All and all it's not too bad and the location is good. My room was 51 degrees when I checked in at 4:30pm, no big deal, I travel a lot so I turned on the heat and left to get food. I ordered a salad from a local restaurant and they forgot to include utensils; again, not a big deal, just cruise by the front desk and grab some complimentary utensils right? Wrong. The lady working at the front desk informed me that I'd have to pay $2 for a plastic fork. I paid over $300 for a room for 2 nights and they can't even offer up a free plastic fork? I know it sounds fickle, but plenty of places are willing to give away free forks. I was going to bring my entire crew of 6 here for a build we have for 2 weeks but...simple things like a free fork matter. read more

Don't let the nice exterior fool you - behind the facade is a nightmare. I was in town for a family reunion and stayed here for several days. I woke up at 7:30 am each morning to the sound of saws and hammering by work crews in the room next door. I was refused a room change or a discount. I had my nephews come over to visit me for a couple hours and was charged $5 per person just to have them come by to visit. "If you don't like it, you can leave", I was told by the manager. Seriously. Even though I didn't have a car there the manager, Shelly (a real piece of work), told my nephew to move his car from in front of my room because it wasn't registered...even though there wasn't a single other car in the lot at the time! The continental breakfast is great if you like stale cereal and week old pastries. There are plenty of other places to stay in Grants Pass and I'll stay in any place but this on my future visits. read more

This hotel is right in the heart of downtown, and very convenient to everything. The room we stayed in was very clean, and looked new and updated. We used the jacuzzi a couple times and the pool, both were great. The fitness room also has a ping pong table in the back. Breakfast was decent. In addition to the typical bread/pastry options, there were hard boiled eggs, cheese and yogurt, and I was happy to have some protein options like this. The coffee unfortunately is weak, both in the breakfast room and in the rooms themselves. I also think they need to buy some more salt and pepper shakers and keep a set on each table. Seems odd that an entire room of people had to share one set of salt and pepper shakers! I've never seen that before. I think the grounds of this hotel are very nice, they have waterfalls, and pretty green grass, it really looks like they landscaped it beautifully. read more

Just spent 3 wonderful days at my 55th year class reunion, and then I got home! And much to my surprise we had hitchhikers, sugar ants in every thing we owned. We had told the maid Saturday morning that we had see a few, and she assured us it would be taken care of. Have stayed there many times before, even back in the 50's but won't be staying there again, and by the way the breakfast sucks, lower the room prices and skip the breakfast. read more

Room was an old cigarette smoked in , lipstick on a pig type situation. 5min in and noticed the door wouldn't close all the way and the road noise was a bit unacceptable with the 3/4" crack because of the jam seal being messed up. Tried to call and they refused to help. They actually said go somewhere else if we didn't like it. The front desk lady said they knew about the door issue and that it would be fixed one day.. Fast forward to us Leaving.... We got locked in the room because the stupid door lock mechanism got jammed. My girlfriend had to climb out of the window to help the front desk lady, who just gave me a screwdriver to pry from the inside. All this and still no offer for a different room or any help, desk lady called the manager when we finally got out and back to the front desk to get refunded, and girlfriend overheard the owner/manager on the phone saying "just get them out of there" . What in the hell happened to this place? All this to start my birthday weekend down here in Gp. Crap service, crap manager, crap desk lady, good luck if anything happens on your stay, they won't care... Just push you out. Unbelievable read more

Well, where to begin. We arrived to our king bd room that smelled like yrs of smoking and the door was broken so it would close fully, to keep sound out. There was a draft and excessive nose from the busy street we were next too. We called the frint seat to see if we could switch to another room, when she let us know that there was already a maintenance ticket in for the door issue. She said she would see what she could do and that almost all rooms were booked. She called back 20 min later saying her manager who was not on site and out of town said for us to just go elsewhere (WHAT?) instead of moving us to another room. So, we farhered out things to leav and tried to walk out the door and the dam door wouldn't open, as we tied and tried to open it nothing. we called the front desk again and asked if she would come and let us out. she could nr get the door open and went and called her manger again, she came back with a tiny screw driver and pulled the screen off, a 8in x20in slider window to get it to us. She was finally able to open the door from her end came in and shut the dam door so now all three of us were locked in the room, I tried several times reaching my a out the window to open from outside but could not, THANK GOD I'm a tiny human, cause I had to climb out the window to get to the door and get it open to let my husband and the worker out of the room. EVEN AFTER ALL THAT THEY WOULD NOT UPGRADE OR CHANGE OUR ROOM! when I went to get a refund to leave there were not one but two charges on my account. WHICH SHE then proceeded to tell me we're not there as I showed them to her. She talked to the manager several times in the phone and said she was out of town and that she was gonna get yelled at or even fired if she gave us another room and didn't charge us more....ARE YOU KIDDING ME WHAT A JOKE THIS PLACE IS!! read more

