This is one of my favorite restaurants I went while being on the island. This is where I had my favourite kind of mussels besides the traditional ones. Here I had tomato and basil pesto tomatos! They are amazing! Actually all the food and drinks we had here were really good! My Mom got seafood chowder to eat and my Grandma got seafood chowder poutine which was fries with the seafood chowder soup on it. They really like there runs here so the menu is fun to read. Great restaurant! My mom and I came on our first day in Charlottetown during lunch. The restaurant was pretty empty, we came around 2 I think, and we sat outside on the patio. It's very cozy, with live music on Tuesday and lawn games. There were also a few muskoka chairs and we saw a couple sit there with a beer. The food was great, my mom ordered mussels and I had a lobster roll. She and I love seafood and when she ordered (I was in the washroom), the waitress had to check if the mussels were in. She came back and told us that someone had just come back from the market with them! You could really taste the freshness. Our waiter was super attentive and nice, happy to recommend us a local beer, which was tasty! My lobster roll was simply amazing, the bread was not heavy at all, and the lobster to mayo ratio was perfect. I've had lobster rolls in Boston where the bread is too heavy, but this was not at all! It's part of the Delta hotel, which is right next door, and next to the marina. After we ate, we took a stroll along the water and got some Cows ice cream, which was yummy. read more

Eating out in Charlottetown is quite expensive, as the food prices are significantly higher than in other cities like Toronto. Expect to spend at least $55+ for lunch (two people, before tax/tip) and more for dinner. However, the prices here are on par with other seafood restaurants in Charlottetown. Brakish was the very first restaurant that we ate at upon our arrival in the city back in 2016. It's a seafood-centric restaurant located on the historic Charlottetown Harbour. There, we had a very casual lunch before going sight-seeing around the downtown Charlottetown. I opted for the PEI Lobster + Crab Roll ($20) - lobster and crab mixed with lettuce, lemon, parsley, caramelized onion mayo, on top of split bun with fries as my entree. The lobster roll was toasted, and there was a substantial portion of lobster meat. The lobster to mayo ratio was perfect. I enjoyed it very much! Many of the restaurants in Charlottetown that has a large seafood-based menu are often opened seasonally only. So please note that Brakish do temporarily closed for the winter season. read more

Tough restaurant to review as the food was mostly good but so many other issues detract from that. It started off with the entrance. We went to what seemed like the entrance but it was staff only and the only way to get to the correct entrance was halfway around the block. A staff member came out as we were trying to figure this out and ignored us when we asked for help. Finally got seated and ordered drinks and meal. Food arrived and it was good but the table had no condiments available. No salt and pepper for the potatoes. Asked about cocktail sauce for the shrimp in the seafood boil and was told that they didn't have any. Our seafood boil was good but could have had more seasoning with it. The mussels were a bit overdone and the clams were the smallest I've ever seen. The chorizo sausage was too spicy for my wife but didn't provide much flavor to the rest of the items. Another of our diners had the mussels which had a good sauce but she wasn't given any bread to sop it up. The place has potential with a scenic location with a nice garden area. Good food alone doesn't make for a good dining experience. They need to do the work to up the whole experience. read more

I've been dreaming of seeing Prince Edward Island ever since I was a little girl and read the entire series of Anne of Green Gables. My obsession was further instilled that same summer when PBS aired the series during a donation drive. With that said, I was delighted to get a taste of PEI as well and Brakish made it a wonderful experience. Their seating is located next to a charming little marina with lovely boats making for a charming view. The waitress was warm and friendly (she even said "eh" at the end of a few sentences), the manager came over and took time to speak with us and gave us a little PEI trivia book so we could play a little game with each other at the table. He was rather funny when we told him we found the resto using Yelp, he smiled and said that was, "a very American" thing to do, LOL. At the time we were the only tourists as their season had not yet started so we were surrounded with locals. The food was amazing. My husband and I started with the Mussels, some of the best I've had. We went on to have the Lobster Roll, which tasted very fresh and was seasoned just right. My husband had the Fish & Chip, fresh flaky fish with a tasty batter and creamy Cole Slaw. Just wonderful! The beer was also tasty, we both got the Ale from the PEI Brewery. The food, service and atmosphere made this place PEI perfection! read more

