Sacramento Southwest has lots of planes
    Joe S.

Southwest Airlines in Sacramento was great as a destination. I didn't get to fly back out of SMF on Southwest, but the terminal was open and spacious, the bags made it to baggage claim quickly and efficiently, and I was on my way to my destination rather quickly.

I love Southwest Airlines - it is the airline I have flown the most my whole life whether it was traveling to Oregon during the summers to visit my dad or more recently, an anniversary trip with my husband to Burbank. I rarely have an issues with Southwest - very few delays or issues on the actual flights. Flight attendants are always friendly and they always have snacks that are different than just nuts or pretzels. I will say that even though they allow 2 carry ons per person - you now have to pay $35 each way to check a bag. I would have opted to take my bag on the plane, but they don't allow liquids that are over 3 oz in your carry on. The check-in process is always fast unless a customer happens to hold up the line and the take off and landing is usually always smooth. They offer free Wi-Fi for their website that offers movies and tv shows. I'm sure there are other airlines that are better, but this is just my personal opinion! If I have a choice, I am flying Southwest! I will be back next month for our next adventure!

The ruling from Department of transportation for the issue of carrying on musical instruments

I just saw a video online where a southwest employee told one of their customers that they should be ashamed of themselves for trying to bring a guitar on board. It was condescending and rude. Employees of Southwest Airlines should have more respect for their customers. Bringing a guitar onto the plane is not unreasonable. This action went against rulings from the Department of transportation. Southwest needs to treat their clients with respect. I will not be flying Southwest anymore unless Southwest takes corrective actions. I would love to see some action taken on how they can make this right for the person who was talked down to.

Listen this was the first time that I have flown since they have implemented the new system of having assigned seats. A Little slow in boarding and we were delayed by an hour because someone got sick on the plane and they had to clean it. The staff were very kind and they kept us updated concerning the status of the flight. I flew for a training to San Diego and the plane was clean though it smelt a little strong with the disinfectant. The only reason why I did not give this five stars was they are still working out the new boarding process and it was slow. The inflight service was great and quite frankly I enjoyed the flight. I sat by the exit where the wing was located and it was comfortable with people smiling and being kind. They really have to get the boarding process down so that we do not feel that we will be waiting for our next birthday by the time we get on the plane.

I typically dont complain a lot about Southwest. However, lately, prices have been creeping up and even when they have a special, they seem to have an algorithm that prompts a higher fee on a return leg of a round trip. On this visit, my complaint is the gate agent. We were in las vegas, waiting to return home, and a lady had a dog that was nipping and barking at everybody that passed by sitting next to us. I complained to a gate agent and she sent this gentleman in the picture to talk to the lady. They ended up talking, and even though this dog even barked and nipped at him.She gave him a sob story about how nervous the dog is.And he let it go. Having an animal outside of its carrier in an airport where it can bark and nip.At everybody that passes by should not be allowed. It's not that i'm a pet hater, it's just safe for everyone.

It had been a while since I last traveled via plane. My experience was great (aside from return at Palm Springs airport due to their bathrooms all not working and me arriving 3 hours before my flight). The trip was to Palm Springs - plane was only about half full, so both there and back I had a space next to me. I got a window seat, and the trip was at a good price. Flight attendants were nice, ride was smooth, easy setup through Southwests app on my iPhone.

Disappointed that I got mistakenly downgraded from Exit Row $16 to regular seat after agent charged me additional money $18. She said it was extra legroom seat. I want refund for both. Plus WiFi didn't work so this flight so I couldn't get any of my important work done. Totally bummed!!! Y'all can do better. And now I'm having to jump through hoops and submit all this stuff to get my refund back instead of someone at the terminal being able to help me. I got my fingers crossed. They should be giving me some additional mileage as well for this headache.

The security line was super short and we got through in 5 minutes. You no longer have to take your shoes off when you go through security which is really nice! After making it through I was very surprised to see all of the food choices have changed and 100% for the better! I grabbed a coffee at temple which I thought would eat some spare time but the whole process was surprisingly quick. You order and pay at the kiosks up front which helps the like go quickly. Then once your order is ready your name is called out. I think I only waited a total of 10 minutes! The one thing I will say is that sometimes they don't call names out very loudly so you have to stand close.

With that being said, they are making changes to the airport to expand it and hopefully improve it even more, but there are fears that with growth there will be some hurdles and drawbacks. For now, they have made some fun changes including many local businesses being featured in Terminals A and B. I love that they're sharing local flavors with the people passing through our airport and highlighting some of the cool places in our city. From our trips the airport is easy to arrive to, pick others up from, check into flights and navigate, they offer some decent food and drink options, and have a good amount of seating for those waiting on their flights. They also fly to a good amount of places with non-stop or connecting flights. Security is typically very efficient and we always arrive early for our flights and find ourselves with plenty of time ahead of takeoff to visit the restroom, pick up some bites or sips, and walk around. Baggage claim is also pretty straight forward and we've never had a problem picking up luggage after a trip and getting picked up or requesting a ride from Uber/Lyft. This airport is one of the more comfortable and easy to navigate airports that we've been through.

