The check-in was easy. The 1-person staff was awesome. His service and the good room are making us reconsider using La Quinta rather than Marriott on our business and personal trips. Road trip hotel. The location was convenient. We happened to show up during a thing called Boatnik, which meant that people ditched town and went out playing with their speedboats. We tried to go to a restaurant we Yelped and they had a sign on the door saying "CLOSED FOR BOATNIK". Okay, this is about the lodging.... Comfortable room, friendly staff, decent hotel breakfast. I've stayed here many times over the years. Either visiting family or on my way through. Never had a bad night sleep there. Traffic can be loud if you're on the freeway side of the building. The hot tub is quite useful and enjoyable. The breakfast buffet tends to be quite good. read more

Spent one night; unimpressed so we checked out a day early. Service was friendly. I enjoyed the strong shower and I slept reasonably well. Everything else was mediocre: a hole in the bath towel, dingy carpet, off-smell in room. There were a lot of smokers, it seemed, because every time I passed someone, I caught a whiff of tobacco. The breakfast was disappointing. The scrambled eggs were cold and chunky, and instead of meat, there was sausage gravy. I love sausage gravy, but it wasn't hot and there wasn't much sausage in it, and it just left me disappointed. They did have fresh waffles, which my son appreciated. We did not have a chance to experience the fresh cookies in the lobby. In hindsight, I would drive the extra 20 minutes to get a better hotel in Medford. read more

Sometimes we book a hotel in Grants Pass when we are visiting family. We've stayed at the Red Lion a few times, but this time we decided to try the La Quinta Inn. The nightly rate is a little higher (even with a AAA discount), but we definitely had a better experience here. The building seems old, but our room was fine. It had a king sized bed and was spacious for two people. There was a large screen TV, free wifi, a small desk, a microwave, and a decent sized refrigerator. However, the walls are thin, so the noise level will depend on how thoughtful your neighbors are. I liked the free continental breakfast, which opens at 6 AM. They have tons of options: eggs, sausage, waffles/pancakes, bagels, muffins, cereal, fruit, etc. They have plenty of free coffee and orange juice as well. They also have free freshly baked cookies (chocolate chip or peanut butter with Reeses Pieces) in the lobby from 7 PM - 9 PM. We are usually gone all day, so it was nice to grab a cookie on the way back to our room at night. The front desk staff was always friendly and helpful and housekeeping did a good job of cleaning our room. Because of a big snowstorm, we actually had to check out a day early, but they were totally cool about it and didn't charge us extra, which we really appreciated. I was really anxious that my husband booked a Wynham. My WORST nightmare stays have been at Wyndhams. From stained floors to the police being called at 3 am. Happy to report that this hotel had none of that. There were covers on the bedspreads and the bathroom was clean. The only downside is that the carpet was sticky and I had to wear shoes inside the room. This is the only Wyndham I would consider staying in again if nothing else within my price range was nearby. read more

I am SO THANKFUL FOR THIS HOTEL. Where to start?! How about no pet fees? All of their rooms are clean, nice, remodeled, up to date and pet friendly. Second incredible thing about this hotel: The best hotel breakfast ever! We are talking waffles, sausage, eggs, they even have jimmy dean breakfast sandwiches. I used to work in a hotel and I'm here to tell you this place does breakfast right! Let's see what else we can find: how about indoor pool and spa? Fitness center? After we checked in the called my room to make sure everything in the room was up to our standards like WHAT IS HAPPENING. My stay here was just okay. If the price had been $50 lower, I might have given it 4 stars. It just isn't worth the price, in my opinion. The good: the staff was super nice and went out of their way to give us a goodie bag after my husband gave up our first-floor room (the last one available that night) to an elderly couple next to us in line. My husband, who is really picky about pillows, *really* loved his pillow. I thought they were just okay. The room was large and I appreciated the desk, as well as all the outlets for our many gadgets all around the room. The A/C was nice and cold on that hot summer day, too! The view of Grants Pass and the mountains in the distance was lovely! Also: we only stay at pet-friendly hotels, so I'm glad they allowed our little dog to stay with us at no extra charge. The not-so-good: There was a thick, long black hair on the bathroom wall by the light switch (see attached photo). I (currently) have blonde hair and my husband's hair is very short, so it wasn't one of ours. Ew. The mattresses were strange... like they were stuffed rather than, well, however regular mattresses are made?! They felt old and definitely not very comfortable. "Lumpy" is how I'd describe them. Plus I scraped my leg on one of the (sharp) metal pieces that hold the box spring in place. Ouch! The black-out curtains only cover about (less than) one-quarter of the window on either side. Our room was right below some lights or a sign below and so the room was light all night long. Curtains that don't close?! WEIRD. There were some stains on the floor and a few spots (especially in the bathroom) that needed some general maintenance. The breakfast selection was okay, but the eggs were ice cold. Oh yeah, and I thought it was odd they gave us soap, but no shampoo, conditioner and/or lotion like I have come to expect in hotels like this. OVERALL: The staff gets 5 stars! The rest gets 3. I'd stay here again if it was my only option, but it definitely wouldn't be my first choice. read more

