    TVs in the seat

Last week was the first time my family and I had ever flown on Hawaiian Airlines - we were headed to our vacation in Honolulu! What a great airline! Checking in at 5am went fairly smoothly and the airline staff were friendly - I also thought they communicated great while at the gate! I also love that Hawaiian Airline has assigned seats - I hate feeling rushed especially when flying with family. It's nice to know that we aren't having to look for 3 seats together once we are on the plane. The airplane was huge - 8 seats in each row! 2 on either side of the windows and 4 in the center. They also have screens in front of each seat that plays all of the airline information plus the safety procedures. I actually enjoyed this more rather than watching someone play with the floatation device and seatbelt. You could also watch the progress of the flight - how fast we were flying, the elevation, the temperature and the time left until we reached our destination. The screens offered free movies and TV shows, you will need to bring plug in headphones or an adapter in order to listen though, but they do offer plug in headphones for $4. Not only do they offer free drinks (including a complimentary cocktail), a free snack and a sweet treat - they also come around with a menu where you can buy additional snack boxes - we bought one that included crackers, cheese, salami and even green olives. On the way to Honolulu, we were given a sausage breakfast sandwich that was pretty good and a Honolulu Cookie. We felt spoiled! Flight attendants were friendly and they even walked up and down the aisles offering water periodically - they were great at collecting trash multiple times too. I also liked having multiple bathrooms available on the plane for our 5 hour flight and you could visit their attendant compartments at any time to get more snacks and drinks instead of waiting for them to come around. Also, the free WiFi is amazing and you can still text while in airplane mode! I can't wait to book another flight with Hawaiian Airlines!

New feature - Starlink In-flight Wi-Fi Aloha kakahiaka, braddahs and sistahs! Whoohoo! flying experience is much better with internet! The high-speed Wi-Fi is available on all their A330 and A321neo aircraft... and best of all it's free of charge, no registration pages or payment portals. We love traveling Hawaiian Airlines to the 808. It's even better now with Starlink internet for travelers flying between Hawaii including their international planes. Our travels with Hawaiian Airlines have been mostly on time and we had never had any issues. One time we experienced a slight delay (during Covid). Customer service has always been exceptional... plus it's always good seeing fellow Yelper, Michelle M, checking in our luggage and seeing her at Gate B4 in Terminal B (SMF). Hi Michelle! Just get served our hot breakfast --pork sausage, cheddar and egg sandwich with OJ (a whole can of Minute Maid). Review #2257 updated

Original flight was scheduled to leave out of Oakland Airport. The day prior to leaving, I received multiple notifications of my flight being delayed. From past experiences, "delayed flights" turn into "cancelled flights". To avoid such a thing especially on Christmas Day, I decided to reroute my flight out to Sacramento. Thank goodness Sacramento had available seats. Staff were really friendly and supportive. They helped me carry my luggage's and stroller to the gate as they clearly saw me struggling with my toddler.

When you got it, YOU GOT IT! (HNL-SMF-HNL) Of the many Hawaiian Airlines terminals on the Continental USA, I feel Sacramento Check in Counter and Gate Check In staff take first place. Here is my story: If you are on Hawaiian that means you are either coming from or going to Hawaii from Sacramento. Think about this: you depart Sacramento EARLY in the morning and if you're flying back into Sacramento, you will arrive LATE in the evening. (Mind you, I'm just setting the stage for you making it easier to empathize with my review) Arriving Sacramento from Hawaii gets you there very late, in the summers, pushing midnight. After a close to 6 hour flight all you want to do is get to the baggage claim OR the rental car station OR the arriving area if you're getting picked up. Hawaiian has their staffing at the gates as you get off the plane directing you... No getting lost. Departing Sacramento to Hawaii means you need to be at the airport at the crack of dawn; sometimes dark still if you're flying in the winter. If you're trying to get a boarding pass, no fear as the check in gate employees are very helpful. They will also direct you to the tram area as the tram gets you to your gate. The last thing a traveler needs when coming or going is angst from the unknown or sass from humans. You will get neither. Take the escalator up a level if you need the check in counters. Otherwise, take the escalators up 3 total levels to the tram gates. Happy Traveling

