I stayed here at the end of July to attend the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. I was seeing four shows over the course of 3 days/2 nights, so my priority was getting a basic, clean, affordable motel because I wouldn't be in it much other than to sleep. The Timbers was perfect! It's an older motor court that has been nicely maintained on the exterior, with very clean rooms. They had just finished refurbishing the entire pool area and, although I didn't use it, looked like a nice place for kids to play. Rooms are sparsely furnished, but well appointed with basics like a TV, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, and bedside charging points. The sheets, towels, and bathroom were spotless and fresh. Shower pressure was nothing special, but fine. Air conditioner worked fine. A couple large photos of Lithia Park adorned the room. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Check in was straightforward and expedient. Upon inspecting my room after checking in, I did find that the toilet paper was low with no spare roll in the room, and the woman at the desk happily got me another roll right away upon notifying her. There's a Market of Choice grocery store right behind the motel, which was convenient for grabbing some beverages or snacks. There's also a number of good eateries nearby, and some coffee places for the morning. Parking can be a little tight. Thankfully they have extra parking on the other side of the pool, and to the side of the motel next to the street. I arrived back after 11pm each night from performances, and I was at least able to get a spot in those spots. Although it's a little ways out from downtown, it's a very quick trip with a vehicle. It's worth the extra driving for me considering the value. I look forward to coming back here at least once a year as a home base for theater going. Never change, Timbers. The manager is amazing and as a business owner I recognize people with real work ethic who care. When she is not at the desk you can bet she is on property making sure rooms are ready for the next guest. If not that she is insuring paths are free of ice and snow so the guests are safe from falls. read more

Such sweet people work here. I had a late check in. They were very accommodating over the phone with how to do it, and patient with my questions. I really felt their hospitality. The next morning, I checked out. Midway through my drive back down to California, I realized I left my phone charger still plugged in the room. They made the initiation of mailing it back to me by calling me, saying they'd drop it off to the carrier. This place really helped me when I was in a time of need. read more

After a seedy night in a Santa Cruz hotel, this motel was a pleasant surprise. The rooms were clean and comfortable and overall the place has a good vibe. I'm glad we chose this spot. The bathroom was clean and well-kept. Timber Motel is a strong value and it would have been an even better value if I hadn't foolishly used HotelTonight to book it, which is a huge ripoff. read more

We stay here overnight and went to check out the next morning got charge for a small towel that was use for eating an orange, Because the hand towel had orange stains, I had to pay for the towel or I wouldn't receive my deposit. read more

Timbers Motel is a reasonable affordable motel with a handful of easy to correct issues. The shower was hot, there were no bed bugs, and the room was in good enough repair. The location is right across from the university and not too far from downtown. However, their fee policies appear to be intentionally deceptive. Following booking with the on screen invoice stating "grand total", they send an email saying pet fees will be assessed when checking in. This is despite having selected a drop down during the check-out where one selects how many pets they will be bringing where they could easily add in the fee to the "grand total." There is no disclosure of this ahead of time. There is nothing wrong with an additional fee for a pet, but there is something wrong with hidden fees, and when the online interface is programmed to account for it. The follow-up email does not state the pet fee. It shows up on the credit card as a separate fee. Seems that they do this to trick the customers or to avoid taxes. I deduct one star for this. I raised the issue of the "Grand Total" not being the "Grand Total" to the pleasant and professional front desk worker during check-in. When I asked about their approach of hiding fees when booking, her response was "we sent an email after booking" and no acknowledgement that the issue was the total was not the total when the decision is made to pay it. She seemed indifferent that this approach is quickly becoming outdated due to the movement towards truth in advertising and eliminating hidden fees across the hospitality industry. The fine print of the email stated pet fees would be assessed at the time of check-in. I was hoping for an apology and a statement saying they were intending to change that or at least an explanation of why. Half star deducted. Loud hammering and power saws started around 9am on Sunday within a few feet of my door. There was no warning and no heads-up and associated apology about the scheduled disruption when I checked-in. I had ear plugs, but those only helped so much. This work was previously scheduled and would disturb everyone in the motel, even if you weren't the unlucky ones with them by your door. Another half star deducted. The wi-fi was mostly okay, but choppy and stalled for 5 minutes on several occasions. It would not be dependable for a video conference for a business meeting and as a budget motel, there is not a business office area with reliable hook-ups. There is no late check-out option. If you are late, you cannot pay a fee for an extra hour, you must pay for a whole extra day. Many motels have a complimentary late check-out with a phone call, or an extra hour or two for a reasonable fee. This is a solid budget motel that with some additional attention to the policies and customer experience it could easily earn a much better rating for the motel category it is in. read more

