    Orange peel stain

We stay here overnight and went to check out the next morning got charge for a small towel that was use for eating an orange, Because the hand towel had orange stains, I had to pay for the towel or I wouldn't receive my deposit.

Lovely little place to stay on a budget, rates were under $100 for a family of 4 with 2 beds and a kitchenette. Rooms were clean (excellent detail to cleaning like a SPARKLING clean tub (even in the grout areas) and inviting. Extra attention seemed to be paid to cleaning in this COVID time--we felt very safe with the level of cleanliness. Room was bright and had clearly been renovated recently. The place was built in the 1940's (ish) and they now have double-paned windows, air conditioning and heating, updated kitchen appliances (in the rooms with kitchenettes). We booked a kitchenette room and were surprised to have everything available to us we could possibly need: silverware, plates, mugs, cups, drain sink, dish soap, sponge, coffee maker, large fridge with freezer, stove, microwave, toaster, you name it, it was there, supplied. Room rate was affordable for a family of 4, ownership changed about 6 months ago (Feb 2020?) and the owner was at the lobby desk every time we went in. He was kind, helpful and accommodating. There is a small pool which is 4 ft, 5 ft and up to 8 ft deep, perfect for young kids. During this COVID time, we were able to be in the pool only one family at a time, monitored by the owner. Just next store is a shopping center with a grocery store, a wonderful Mediterranean place (Falafal Republic), and a Chinese place (Golden Dynasty) literally right outside of the hotel. Close by is the best brunch you could ever hope for: Morning Glory Cafe. So glad we chose this little hidden gem of a motel for our 1 night in town.

And we've stayed in various places before, including one night with our son, as guests in his room. But, we're staying here, because he & his family, are staying here, for a meeting, so we decided as a family to gather together in Ashland for hubby's Diamond Year! We're staying for 3 nights, including breakfast. I should rate this hotel 3 stars, for the following reasons: 1. The minute we walked in, I noticed how small the room was! How small? You ask. When you bend down, to rinse your mouth, & spit on the sink, your butt hits the wall. 2. You hold the flusher for the toilet, about 15 seconds, for totally flush down. 3. Cleaning lady, opened our room, without knocking, after 8:00am. She probably thought we're downstairs having breakfast! She wasn't supposed to come clean or make up our bed, for the first 2 days. 4. Peep hole on the door, made for people 6'-7'. I'm 5'2" and it's past my head! 5. Headboard is noisy, when you move. 6. The desk chair creeks! The first time I was alone, and I sat on it, I thought, the room was haunted, or a squirrel was knocking on the roof. I'm not exaggerating! That's what the noise was, I didn't know it was from my chair, until hubby told me about it. 7. You give your breakfast ticket to the lady outside the door, and you take a plate & bowl back inside the room with food. The 2nd day, there was no protein, (bacon, no eggs, or sausage), the children had bread, potatoes, fruit. Hard boiled egg, they don't eat! 8. The juice glass or plastic, is about 3-4 sips, it's so small! If you want more, you have to bring your own container to get large serving, or frequently get up and refill your glass. 9. Breakfast, an additional $5, pay in the lobby. 10. Make up stain on the sheet. I'm giving this a 4 stars, for the following reasons: 1. The lobby, the garden, stained glass, wrought iron impressive! (Took lots of photos) 2. The stairs, & the elevator all conveniently located easy to find & access. Never crowded. 2. The tallest building in Ashland, you don't need a GPS, just look for the tallest building! 3. The 8th floor, (son's family room) they got the corner, is so much larger ours. My 2nd son and us, he's on the 8th floor, and us on the 4th floor, same street view. Our room is the smallest! :( 4. The chair by my bed, was comfortably soft. 5. Love all my pillows, covers, and towels. 6. Friendly staff. 7. Very very clean, including the rooms. 8. Convenient parking. 9. Views beautiful, mountains. 10. Room comfortable temperature. 11. Walking distance, up or down, and we're both old, (not used to walking but we did!) to many of the sights, restaurants, creeks, park, Japanese Garden, Lithium Park. 12. Additional Note from 2nd son #1: It was great that I could charge my car in their parking lot. That's very convenient! Extra Note from 2nd son: he could hear noise from the street, on the 8th floor. I didn't think we could hear anything from the street. Total: But I can't just give a 3 star or a 4 star, so it's really in between!

There is no onsite staff, so you need to make sure you've received your welcome email which contains the door codes to enter. The room was elegant, with very high ceilings, completely decorated in the victorian style with lovely antique furniture, photos, and decor (old oil lamps etc.). The decoration was completely tasteful and not cluttered. Each morning, there is hot coffee prepared in the sitting room, which has a large table, lots of board games, and some comfy couches and chairs to sit in. My partner and I had an easy time doing a few hours of work each day in this room. The internet was fast and reliable. The hotel is very private, with no front desk staff and very few other guests, but there is someone on hand via phone or text, and they are able to get to the hotel within a few minutes to help with anything you need! They use a great platform for managing the reservation, where you can very easily purchase a 1pm late check out (for $25) - that came in very handy when we realized in the morning that we weren't going to be ready to leave at 11am! Thank you for a wonderful stay!