Finally got a chance to fly this airline on a leg going overseas. My plane was an Airbus A330-200 (two aisles) which was a nice plane. But I did find it a bit odd that there were no "individual" air vents. The lady sitting next to me had a draft blowing on her during the flight and had to put her jacket on...on a flight to Hawaii? I didn't feel the draft and was fine. I had a window seat near the back of the plane (but not the last row). There isn't really anything to see during this flight...it's either sky & clouds, or the ocean. Aisle seats are probably best...but I still prefer the window seat. Our flight departed a little late, but we still arrived on-time. Most airlines build in a fudge factor just for this occasion. In fact, they build in extra taxi time for going to & from the gate also. Why?...so their on-time performance "looks" good. Yeah, it's deceptive but it's not illegal. The plane was in nice shape and the flight attendants provided good service to us passengers. We were served a hot breakfast sandwich which was pretty good. What was really good was the rum punch. That's right, rum punch. You have to listen sharply as they list it quickly with the breakfast juice options. I know it was a bit early in the day, but hey, you're going to Hawaii! Try the rum punch...delicious! But in comparison to other airlines I've been on to/from Hawaii, nothing exceptionally good or bad stood out. So for me, just another average flight.

3-25-22 & 3-29-22 We flew round trip on Hawaiian to Sacramento. I was getting rock fever and needed to holoholo. Everything seems more streamlined at this hub from check in, boarding, on board flight and flight take off to landing. I love how it was less busy so fewer crowds and even at baggage claim the wait time was quick to retrieve your luggage . They did everything effortlessly. If your opu(belly) is beyond the normal girth, you can ask the flight attendant for a seat belt extension. The downfall of being a chub-a-lub is that the food tray cannot lie flat for your in flight beverage and snack or meal. Hawaiian takes great pride in their complimentary meal service. Lunch and dinner is okay. The lacking 5 th star is because I really hope they reconsider their breakfast complimentary snack. Although the pineapple shaped cookie is sweet and buttery and the oatmeal cookie is also very sweet in taste, the heated sandwich leaves much to be desired. With customers having a bunch of food allergies or health issues to consider and take into account the cost to prepare and provide the meal perhaps an alternative to that sandwich could be re-thought. Now that the State of Hawaii Safe Travel Program has ended it's way less cumbersome to commute without having to get your special wrist band to avoid quarantine but the flip side is hopefully the visitors have been vaccinated for the safety of the other passengers, flight crew and kamaaina they come into contact with during their stay. Other than that, everything else was great very glad Hawaiian Airlines is around.

One of the better airlines I flew on. We flew this airline last year and this year as well. Both times I was not disappointed. Last year , we had to do all the covid protocols for Hawaii, Hawaiian airlines provided links and vital information on how , when and where (protocols). This year , we didn't have to since they fully opened up. I'm finally reviewing this airline because two months ago we book on anther airline (I won't mention the airline) and I probably had one of my worst experience. . There's huge difference in service and meals . They served warm Meals , cookies and choices of juice, water or sodas. They also have screens i from of you so you can watch movies-tv series , listen to music and or play Games. I watched 2 movies and before you know it , the plane is preparing to land. We booked on the much roomier airbus 330 , a wide plane. Two aisle, window seating is only by pair. We had our own two seats by the window, lots of legroom and their bathrooms I noticed it's much roomier. Definitely will be booking Hawaiian Airlines next time we go back to Hawaii.

OMG! What has happened to Hawaiian Airlines? They used to be great, Now they're just a bunch of unhappy, grumpy employees with lousy service. No wonder they are losing so much business and their stock has plummeted to less than half of what it used to be. From check in all the way to pushback off the gate, all we got was attitude and we bought First Class tickets too. No one smiles here anymore. So sad. For a great time in the Islands, we had to endure 5 1/2 of terrible service. We'll stick with Alaska Airlines and now, the new Hawaiian Islands champion of great service, Southwest Airlines. Southwest Airlines is the new king of the Islands! I don't think Hawaiian Airlines will be around much longer. Unfortunately, some other airline will get these grumpsters.

SACRAMENTO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT @ SACRAMENTO…read more This was my first time flying through Sacramento International Airport, and overall I had a pretty good experience. One of the first things you'll notice is the giant red rabbit sculpture in the main area, which is definitely a fun and unique feature of the airport. I flew out of Terminal B with Alaska Airlines. My return flight was delayed, but it honestly wasn't too bad. The airport feels spacious, and there wasn't much traffic or congestion while I was there. The bathrooms were clean, and there was a decent variety of food options throughout the terminal. The one downside was the lounge. I would honestly give it a 0/10. The line was incredibly long, and it didn't seem worth the wait unless you're arriving several hours before your flight. We ended up skipping it altogether. One thing I noticed is that the bathrooms can be a little difficult to find since they aren't as visible or frequent as in some other airports, but they are spread throughout the terminal. Overall, Sacramento International Airport provided a solid travel experience. It was clean, easy to navigate, and much less hectic than many larger airports. I would definitely fly through here again.