Arms shoot up and everyone is always eager to share a story. Example after example people remember more stories or similar stories, laughing starts and I always have to end this part of the group. My service received on May 22/23 & 29th from the phone agents, desk agents and flight attendants will now be used as examples for my classes. It all started with an unapproved charge on my credit card made 2days prior to my vacation starting. Yes, when I saw the charge I instantly closed my account and contacted United. I spoke to Harvey. I was told he couldn't do anything but he said he would put a note to other United agents on my account, alerting them that my credit card was compromised and to not make any changes to my reservation. He told me to speak to the ticketing agent at the airport to get a refund and put back in my original seat assignment. Sue at United front desk couldnt help me get my original seats either and offered me no help at all other than to tell me "I can move you back but it's going to cost you more". So, because I technically paid for it, I had 1st class seats for a 2hr flight Roanoke Virginia. First Class, basically a bigger seat and that's it. We got asked half way through our flight if we wanted a drink and snack. I also wasn't asked if I minded, or was allergic, to the huge dog and owner they moved into the empty seats behind me. Did the lady and her dog pay for those two empty seats? I don't think so, but I was made to pay for mine. Now, it's time for my flights home. Day before my flights I go to the app to check-in and the app is showing No Flights Scheduled. I call and speak to a service rep and she says that she had no idea why my flights were cancelled but she was able to reinstated all my seat assignments without any problems or up charge. Fast forward, we check in for our flights to Richmond/ Chicago/Sacramento and get to to our gate and see the flight is 5hs delayed because they "have no crew". We were automatically redirected on another flight and seats randomly given to me. I saw I was separated from my husband and scanned a QR code by the gate, spoke to an agent who huffs & puffs to change our seats and put them together. When we arrive in Denver we rush over to our new gate and with a few minutes to spare we pre check with the agent confirming we didn't neef new bording passes for this flight to Sacrament. He doesn't even look at us and says "if it says Sacramento on it you're fine" and brushes us off. Well what do you think happens? We go to get on our flight, boarding passes don't work, and this POS starts acting like it's our fault we're holding up the line. Not only was his demeanor rude he separated my husband and my seats. Seriously crash landed in Sacramento which caused the crew to be unable to open the cargo door and remove our luggage. We only found this out after we were standing around 30-40mins with the other passengers in baggage claim. Finally luggage starts moving through and an hour later my husband and I are staring at an empty luggage conveyor belt. Our luggage was missing. Reported my luggage missing in that little room everyone hopes to never be in. The woman says your luggage is in Chicago, we'll text you along the way to keep you updated on where your luggage is. She even sent me a practice text. That was the first and last text I received regarding my bags. Before we left she said we'll deliver your bags probably by morning. By 9am and receiving no text and nothing on the app, I called the Baggage Recovery Center, gave my last name and confirmation number and he instantly told me my luggage was on its way to California and would probably be out to me by noon/1. By 2:30 and no word about my luggage I call the Baggage Recovery Center again and told the woman, Pria, that I wanted an update on my bags. She said "what's wrong with your bags". Conversation ended with her saying my bags will arrive in 6-8hrs. Which we all know is another way of saying "I don't know". In the end, my husband and I got home alive and our luggage did arrive a day later. But it's still unfortunate that the horrible feeling United has given me is trumping the joy I had on vacation. But that's how bad service goes, it stays longer and travels farther than good.

Unfortunately, our first class ticket wasn't honored and we were shoved into economy , but at least we got there I guess! That might be a perfect situation for those going to the Giants game as it lets off literally a few blocks from AT&T Park. We chose the 9:30am bus with a 11:30am arrival in Sn Francisco. Research noted that you cue up in line as most (but not all) seats are first come first served. We arrived 30 min ahead and were 5th and 6th in line. The bus arrived at 9:10and we were on by 9:10. Reserved seats can be purchased for an additional $1 fee as well. There are Table and front row seats for $5 or $7 more as well. Bus is clean, comfortable. We sat on the upper level, with a nice view. The only negative for me is that the bus ride is "soft". What I mean is that our bus had that Cadillac soft rolling feel and was slowly rocking up and down with every bump in the road. So for those of you that get car sick easily, you have been forewarned. Reservations are done online, and the process is incredibly easy. For $9 plus the $1 reservation fee for this trip, I found it a great deal.
