Today I was traveling with a buddy from Houston to St. Louis. I told him when we board to sit on the aisle of row 9 cause that is where they start serving drinks from and your still close to the front. So there we were both on the Aisle of Row 9 and I got skipped by Kelly. But my buddy got his drink. Zina who was serving the front of the cabin asked if I had ordered and I said I had not. Eventually Kelly came and apologized. It became a joke between the flight crew and us the rest of the flight. Kudos to Zina and Kelly from flight 694 for her excellent service and making an early morning flight enjoyable.

I already miss the days when SWA's planes had the vacant middle seat. Boarding and deplaning was faster, and no getting chummy with strangers. No more. The flight attendant on my last flight said as much during his preflight PA, "This is a completely full flight. No empty seats. We lost a lot of money during the past year and we got to start making it up." I appreciate the honesty.

It's the only way to go when you're flying domestic in my opinion. Spacious, comfortable seating, 2 FREE checked bags, on-flight refreshments (usually peanuts or pretzels). Reward Members get free drink coupons redeemable for on-flight alcoholic libations (which I personally love). SW has the cheapest direct flights for my travel needs, flight attendants are always pleasant and the app works perfect with my passbook for boarding pass storage. Beware last minute delays which SW are notorious for but I don't mind because the delays are usually maintenance issues. I'd rather arrive alive!

The plane was cooler than I would have preferred.

So, don't get me wrong, I love Southwest. I have grown to hate flying in general, but Southwest is definitely, hands down, better than all of the other bitter, pissed off carriers that offer a cranky alternative to SWA for more money. However, lately, I've had three separate flights on SWA that were so cold that my teeth were chattering. The first time this happened was just a few weeks ago while flying to Fort Myers. Being summer in Saint Louis, I was dressed in shorts with a light weight shirt. Damn it was cold! I worked in a butcher shop in college and the meat locker was only slightly colder than the cabin on this flight. That said, the low humidity and slightly above freezing temperature would be ideal for aging a New York strip loin. Anyway, other passengers were complaining so I kept my opinion to myself. Finally, with about 30 minutes to endure, the captain turned up the heat. I thought to myself, whatever, mistakes happen, move on. Then, one week later, same thing. This time I tell the flight attendant that it's really cold. She tells me that other passengers have mentioned this to her. So I'm thinking...And??? Again, two hours of Ice Station Zebra later, they announce that the captain has turned the heat up just in time for landing and de planing. WTF? Finally, I'm flying from Laguardia to Milwaukee last week and the plane is crazy cold. It's like SWA is transporting a recently harvested heart and they are rushing it to a dying child in Milwaukee but they've run out of ice. Thirty minutes before landing, enough people have pleaded for relief that the captain apologizes for the cold air and cranks the heat up. I feel much more comfortable myself, but now I feel guilty about the kid that needed the fresh heart. Anyway, after my lips returned from blue to normal inside Milwaukee's terminal, I decided that it was time to write about this and speculate why? I have some theories: They are able to keep prices low through the money they save by not installing $40 thermostats on their $50,000,000 737's? They are indeed aging beef in secret compartments as a side enterprise? By getting the cabin crazy cold, they are able to demonstrate responsiveness to customer complaints by eventually raising the temperature to normal to the glee of everyone? Or, finally, there is only just so much heat that a modern Boeing 737 can generate over a 2 to 3 hour flight so they have to save it all up until just the right moment before mass passenger frostbite sets in? Whatever the real reason is behind this new Freeze Em And Thaw Em policy, I'll remain a SWA customer. The legacy carriers are uncaring, pissed off, incompetent examples of group mediocrity. On the other hand, Southwest may be cold, but they are friendly.

The cattle call takes some getting used to but the cancellation policy and refunds at the drop of a hat and overall reasonable prices bring you back. It's little wonder that they continue to grow.. the emergency seats are their first class lol

I saw a "senior citizen" SWA Flight Attendant with a big tummy and she was wearing a tight uniform shirt. Disgusting!

When you are flying on Alaska, typically they will force passengers to check their bags if the flight is close to full. Given I bought a cheap seat, it was inevitable that I had to gate check it. Expect the same experience if you buy a Basic Economy ticket. After gate checking my bag, my seat was changed twice including once when I was boarding. On the plus side, I got moved from a seat in the back to Premium. Due to upgrade, I was able to get some free wine. While the flight overall was great, my checked bag took a half hour to arrive which was above their Bag Guarantee timeframe. But most notably, I was overcharged for a meal that I ordered. It was extremely difficult to try to fix the problem. You have to call or email Customer Care as the text support reps can't help with this. It did not seem worth it to call as the waiting times were not worth the difference so I sent an email. The response time was horrible as I did not get a response until nearly a month later. They could not fix the extra charge, but did give me a discount code which seems reasonable. Having flown Alaska for a long time, I feel that they are not as customer friendly as before, which was what they built their reputation on. There is a lot to improve on in regard to customer care if they want to become a leading global carrier.

Told they were to be open for early fir baggage, no one at gate, no way to get ahold of them…read more Called the airline help number, over an hour wait. Got the call back and was informed they were supposed to be there, and they had no way to contact or help, so sorry-by-by. Even though we're told to be there hours early to help them out. Very frustrating.
