I've flown Southwest several times and I'm also a Rapid Rewards member, so I earn points on my purchases, which is a nice perk. I've had a lot of good experiences flying with Southwest, especially when using points for flights. The check-in process was simple and easy, and boarding went smoothly. Our flight was delayed about 30 minutes, but it wasn't a big deal, and we still got to our destination pretty quickly. The flight itself was comfortable and overall a great experience. One thing I have noticed is that Southwest doesn't seem to offer as many complimentary drinks as they used to. They used to come around with drinks quite frequently, but that seems to have decreased. While it is no longer open seat, it is assigned seats but the system is very good so I enjoy it. The staff from the front desk to the flight attendants all the way to the pilots are always so nice and attentive. I've never had an issue flying southwest. For some context I am hard of hearing. So with said disability- my ticket says accommodation, now while in the system it says someone is "deaf or hard of hearing" on the plane they don't know it's me until I say something. I'm always greeted kindly and checked on often. I pre-board and my flight attendant is made aware of my special accommodations and I go from there. No feeling different just the extra help and I go about my way. I've never had a plan delay on southwest flights and the process is always smooth. A little joke here and there eases my anxiety as well, so it's much appreciated. They lose one star because now that it's assigned seating the prices have spiked, ticket prices and bag prices. Even though it's still free carry on and free personal, checked bags are pricey. read more

Southwest Airlines is definitely one of the worst airlines to choose. Their planes are old cramped and tight. When you have a delay they provide little updated and when they cancel your flight they don't even announce it. Recently I was flying from Orlando to Providence and my flight continued to be delayed until eventually became canceled at around. 10:30 at night. They provided no assistance and when I requested my checked bag back to go and find a hotel they said I would likely have to wait 5 hours for them to retrieve it. I had to leave the airport without my luggage and without my medicine and pay for a taxi to and from and for a very expensive hotel. The next morning I returned to the airport to find out they would only provide me with $15 for the inconvenience they put me through. Not to mention that my newly scheduled flight by Southwest was put through Nashville making my original flight into an all day travel nightmare. Their crews are usually sarcastic and those that try and help appear to be at their wits end at working for this airline. In addition most of the planes do not have any outlets or infotainment systems. They provide you with free WiFi but good luck trying to connect to it. Their beverage service also sucks because they dont even provide you with the entire beverage can. Their current snacks are also horribly salty and disgusting. I'm going to be a little Biased now, because end of the Day Southwest pulled through. So my friend and I enjoyed a great trip in Cancun. Upon our return the stop was in Fort Lauderdale. Because it was Easter weekend and the weather was pretty bad along the East Coast, turns out the plane that was supposed to come from Atlanta to Fort Lauderdale was canceled. We didn't know this. We waited for hours for updates Finally around 11 pm they told us they only had a plane that could provide seating for 140 passengers.. this caused chaos . There were 170 of us. I could go on but end of the day I talked to the customer service people before anyone else. They told me they would compensate us, but we would be on our own as far as finding a hotel for a flight the next day. They were also telling everyone else that they would be out of luck for finding flights since it was Easter weekend and all flights were booked. Luckily, the customer service agent found us two seats for the next day. They explained to us they had no hotels to provide us since they were already booked with other passengers who were stuck in the same situation. So we took their Amazing money vouchers (paid for our trip plus more) then we called Uber and got a room at a Motel 6 like 5 minutes away which only cost $112 tax included!!! We made the flight next day and we're Lucky because many people were stuck until Sunday! So I'm saying Thank You Southwest Airlines! You compensated us above and beyond, and I'm kinda glad we got bumped to be able to receive your awesome compensation!!! read more

Southwest Airlines made for an easy and comfortable transport to and from Baltimore, MD this past week for my long awaited and much needed vacation. With early online check-in 24 hours before, the bf and I were able to gain access both there and back to the A group for boarding. On Southwest, you choose your own seats and are either in A, B, or C group to board. No longer do you have to line up hours before to claim a good seat on the plane. . . simply line up in order just before the flight is boarding. Depending on where you are flying you are likely to find a great deal! Also, if you are willing to fly at odd hours or days of the week you may find some discounts this way. Their Ding application is another way to capture deals. Airport staff and in-flight attendants are friendly and outgoing. They seem to like to tell cheesy one-liners over the speakers and get a laugh out of their customers. Drinks and snacks are served in-flight, there is ample space in each seat, and plenty of overhead storage for carry-ons. You are allowed one carry-on and one personal bag. We did not run into a single problem with this airline. It is comfortable enough to get you from one place to the next with little to no hassle. What more could you ask for? read more