I live in California and was driving my elderly parents from Oregon to California for a move. I will never come back here. Every time I am in Oregon it is a bad experience. I've stayed here twice in 2015. I had a dog at the time and my room was perfect ....no carpets and very clean, there was even a water bowl. There's a nice grassy area for dogs too. Tanya checked me in both times and she's great, professional and accomadating. Shawn Hewitt in the breakfast lounge was friendly and made sure there was plenty of choices to serve her guests. Bring your earplugs!! Some of the rooms are extremely close to the street and have A LOT of street noise. I strongly recommend bringing earplugs if you cannot stay in one of the backrooms which are further away from the street. I gave it two stars because the hotel lobby and breakfast staff were friendly. read more

I really like the room but the breakfast is pretty terrible. They don't even have brown sugar for the oatmeal. Very small choice of things to eat. It has become worse and worse each year. This place is better than most hotels in town that have pet friendly rooms. It has a motel style to it, which I didn't mind. It was clean with the exception of a pillow--it had something on it, could be food or ear wax--I didn't want to know what it was actually. Bathroom was clean, the shower head was nice. The rooms are cozy, the bed is comfortable but they can upgrade their bedding because the sheets were rough. Also, the pool is closed. They said the state of Oregon forbids to open the pool, not sure how much of that is true. I've been staying at hotels all over the state and they all had their pools and spas open. So idk if this property just doesn't want to open it or what. They should have given us a special rate since their facility is limited. But I just needed a place to stay so I didn't complain further about it. So, will I stay here again? Maybe when they reopen the pool and spa. But for now, no I won't be returning. read more

My wife and I stayed here on June 15 th At the last minute we decided to spend the night in Grants Pass The motel seemed to be a very nice place so we checked in. The room was nice I turned on the a/c in the living room after an hour the room was still hot so we called the desk. The young lady came and said the thermostat was broken, but there was an a/c in the bedroom. Then she came back and told us the thermostat was not working and they were waiting for a new one. The bedroom ac could not effectively cool the living room area because there was only one small vent in that room. Additionally the internet was not working but by this time I had given up. I spoke to the front desk the next morning on check out to get a room price adjustment and I was told I had to call the manager on Monday. On Tuesday we stopped back from Portland and Eugene to speak to the manager. I told her the story and she told me that all the employees knew the wall thermostat was not functional she also told me they had no complaints about the internet and the guests who stayed the next day had no trouble with the a/c. She apologized and said there was nothing she could do. I asked why didn't they put a note on the thermostat if it wasn't working . This manager made it sound like everything was my problem that I was too picky. I guess when you pay $240.00 per night you shouldn't expect the a/c or internet to work . I stayed this past weekend (New Years) and had a great experience. I've stayed here before in the last as well. The room was well appointed, and they even left a bottle of sparkling cider for new years. I had an issue with light shining into my room and went to talk to the staff about it. Amber was very friendly and professional and had it covered for me. Bri (Bree?) was also very nice. The staff go out of their way to make you feel awesome, and the grounds are simply amazing. Recently, we made reservations online for one a one night stay in the Coastal Suite. We have stayed in this room twice in the past and we were happy with the quality of the room, cleanliness and our interaction with the staff. The current room rate was $150 prior to my husband's military discount, which we agreed to. I even called for details on the reservation prior to making it online. Approximately 24 hours later, I received an email indicating that IN ADDITION to the cost of the room, they would be authorizing our bankcard in the amount of $500 for incidentals at the time of check-in. I immediately called and cancelled our reservation. I was advised that this is something that they just implemented and would be charging going forward. Let me say, this is an ASTRONOMICAL amount to hold on our card for incidentals and is, frankly, offensive. I understand that as a business, they must account for potential damages to their property, but attempting to charge someone over 3 times the cost of a nightly stay is completely unreasonable. I have been charged a deposit in the past at other hotels, but the absolute most that I have paid for a deposit was $100 at a hotel in the Bay Area for a room that cost twice as much per night as this one. Even privately owned cabins and beach houses do not charge this much. Attempting to authorize this amount for a deposit is excluding a HUGE demographic of people and I will be highly surprised if they do not experience a dramatic loss of reservations associated with this very, very poor business choice. I am completely appalled. At the VERY least, this charge should be CLEARLY outlined at the time of reservation so people do not waste their time, as I wasted mine. Notification of this type of change via email is negligent as it could have easily been missed, especially in the case of a last minute reservation. This hotel has lost our business and that of our family and friends. I suggest they reverse this policy, or at least lower the security deposit dramatically, before they do the same with their other guests. read more