I'll admit I was a little nervous going into it since it's such a change from how Southwest has always done things, but it was surprisingly smooth. Everything felt easy, like they had been doing it this way for years. And honestly, not having everyone rush to line up and grab their seat was such a nice change. We did pay for the upgrade for extra leg room, and it was 100% worth it. It made the whole flight feel more comfortable, especially for a longer travel day. One thing that stood out was the snack selection. There were so many options, from honey or salted pistachios to Oreos, ginger snap or graham cracker cinnamon cookies, and even garlic pretzel twists. Everything we tried was actually really good, which isn't always the case with airplane snacks. I also loved that the cups are now made from bamboo, which felt like a nice, more thoughtful touch. Everything on board felt really clean, and I believe we were on one of the newer 800 planes, which definitely added to the overall experience. Helpful tip: If you're on the fence, the extra leg room upgrade is worth it, and the new seating setup actually makes boarding feel way less stressful. It ended up being a much better experience than I expected, and I'd absolutely do it this way again.

My service received on May 22/23 & 29th from the phone agents, desk agents and flight attendants will now be used as examples for my classes. It all started with an unapproved charge on my credit card made 2days prior to my vacation starting. Yes, when I saw the charge I instantly closed my account and contacted United. I spoke to Harvey. I was told he couldn't do anything but he said he would put a note to other United agents on my account, alerting them that my credit card was compromised and to not make any changes to my reservation. He told me to speak to the ticketing agent at the airport to get a refund and put back in my original seat assignment. Sue at United front desk couldnt help me get my original seats either and offered me no help at all other than to tell me "I can move you back but it's going to cost you more". So, because I technically paid for it, I had 1st class seats for a 2hr flight Roanoke Virginia. First Class, basically a bigger seat and that's it. We got asked half way through our flight if we wanted a drink and snack. I also wasn't asked if I minded, or was allergic, to the huge dog and owner they moved into the empty seats behind me. Did the lady and her dog pay for those two empty seats? I don't think so, but I was made to pay for mine. Now, it's time for my flights home. Day before my flights I go to the app to check-in and the app is showing No Flights Scheduled. I call and speak to a service rep and she says that she had no idea why my flights were cancelled but she was able to reinstated all my seat assignments without any problems or up charge. Fast forward, we check in for our flights to Richmond/ Chicago/Sacramento and get to to our gate and see the flight is 5hs delayed because they "have no crew". We were automatically redirected on another flight and seats randomly given to me. I saw I was separated from my husband and scanned a QR code by the gate, spoke to an agent who huffs & puffs to change our seats and put them together. When we arrive in Denver we rush over to our new gate and with a few minutes to spare we pre check with the agent confirming we didn't neef new bording passes for this flight to Sacrament. He doesn't even look at us and says "if it says Sacramento on it you're fine" and brushes us off. Well what do you think happens? We go to get on our flight, boarding passes don't work, and this POS starts acting like it's our fault we're holding up the line. Not only was his demeanor rude he separated my husband and my seats. Seriously crash landed in Sacramento which caused the crew to be unable to open the cargo door and remove our luggage. We only found this out after we were standing around 30-40mins with the other passengers in baggage claim. Finally luggage starts moving through and an hour later my husband and I are staring at an empty luggage conveyor belt. Our luggage was missing. Reported my luggage missing in that little room everyone hopes to never be in. The woman says your luggage is in Chicago, we'll text you along the way to keep you updated on where your luggage is. She even sent me a practice text. That was the first and last text I received regarding my bags. Before we left she said we'll deliver your bags probably by morning. By 9am and receiving no text and nothing on the app, I called the Baggage Recovery Center, gave my last name and confirmation number and he instantly told me my luggage was on its way to California and would probably be out to me by noon/1. By 2:30 and no word about my luggage I call the Baggage Recovery Center again and told the woman, Pria, that I wanted an update on my bags. She said "what's wrong with your bags". Conversation ended with her saying my bags will arrive in 6-8hrs. Which we all know is another way of saying "I don't know". In the end, my husband and I got home alive and our luggage did arrive a day later. But it's still unfortunate that the horrible feeling United has given me is trumping the joy I had on vacation. But that's how bad service goes, it stays longer and travels farther than good.