Very good and conveniently located option for those looking for a budget stay. We stayed here for the first time for one night on our way up to Portland and on our way back down to the SF Bay Area. Both rooms had a clean toilet/shower/sink area and the sheets looked and smelled clean. I've been in the incentive and group travel/destination management industry for 30 years and know the hotel business well. I commend new owners/management of smaller hotels and motels because the industry can be challenging. One often hits the ground running by operating immediately after purchase and also must focus on setting a plan and a schedule for updates of infrastructure and many aspects of the rooms. It is obvious that the new management (of a mere few months from what I understand) cares about its guests by their attention to detail and their response to their clients' concerns. We booked this site unseen because we are from Reno, NV. We got in later than we expected but was taken care of quickly. Our room was clean and the perfect temperature. There was a microwave, mini fridge and a coffee pot. We traveled with snacks and cold items so this was helpful. Three of us had to shower in the morning before we hit the road and there were enough towels and hot water. Check out was easy. This is a little Inn but we felt 100% secure in both our room and parking. Completely served its purpose. read more

We were at the Timbers Lodging on 450 Ashland St. the week of 22-April-2024 for 4 nights in a room with a kitchenette. It was a wonderful experience. This is a vintage motel which has been kept up, immaculately cleaned, and fluffy pillows. The two staff members were outstandingly accommodating for two older couples. They prepared a table at the pool so we could enjoy meals together even though the pool wasn't open. The table inside the room could seat three easily, not four. It was within easy (less than 3 minutes) to a full grocery store with deli, to Mediterranean, Chinese, pizza, and pho cafes. We made good use of the kitchenette and local dining. The beds were comfortable with four pillows each. Normally within 2 days of a hotel/motel, we have aches and pains from the type of bed; here we had no problems nor regrets. It was a little hard to find the entrance, but it's on a triangle, so we found the entrance the second time around. It was an easy drive to the three Oregon Shakespeare Festival theatres where we found public parking within a block. We would make a return visit without hesitation. read more

Drove for 5 hours and this was my 1/2 point. I stopped when I got into town and looked up motels on Yelp that were affordable and dog friendly. I called, and didn't get an answer, but then saw that it was just acouple miles away so drove over and went inside. The room all inclusive with the dog fee was $111. Not bad at all. Manager was nice, quick and check-in was painless :) There is a pizza place that shares the parking lot, and a market just behind the building. I stopped in the market for wine, and then ordered a pizza to go. I brought my dog over to the patio and one of the girls came out and asked to pet her, and brought her a bowl of water. You dog mom's know how sweet this is and how much it's appreciated. The room was quiet enough, and clean. It had a microwave, coffee maker, and frig. All the comforts of home :) My car was safe and sound in the parking lot and in the morning we were on our way again. Recommend - especially for the solo female traveler (I felt safe). read more

Parking horrible and not enough to accommodate all the guest when the motel is full. Toilets sit veery low which is ok if your 2 yrs old. But for a 65 yr old who has had hip and knee replacement it is not ok. Had to go buy me a raised toilet seat so I could go to bathroom. Room very clean and quiet. Took a gamble on this vintage motel and was very pleasantly surprised. The rooms (we stayed twice!) were very clean, the beds were super comfortable, the linens were nicer than most chain hotels. Check-in was easy and friendly. We brought the grandkids over to swim in the pool both stays with no problems whatsoever. They had a blast! No elevator, but the more steps I take, the better. Lovely little place to stay on a budget, rates were under $100 for a family of 4 with 2 beds and a kitchenette. Rooms were clean (excellent detail to cleaning like a SPARKLING clean tub (even in the grout areas) and inviting. Extra attention seemed to be paid to cleaning in this COVID time--we felt very safe with the level of cleanliness. Room was bright and had clearly been renovated recently. The place was built in the 1940's (ish) and they now have double-paned windows, air conditioning and heating, updated kitchen appliances (in the rooms with kitchenettes). We booked a kitchenette room and were surprised to have everything available to us we could possibly need: silverware, plates, mugs, cups, drain sink, dish soap, sponge, coffee maker, large fridge with freezer, stove, microwave, toaster, you name it, it was there, supplied. Room rate was affordable for a family of 4, ownership changed about 6 months ago (Feb 2020?) and the owner was at the lobby desk every time we went in. He was kind, helpful and accommodating. There is a small pool which is 4 ft, 5 ft and up to 8 ft deep, perfect for young kids. During this COVID time, we were able to be in the pool only one family at a time, monitored by the owner. Just next store is a shopping center with a grocery store, a wonderful Mediterranean place (Falafal Republic), and a Chinese place (Golden Dynasty) literally right outside of the hotel. Close by is the best brunch you could ever hope for: Morning Glory Cafe. So glad we chose this little hidden gem of a motel for our 1 night in town. read more

