SoCowboy is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots in Arlington! The only drawback I'd mention is the location--since it's right near the stadium, it can be tough to find parking if there's any kind of event going on. Definitely better to visit on non-event days to really enjoy the experience without the hassle. Now onto the food: the fried rice is a 10 out of 10--flavorful, perfectly cooked, and just delicious. The wagyu dumplings? Another 10 out of 10. The only dish I wasn't a fan of was the lobster wontons. The wontons themselves were good, but the broth they came in was way too sweet and a little overwhelming for my taste. Aside from that, everything I've tried has been on point. Customer service is also a 10 out of 10--friendly, attentive, and professional. The restaurant itself is beautiful, and the ambiance is amazing. What we got: We decided to do a snacking type of dinner so we got the snow crab taco, crispy rice tuna, wagyu beef skewers, french fries with fresh truffle, truffle kanpachi roll, and the dragon roll. We started off with the fried cauliflower, that sounds basic, but oh it is not! ...Fried but gluten-free with hazelnuts, some type of goat cheese smear, and raisins... That was the best cauliflower app we've ever had. We also got the barbecue ribs and they didn't stand a chance at our table; they disappeared rapidly. Two people ordered the Wagyu fried rice and ate every bite. My daughter got the California roll and really enjoyed it as well. I had the miso black cod which was simply amazing. Had date night on Saturday and this spot was beautiful. Service was amazing. Our food and drinks came out quickly and we were checked on by our waiter and other staff walking by. We had the lobster wonton, hamachi chili, fried rice, orange chicken and a salmon shrimp tempura roll--I recommend all of this! Our favorite was the lobster wonton! Least was the snow crab. A Vegas style gym in the heart of Arlington Texas, Soy Cowboy is fine dining at its best! From the moment we arrived, service was impeccable and we enjoyed a night of exceptional service. Complimentary valet is available as the restaurant is just outside the Loews Hotel. The ambience is perfect for a romantic night out or a fun girls night! I was instantly impressed with the decor both inside and on their indoor bar area with floor to ceiling windows. We had reservations and was quickly seated to our table. After an order of drinks, we were brought cold towels to clean our hands which was quite refreshing. We happen to try this place during restaurant week and had a great three course of spicy tuna roll, shrimp tempura, and a delicious hamburger. Someone in my party ordered the delicious steak which was as smooth as butter ordered medium rare. We ended the evening with the popular cowboy cone dessert and a strawberry treat, not equally delicious and perfectly served. Las Vegas-style Fine Dining has arrived in Arlington, Texas. Tonight we had the pleasure of eating at Soy Cowboy to celebrate my birthday. Since we know the Berg Hospitality group has done such a great job with B&B Butcher, we had high expectations, and Soy Cowboy did not disappoint. First, you can valet at the Loew's Arlington Hotel and they will validate. We arrived to a stunning dining room with exceptional decor. Beautiful fabrics, layered wood paneled ceilings, and great lighting really set the tone. The restaurant is gorgeous. Our server, Edgar was wonderful. He walked us through the menu and made recommendations on how many dishes to order. For two of us, we chose six starters, two sushi rolls, one main Roboto, and a side. We started with the Crispy Rice Tuna. Delightful! Fresh tuna, with a spicy mayo and siracha, and perfectly crisp sushi rice. The perfect bite! Next was the Rock Tempura Shrimp. Light as air batter, poppable shrimp, served over a lovely dressed salad with diced pineapple. While the shrimp could be larger, the sauce and salad were perfect, and the batter was exceptional. Perfectly seasoned, too. Next was the cucumber salad. Wow! This dish was a star. So fresh, filled with perfectly cut cucumbers, diced avocado, peeled cherry tomatoes,picked onion, and Furikake, all with a delightful sesame vinaigrette with notes of peanut. One of the best salads I have ever had. The sushi rolls were up next. The Surf & Turf Roll and Truffle Kanapachi Roll. The Surf & Turf roll has tempura shrimp, tamago, cucumber, topped with A5 Wagyu and a delightful green sauce. This roll was exceptional. The Truffle Kanapachi Roll was spicy salmon, puffed cucumber, ships peppers, topped with Kanapachi, cilantro truffle and micro greens. Really fresh and tasty roll! The next app was a STAR. The Lobster Wontons. Perfectly cooked dumpling dough, perfect lobster filling, nestled in the most flavorful teriyaki butter broth with chive oil and mushrooms. Possibly the most perfect bite of the night. Last, the main, the Miso Black Cod. We'll call this fish butter, because it was perfectly