I'm glad that I chose Sowing Seed for my son. He has been attending for the past 2 years, transitioning from class 9 to classes 5 and 10. All teachers in his classes are extremely patient, experienced, and responsible. The school has an exceptional student-teacher ratio, which ensures that every student receives ample attention. The school also emphasizes DEI-- they celebrate holidays from around the world and has an international costume day. My son likes these parties and he likes to learn others' culture. In addition, Sowing Seed's rigorous curriculum promotes both academic and social-emotional development, which helped my to be accepted into an excellent kindergarten program. We loved SSS. My son thrived and was happy to go every morning. it was sad we had to move, but we have incredible memories !

I was hesitant to write this review bc I don't want anyone to be out of a job or business, but I'm doing this for the safety of children and so that the school will take feedback seriously and make important changes -- not just empty promises. This daycare has one major perk -- location -- for working parents. But I would not recommend it to anyone for the following reasons: 1. Negligence. My daughter attended this school at almost 2 yo. She had 5 different bite marks and (blood clots from the bites) all over her face. We were only informed toward the end of the day when we were on way to pick her up -- not when it happened earlier in the day. When we asked for more info, the story kept changing. They sent home a booklet on biting and said the "teachers" were reprimanded. Ms. Marilyn Duran never came back to my emails -- it took me persistently reaching out for days for her to finally reach back out. Her story was also different from the other teachers. One teacher finally shared that the others were just moved to another classroom. One or two bites I understand, but where was everyone to not pull the child away from biting my daughter 5 times all over her face? When she came out, other parents on the waiting line were gasping saying we should take legal action. It was horrendously managed. 2. Experience is not what you're sold. The teachers are not real educators, as we were told. There is also high turnover and some can't speak English so it was difficult to communicate with them and have a level of consistency -- which is critical for new time infants/toddlers adjusting to a daycare. They say and promise one thing but do another. 3. The owner also owns Son Cubano and Ventanas -- I somehow got on their mailing lists. Feels more like a business enterprise than a true daycare that cares for children and has utmost standards for staff and children. They were cutting corners in several places. Some "teachers" were wearing Grey's Anatomy scrubs - not sure what that's about... 4. Hygiene. My daughter came back several days with horrible diaper rashes (they were not changing her diapers frequently enough) and she was not cleaned properly. No matter how many times we mentioned this, at least once a week she would not come back clean. 5. Proof is in my daughter's reaction and growth -- she went to a different daycare and doesn't cry every time we say she's going to school now -- and she comes back clean and without any bites. Please do all the due diligence you can -- don't just take things at face value -- and always go with your gut. I would say even if a daycare/school is a bit farther away, it's worth it for the sake your child's safety and peace of mind. For the same money, you can just get a nanny. Looking back, my husband and I regret ever sending our daughter to SSS. Ms. Duran says all the right things but does not follow through. Now that we have our daughter in a different school, we see how horrible this experience was. Stay clear! read more

My son has been attending in SSS since he was 5 months , he's now 4 . I will never thanks enough Miss Duran the director, and all the staff , teachers that have been in our journey , not only for the dedication and experience they shows everyday but for have been so attentive and helpful catching on my son's ASD symptoms/signs. Thanks to them I have been able to diagnose and start early intervention at only 16 months and this obviously its been a game changer for us. On top of that they have showed the best flexibility allowing us to send therapist there trough the day without disrupting my son's schedule and routine. Shout out to this amazing school, 5 stars are not enough ! The school is beautiful, super clean , colorful . Now in this crazy time of covid they keep the place shining , clean and sanitized more then an hospital it's really a pleasure leave my son there in the morning , it feels safe to be in such good hands. read more

