours to be picked up from the same location I was dropped off at? Not even 15 minutes down the street! RIDICULOUS!!!! The EPS electronic power steering stopped working and couldn't steer the car. Had it towed by AAA to Southpoint. Was told the steering rack was leaking oil and needed to be replaced. $2800. I asked how can it leak fluid when it has none. It works by electric motor. They claimed Honda repair book said replace rack if the computer code said so. I asked if they checked fuses, wiring harness, electronic control module. Answer was no. Code says this. We do that. If rack didn't fix it they would replace the module for $900 more. I went bullshit on the guy and told him to check what I told him to check. He called back with tail between his legs and said he put his "BEST" guy on it and found a chewed wiring harness. They replaced the harness for $340. I had their managers in the office when I went to pick up the car and had a piece of them as well. I'm still waiting for my 2 hour diagnostic charge I did to fix the problem. Probably won't happen. read more

Drove all the way from Greensboro or Durham just to test drive a pre-owned Honda Civic Coupe. I found it on TrueCar.com but was looking for a BMW Coupe. A white BMW Coupe with low miles and a great price, to be exact. And as we got out of our there, there it was! A white BMW 228i Coupe with low miles, showroom condition and a great price. I was pained with Keith Hutchins. He's great! Definitely ask for him. So knowledgeable, no car salesman BS, no pressure, no song and dance. Just a straight up guy. We went for a test drive and I was hooked. The planets had aligned and I knew it was my car. Keith worked with my lender who, had pre-approved me, to connect all the dots so I could drive the car home that day. Thanks Keith and Crown! I love my car! read more

This is not where you need to go if you value your time. I had a 9 o'clock appointment for an oil change. Why would an oil change have a 2 1/2 hour wait time. Then there was of course the b.s. add on and required maintenance speech to try and up charge me. If an appointment is made for a specific time then that's when it should be serviced. I have never waited with an appointment this long for a basic service. They will never receive my business again. read more

4 hours for an oil change I SCHEDULED ON THEIR APP! WHAT???!?!? After 90 min, they apologized by saying "it won't be long" and that there were "delays." Then, after three hours they said "Whoops, so sorry, we accidentally worked on the wrong car, not yours." (I guess to Crown Honda, all Hondas look alike). At four hours, they offered to discount the bill somewhat, but not nearly enough for the trouble Crown Honda gave me as a result of their ineptitude. I relocated to Durham a few months ago and after today's experience at Crown Honda of SouthPoint, I will select a different Honda dealer for the future. I'm a lifelong Honda owner (over 4 decades), and I can assure you, this place is an embarrassment to American Honda. read more

The service director and evening service manager were belittling and demeaning to me yesterday. They both defiantly misled me about the availability of the recall replacement airbag, as confirmed by my American Honda corporate contact. Same corporate contact apologized profusely to me for the dealership's behavior, recorded all details of our in-person communications, and stated that American Honda corporate office has amassed countless complaints about Crown Service, notably about service time delays and their lack of proper follow-through on service matters. I had purchased my 2007 CRV at Crown Honda and would have returned at year-end to purchase my next one, until yesterday's unpleasantries and my subsequent findings from American Honda. I'm grateful for the knowledge I have today. If zero stars were available, that's what I would have chosen. read more

I purchased my Honda Civic hatchback sport touring at Honda of Southpoint in 2020. I have been very happy with this car (previous Acura RSX owner of 17 years). At my first annual inspection & complimentary oil change, there was an accident with my car -- someone in the garage drove over a curb. Rim significantly scratched and tire slightly torn. The Honda staff ALERTED ME to this mishap. Honestly, I do not think I would have noticed until days later. They were honest and showed me what they observed (dust from the curb still on the tire) and asked me appropriate questions about any knowledge of having done it myself. I am still impressed with their forthrightness. They promised to 'take care of it.' And they did. It took three months after submitting the order to the parts distributor to get the wheel -- back-order after back-order. But, manager Dave continuously contacted me with updates, ensuring me that this would not be dropped or forgotten. Absolutely wonderful customer service from Dave Lee. I will forever sing his praises. And now I again have a beautiful sporty Civic--like brand new! Thank you for your good faith running of business. read more

First off I would like to say I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER CAR FROM THIS PLACE!!! The service department is the most unorganized place I've ever dealt with. Today 12/30 I had an appt for 12pm, I arrived at 1130. Timothy my advisor was ok but as of 430 haven't gave me and update on my car. And when I called they claimed that he was no where to be found. When asked to speak to management they gave me the runaround, kept me on hold for a very long time and then proceeded to hang up. I had to call back 12 times. After an hr Timothy finally picked up and over all the other ridiculous things told me they wouldn't get to my car till around 7pm. What the heck!! I ended up borrowing a friends car and drove up there to speak with Keith the manager, he was professional (talking wise) but didn't and couldn't provide me with and update on my car and proceeded to be sarcastic with the answers to my question. The customer he was dealing with in front on me had the same complaints and I feel her pain! I understand being busy, but the is just the worst. My Honda Accord is still under warranty & I wanted my brakes & heating system checked out. I arrived at 8:05 AM on a Saturday morning. I saw there were only two cars ahead of me & was so excited! However, I looked in the waiting room & saw about 6 people already seated. Oh boy. My advisor was patient & allowed me to explain my issues. He told me it would be about a 2 hour wait. Well, I had my dog with me & asked did he mind that we stayed, because we had no plans of staying that long. He said, "no, they are pet friendly." So Milo & I sat in the waiting room for over 2 hours. He was so well-behaved! There was water, coffee & Dunkin' Donuts bagels & doughnuts. There is plenty of seating in the waiting area & nearby showroom. I was happy they had it on ABC, so we could watch "Good Morning, America" & the local news, versus some reality tv show. After waiting so long, my advisor came back & got me. He explained they went through everything & all checked out. I was glad about that, but hate we had to wait so long. They're open 7 days a week with extended hours. read more

I'm big on customer service and product quality. We purchased a certified pre-owned vehicle a few months ago and I've been back here too many times for my likening. I have been able to get appointments fairly quickly and today when I came in Russell Willis stopped what he was doing to help, me after several staff had walked by without a good morning smh. Russell gets a 5 but collectively the business gets the 4 I'm a person of habit so I rely on Honda to be reliable. Hoping the pre owned works out my fingers are crossed. I bought my first new car here. I researched a lot before making my purchase and already knew the car I wanted. I had been to a couple of Honda dealers but none that were willing to work with me. I found this dealership after moving to the area, and my dealer was James Park. He was so knowledgeable and really wanted to get me the best deal for the price I wanted to pay. I don't think I would have made the purchase with any other dealer. He was professional, knowledgeable, and such a nice man. I really liked the process and was able to make a purchase that I loved. If I could give the service department a 1 Star I would. They don't acknowledge your presence at all. I was on the phone for 20 minutes trying to schedule an oil change because the lady couldn't put it on hold. She then proceeds to tell me the wrong information making telling me my oil change would be 24 plus a 10 dollar oil change. I didn't think anything of it because I don't work in a service department. Then I get here and they tell me those are two promotional prices and they can't be mixed. Well I talked to the manager and they gave it to me, however he says "that doesn't sound like something she would say." That's mad shady and I'm not going to lie about that. read more

I was blocked on their FB page for asking a question in the comments about the leasing mileage and made another comment asking if they had a maintenance perk program like I get with my Toyota (they don't) and they deleted my comments and blocked me!