It looks like the place was remodeled in the last few years, and our room had all the things we needed. No extra charge for dogs, and there was a food/water dish in the room. A big Southern Oregon Univ. lawn is right across the street. It also helps that there's a pizza restaurant on one side and a strip mall with a supermarket on the other. read more

Timbers is by far the smallest motel I have ever seen, let alone stay in. If you drive by too quick you're likely to miss it. Because of its size, the parking lot is also very small, which makes pulling into and backing out of the lot somewhat difficult. They also have a swimming pool located in the parking lot, that is extremely small as well, holding maybe ten people. Checking in was rather painless, considering we booked the room ten minutes prior to showing up at the motel. The man who checked us in was friendly in a skittish 'I really don't want to be friendly' kind of way. He handed us two key rings, but only one of them had an actual key on it. The man apologized when I mentioned it, and informed me that they didn't have any spare keys. It was no problem. One key is perfectly fine. The room we stayed in was small, made smaller by the massive television cabinet at the end of the bed. The bed was very comfortable, and clean. The shower was spectacular. We didn't need to spend ten minutes fidgeting with the knob to get it the right temperature. Within seconds of turning the shower on, it was at the perfect cool/warm temperature. Checking out was a little bit more of a challenge than checking in was. There was nobody at the desk, and after waiting for ten minutes, and ringing the 'ring for service' bell multiple times, I went in search of someone who could help. I was finally able to catch up with someone, who asked me if we paid with cash or card. When I told her card, she informed me that we can just leave our keys on the counter. Even though this didn't sound like the ideal plan, we wanted to get on with our day. Literally feet away stands GAPCO, an amazing pizza restaurant and a local favorite. About a block away in the other direction is Breeze Botanicals, an amazing dispensary. Downtown Ashalnd is only a short drive or walk away. Timbers wasn't exactly the best place I've ever stayed at, but location and price wise, it's pretty decent. read more

Timbers Motel of Ashland, OR rates a solid 3 out of 5 stars. This motel does has it charms, from its throwback keys from the 1950's, to its triangle shaped swimming pool that allows for the squeezing in of just one more car, to it's very limited continental breakfast I lovingly referred to as - a Valley Forge breakfast (history nerds will know what I mean). But hey, why complain, it's a motel and what did you expect - the Omni?! What can you be assured of when you stay here you ask? Well, besides the occasional creeping floorboards from the room above, you can expect no bed bugs, clean sheets and pillow cases and a decently and thoroughly cleaned room. One can tell that the cleaning crew here does the best job it can do with what it has to work with. The Timbers Motel is definitely in need of a renovation but it is an affordable and clean place to stay when your traveling through southern Oregon and are looking for a decent night's sleep - lumpy mattress notwithstanding. And you will fall asleep quickly without distraction as the non-working TV in our room assisted with our ease into a deep and dreamless slumber. ; ) read more

Manager charged me 20$ for a dirty towel and gave me a very aggressive, insulting call when I left. Would not recommend. Be sure to use your credit card or bank card so you can reverse fraudulent charges from this disgusting motel. To be clear and specific about the manager, he's old, grey hair, and looks like a piece of beef jerky. read more

We've stayed every year, but each trip gets progressively worse. We won't be staying again. The guy at the desk was extremely rude at every interaction. Example: When I called to see if a late checkout was available, he asked Why. I told him we were hoping to get brunch with a friend and I was worried the wait for a table MIGHT make us late for 11am checkout. Given its location, it is easy to miss, but it's convenient, clean, quiet. It is well-priced, honors AAA membership (but AAA won't tell you that), and is in very short walking distance to a Chinese and pizza place as well as a Whole Foods -level market. Generally, it is very friendly and offers a complimentary breakfast. Curiously, a few of their bathrooms offer a worms-eye view of the market parking lot. I found the rooms to be spacious and comfortable, in a pinch. Prior booking is not required. read more

Staying here 2 nights. Very quick and easy check in, Very clean rooms and smells clean as soon as you walk in. We got the pet room and you can not tell it's a pet room, no odors. Only draw back is the very cold tile floor in the bathroom during the winter. Will definitely stay here again. read more

