I've been meaning to visit the Souvlaki Lady for years, but never found the time as she is all the way up in Astoria, just a block away from the Astoria-Ditmars (N) station. As luck would have it, I finally made time to embark on the trek, and I was so blown away by how delicious her souvlaki was that I opted to return a few days later, just in time for her Monday soup special, avgolemeno ($4 for small). It was spectacular-- bright and zesty with some chicken and rice thrown in for a fantastic cure for the Monday blues. A lot of the customers waiting in line seem to be regulars, but if you are a beginner like I am, I would definitely recommend the Souvlaki Lady ($9) with your choice of pork or chicken. Both are great options, all juicy and well-marinated and grilled to perfection. However, the Souvlaki Lady sauce is non-negotiable-- it's sweet, tangy, creamy, with a hint of spice that really pulls everything together. The souvlaki comes wrapped in a grilled pita, along with lettuce, tomatoes, and the sweetest sliced onions. I find it a little messy to eat so I would definitely recommend sitting down to enjoy it.

Cute little food truck in a very busy area, and with so many options around I'm glad I chose to stop here. There's no seating (as expected with a truck), but the food makes up for it. The ladies running it are super nice, and even though there's usually a small line, it moves quickly. They're clearly popular -- while I was waiting, I noticed a lot of Greek people coming by, which is always a great sign of authenticity. Definitely worth a stop if you're craving some fresh and tasty Greek street food! Definitely try their gyro!

The women here are so kind and attentive even when in the middle of a lunch rush. We've tried the gyro from here and we personally enjoyed the pork better. Food comes out steaming hot and fresh. We definitely wanna try more dishes from here if we're ever in Astoria!

Really good and affordable food. With the pita, we can choose either pork or chicken for the protein. We go with pork, and the meat is well-seasoned and is not dry. The souvlaki sauce is very tasty. The structure makes it a little hard to eat. Definitely will come back to try other stuff on the menu whenever I'm in the area (probably won't happen any time soon lol).

Delicious! I tried all 3 skewers and definitely my favorite was the pork. Very flavorful and juicy. Will b back for sure!

Delicious and fresh! Simple and well-done. The halloumi is grilled fresh with the perfect char on it. Souvlaki Lady sauce has a wonderful tang to it, slightly sweet. All the vegetables are fresh. Always perfect service.

These had to be the best pork shish kebabs I have ever had hands down. And the price point was great.

I was starving on my way to the hair salon in Astoria. I look around and there are just too many food options. I can't make up my mind and decide to go in my car and go on Yelp. When suddenly in front of my eyes is the Souvlaki Lady (and I'm assuming her husband, buddy, partner) making some delicious chicken on a stick. Checked out the reviews and it was a sign from the universe. When you have so many restaurants around and you just can't make up your mind, just get food from a food stand/truck! No lines, no wait and yummy food. I ordered two hot dogs from here and they were so good and so cheap. My sister got the chicken on a stick with just lemons and salt and the chicken was perfect! It comes with some bread too. So fast, so cheap, so convenient! Will be back to try more things!

They are hard to find on Ditmars Blvd, but are one of the best souvlaki spots in Astoria offering reasonably priced food. I came here last Friday and ordered the Souvlaki lady special with pork. They were out of lamb. Absolutely delicious. I will be back

If we wanted to get a table in the main dining room, the wait was estimated to be over 2 hours (we went around 8pm), so I highly recommend making a reservation if you plan to go. The staff were very quick with service and very friendly. We were offered toasty bread with some lemon and an olive spread while we waited for our food (which also came out super quick!). We ordered the octopus and lamb chops. The octopus was incredibly tender, the meat was very soft - I personally would've preferred a little more bite to it, but it still tasted good. The lamb chops were flavorful. The medium here is on par with medium rare at most other places, and one of our pieces was borderline rare. At the end of the meal we were also offered complementary desert, which was a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed our meal overall, but just know that it's a little on the pricey. The octopus and lamb chops came out to $80~ pre-tax and tip. Would recommend if you're a fan of seafood!

One big difference I noticed on this visit was that there is no longer the kerasma / treat offered at the end of your meal of the portokalopita or gluten free yogurt with orange syrup, so that was a bummer. The change in portions is also noticeable, particularly from the Sofrito having less meat on the plate. But, the food is very tasty and presented well!
