This is a great place to stay! The staff are really nice and very helpful ( they even made home made cookies for the guests ) , the breakfast was surprisingly good, the hotel is clean, and most importantly I had a great night rest..

Free freshly baked cookies (chocolate chip or peanut butter with Reeses Pieces) from 7 PM - 9 PM.

Sometimes we book a hotel in Grants Pass when we are visiting family. We've stayed at the Red Lion a few times, but this time we decided to try the La Quinta Inn. The nightly rate is a little higher (even with a AAA discount), but we definitely had a better experience here. The building seems old, but our room was fine. It had a king sized bed and was spacious for two people. There was a large screen TV, free wifi, a small desk, a microwave, and a decent sized refrigerator. However, the walls are thin, so the noise level will depend on how thoughtful your neighbors are. I liked the free continental breakfast, which opens at 6 AM. They have tons of options: eggs, sausage, waffles/pancakes, bagels, muffins, cereal, fruit, etc. They have plenty of free coffee and orange juice as well. They also have free freshly baked cookies (chocolate chip or peanut butter with Reeses Pieces) in the lobby from 7 PM - 9 PM. We are usually gone all day, so it was nice to grab a cookie on the way back to our room at night. The front desk staff was always friendly and helpful and housekeeping did a good job of cleaning our room. Because of a big snowstorm, we actually had to check out a day early, but they were totally cool about it and didn't charge us extra, which we really appreciated. We would definitely stay here again!

Great room, super friendly staff, right off the freeway way but still in a quiet location. I'll definitely stay here again.

    Amazing breakfast!

I am SO THANKFUL FOR THIS HOTEL. Where to start?! How about no pet fees? All of their rooms are clean, nice, remodeled, up to date and pet friendly. Second incredible thing about this hotel: The best hotel breakfast ever! We are talking waffles, sausage, eggs, they even have jimmy dean breakfast sandwiches. I used to work in a hotel and I'm here to tell you this place does breakfast right! Let's see what else we can find: how about indoor pool and spa? Fitness center? After we checked in the called my room to make sure everything in the room was up to our standards like WHAT IS HAPPENING. We have tried staying at 3 other hotels in grants pass when visiting family and they were awful. This hotel might be the best thing that's happened to this city. Thank you soooooo much!

At least the view was lovely!

My stay here was just okay. If the price had been $50 lower, I might have given it 4 stars. It just isn't worth the price, in my opinion. The good: the staff was super nice and went out of their way to give us a goodie bag after my husband gave up our first-floor room (the last one available that night) to an elderly couple next to us in line. My husband, who is really picky about pillows, *really* loved his pillow. I thought they were just okay. The room was large and I appreciated the desk, as well as all the outlets for our many gadgets all around the room. The A/C was nice and cold on that hot summer day, too! The view of Grants Pass and the mountains in the distance was lovely! Also: we only stay at pet-friendly hotels, so I'm glad they allowed our little dog to stay with us at no extra charge. The not-so-good: There was a thick, long black hair on the bathroom wall by the light switch (see attached photo). I (currently) have blonde hair and my husband's hair is very short, so it wasn't one of ours. Ew. The mattresses were strange... like they were stuffed rather than, well, however regular mattresses are made?! They felt old and definitely not very comfortable. "Lumpy" is how I'd describe them. Plus I scraped my leg on one of the (sharp) metal pieces that hold the box spring in place. Ouch! The black-out curtains only cover about (less than) one-quarter of the window on either side. Our room was right below some lights or a sign below and so the room was light all night long. Curtains that don't close?! WEIRD. There were some stains on the floor and a few spots (especially in the bathroom) that needed some general maintenance. The breakfast selection was okay, but the eggs were ice cold. Oh yeah, and I thought it was odd they gave us soap, but no shampoo, conditioner and/or lotion like I have come to expect in hotels like this. OVERALL: The staff gets 5 stars! The rest gets 3. I'd stay here again if it was my only option, but it definitely wouldn't be my first choice.

What a dump!! I think they gave us the worst room in the whole place. The furniture looks like they found it off the side of the road. Looks nothing like the photos on the website. People be very wary of this place. The only other place I stayed at that was worse was a super 8 in Wyoming that was so bad that my son was afraid to get in the shower.