Regular visitors to the island, we heard about this place from the staff at our hotel, on its opening night for the season, and we're so glad we tried it out! Definitely the best fish and chips, and the best lobster roll on the island. And the Parmesan fries? These are amazing! To top it off, a layered dessert in a mason jar was perfect. Brakish scores extra points for being everything to everybody. Part pub, part restaurant, part outdoor activity play space. Expect a casual environment and give your server extra time because they may be a little understaffed. We were looking for a quiet dining experience, and even then, Brakish fit the bill nicely. There is a small indoor dining room that keeps you from most of the noise of the patio and the boisterous washer-toss players on the lawn. If you catch a late dinner, you'll be able to enjoy some live music, too. The $12 Clam Chowder was fantastic, the $14 Mussels in a creamy bacon sauce were multitudinous and excellent, the $18 BBQ Salmon Salad was fresh and cheerfully appointed with blueberries, and -- best of all -- their $12 version of poutine (with chowder poured over french fries, then topped with cheddar cheese and green onions) was a fun discovery. read more

I had the Blueberry Beer and Bacon Steamed PEI Mussels which were very tasty. The serving was quite large as well. This place has a great outdoor seating area with benches, live music and games. My only complaint about this restaurant was that the only type of lobster they serve is on a lobster roll. read more

We would have given this restaurant 4 stars but we found the Maitre D Samantha so offensive that we lowered the rating. She almost ruined our evening! Even though we came early ,as instructed on the phone , we were denied a table for 2. Meanwhile there were a number of free tables and the entire bar area was empty . We told her how upset we were because we had come the night before and the restaurant was closed for a private party. It was only after we strongly expressed our upset that she miraculously found us a table in the main dining room. In contrast, our waitress, Natasha, was wonderfully friendly and a sheer delight. We asked her advice on what to order, and she was very helpful in this regard. The food we ordered was delicious: the clam chowder, the blueberry and bacon mussels, e white wine mussels, and the cherry cheese cake. Stellar service, a great patio, refreshing selection of beers, and fish and chips portioned out for a giant make this Charlottetown bay-adjacent grub hub the picture perfect place for a group that wants to soak up a little sun (or shade), enjoy good eats, indulge in an adult beverage (or two)and play some games. We brought our own cards, but their lawn area had some fun games for kids (and adults with the right amount of liquid juvenile-ness). I also noticed they have blankets in the event it gets a little nippy, as well as live music on occasion. Not to mention, their cute little oyster hut (opens in the afternoon). The burger was juicy and the kind you need to hold with two hands, the watermelon feta salad was light and a superb mix of watermelon to feta, and, their fish and chips was impressive...even moreso when they brought out another huge golden piece from the kitchen because apparently the plate was missing one. We all gaw fawed at the extra piece because we couldn't imagine how someone could devour all that food! My boyfriend and I were trying to get crab at as many places as possible while in PEI which was surprisingly difficult, so when saw this place offered a lobster & crab roll we decided we had to check it out. There were lawn games (horseshoes/yard-ze/etc) available to play while waiting for your food or just hanging out. We thought that was really neat, we were a little too cold that evening to play though. We got the lobster & crab roll to split, it came on toast which was unexpected but I loved it because there was more meat than bread and not too much mayo. My boyfriend however would have preferred a larger bun and thought that for $20 it should have been a bigger portion of food. Service was great, attentive and friendly. read more

Really enjoyed the lobster rolls we had. The fries were good too and a very substantial portion size. We visit New England often and this lobster roll was on par with the best we have had in US. Nice selection of local craft beer as well. Service was prompt and pleasant although we ate early so we weren't competing with many other diners. There are plenty of places to get lobster rolls on PEI but I can certainly recommend Brakish. read more

