My hubby ordered a chicken sandwich that was just as good.. All of our food was very tasty and we really enjoyed it. Portions are generous so hopefully you're very hungry or be prepared to bring plenty home. I was only able to eat half of my food and brought the other half home and my sandwich seemed better the next day which isn't always the case when you bring things home!! Came in on a busy Saturday night after attending another event in the area. The bar was hopping and we snagged the last 2 available seats. At first, it appeared they had 4 bartenders, a manager, and a barback behind the bar. However, other than the barback consistently washing/unloading dishes I am not sure what was going on with the service. Manager was not providing any assistance to his staff. However, he was filling his own water bottle. Other staff were taking selfies with guests. It took awhile to order a second round as well as pay our tab. This was a one and done visit for me.

My Mushroom Gyro was wonderful. The fries were stick-like, a bit overdone on the outside yet still a bit mushy on the inside. The Iced-tea was wonderful. The price was a bit high for a small veggie sandwich and fries ($15.19 with tax) plus tip of $3.25. For Lunch. I picked one of the most economical items on the menu. I actually thought there would be a more "reasonably priced" lunch menu but there was not. Here's why I didn't rate 5 stars... When we walked in we noticed that it was VERY loud. It was the music. It was just loud and hit us when we walked in the door. I said to the hostess "is there a quiet place to sit", she said "it's a small place this is the seating we have". Okay... We'll try it. My friend I was with was having a hard time hearing me and by the time we left, her ears felt as if she was at a concert... It was just soooo loud. I have a health issue that keeps me from talking loudly so I asked the waitress again about the noise (explained my health issue) and she said she'd talk to the bartender about turning the music down (but it for some reason it seemed unlikely he'd turn it down - I'm not sure as she didn't get that far...) She walked away then came back quickly and suggested we sit at the booth in the back which may be more quiet. I checked it out and sure enough, it WAS more quiet. Just this one booth straight back from the entrance. We thought about sitting outside but it was chilly and breezy... So we moved and sat at the booth... Sadly this booth was TIGHT on both sides of the table... I'm not a little person (5'10") and my legs struggled to find a comfortable spot. Food came out rather slowly but we weren't in a rush (except for to get out of the booth) so that was fine. Again, I thought my sandwich was really good! I might get it again but just carry out or go when it's warmer so I can sit outside instead. Glad to have this restaurant in town but I think it'd be nice if the calmed it down with the noise just a bit. read more

Sovereign is the most consistent and quality food establishment that we've ever been to. My wife and I come in at least once a week and they've never disappointed us. They simply do not miss any marks. The food is unique, flavorful, fresh, and always consistent. What you get today, you'll get your next visit. I think there's a lot to be said when a restaurant is able to maintain their consistency. They have a rotation for some main courses and appetizers, which is always great. The staff is so knowledgeable and is always able to explain everything clearly and with confidence. We tend to bring our 4 year old son and there hasn't been a single staff member who hasn't taken a few moments to interact with him and engage with his silly comments. We love that! The drinks are also as top tier as the food. Im a whiskey drinker, have been my whole life, and I really respect the vision of the drinks and bar theme. It pairs so well with their food. My wife tends to go for their tequila drinks or mojito variation and she has loved everything she has tried. I personally recommend the Clark Gable to any whiskey drinkers. Overall, I think in this day and age it's important to highlight and give praise to restaurants that are as good as this. I can only hope that the staff is well taken care of and treated with the respect they very clearly deserve. They will work hard for you and I cannot recommend this place enough. read more

My wife and I went last week with another couple and we were all extremely satisfied with our experience. The food was great. We started with fresh sourdough bread and some wings. I chose to get the widow maker (pork belly sandwich) and my wife had the risotto. Our friends ordered a sovereign burger and the pork tenderloin. Every thing was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The french silk pie at the end was without a doubt the best I have ever tasted The staff was friendly and took good care of us. I love the fact that everything on the menu is fresh and was impressed when waitress explained how the restaurant does not have a microwave or freezer. Some have mentioned it is pricey. I have worked in downtown Chicago for the last ten years and I have paid a lot more for lower quality food there. had dinner here with my wife on a saturday night. cubs were playing (and winning!!!) so i think they were slower than usual. we had the tacos, scallops, the meatloaf, and the risotto. all the dishes were fantastic. our server was enthusiastic and passionate about the beer selection and food. i see some reviews about the prices... they blatantly flaunt their restaurant as a farm to table restaurant. you're not going to find tgif prices. service, ambiance, cleanliness, deliciousness. thoroughly enjoyed my visit. i am so happy and excited for a restaurant like this in plainfield. a great leap forward for my hometown to have an establishment like this. congrats, and good luck. read more

Do not eat here if you have celiac disease. Their gluten free menu is not actually gluten free...that being said, if you don't have any problems with food, you MUST try their dish "dig on swine". Holy hell its good and I don't even like pork usually! Their cocktails are also wonderful and taste all fancy like you should be wearing clothes from the 1800s and sitting in a Victorian library or something. I wish very much that I could eat here, but I will jealously tell everyone else that their food and drinks are divine. read more

The staff and the space is wonderful. The food was something I used to crave but have been a few times over the past few months and it has been less then desirable. The risotto had so much oil it was hard to eat, the salad was underdressed and under seasoned. The menu is now small and I miss the wings and some of the other classics. As a bar the drinks are fabulous. Prices for everything is a bit higher, but with everything going on in the world it makes a bit of sense. The Brussels are still the best. read more

Wow is all I have to say been here twice and both times I was blown away. Farm to table the menu is great I had the pork tacos last time and they where to die for. I guess the only down side is that the wait is long especially on the weekends. I think everyone in the neighborhood knows that's it great which I guess is a good thing. I have been living in Plainfield for 10'years and was excited to see new restaurants opening up. Local craft beer selection is also great. Can't wait to go back !! read more

I had the Wiccan chicken which was amazing but my husband had the not my brothers enchiladas and they tasted like they came straight out of the freezer section at the grocery store not to mention his rice was very bland and his black beans were dry. We arrived on time, only to find at least 50 people crammed into the lobby with barely any room to move. When we finally made it to check-in, the hostess casually mentioned they were running 30 minutes behind. We continued checking in and were repeatedly told we were "close," which clearly wasn't the case. I really wish they had been upfront about the actual wait time, we would have left instead of standing there for over an hour. For a restaurant that's been around this long, it's disappointing to see this level of overbooking and lack of organization, especially for a major holiday where people don't have many other options for food due to many other places being closed.