Road Trip Rules #2 Don't stay in a motel right off the highway. They are creepy, noisy and inhabited by characters from a Sam Sheperd play ... you don't think he made that shit up, do you? No - dude went road trippin' then headed to San Francisco to write it all down. Redwood Motel is more like a Beth Henley play; beautifully landscaped pool area, with very sweet, helpful, lonely hearts- type desk clerks. And, of course, lots of redwood trees. Recently remodeled grounds are very pretty. Rooms are clean as a whistle, and include a small fridge, microwave and coffee maker. My room smelled really stale and I couldn't get the smell to go away - smelled sorta like a stale ice tray. Our pet friendly room had tile floors and with the cable TV; we couldn't have been more comfortable for the price. internet access is free - but there is a $25 deposit required for the cable. I don't know if I needed the cable or not - I decided to pass when it turned out the plug was across the room from the table, and behind a heavy piece of furniture. The continental breakfast left much to be desired: old looking fruit, cheap costco type muffins and really rank coffee. I was prepared with my dinner leftovers and a can of starbucks double shot, I know better than to count on a free motel breakfast. And now you do too. read more

Great place to stay in Grants Pass Our room was very clean and roomy, and bed comfortable. Fairly priced. We had our dog that was welcomed with a small fee. The grounds are lovely and maintained. Breakfast room clean as a whistle with a nice basic breakfast fare. We will be back whenever going through Grants Pass. P.S. My time at the Redwood Hyperion Suites has left a lasting impression. I've been twice now, and both times I was greeted by friendly, helpful staff who catered to anything I needed and were glad to give me pointers of what to do around town and surrounding areas(wineries, shopping, nature excursions, the options were endless!). The landscaping and attention to detail with upkeep was also impeccable. The second time I went, I stayed in one of the suites and it felt like home with the large fireplace, comfy couches, spacious rooms and high end finishes. There wasn't a mark missed. Even when the power went out city wide one late night, the staff made sure everybody was safe and comfortable, walking the premises with flashlights for anybody who might need help. I'd recommend this place to anybody looking for a getaway. It's really a home away from home. read more

The worst ! The carpets are filthy - my feet stuck to the carpeting!! Cheap linen. I washed the sheets & towels myself, in a mild soap and told the cleaning people to not change them - they didn't listen to me, and I had to spend a lot of money washing them again. The pool area should be nice but they blast cheezy music thus ruining the only redeeming quality of this dump. Junk food for the "breakfast" And VERY RUDE desk people. read more

