I like to come to this place to get some studying done and to grab a nice warm coffee. Located on the bottom of solano avenue in albany, it is a small coffee shop with a couple tables and a few bar seats. The people that work there are nice and always welcoming. If you become a regular like myself, they start to remember your name and your order. For me, that is kind of nice because I can walk in, put my stuff down and without even saying my order it's already prepared for me. Also, you can make yourself a name card where they can put stamps on it and I believe after 9 or 10 stamps you get a free bag of coffee or after 19-20 stamps you get a free drink. I think the only downfall about this place is if you are a person who likes to go to coffee shops to study, don't expect to get free wifi or any outlets...there are none. So make sure your computer or electronic is fully charged because once it's out of battery you're done. Overall though, I love the environment, the people and the vibe. I've visited my fair share of coffee shops here in the East Bay and this second location of Souvenir Coffee really hits all the marks for a great shop. Just opened 3 weeks ago, there is plenty of natural light and tables - great for a quick catch up with friends over coffee or a longer stay to study or read a book. Couches are comfortable and supportive. There currently is no WiFi available, so prepare to hotspot or talk to people face to face! The employees and owner are super friendly as well, which a plus. They seem very knowledge about coffee and are more than willing to talk to customers about their beans and blends. They also sell pastries and will probably sell sandwiches and salads in the future. Parking is easy to find on any of the streets stemming off of Solano. Will definitely be back! read more

I heard through the 'gram that a new coffee shop made it's way to Solano Ave. I'm always on the lookout for new coffee shops for casual hangs, so I had to come in and check it out! If you're into friendly faces and tasty treats, this is great spot for you! This is the second location for Souvenir Coffee and they just opened up yesterday! The space is light-filled (even on a rainy day) and has space for a dozen or so friends. They have a full coffee and tea menu, with not one but two chai options - black tea and herbal varieties - plus a great pastry selection. I had the herbal chai with oat milk today and it was delightful. They even poured out a sample of the tisane mix so I could smell it first. I usually have iced chais, but this one only comes hot - not complaining though. The flavors of the chai truly shined - a little floral, a little spicy, a little sweet - and it was served at the perfect temperature (to drink right away). I also had a feta and spinach croissant - yes! It was salty with a buttery crust, and the sesame seeds added nice nutty flavor. What a nice treat to start my day! Wow, I don't often do 5 stars on a first visit, but everything about this place earned it. Convenient location. Nice space with a decent amount of seating. Full beverage menu. Pretty much perfect flat white--perfect amount and consistency of depth. The roast could have been more flavorful, but it was strong enough. Fair, average prices for espresso drinks. Friendly staff. Some tables and some counter seating. It's right across from the landmark theater. There seems to be enough parking around that you'd find some without circling around for too long. They said they opened here about two months ago. It was quiet enough to work but no so quiet that you'd feel like a heel coming in with a few friends to hang out. Im rounding up because the barista was very nice but I did not enjoy the Vietnamese iced coffee at all. I knew the second a pitcher of premixed coffee came out it wasnt gonna be good. I guess I expected a phin, some strong coffee condensed milk and ice. Instead i got some watered down mess. Not the strong flavors i was hoping for. There's comfortable seating on the side with some pillows on the left side of the shop along with a high top bar on the right side. I got their chai latte with oat milk. It was OK at best. Would still give some of their other drinks a try if I go there again. If you are coming to do work, be aware that they don't have any outlets. Cute little coffee shop right by the cashew ice cream parlor. Not much seating but definitely a lovely clean environment. I would def come here to get work done- it has a great vibe. They have a small pastry offering and will make all the regular coffee drinks. Definitely a place for someone who likes richer more simplistic coffee- def not a Starbucks. I got an iced chai. It was fine, nothing to write home about- I think she added a little too much creamer because the chai flavor was very light. I am interested to come back and try their coffee beverages and a pastry. We went in to buy some coffee this morning, tipped in cash, and then came home, received a email notification that we have been charged $1.20 in tip in addition to the total we were told. It's not that we don't have $1.20 but why do that to us? It's already risky buying food from outside during the pandemic, we try to order out hoping to keep our local businesses running, we don't even need coffee seriously. This was my regular coffee shop when I lived a couple blocks away so I stop in whenever I'm in the neighborhood. Their almond and oat milk espresso drinks are truly some of the best I've ever had! Went in yesterday for coffee and muffin. Put credit card in, she runs it and I say "wait I like to leave a good tip". She says "don't worry I already added 15%!!!!! What!!! I strongly believe we should tip well, especially today. But it should be my choice. Not going back. Great place to get light work done, read a book, and enjoy some coffee. The crowd is off duty working professionals and Berkeley locals, not too many students with there extension cords and bulky backpacks. My barista (Ben, I believe) is super inviting and friendly and made my first experience memorable. Will be coming back soon as it's one of my favorite places to just chill and talk with friends. After seeing a movie at the Albany Twin, my friend and I were delighted to see that Souvenir Coffee was open and we went in for a coffee and to chat. The store was neat and clean with simple tables and chairs. It was nice to try a new place. After we bought coffee and sat down the young man at the counter said they were closing. We were surprised since it wasn't even dark yet and most cafes are open till at least 7:30 or 8:00 if not later in Berkeley. It might be good to stay open for the movie crowd to buy coffee and a treat. read more

I admit that I'm a tea person, and don't have the knowledge or experience to review Souvenir's coffee. But their tea is worth a taste. They have a short list of offerings, but oh so good! I don't often get excited about Earl Grey, but theirs, with a hint of rose, was exceptional. Plus, truly nice people behind the counter. I like finding places I can go with my coffee-drinking friends and still have a good time myself. This is one of them. read more

As a coffee snob and someone who's job depends on knowing where every single coffee place is to entertain clients and prospects, Souvenir Coffee is legit. It's at least as good if not better than Sightglass, Four Barrel, or Blue Bottle, and tucked away on this lovely stretch of Albany. Best of all it's got all the chops of a top coffee shop with none of the attitude. Especially important if bringing the kiddos. read more

Didn't know this place was here. Usually go to east bay coffee, but I got the Vietnamese and liked that it was not too sweet/not too strong. They take their coffee selection seriously. Wish they had outlets, but I'll just have to come back to flirt with the guys. read more