Everything was great. We stayed one might going north and one night coming back from Washington. Both nights were won derful. Clean, quiet, comfortable, and the staff were super nice. We came back with colds and "Oscar" set us up with hot tea and honey. Hot cookies were made at 7pm. My Granddaughter enjoyed them. We didn't eat breakfast there but it looked like it was the usual breakfast you get at the LA Quinta's. I would definitely stay here again. read more

What a dump!! I think they gave us the worst room in the whole place. The furniture looks like they found it off the side of the road. Looks nothing like the photos on the website. We didn't like that neighboring rooms were a little loud, no freezer in the mini fridge, no wash cloths, stained carpet and bathroom door and room door swings conflict. I love this hotel. I arrived at 9pm one night, and they knew who I was (I've never been there before, but my reservation said me plus a dog, I was carrying the dog) I was the last to check in, and exhausted from driving but they were so welcoming and had fresh baked cookies on the counter which I thought was so nice. They had free breakfast, and the place felt very safe. I was there less than 12 hours so I could go on with my road trip, but I'll definitely be back again when traveling. I seldom find myself so satisfied by hotel service, hospitality, and/or service. This one tops all of my experience. One thing, it is not a 5-* hotel for sure, but I felt all the sincerity of service is more than a 5-*. 1) We arrived late, the front desk lady Sara was very nice to a tired brain. She made sure we got a room we desired. (we have sensitivity over smell/odor/tobacco). We had a good night of sleep. We loved our beds. The beds actually had no odor at all. The 3rd floor we stayed had no trace of odor either. This was a total blessing to us! 2) In the morning, the breakfast was descent. Nice and clean!! 3) When we are busy checking out, my sis lost her cell phone on the computer desk without knowing it. Guess what? We were contacted by S when we just about leaving town. When I returned to retrieve her cell phone, I lost mine as well. That morning, we were taking turns leaving our phones. :( They had us covered! 4) Due to schedule change, we couldn't take the route back to say hello to them, but I want to share my experience with ya all. I stayed again at this La Quinta on my return trip because the stay last month was so great. Alyssa and another female front desk person (name also started with A I believe, but it escapes me now a week later) were so helpful, above and beyond what you would expect at any hotel chain. Alyssa especially helped me regarding places to walk my dog and extra info on the great breakfast. I didn't get the same room as last time, but this time was also clean and comfortable. My stay in March. Sandy, Adam, and all staff were so helpful, polite, friendly and kind. It was difficult for me to find this hotel, road signs misdirected me, but at the depth of exhaustion after a very long drive- I connected with Sandy and she was so kind, finding me a short cut and walking me through the steps. My room was top notch, nice linens, and plentiful pillows. Very clean, roomy and quiet. Breakfast was early, hot, fresh and plentiful. The staff person at the desk helped when i needed a tray so I could take it to my room, very friendly. Pet friendly hotel with no pet fee. I will stay here again and very highly recommend it to others. read more