Cheap rundown dive. Don't chance it!!I had booked the room for an extended stay during spring break at SOU. I called to confirm my stay the day of arrival. I ask to be placed somewhere quiet on the first floor. They put me at top of stairs on second floor. The bed felt like it was stuffed with gunny sacs. Lumpy and so sunken the outside edges stuck up. I could hear people snoring from both sides or underneath my room all night. Paper thin walls. The bathroom was disgusting and tiny. Cheap toiletries, ice machine was out for my entire stay for a week. Their WiFi was almost nonexistent. It buffered every 10 secs!! Then would only connect for 10 Mins. I plugged my laptop in to be charged overnight but the plugs are so cheap the charger kept falling back out. I had to brace my charger with chair to stay in the wall. No room to park my car every night when I got back to the hotel. I parked in front of hotel next to the owners car and was told to park my car in shopping center parking lot up the street. Then carry all my belongings down to the hotel, up the stairs to my grungy room. Be aware!! Stay away. read more

Spent a night here, wish I hadn't. Really didn't need the confrontation from the manager over a simple matter. Jeez! I've never had an issue with a motel before, never complained, and I've stayed in a few dumps before. The lock/dead bolt to the door stuck, making it a safety concern. The shower was near impossible to figure out, so we ended up taking sponge baths. The Wi-Fi was broken, so no internet. When I brought up issues to the manager instead of dealing appropriately and professionally, he got angry, antagonistic and blamed me. Sheesh! The only good thing about this motel is the location. Supposedly this is a "pet-friendly" hotel, but when I asked for a pet friend to keep me company, they said I was supposed to bring my own. Seriously though, this is a nice little place, just a little bit off the main drag -- always a good feature in a motel. A fair distance from downtown and the Festival, but I would encourage you to hoof it; walking's good for you, and Ashland is right place to go for a stroll. And if you're allergic, you can get a room where pets aren't allowed. Lots of nice little practical amenities, like a mini-fridge in each room, and I noticed a pile of children's toys in the hotel lobby, which I assume were available for loan. My room was big enough for two beds, but instead there was a big open area that was good for lounging around. I assume that if I'd had a bunch of kids with me, they would have pushed aside the chairs and table and used the space for cots. Place is showing its age, but isn't neglected: plumbing and carpeting appears to have been replaced recently. read more

For the price (65$ or so using AAA and 0$ pet fee) this was a decent place to stay. there is a good field/grassy area just across the street for the dog to play and do his business. Walking distance to places to eat and drink. room was clean and cozy and the staff was nice. Ask for the wifi password for free access. We had just driven from Sacramento where we had stayed at a 65$ La Quinta room. Timbers was sooooo much better than La Quinta. Not saying much I know, but we would definitely stay at Timbers again if we pass through Ashland, and will definitely not stay at La Quinta. read more

Although I consult Yelp for most things, I signed up on Yelp just so I could write a good review of the Timbers Motel (which I found here to begin with). I took the chance and booked two nights there March 18-20. Our rate was about $50 a night booked through HotelReservations.com. My partner and I hadn't been to Ashland in about 20+ years so we didn't know what to expect and relied on Yelp reviews for this trip especially. We wanted to be within a 2 mile walking distance to the Shakespeare festival and Omar's. The Timbers Motel is just under 2 miles to the festival and is very close to Omars Restaurant (big disappointment that I might review later) and Morning Glory restaurant (wonderful - just as described by other reviewers here). I wouldn't say the Timbers is a 5-star motel but I'm giving it 5 stars because it had everything I wanted and more: a microwave oven and a refrigerator (for our many leftovers), a comfy king bed, coffee, and a clean albeit small room. Goodies and coffee in the lobby, too. The night hotel clerk and day manager were kind and considerate. I told the manager on our way out that I was so impressed with the amenities for such an inexpensive hotel, that it would get me on Yelp finally to write a review. He seemed grateful and said they do try to make the motel family friendly. It was better than that. It was quiet enough for us even though it's a pet friendly motel. We didn't hear any cats or dogs squawking but we asked for a non-pet room anyway. Our room 102 was small but not claustrophobic and plenty of drawers for clothes. Compared to the other hotels in the area, we got a terrific bargain and enjoyed our stay at the Timbers. I can't think of anything negative about our experience there. We both plan to return during the summer to see a few more plays and stay again at the Timbers. read more

Timbers is good motel. It's not a fancy hotel, it's definitely a motel. But the price is good, the location convenient, they have pet rooms, and the staff in the lobby is helpful and friendly. I went on a roadtrip with my 80lb black lab and Ashland was our destination. I found Timbers on Yelp and it fit the bill so we stayed there. The man in the lobby is sweet as can be. We chatted for a while and he was so helpful advising me about things to do in Ashland. The pet room was nice enough. The beds were decent. Overall it was an enjoyable place. Not luxury, but good enough for us. :) We also very much appreciated the field across the street, it was a perfect place for the pooch to...you know...do her business. I'd stay here again. read more
