I know that the recent reviews have mentioned issues with the service, but I came on a weekend morning and while there was only one person that was working, and took a bit of time, the worker was incredibly friendly and I did not have a bad experience. I ended up getting a havana latte (latte + ?condensed milk), regular latte, a cold brew with honey lavender foam, and an almond croissant. As with a lot of the coffee places in the area, the baked goods are from Starter bakery and always solid. I REALLY enjoyed my cold brew and flavored foam. This is definitely a drink I would come back for. I liked the ability to customize the foam. It was a good mix of slightly bitter from the cold brew, and depending on how I mixed it, the sweetness of the foam. The havana latte was not my favorite, it was just a sweet tasting latte, but nothing too special. I was just interested in trying out their new offerings. The latte was solid. read more

I saw some beautiful latte art in other review photos and that they roast their own beans too, so I had some expectations for a quality coffee here. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case for me today. I ordered a flat white, and my husband ordered an iced honey lavender latte. My flat white had absolutely no art on the surface at all. If I'm paying $5 outside for a coffee, I'd expect it to look more professionally made. Then, it just tasted burnt. The (whole) milk was not steamed well, and had a thin, watery texture. It didn't taste creamy at all either, so I was mainly tasting the burnt espresso flavors. Always sad to feel like money was wasted when I literally could've had a better cup at home. read more

Such a cute coffee shop! I was passing by the area and wanted to pick up a quick coffee so Yelp lead me to Souvenir Coffee. Parking here is all street parking and on a busy weekday morning, it wasn't too hard to find a close enough spot. I parked around the corner and walked the short block over. The shop is small and when I arrived, there were a handful of folks sitting, working, and chatting. There was only one barista working and she was taking + making orders as efficiently as possible. Overall, with someone in front of me, I probably only waited about 10-15 minutes to order and get my drinks. I went with their brown sugar sage latte to try something different. You get a reallyyyyy subtle sage flavor and it mostly tastes like a brown sugar latte. Delicious either way! They also offer other specialty drinks like the havana latte (condensed milk with espresso), vietnamese coffee (condensed milk with coffee), and a honey lavender latte. Prices are pretty regular in comparison to other coffee shops. Expect to pay $5-6 for specialty/flavored drinks. Their classic espresso drinks will be around $4-5. They also sell beans with some older roasted beans on special sale. If you plan to dine in, they also have games and books for you to enjoy. read more

Not epic, but a reliable local coffee shop. They do have a light roast if you're looking for that. Some amount of baked goods, but it's really the coffee. Nice Solano Ave location for chilling with a coffee, also right at a bus stop and near the intersection of San Pablo and Solano. Parking can be hit or miss depending on time/day. Not big, so it's sort of a 'locals' scene. Lot's of outdoor seating with tables and city provided benches. Tattoo parlor nearby if you get inspired! read more

Also, they have been closing at random hours for lunch break that lasts 1 hr or more at random times (the other day at 2pm, today at 2:20pm they closed for lunch break, and 40 mins later we are still all here outside waiting for someone to open the door). Went here to work for a bit and had an okay experience. It started off well: there was plenty of seating outside and the service was wonderful. However I had quite a bit of trouble with the wifi (which I was warned was pretty weak). In terms of food, the matcha latte was very good, but the jalapeño popper bagel was pretty bland (especially for $8!) Needless to say I was not impressed at the end of the day. Sticky tables, untrained and rude staff member. I get that the young lady who took our order on a Monday morning was having a rough day but to come to our table and ask us to keep it down because she was hangover is not ok (we were having a normal staff meeting, keeping voices at normal volume). On hindsight's, the whole thing is a bit hilarious but the owner should find this pretty serious as none of us are not coming back! They should train the staff better. read more

Reading a review on 2/11/23 and wondering if we went to the same coffee shop...... I too ordered an oat milk latte and had a polar opposite experience. The oatmilk was perfectly steamed, and plenty fatty creating hard-to-come-by creaminess. The espresso was a little acidic but paired wonderfully by the sweet and creamy oat milk. I was recommended this spot by a local, who claims this shop is abundantly better than its' neighboring. My experience deems the same. Ordered the Viet coffee and oatmilk latte. Viet coffee was watered down and had horrendous condensed milk to coffee ratio. Coffee itself was too sour in that drink too. Oat milk latte also tasted watery and had a weirdly under-roasted coffee bean flavor. Worker also soilled The Viet coffee to where it overflowed on tbe sides and didnt even bother trting to clean it up before handing it to us. When I asked him to wet a napkin so we could clean ir ourselves he used the hot boiling water to wet the napkin to hand it to us. 0/10, terrible experience, would recommend closing down. But tbf it waa prob the worker not having the most common sense so mgmt should train him up more before letting him man the store himself. read more