Came here for some dinner/drinks during a work conference. This is my first time to PEI and I'm loving it. If you love seafood, you've essentially just hit the jackpot. Our group's order consisted of lobster, oysters, lobster rolls and crab and everyone loved everything. Location was right around the corner from our hotel, it's close to the waterfront and it's just so incredibly relaxed. The only downside is when that 'lax mentality starts playing a role in how long food and drink arrive. But I've decided that's just the pace of life here (not necessarily a bad thing - just much different than Toronto). But overall, really enjoyed ourselves - ridiculously friendly staff and definitely worth experiencing in Charlottetown. read more

I just had to write this review after visiting this restaurant in the latter part of August, because their chowder is the best we have tasted in the Maritimes, including NL. It was early afternoon and so we didn't want to spoil our dinner by having a big meal. Our only regret was to not have ordered the larger bowl. Very pleasant and accommodating staff. The high chairs are a bit hard to get in and out of, so I suggest choosing the standard ones. read more

This amazing LOCALLY owned & run place on the Delta premise is spot on! Carson takes pride in the oysters and his specially prepared salsas & mignonettes for the oysters. I had his wild blueberry, shallot & raspberry vinegar mignonette that was perfect with the Raspberry Point oysters. Morgan was our server and the Crab & Lobster Roll was better than the one we had at Prim Point! It was fantastic @ The mussels with garlic and butter were also sweet perfection. What a great spot! This place is sort of hit or miss. I had the PEI Mussels in the traditional wine and butter sauce. The sauce was good but the mussels weren't cooked right and were very chewy. My friend had the veggie burger which she said was the best she's ever tasted. The Brakish Lemonade (basically just an Arnold Palmer) was super good. The beer (we had the local Blueberry Ale) was also decent. The live music was a nice touch and the service was excellent. read more

What a great place! Its away from the cute strip of restaurants, about a 5 minute walk down to the water with a great outdoor space, close to confederation park and next to all the little shops on the ocean. They don't take reservations but they will guarantee you a spot inside with the option to move outside once a spot becomes available. Outside they had live music and the guy was very good. There was a fun atmosphere outside, they have a nice table patio area but then they also have a grassy area (less fancy) with picnic tables and games. You can grab a drink and play a game while you wait for your food. The oyster bar is also outside in a cute little hut so you can watch the guys preparing all the oyster dishes. We had a dozen oysters and we split a lobster, crab roll. Both were delicious. The lobster coming out from the kitchen for $25.00 and the fish and chips looked great as well. read more

We visited after seeing the rave reviews on yelp. The Parmesan fries were very good, Parmesan with small rings of scallions and very well seasoned. My husband had the lobster and crab roll, it was creamy with a toasted bun. We agreed that we prefer regular lobster rolls for the future, but it was a nice dish. I had the fish n chips, the batter was crispy and the dish had two large fillets on top of fries. Everything was well prepared and seasoned, the service was quite friendly, and the ambiance was excellent. We experienced both the outdoor and indoor seating(once the mosquitos drove us indoors). Both areas were great! Highly recommend this restaurant. The burgers seemed like they'd be amazing but we went with the seafood option this time. read more

Great food. The patio has a great view of the harbour and is shaded in the afternoon. I had the fish and chips and I have to say it's the best in town!! Stopped in for one drink mid afternoon. Looks like an ok place for a casual dinner. We're staying at the Delta. We overheard a couple asking for a good place for dinner. The hotel must own the Restaurant! They recommended this place. While it looks like an ok place for lunch, it's definitely nothing fancy if that's what you're looking for. This place was so great. We sat on the deck and watched the sail boats . Had fish and chips and a bucket of mussels- both were delicious! My husband hand beet salad and enjoyed that too.