Extremely disappointed with the way my conversation went with this facility. I spoke to the Director Marilyn, had a very nice conversation at first regarding a shorter program for my son. She seemed very tentative and accommodating, willing to work with me. Said she would call me back with more information. I waited for the call, but it was not her when I did get the call. It was her assistant, with very little information and a submissive approach. She called, gave me the number (which was very expensive for 15 hours a week, but I understand there are costs and teachers, supplies etc). So I went back to speak to my husband and wanted to speak to the Director again regarding pricing and if there are any modifications and what the steps are etc. I call, request a call back from the Director Marilyn and she does call me back a few hours later. I asked her if there was any flexibility in the price given the short hours, she said no and felt it was okay to then get snippy and have a nasty attitude saying I should see the facility first. "It is so big, so nice, so expensive to run etc".. I explained to her that I was quite disappointed that she did not personally call me back to discuss this package, nor did she invite us in to see the place as she said she should have done before giving us a price. I said yes you should have done that, then I would not have so many questions regarding the cost and package-- instead she should have called us and said "lets set up a visit and then discuss the package and details." Instead I was called back by someone else, dismissed and treated rudely after the fact. I am extremely disappointed with the way this facility handled this, the way they treated me and then they have the audacity to ask an insane price behind it. I would never bring my son here, nor trust them after the way I was spoken to and treated for asking questions I deserved to know. I ended up saying I had enough of this conversation since she was being so rude, wished her well and hung up. I was appalled and now can see how the other reviews on here hold true. I hold a Doctorate in Education and I am an intelligent human being, I did not deserve this treatment. Also, to add, while I walked my son by the facility's bus stop grabbing Dunkin, one of their workers did not have a mask on as she was talking to the bus driver and getting off the bus. So for all their glory they claim to have, their staff does not follow protocol-- which is to keep distance on the bus and wear a mask. We LOVE this school! We are so lucky to have enrolled our daughter here. The teachers are fabulous and the activities they do are so fun!

We enrolled our daughter here Sept 2022 when she was 11 months old. we came from Primetime (cadence). While their tuition is very high (bc in close proximity of the ferry, tunnel, etc) and their 'cleanliness standards', its still a lot for the area. My eldest attends a different school and has better communications and notes than this school. When they moved my daughter up from infant to toddler room or when they changed the location of her room, they didn't tell me. I don't think the Director actually communicates well with the teachers and vice versa, bc there were a lot of things that were not told to me (daughter started walking, we can keep dry snacks in the room, when she needs extra clothes, shoes are getting small, needs a different sippy cup, etc). what helps is that the teachers are friendly, and my daughter likes going to school. But I am unsure if we will continue her here past 2 since there are other programs she can attend once she turns 2. read more

Amazing experience! My daughter had the pleasure of attending Sowing Seeds from the opening! We just attended her graduation ceremony this week. Words cannot express the gratitude and appreciation I have for Miss Maria and the entire staff at Sowing Seeds that helped prepare my daughter for kindergarten this fall. Wonderful school and staff! I wasn't happy AT ALL with the pre-K 4 teacher's staff , the "MAIN" teacher (Maria Rodríguez) is NEVER in the classroom, she is busy giving tours and occupied doing some other type of work in the school. Meanwhile, the class is supervised by teacher's who clearly are not qualified to properly care for the children. I was having a difficult time trying to transition my daughter with the potty training aspect and I had absolutely no help AT ALL at school ... Maria Rodríguez told me it wasn't her job to potty train my daughter. I recently had an opportunity to speak to Maria and the Director about the constant issues that I was dealing with and Maria Rodríguez's comment to me, of course EVERYTHING was denied in front of the Director .... This experience has really left me feeling disenchanted. It was misrepresentation from the beginning when there were two other people replacing the main teacher that I met initially! It's pure negligence on the school and whatever operation is being ran! WHAT a waste of money!!!! ..... You definitely DO NOT get what you paid for! I didn't have problem when she was going to Ms Shirley's class in Pre-K 3 but I could really see the difference when she was transferred to this Prek-4 class . I complained several times about my daughter coming home with a soiled diaper and they never did ANYTHING about it ... Upon removing my daughter from the establishment, I sent my husband to collect our daughter's belongings from the school. I was absolutely appalled by the fact that he sadly came back home with the same bag of diapers I gave them 2 months ago ( so she was using the same pull up I dropped her off in for the entire day ) read more