Same as others, moving from Seattle to the Bay Area and this is a great place to stop. 5 star hotel for cute little Grant's Pass but it's the service that stands out. We rolled in after midnight and the host was quite accommodating to our needs. I don't remember her name but I'd assume she's the same person lots of other reviews are raving about. Got a call waking me up in the middle of the night by the front desk telling my sleeping husband and I to be quiet.... you need to train your staff to go investigate noise complaints instead of just calling random rooms. I let the front desk know, and the lady that made that call was still there, and yes, she apologized, but she definitely didn't make it right with anything else. I told her next time to go check it out. Don't just make random calls. That's lazy and unprofessional. The alarm clock also went off at 6 am. when I didn't even set it. Maybe make sure your housekeeping checks the alarms. Then, a humming noise that wouldn't stop kept going after the alarm went off. The point of my trip was not for fun. My family is going through a lot, and I just needed one night of good rest before heading to deal with family issues, and I didn't get it. The man who checked us in, however, at about 8pm was pleasant and very accommodating to us so much that I was enjoying my stay at first. I tipped him as a thank you, and I did leave a tip for housekeeping. I really am not hard to please, but this was just ridiculous!!!! read more

We usually stay here between 1-3 times per year when in Grants Pass visiting friends. It is hard to beat the access to the freeway. We have always had really kind and responsive staff when staying here. Breakfast (due to COVID) is box cereal, but in the past and hopefully in the future there will be more options. The rooms have been clean on every trip. This is why we stay here year after year. read more

My husband and I were moving from So Cal to Northern Oregon and booked a suite as we were in 2 separate cars, had our 40 lb dog, 2 cats in a large crate and 2 mountain bikes. After a very long drive we arrived at the hotel exhausted. The staff was exceptional. Check in was quick, the staff offered help with loading the cat crate with the cats freaked inside onto the dolly and up to the room. No charge for pets is awesome to boot! The room was huge. Large living/work room with desk, sofa and TV. Also a refrigerator, microwave and sink. Plenty of room for the bikes and bags. The bedroom had a very comfortable king bed with side chair, TV, huge separate bathroom with double vanity and separate room for bath tub and toilet. Lots of towels. My husband walked a 1/2 block to In & Out for burgers, fries and shakes! The indoor pool is a great addition to help relax. Every time we encountered the staff the were polite, friendly and professional asking if we needed anything. We were getting up early the next morning and a hot breakfast buffet was available as well as cold cereal, cold egg/sausage sandwich to heat up quick for the road, fruit, juices and hot coffee. Of course my husband hit the hot buffet breakfast and also grabbed a egg/sausage muffin sandwich for the road. How could he resist! Hot coffee was awesome! Highly recommend this hotel. Friendly and clean. The front desk clerk was genuinely friendly. Our room was freshly cleaned - really super clean. Parking was good and seemed safe, visible from our room. Really close to I-5 entrances but not noisy. Close to fuel and restaurants (In-N-Out Burger a block away, Mexican next door, and Dutch Bros. Coffee - the original one that started the chain - down the street). Above average, I'd say. Also, breakfast was good with eggs, etc. And free warm cookies at night. Both included. I've only stayed in 2 La Quintas in my life (including this one), but this one was definitely far better than the other. Not sure if this is how all La Quintas are supposed to be, and the other one was crappy, or if the other one is a normal one, and this one is just super good. I really had nothing to complain about at all. Everything was clean, the lobby was clean, and the checkin person was very nice and allowed me to check in an hour early. The room itself was also clean, and you would think with the window being maybe a couple hundred feet from the freeway that there would be a lot of noise, but there wasn't any at all. It was very quiet and relaxing. The a/c worked great, the water pressure in the shower was strong, and the wifi was surprisingly fast. I'm used to barely being able to watch youtube videos on most hotel wifi, but this place was very fast. Maybe there was low occupancy due to covid-19 or something and there weren't many people using the internet, but whatever it was, I enjoyed it. Plus the location is great. It's literally one block away from the exit to the 5 South, and there are also plenty of eating/shopping options down the street. The bad thing when we went was that it was 105 degrees that day, so we weren't about to walk anywhere. If I had to complain about anything, it was that there was no ice machine on our floor - I believe there is only 1, and it's on the 2nd floor (of 3 total floors). But that's pretty minor. IMPRESSED! 5 Star service, Great check in, Great location, Amazing front desk associates, Room is super clean, Bomb ass comfy king bed, Large TV, Swimming pool, , Mini fridge, Microwave, Did I mention how bomb ass comfortable the bed is AC. I checked in at 10am . The associates had a packed breakfast ready for me with juice, energy bar, fruit and bagels with cream cheese and a tasty muffin. Stayed with my family, (wife and 2 kids). Check in was easy and the front desk attendant was very hospitable and even offered a room with 2 beds for the same price as a room with 1. The room was pretty basic, 2 beds, tv , fridge and microwave, nothing to blow you away. Room looked and smelled clean. After we checked out the city we came back and noticed the room next to us had a crying baby (uh oh) but having two kids of my own we were not worried. The issue I had, had to do with the noise from what seemed like every door in the hotel closing. It went on for about 2 hours, door after door opening and slamming closed. After a 6 hour drive and another 6 hours of exploring, we just wanted to fall asleep without interruption. Also there was a dog barking from one of the rooms, not all night but along with the door noise it just added to the problem. Gave it 3 stars because it was what it was supposed to be, a decent room with 2 beds for one night. read more