cooked, rich, moist, and flavorful. Did not need a knife to cut it. Perfect flake. The miso glaze has a tiny bit of char, and served with the baby bok choy, and sauce it was divine. It paired exceptionally well with the fresh sweet corn with miso butter and 7 spice. The broth with the corn was the star. The manager, Clay, who came out to chat with us and was one of the friendliest, kind restaurant managers I have met. He brought out a dessert platter that was a superstar! Chef's selection of desserts, including the Cocoa-nut and Mandarin Orange, along with a large array of perfectly ripe fresh fruit, and two custard tartlets. The Cocoa-nut was the best dessert I have ever had. A chocolate shell with coconut panna cotta, pineapple like compote, and some other delicious textural components that made ever bite a surprise and delight. I could eat that dessert again and again. The orange had a light lavender soil base and a citrus interior and light cake wrapped in mousse. Even the stems were edible. From the service Edgar provided, to Clay's hospitality and the EXCEPTIONAL food, I give this restaurant a perfect score. It's also so gorgeous. Go now, before the secret gets out. Never in my 25 years living in Arlington, would I have guessed that Arlington would get a prestigious restaurant like Soy Cowboy. We have been looking forward to Soy Cowboys opening in Arlington for a year since learning about their opening at B&B Butcher in Fort Worth. To those who don't know about B&B Butcher in Fort Worth, it is one of the best steak houses in Fort Worth owned by the Berg Hospitality group. The Berg Hospitality Group owns 15 concept restaurants, that are mostly in Texas, that focus on perfecting food quality as well as perfecting the quality service. Soy Cowboy is the newest concept that the Berg Hospitality Group has opened in Arlington serving immaculate Asian fusion dishes. I can officially say that no other restaurant in Arlington can beat Soy Cowboy in terms of flavor, quality, atmosphere, and service. Just walking into Soy Cowboy you are automatically immersed into an atmosphere that feels like a restaurant in Vegas or California in terms of intimacy, escapism, and theme. If I had to describe a similar restaurant that exhibits the same atmospheric qualities as Soy Cowboy it would be the Yellowtail Japanese Restaurant at Bellagio in Vegas. You don't feel like you are in Arlington when dining at Soy Cowboy which plays into the escapism factor of this dining experience. I recommend if you have reservations get here early to enjoy the bar as well! The bartenders are friendly and the drinks are great! Let's dive into the food that will leave you awestruck and begging for more during your dining experience at Soy Cowboy. (Extra note: they bring you refreshing cold towels to wipe your hands with when you sit down.. talk about amazing service!) We chose the Hamachi Chili with serrano pepper, cucumber relish, cilantro, and ponzu to start with. This was the first dish that we tried and it broke my mind in terms of flavor and quality. The citrus, cilantro, and sweetness of the ponzu blended with a chorus of flavors... it will leave you amazed! I've had my share of hamachi and think this might be the best! The next appetizer was the Korean BBQ Ribs that came with peanuts, scallions, sesame, pickled fresno peppers, and cilantro. If you are looking for more of a comforting appetizer order these! The meat falls off the bone and the savory flavors work so well with the sweet glaze on top. Instead of going into the main course, we had to try Soy Cowboys' specialty sushi rolls. This is the best sushi in Arlington! Might be honestly my favorite sushi ever! We ordered the surf and turf roll, yellowtail serrano roll, and the truffle kanpachi roll. If you want a more tame and refreshing roll order the yellowtail serrano roll. If you want more of a bold flavor order the surf and turf roll or the truffle kanpachi roll. All three of these rolls blew my mind when it came to flavor and freshness but the one which stood out the most was the truffle kanpachi roll. I was flabbergasted by how much flavor was packed into one roll. For our main course, we ordered the 1.5 lbs whole roasted lobster and the Australian wagyu tomahawk to share. For myself, I had to order the miso marinated black cod since I love any kind of miso fish, especially in California and Truluck's restaurant in Southlake. I was glad that I ordered the miso marinated black cod because there is nothing comparable to this soft, flaky, buttery sweet miso cod! It's better than any miso cod in California and much better than Truluck's miso sea bass. The lobster just melts in your mouth that will change your preconceptions about lobster. Immaculate! The king or the actual star of the main courses would be the Australian wagyu. You can taste the quality, the richness, the tenderness, and the smoky marbling of the meat that is present in every bite. The main courses were flawless! I had high expectations