I couldn't tell you better things about this wonderful school. My son has been attending Sowing Seed school for almost a year and he has been thriving ever since he started here. We have tried a few other schools and interviewed many before enrolling and this has so far been the best one. The caretakers are actual teachers and have degrees in children education. They are so caring and loving, attentive and they treat each child as if it were their own. Ms Duran is a wonderful director and she knows every child by their name and is always in school and ensures everyone leaves happy for the day. She is very hands on and knows about everything that is going on. My son has the best of the best teachers - Ms Felicia, Ms Sabrin and Mrs G who have been absolute rockstars taking care of the kids. Each day I receive tons of updates from their day and some days I get more than 15 pictures of my son for that day! I have a piece of mind knowing what they are up to and how my child is feeling/doing that day. We have attended a private Montessori school in NYC prior to this but Sowing Seed has exceeded my expectations and previous experience. They truly care about each child and take care of them as if they were their own. This was our best decision to enroll in Sowing Seed School. read more

YOU NEVER GET A SECOND CHANCE TO MAKE A 1ST IMPRESSION! My wife and I went in for a tour of this place on Wednesday June 6th... On a day when the outside temp was pretty warm, the rooms (with infants and toddlers) were HOT AS HELL (and when we asked one of the "instructors" about it she said the thermostats are locked and they didn't have access to the key!) HUH?!?!?! After the tour -- which was conducted by one of the staffers -- we asked to have the owner give us a call as we had a couple of additional questions (and honestly just wanted to engage with whoever had ultimate responsibility over the facility). We didn't hear back on the day of the tour -- or the next day (Thursday). So I called Friday morning to express our interest and to ask again for a follow-up call... The receptionist apologized and gave me her word that someone would be calling back that day... It is now Monday and STILL no call. The only thing I can say is that if THIS is how they treat/respond to a prospective client, I can only imagine how they conduct themselves once they have you "on the hook"... Read before enrolling your child. Had a negative experience because the director increased the tuition cost by $500/month (23%) and was non negotiable. The justification for the increase sent in an email by the school was that they maintain a "clean meticulous state-of-the-art facility with convenience and accessibility to New York City" and due to operational costs. We were unable to keep our child in the school and were able to find other early childhood care schools close by that are just as good if not better at a cheaper tuition. The director really mismanaged the tuition costs in my case so hopefully it doesn't happen to you if you decide to enroll there. I had heard from other parents that they were searching for other schools also due to the high increase in tuition. 23% increase really?!?! It's really criminal in my mind! The director can spin the justification however they want for the increase but please have a better business plan going forward with tuition costs. read more

My son Ahan has been going there from the time they opened in 2017 till before covid. We had a great experience and he loved the school. The teachers are very caring and he learned a lot. We toured a number of daycares and found SSS to be really clean and a place where kids have fun. I always had good experience with Ms Duran (the director) if we had to bring any issues to her attention. I would highly recommend this place. All the staffs know each child's name even if they are not in their classroom. I am really thankful for how they cared for my son since he was an infant and made things really easy for a first time parent like me. I highly recommend Sowing Seeds. My son Leo started when he was 3 1/2 months old, he is now 10 1/2 months and is thriving. The teachers at the school are exceptional. He gets so excited when he sees his teachers Miss Maria and Miss Shirley, he doesn't even turn around or cry when I leave him. I visited many facilities before Sowing Seeds and I picked the school because Mrs. Duran - the owner and director - emphasized the importance that everything the teachers do with the kids, even babies, have to have a purpose. I have not been disappointed. The kids are not put in swings or chairs all day, they get lots of floor time. They are played with, read to, they play music, they paint, they are cuddled and most importantly they are loved. The teachers get so excited by all of Leo's developments, they send me pictures and videos and try their best to make me feel as though I haven't missed anything. Mrs Duran has created a happy environment, and it is reflected in the smiles and joy we are greeted with every morning and the smiley, happy boy I pick up after work. read more