I was given the unfortunate opportunity to stay the night before/of my wedding. Our first night was wonderful. My bridesmaids had decorated the room for me to make my entrance for the couple of nights. As the bride i was to not worry about a thing. The cleaning crew was recruited to clean our bed and to make it for us to have photos of us getting ready. We asked them to please return after we were completed with getting ready so it would Be nice for my husband and i to return to. They came and ONLY made the bed, didn't take any trash or leave us extra linens or towels. We were told they would return later after we left for photos. No one came back to the room to clean & when a bridesmaid asked them if they were going to clean, we were told that the cleaning ladies had left and no one was going to clean our room because they don't clean, instead they were handed a few extra towels & a bag for trash. We were disgusted and my bridesmaids did the best to clean up before we left. As you can imagine after a bridal party & not getting a room cleaning this place was a little scattered. There were towels in the rooms and some bags of trash. Due to them not leaving ya extra trash bins . We were charged a $ 100 cleaning fee due to this hotel sending their maids home before the job was done. I will never ever stay at this hotel again. If you like getting ripped off, stay here!!! We stayed at the new, newer, newly remodeled?? "Redwood Hyperion Suites". The room was nice, freshly updated with cable & wi-fi. Although I don't understand why you didn't spend the extra $50.00 in the bathroom to give it the same feel. Poor lighting, drab paint & a shower curtain rod that's falling down. The Exterior & Grounds are very nice and recently been upgraded. The little interaction I had with the staff went ok. The continental breakfast is nothing to write home about (pastries, juice & cereal) but it was served in a beautiful room. For $30.00 a night less (and without the waterfalls in the yard) I could have stayed at the Best Western which has a restaurant on an adjoining property. When I made the reservation I had tried to upgrade to a larger room, thankfully that was unavailable. They have made a huge investment in the property & with a little work on the creature comforts they could give a "wow - experience" instead of a "meh - experience". It's a nice place and 3 stars may be fairer. Which is a shame based on the improvements they could be getting 4 or 5 stars. Instead I left feeling like i'm being charged a higher price point to provide a ROI for your facility upgrade while receiving a "hotel chain" experience. read more

We didn't make a reservation because we didn't know when we would be ready to stop driving for the day but they were able to accommodate us. The front desk clerk provided excellent customer service. We stayed in a room with two queen beds. It was very spacious and I liked the way the rom was set up with the separate refrigerator/microwave/coffee pot area. The bathroom was nice sized, and the shower water pressure was great. I didn't run out of hot water in just a few minutes like other places I've stayed at. The bed was very comfortable, the three pillows were great, there was almost no outside noise to bother us. The room was clean and spacious. There was a dining table, dresser/tv stand, closet and 3 nightstands for lots of storage room for longer stays. There is a pool and hot tub, but we didn't use either. The landscaping is very nicely done, giving it a small park like setting. All in all, it was an excellent experience and I would definitely stay there again. I highly recommend this hotel. read more

Excellent accommodations for the price! Large room with the kitchenette, jacuzzi tub, nice heavy furniture, extra touches in furnishings. Quality soaps lotions and shampoos, his and her bathrobes, toaster oven, microwave, coffee machine, dishes, fridge and dishwashing soap. The grounds are lovely. And this is a regular room. Super nice front desk people free breakfast; you can't beat this anywhere. Extra towels in drawers, extra pillow, blanket, iron/ironing board, ceiling fan. Pillows are a bit flat, but then I'm not paying the Westin hotel prices either. The mattress and quilt were very good for a good night's sleep. Minor mechanical issues like hot water takes a LONG time to get to the kitchen sink, but it may have been our room location. Not a problem in tub or shower. read more

An ok kind of place. At 11 pm and not too many options left on the table we stumbled into this motel. The room was clean and the shower was super good. It didnt take forever to get hot water and it was very clean. At only $70 for a one night stay was worth the price. We didnt stay around for the free continental breakfast, but previous reviewers said it was just junk food! lol. read more

Ok. I am going to start with a negative but will end on a positive note. I made reservations three months ago for two rooms each having two queen beds. I was traveling with my mom who has severe RA, and my 14 year old son and my husband. My sister and her family reside in Grants Pass. We traveled from Tri Cities which was about a 7 1/2 hr drive. Mom and I shared a room. The reason for booking what we thought was one of the nicest hotels in Grants Pass was because we all wanted to spend a little extra to ensure a great nights rest and enjoy the beautiful pool, and the scenery. I myself have had 2 back surgeries so the importance of a nice bed was there for me as well as for the rest of us. We were thrilled as we pulled up to the office to check in. The place is beautiful! We checked in to our rooms mom choose the bed closest to the bathroom. We unpacked and headed to my sisters house for dinner. We came back to our rooms around 9:00. Mom was tired so she decided to go to bed and I went to the hot tub with my husband and son. An hour later I returned to my room to find my poor mother miserable and unable to sleep. She informed me of the mattress so we switched spots. Like I said before my mom has RA so she definitely needed a decent mattress. The other bed was almost as miserable but good enough that she was able to get some sleep. Me on the other hand had a horrible night! The mattress was like a brick! The next morning I nicely complained about the horrible mattress to the nice gal at the front office and she said she would have the manager contact me. She never did. Later on that day I tried to make contact with the manager but she of course was in a meeting. The second day, two nights now with lack of sleep I noticed that the hotel room next to us was being cleaned and the door was wide opened so I decided to check out the two queen beds in this room and they happened to be awesome beds. Mom was satisfied with her bed but mine was almost unbearable. I went to the office and asked the same nice gal if we could move one of the mattresses. I still had two more nights. She got back to me after asking the manager you know the one who was avoiding me. She said that her manager was not going to approve of us or them moving a mattress and that I could check out if I wanted! I was shocked. They rant and rave about this place and it's true that it is lovely but the managers lack of care in our situation left us a little ticked off. Lesson learned. Check the mattresses always. This nice of a place should be ashamed of themselves for having such shitty beds in some rooms and not being willing to do anything about it. To the manager...Shame on you! The rest of the staff was great. read more