Not to mention organized aircraft safety instructions. Demonstrating proper use of each step for instruction. And also an assorted snack tray with a variety of options to accomdate each passenger. I couldnt be more pleased with the expectations of a long flight.

If I could give JetBlue a 0 I would. I flight from SF to NYC continued to be delayed. We ended up…read moremissing our connecting flight. The customer service person told us they can rebook our flight the following day and JetBlue will pay for a hotel. She said we can wait for the voucher or submit the receipts and get reimbursed. By this time we didn't want to wait in the airport for 2-3 hours so we chose the later. We got home and they gave us the runaround, then said they will not compensate us. The customer service person even told us where to stay and they would give us $12 a day for food. We all joked about what you can buy for $12. Boy was this a scam!! I will never fly them again.

So I fly to Mexico a lot-with the wife being from Jalisco,we tend to go back pretty often and when…read morewe do it's almost always on Volaris. In the past we have flown to Guadalajara and to Cabo-this time we were flying to Mexico City for the 1st time. Volaris for sure is a budget airline-they nickel and dime you for every little thing-we tried to add a bag last minute and boom $150 each way-straight crazy, luckily it was a kid-less trip so carry-ons it was. That being said-the airfares themselves are cheap. They don't offer free refreshments but do offer free water in a cup.You have to purchase sodas or beers-I ended up buying 2 bottle waters and a Diet Coke for around $9-that got me thru a 4 hour flight pretty easily. Planing and De-planing was pretty fun as we had to take a bus to and from the plane then climb up the stairs to the plane out on the airstrip-that always feels more fun for some reason. The seats inside are comparable to the "bidirectional"named airline that recently made news with their change to no more free luggage and assigned seating now, feels very similar in regards to comfort and legroom to that airline. No WiFi on Volaris flights at this time-they do have an entertainment type network you can access during your flight but it costs around $2 to access it. In closing-if you ever find yourself headed to Mexico and looking for a no frills airline experience that will save u a few shuckles-I guess I do recommend Volaris Airlines since I seem to keep using them over and over again. PS-Pro Tip-if you ever find yourself traveling domestically within Mexico,I 100% recommend Volaris-they are so cheap-I paid like $31 to fly from Guadalajara to Puerto Vallarta last year-so cheap-that I fully recommend-Be Safe Out There.

Remember when we used to go places? The time right before the Rona we took a megabus to the city,…read moreand it went well all things considered. I would do it again. Beats traffic, parking, and other hassles in the city if you prefer not to deal with those things. The driver on the way there was a lot less weird than the one we had coming back to Sac. No talking to herself and to traffic, etc. My charger outlet worked. I was happy. It took us less than an hour and a half to get to San Francisco from Sacramento, without the bother of parking and traffic. Effortless. Cost was around $13 one way. Our bus wasn't crowded at all. Were they Amish? We never did find out. The comfortable air conditioning vents helped with the armpit smell that wafted from...places... It doesn't pick up over at the bus hub on 65th anymore (University/65th Lightrail station). Instead you'll need to grab megabus from under the freeway, on 6th between W & X. There will be a queue to tip you off.

First time on Megabus, but definitely not my last. I had to get to San Francisco today without my…read morecar and had the choice of the Amtrack then bus, Bart, uber, or Megabus. I did a little research and found the Megabus website with a pick up at the 65th Bus station in Sacramento with a drop off in San Francisco on Townsend between 4th and 5th street. That might be a perfect situation for those going to the Giants game as it lets off literally a few blocks from AT&T Park. We chose the 9:30am bus with a 11:30am arrival in Sn Francisco. Research noted that you cue up in line as most (but not all) seats are first come first served. We arrived 30 min ahead and were 5th and 6th in line. The bus arrived at 9:10and we were on by 9:10. Reserved seats can be purchased for an additional $1 fee as well. There are Table and front row seats for $5 or $7 more as well. Bus is clean, comfortable. We sat on the upper level, with a nice view. The only negative for me is that the bus ride is "soft". What I mean is that our bus had that Cadillac soft rolling feel and was slowly rocking up and down with every bump in the road. So for those of you that get car sick easily, you have been forewarned. Reservations are done online, and the process is incredibly easy. For $9 plus the $1 reservation fee for this trip, I found it a great deal. Plus not having to drive, free wi fi, no toll made the trip well worth it. Food is allowed on bus, and there is a restroom on board as well. I'll be back to use on the next day game for the Giants!