We were in the area and decided to stop here. There was plenty of street parking. It's a small coffee shop but it has a lot of seating. There's a long section of seating that probably fits 10 people. The cute little cafe is located on Solano Ave. right next to Mr. Dewie's with street parking only. The friendly hard working barista greeted us when we arrived. Looking at the menu they have your classic coffee, espressos, and tea drinks. Along with various small bites such as quiches, sandwiches, and pastries on display. Once we figured out what we wanted, we ordered and paid at the counter. The barista immediately made our drinks and called them out. I got the Iced Chai Latte with Almond Milk. Their nondairy options include almond and oat milk and you have the option of a dine-in or to-go cup. The latte was a deliciously smooth and light balance of sweetness and spice. My friends ordered their own pastries and drinks which they enjoyed! We caught up inside the cafe where they have counter seats, a few tables, and outdoor seating. The inside of the cafe is simple, quiet, and airy. They have a bathroom available as well. Along with their delicious food and reasonably priced drinks they sell coffee beans and clothing. This place is the worst. 7am opening means you open at 7am. I went by at 7am today, saw the barista wandering around but the door was locked. Came back at 7:10 and the barista was behind the counter checking her phone but the door still locked. One other experience here recently had two young kids as the barista. I asked for Banana bread, they were warming it up in the back and totally forgot about it. I had to remind them to go back and get it. Hal's up the road provides better service and is actually open on time. Or there is Highwire too. read more

Souvenir is a cute little coffee shop towards the San Pablo end of Solano. By cute and little I do mean cute and little. There is seating for maybe 20? people at most. Very cute though, with lots of natural light and bright wood decor. That aside, Souvenir has some of my favorite coffee and beans in the area. Their palette tends towards the side of mellow flavors and less sweet - this is not the place to come satisfy your sweet tooth. Smooth lattes and understated slightly dark chocolatey mochas. Not to mention their pastry selection - lots of good choices here like chocolate croissants, quiches, cookies, and brownies. If you make your own coffee at home, I highly recommend buying a bag of their beans - they all have a lot of personality, and there are even tasting notes on the bag to help you choose. Plus you get a free cup of brewed coffee if you buy a bag of beans. Cool beans! read more

Well, it's not like there aren't enough places to get a cup of coffee on this end of Solano Avenue in Albany. Royal Ground is just across the street, and Tay Tay, Hal's, and Highwire are just down the road. If you're really desperate, you can get one at Happy Donut, but don't blame me for the cruller in your mouth. This walk-in closet of a spot just beckoned me, I suppose, simply because it's so clean and white and I don't mean the clientele. Well, maybe. Oh wait, it does have an orange back wall. Regardless, I came in the first time for a $3.50 Medium Roast Coffee which I found quite pleasing (photo: http://bit.ly/36JLS5n). The Solano Blend was quite rich tasting. In between my morning errands, I needed a cup of coffee. Walking on Solano, I chanced upon Souvenir Coffee and ventured inside. The interior has interior design notes one would expect from third wave coffee shops. Ample natural lighting and light wood notes define the ambiance. I ordered the day's black coffee, an Ethiopian Guji Gerbicho, priced at $3 for a 12oz cup. The tasting notes matched expectations - bright and floral, as one would expect from Ethiopian light roast. Note the brew comes in a batch rather than as its own pour over, which I think seems acceptable given the lower price range. Otherwise, the venue seems relaxing (I spotted lots of studying and reading). read more

Walked in with my boyfriend, and the shop wasn't very busy. We waited at the register, ready to order, for over 5 minutes while the barista behind the counter made a drink. My husband and I have been coming to this location of Souvenir since they opened whenever we are in the Emeryville or Albany area. The cafe is family friendly and offers a variety of coffee blends and also kid friendly (or adult friendly :D ) drinks as well! I personally love their homemade lemonade and Hot Chocolate in addition to their coffee. The staff is friendly and personable and has always made us feel welcome. We've also recently enjoyed the small outdoor seating they offer in front where we can park our bikes. Solano is a busy street but its nice to sit outside with our drink and get some fresh air during these times! read more

Souvenir has really fallen off in the last couple of years. Seems like there is a lot of staff turnover and the new staff are rude + they screw up the orders right and left. They have also way increased the coffee prices. It's 4.50 for a cop of coffee. What? There are so many great coffee shops on Solano with friendly staff who are actually happy to see you, remember your name and it's a fun social connection. But with Souvenir it's a new grumpy person every week. Real turn off. This is NOT a neighborhood coffee shop. My first time visiting this place there was an aurora of hostility among the baristas. I never minded it but I decided to paint red flags green. I ordered a Cortado among receiving my order, I noticed it was poorly presented (no design) lol. My first sip was rather sour an obvious sign of a pre mature pulled espresso shot. I came here a couple of times recently, and the staff and drinks were great. I didn't order coffee, just chai, but it was really good. The staff was way more cheerful than down the street, too.