A great place, friendly staff and sparkling clean! We called ahead as we were driving from Southern California, the website looked great. Tonya answered the call and was very welcoming, they were nearly full but had one dog friendly room waiting for us! Nice and dog friendly rooms with tile floor for rain-soaked pups so you don't need to worry plus updated suites for travelers without their furry friends. Our Cairn Terrier loved the room and squirrels in the trees! Wine tasting had just ended, darn. Lots of great Oregon wines are also for sale in their lobby so you never really miss out. Great breakfast included, continental-plus, and the staff was refilling everything immediately. Event center, beautiful grounds, close to restaurants and downtown Grants Pass. You could enjoy this as a family reunion location, easily! We will be back and spend more than one night next time. read more

Lets start with the only complaint I had; the internet connection was very slow, but this may be due to the fact that we (me and our 3 sons) stayed in the "L" wing, which is further from the lobby/router. I've always wanted to try this place, and I'm glad we did. The place looked clean and well taken care of and...it was. The complimentary breakfast was also nice and simple. The staff were friendly and the place was really quiet. We'll be coming back but next time, I'll ask for a room in the main building. If I can think of one word to describe this place it would be 'clean.' read more

Booked a room, over the phone, directly with the hotel, using a Trip Advisor promo code. Received a confirmation email at that rate. Arrived and was told we had to have a different room because the room we booked couldn't have the amount of people they booked us in there with, and that the promo code was only good on some weekdays. To stay we needed to pay for a bigger room at a higher cost. Even with the email confirmation right in front of them, from them, they would not honor the rate or make it right. We cancelled our reservation and went somewhere else. Unacceptable. You don't punish customers for your employees mistakes. You make it right. read more

I stayed here often last year (and even before that) as a post-bacc OSU student traveling from Corvallis to GP to see family. Then, after several stays the security they hire out harassed me while walking in the front door. He aggressively pulled up with a bullet proof vest on cutting me off from the front door with his car saying the front desk called security on me. Well, it was the middle of the day, I pulled into a spot near the front door, I was there for maybe 5 minutes sitting in my car finishing up a call, there were no other cars in the parking lot, and I have a nice looking car, so please explain why security would approach me other than being completely unprofessional and a bully. I was extremely upset after the encounter and was crying as I confronted the front desk. She swore she didn't call anyone and that security was lying to me. The front desk lady said she had never even seen that security guard before and he was obviously new. I called the main manager the next day and she 100% sided with security. She didn't seem to care one bit and said they were just doing their job. Several weeks later I stayed there again. I was still upset about what happened but I really liked a few of the employees and my bf liked the pool so I gave it another try. The second day of the stay I went to the front desk and wanted to pay for a second night. The supervisor at the time said there were no rooms available and that many were under construction. I knew she was lying. I was very upset later that day, so my father called that night and found out there were EIGHT rooms available. I went in the next day to talk with management (who wasn't there) and the gentlemen at the front looked up my account and said I was banned. He was really accommodating and let me take a picture of the screen showing I had been banned. He even checked my account for complaints but there was nothing and he hadn't heard anything. He didn't understand why that would even happen. Well, it's obviously because I complained about being harassed and lied to. If you're the owner reading this please reach out to me, I'd love to tell you more about what's going on there and the rest of the horrible experience. And if you're looking for a place to stay, don't stay here, there are many other great places to stay in GP.