Not really an obnoxious traffic noise. The rest of the stay .....meh. Check in was fine, efficient and courteous. The desk clerk didn't go out of his way to make us feel welcome or anything, but that's ok given the age we live in. Noone goes oit of their way to be friendly anymore. One of the room keys didnt work when we got to the room, but that wasn't an issue really, since the second key worked fine. Upon entering the room, we were immediately met with a strong "mopped floor with dirty wet mop" smell. You know the smell i mean. The pillows (or maybe the sheets?) also smelled ....uncleaned. Not fresh at all. On our return home from a long day in the sun, neither of the room keys worked. We were also locked out of using the door to the elevator so we had to schlep our weary bodies around the length of the hotel parking lot to the front desk where we were greeted with a " I'll be right back sign" at the front desk. Yup. We had to wait in the non air conditioned lobby for the front desk person to get back. It was the icing on the cake of a bad experience. When we returned to our room, my husband racked his elbow on an obtrusively placed cabinet causing a bloody bruise to swell up. The cabinet placed, mind you, not at the center of the wall between two beds to allow safe passage into the room, but on the foot of one bed, in the entranceway. Picture below. This property has been our favorite for years. They recently changed ownership. The staff walks around like zombies and never crack a smile. If they dont want to be there, then why should we come back? Especially now that the property has had a blood sacrifice. Such a shame. Because I'd do almost anything just for the view.

Unlike some of the other reviews, and the pictures that show it, they have upgraded the rooms with flat screen TV and remodeled bathroom (even though there's no countertop, there is a set of shelves that work just as good). My room and bathroom were spotless from what I could see. A very nice place to stay for a few days, if necessary. The Wi-Fi, is free and works well. And, if I remember correctly, it is secured (sorry, but I went about 32 hours without sleep. So, I don't recall exactly, as I didn't use it long). The only problem that I was able to find, is that they don't start serving breakfast until 0800. So early eaters will probably have to go out for breakfast (see my review for the Powderhorn Cafe). And, with the wine classes at they have available, it might make a nice anniversary getaway, too. I'll post pictures later, as I have to transfer them from my laptop to this phone first.

It's a very quaint old school motel oozing character. Margaret, the current owner, told me that the motel was built in the 30s and then the other half was added in the 50s to create the motel's current horseshoe shape. The motel has been updated many times over the years and mixes vintage with modern very easily. There are only 15 rooms, but each one is unique, with some having full kitchens and bedrooms. There are painted murals of vines and such on the walls, and the rooms come with bathroom, shower, kitchen (with eating utensils and plates) fridge, microwave and even a dining table. The bed was comfortable if not a bit too squishy. It's all done in the style of the old motels where you parked in front of your room. Jackie, the check in lady, was helpful and kind and made checking in a breeze. It's located on one of the main streets in Grants Pass and is within walking distance of a bunch of helpful stores and restaurants. With all this charm and very affordable pricing, this is my new go-to motel in the Grants Pass area.

I'm going to be as objective…read moreas possible while setting the record straight- the staff were all good, and offering breakfast, appetizers and cookies/fire/s'mores in the evening was a really nice touch. As others have mentioned, the breakfast wasn't great, but we were travelling with little kids so having something to get the day started is really important (A for effort, C- for execution). They had a decent selection of beer and wine to order in the evenings (at reasonable prices for a hotel). The grounds were pretty nice. Things fall short of expectations when you get to the accommodations and location. Our cabin felt old and dilapidated, not "historic" in the sense of the Ahwahnee Lodge (Yosemite) or Lake MacDonald Lodge (Glacier). You walk in to a slightly damp environment that smells a bit like septic mixed with old camp fire. The couch, and carpet were pretty gross. Beds were mediocre, and although the sheets looked clean, the setup wasn't exactly confidence inspiring. Rooms are not cleaned daily, and since we have little people in diapers, we opted to just put the trash can outside. Perhaps the worst part was that we were put into the AFrame cabin with no possibility to change rooms (that's not what I booked). There's a steep ladder that leads to the second bed upstairs. This arrangement is not realistic or safe with toddlers. Overall, everything was just, kinda... shabby. "Historic" in the context of the Weasku is a euphemism for "run-down". As for location, if you think you're going to be right on the Rogue, you'd be mistaken. There's an irrigation ditch that runs directly behind the cabins, fed by a pump house about 100 yards away. If you do walk down to the river, be careful because this section is very dangerous/inhospitable. The river is really swift there, so it's not good for fishing (yes, no fishing spots there!), not good for kids, no beach stuff... but plenty of spiked berry brambles and poison oak if that's your thing. Road noise is constant and detracts from the vibe of peaceful seclusion. Interstate 5 is hidden by trees just on the other side of the river, so you'll hear that all night long. As for Grants Pass, unless you've got a reason to be there, you'd be better off somewhere like Ashland. The Weasku served our needs, and we all escaped without bedbugs or scabies. Would I stay again? Not if you paid me. Rating reflects great staff and nice grounds, with negative stars for accommodations.

The cabin featured a lovely mountain-style, working rock fireplace with a comfy couch facing the fireplace, looking out onto the trees with the river beyond. The cabin had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The Weasku offers "appetizers" in the evening--which really is more like a meal. If you are still hungry after the appetizer hours, which we were not, restaurants for dinner are just a quick 5 minute drive away. There is a bar available to purchase wines, beer and ciders, if you wish, available all day long with complementary coffees and teas, as well.