There were no hotel rooms avaliable due to the countless other people they screwed. They refused to refund us and gave us a partial credit for their airline to be used in the next year. They ruin lives, dreams, vacations, children's memories and bank accounts. I can't say enough bad about them. One star is far more than they deserve. I love Southwest Airlines. I fly them almost exclusively. I haven't flown in so long because of the pandemic that I forgot to check in and when I purchased my ticket I forgot to put that I was handicap. Because I was traveling alone it was a long walk to the gate and when I got there I explained my predicament and I was helped immediately. They ordered a wheelchair for me and I was able to board sooner so that I could be more comfortable with my disability. They're friendly and nice and although I haven't traveled in a long time and I was nervous about it, they made me feel comfortable and safe. read more

So.....I am A list. Priority boarding. A 25. My son is 14 and, although not a youngster, not comfortable waiting alone in a terminal to board. He got B59. Asked if he could board with me. Flatly refused. Said needed to "uphold the integrity of the boarding process." Integrity means if you pay them extra money you will get better treatment by their definition I guess. An airline that jokes about crashing while instructing you about seatbelts plays the integrity card. Sorry Southwest, accommodating a child who is anxious about boarding separately from his father (yes I could drop back and board with him but the last time I did that we had to sit separately) shows integrity. I like flying this airline but I wasn't able to check in online. I called and was told they were problems with their computers. So I went from an A to a C. Finally 4 hours before boarding I was able to print only half of my boarding passes. I was concerned but all was taken care of at curb side check in. Except I am still a C. South west was terrible during COVID. Apparently you only can keep your credits for cancelling if you did it during a certain 3 month period that we were not made aware of. We cancelled in October 2020, because we had other more important things on our mind during that time... you know... pandemic and all, and were told our credits would be good for a year. What they didn't specify is it wasn't a year from cancellation, it was a year from the original purchase date. Guess I'm an idiot for booking months in advance like a normal person. Went to buy tickets for this October and we're told our credits expired in 1 week, no problem ok we're booking early again, nope we have to FLY within the week. So we lost $200 and no supervisor could help because "the computer doesn't let us" after waiting 2 literal hours on hold. I work in customer service for a fortune 5 company and southwest level of service was just pathetic. I will actively avoid this airline even if it means giving more to jet blue. read more

I was a youth traveler by myself flying alone for the first time. My flight was supposed to take off around 9:25 pm. We were delayed many times and then they cancelled our flight and moved us to a different plane but then they put us back on the original plane. But I was scared and alone. We did not end up taking off until around 1:00 am. Will not be looking toward flying with Southwest again. read more

The pilot announced that there would be some bumps due to the rain before anyone got on the plane just to warn people to use the restrooms here at the terminal since there would be minimal opportunities to get up in the plane. I flew alone from Baltimore into TF Green with 3 children under the age of 4, our flight ended up leaving an hour late which threw off my plans to have them awake until we landed. Once on the plane they all feel asleep and didnt make a peep until a few minutes before landing when my 2 year old woke up crying and before he could tell me what was wrong threw up all over himself. The flight staff rushed to get my everything I needed to clean him up before they had to jump into there seats for landing. Even offering to hold my 10 month old. After landing they were kind enough to page Brit - my new favorite southwest terminal worked who came on the plane and just said "whatever you need I am here to help you" while I held the little ones and comforted my 2 year old she carried my diaper bag and held my 4 year olds hand and chatted with her to keep her calm in the turmoil. She offered us a wheelchair and said she would stay with us as long as we needed her. Thank you southwest! read more

Travel almost weekly from PVD around the country. Have very few issues, and when we do have them they pony up. With the Max being grounded they are using planes that should be maintenances more often and as a result they are having more issues, including cleanliness. Get the occasional jerk flight attendant but they are rare. The gate staff at PVD is very good. read more

I love how people who fly Southwest get so vicious while waiting in line. Thank goodness Southwest changed their policy to the numbered spots...remember when folks would line up hours ahead of time just to be the first one? Eek what a nightmare. The way it works now is to check in 24 hours in advance (at the earliest), get assigned a number/letter and find that spot in line. No need to stalk the A-B-C sections anymore. I also love how Southwest offers a free non-alcoholic drink and a small snack on their flights. Southwest has always been such a great airline to fly. Anytime I've ever had issues arise, they've handled them well. I must say though that rarely have issues come up that were negative. I fly a lot and mostly Southwest and their crews are by far my favorite. I love their silly attitudes and songs. If you're looking for a "cheap but not in the bad way" airline, I suggest Southwest. read more