I've always liked La Quinta, but 3 out my last 4 times, I find I've booked into a La Quinta being remodeled and my room has not been upgraded - need ground floor for dog. Bed overly soft, as were all the pillows, which is not normal for this brand. Appreciate La Quinta's being dog friendly Staff was exceptionally nice. Breakfast was standard, hot tub very clean, gym could have used a stationary bike. My best advise is to ask if they are still being remodeled before finalizing. read more

If I can give a negative review I would. I have stayed at a lot longer f different hotels, motels room in my lifetime. This will take the worse room that I have stayed at in my lifetime. For $160 per night you expect way better. Let's start with th floor I thin they have not done maintenance in this room for over a year floor are super super dirty. There sheets had hairs in them. Did they get change probably not. Ok and the showers take a look at the picture lots of mold yes MOLD I would highly recommend you don't stay here. Seriously. read more

Place wasn't bad at all. Had a great first impression walking in. Lobby was clean and smelled like fresh baked cookies (only because the front desk las was baking some). Next to the check in desk was a bar of assorted drinks from ice cold water, cold unsweetened tea, coffee, and tea. The front desk staff was friendly and very helpful. Check in was fast and easy. It is conveniently located right off the 5 freeway and in a place surrounded by a variety of restaurants (and In & Out!) that are within walking distance. Parking is also free. Now the room: this is where I took off 2 stars. The room itself is pretty nice/decent. My only problem is that the bathroom walls surrounding the bathtub needed a major cleaning/upgrade. The tub itself was clean, but the tile was moldy. That just turned me off badly. If the bathroom issue was fixed, this would absolutely be a great hotel to stay at, especially for the price. We even got a discount as my husband is in the military. Overall, nice hotel, but hoping they fix the bathroom issue because that can easily cause someone to either change rooms or change hotels! read more

A big surprise in the redoing of this older facility. And it was a pleasant surprise too. We originally picked this motel because it had a pet friendly reputation and was ranked pretty well for a Grants Pass motel. We knew it was an old motel, but the refurbishing gave us a hope for a pleasant one night stay with the two fur kids. Being located next to the I-5 freeway, we knew it could be a Jake Break kind of night. But surprise No. 1, it was pretty quite all night, either good sound proofing in original construction or trucks didn't need to hammer it. Second nice surprise, the new doors have retarding devices so no slam and wake when someone leaves their room in the early AM. The place was darn near full up and we never heard people leaving or walking on our heads. We had a first floor room fo ease of dog walking. Third surprise, tons of electric and USB outlets on the desk and next to each side of the bed. The rooms are still a bit smallish, but for the price,OK by me. The rugs are new, new paint, new furniture/drapes and new CAT 6 wires were being installed while we were there. A few things we feel could be improved: The property has little grass to let the doggies do there chores. If they could change the bark chips to grass where they have the poop bag dispenser, it would be nicer. And secondly, think about doing away with tubs in some rooms and replace with straight showers. read more