If I'm traveling to a city that Southwest flies to I won't even look at other airlines...SWA is by far my favorite airline that flies out of TF Green (although I'm looking forward to the arrival of JetBlue as they have TVs in the seats!). SWA is beginning to reconfigure their seats so you will no longer have the 1st class-like exit row to select (which if I was lucky enough to get was awesome as I'm 6'5"), but their regular seats are comfy enough. They also give you free snacks on their flights and sometimes the flight attendants will let you choose what you want and however much you want. You can also pay $20 for EarlyBird check-in which means SWA will automatically check you in so you usually get an A ticket. I'm still on the fence about the boarding process as your number dictates your place in line and I feel like I'm a jerk when it's time to line up and I try to line myself up in order. Me: "Hi, what number do you have? I have 23." Response: "Grrrrrrr" Me: "Sniff...sorry" However, this beats other airlines where as soon as the gate person announces that boarding is about to begin everyone, regardless of their seat assignment, congregates in front of the line as if they won't be able to board when their seat position is called. Plus I hate the ole' "OK Super First Class, your turn! OK now those with Diamond Preferred Frequent Traveler Status can board! OK now those with our Super Cool Credit Card can board!" So annoying. Everyone is equal on SWA aside from the business travelers who get preferred boarding numbers, but they are few and far between and I'm ok with them boarding first. read more

I am a fan of Southwest for many reasons...the price to wherever i'm going is almost always cheaper than any other airline, the people at the gate are significantly nicer to deal with when there are weather challenges, and don't whack you with extra charges when you have to change your plans. They actually don't make it a nightmare to fly! As far as their seat assignment system...you do have to remember to check in 24 hours in advance, which is a bit of a pain...but it is better than how it use to be (cattle call lines)...for tis reason, it's 4 stars instead of 5. Flight was cancelled 3 hours before take-off. I was notified by email. Why not a phone call with a reason for the cancellation?!?! I call the number listed for ticketing contained in the email and was then on hold 26 minutes and 14 seconds before speaking to anyone. I was hen told that the staff was not informed as to why the flight was cancelled. I check the weather, so that was not an issue. I'm still waiting for my refund! This was my first and last experience with Southwest Airlines! read more

Yesterday after checking in and printing my boarding passes I received 4 email messages each delaying my flight until finally they canceled it altogether. I called to reschedule however all agents were busy so I opted twice for them to call me back in 15 mins. After waiting I tried a third time and remained on the line for 30 minutes until I heard from an agent. She told me no flights out of Providence for Southwest all day! I asked her to try Boston since my DH is expected to return to work tomorrow she gave us a choice of 3 morning flights. We picked our flight and tried to check in and get boarding passes. No luck with the passes. We might still be waiting for a call back had I grown impatient. Thank goodness the agent was helpful. Similar issue getting to Providence very odd that Southwest is having all these delays and cancellations. read more

People who works here just stands around & talk to each other regardless if you need help or check in as A list preferred, they treat you like crap. Here, they make you do everything on your own while they stand there & point their fingers telling you what to do. What's the point of having reps here if you basically have to do everything? These people need real customer service trainings. For example, greet people with a respectful tone instead of just glaring at customer then disregard them to carry on with their personal conversation ("I've been trying to look for comfortable heels to wear"...) This is the second horrible rating for this airline from providence for the same reason. So our plane is scheduled from PVD to MCO for a 1:10 departure. So we get told our aircraft blew out 2 tires coming in and PVD has only one. About 15 mins go by and they tell us the solution is to put us all on a new plane from Chicago at 5:45. Essentially a 5 hour delay. So think about this this moronic airline cannot get a 737 spare tire from another 737 carrier in PVD? Boston is up the road 70 mins away and has lots of service out of Boston? They can't get a spare tire from their own operation in Boston or from another 737 carrier there . Again I say Southwest Airlines s..is! read more

Southwest Airlines is the largest carrier out of T.F. Green and usually has the longest line at their counters during the busy times at 6:00 am and 3:00 pm. It is worth the couple of extra dollars for the tip to use the curbside check in. read more

They fly in the air and stuff. Seats are a tad crowded. But the flight attendants are funny and nice (usually). The reward program is great, you get to pass security lines at the airport when your reach A-List. Luggage seems to always be at the arrival when I check it. I used to think southwest was the way to go but this one horrible experience has completely changed my opinion forever. We were not only delayed in the airport at Midway Chicago, but we were delayed ON the plane for 3 HOURS.... Sitting at the gate without moving. We were told it would be 25 minutes and with no update until 3 hours passed. The weather wasn't great but an update would've been nice. When I finally got to TF Green my baggage claim was the same at 3 other flights so it was unbearably crowded. Then, along with about 75 other people from different flights, my bag didn't show up. I stood in line for 2.5 hours to even speak with someone. Once again no update or concern shown on the staffs part.... Obviously something went wrong but no one decided to inform us where all of our belongings were. One person was in the baggage service area while we all stood in line for hours and staff members actually came out of the back, snapped pictures of the line (wtf?) and proceeded into the back. When I finally got up there they had basically no information and said my bag would be delivered to me tomorrow. Well no call so far and I'm not counting on it. So I will absolutely never fly them again for their ignorant staff and blatant irresponsibility/care to inform us anything. read more

Just LOVE being treated like cattle!!! #A16 and A17 could NOT find 2 seats together on our connecting flight. Kid parents or grandparents in the aisle and window seat..middle seats had diaper bags or toys on them.. Seat choice is the way to go,people! read more