of Soy Cowboy beforehand and somehow they surpassed my expectations by 10 fold. This restaurant left me astounded in terms of food quality, flavors, service, atmosphere, and attention to detail. In my dreams, I only imagined Soy Cowboy to be a restaurant that could only exist in upscale southern California or a restaurant in Vegas but, dreams do come true which now exist in Arlington Texas. Well done Soy Cowboy! This is the first upscale, fine-dining, and five-star restaurant in Arlington! We will be back and will recommend everyone to come and experience Soy Cowboy! The server was very attentive, knowledgeable and inviting. The interior is tastefully decorated with an intimate vibe. The restaurant week menu looked amazing. There were 3 courses with various options. I opted out of the tasting menu since the sushi options were calling my name. I started off with the salt and pepper calamari which was very tasty. For dinner I ordered the vegetable tempura which was perfectly crisp and the truffle kanpachi roll. I could probably eat that everyday for the rest of my life! I ordered the orange chicken, which was phenomenal, and sampled the lobster... also delicious and well prepared. The drinks were flavorful (I had the raspberry refresher), and the overall presentation of everything was impressive. The service was great. I also appreciated the free valet and how organized everything felt from start to finish. However, I did find it odd that they charged for water. The sushi didn't quite live up to the price. So I don't normally review much, but everything was so bizarre here that I just wanted to get this all out... First weird thing: the bathrooms - they are SO DARK. Like almost pitch black! And I get that they're going for a "vibe", but please, I don't want to stumble around when I'm just trying to find a stall... even just a few more lights would help. It honestly gave "weird dungeon in a porno" vibes rather than "elegant". Second bizarre thing: the towels. It's pretty normal and common to be given a hot towel at the beginning of a fine dining experience, but when we got our towels, they were COLD. Like super duper cold! It was incredibly off-putting and unpleasant... I imagine it was done on purpose, but we were all thrown off by it because the usual expectation is a hot towel. It just felt like we were using someone's used gross bathroom towel... The next weird thing was the menu itself: the menu items list ingredients next to the name, but they don't include the "main" part of the item. (Example, a salmon roll doesn't actually list that it contains salmon). And one can infer what's supposed to be there, but one of the items was a "Soy Cowboy Burger". One of our party did not eat meat, so she looked at the name and the ingredients list, and decided she'd order that. I had been mulling over the lack of clarity on the menu and luckily asked our waiter what the patty was made of, and sure enough, it was some kind of wagyu... NOT soy. And yes I know the restaurant is called "Soy Cowboy"... but if the main ingredient had been included, the potential for confusion would not have happened. It really sounded like it would be a "SOY" (cowboy) Burger, not a "SOY COWBOY" Burger. Next, I feel like my party got caught in a money trap because we all ordered sushi, and after the waiter took our orders, he asked if we wanted wasabi. Most of us did, and we didn't think anything of it until the bill came and they charged us each TEN DOLLARS for it... it was not on the menu and it was not specified that we'd be charged, because the way the question was asked was just like if they were asking if we wanted any other condiment. It felt money-grubby and definitely ruffled our feathers. I am fine paying for a nicer quality wasabi, but would just have liked it to be clear it was extra. Lastly, they messed up one of my party's orders and while they did fix it, it was just one more weird thing during this experience because it seemed that only one of the waiters knew the difference between the sushi rolls... it just seemed odd for such a high-roller type place to have anyone, much less multiple, employees not know the difference in menu items. Some of them did not know how to correctly pronounce menu items, too... which again, was just strange coming from a higher-end place that is allegedly supposed to know what they're about when it comes to their food. But the restaurant was touted as a "Tour of Asia" in a really cringey fashion, so I guess I shouldn't have expected too much... That all said, I can't complain about the food - everything was tasty, albeit on the (very) expensive side. The servers were all nice, too. It's just that everything about our experience was so odd that none of us left feeling particularly satisfied. But hey, now we have things to talk about whenever the topic of weird restaurants comes up, so I guess there's that, haha. Would I go back or recommend the place? No. But again my perspective is really not about the food, which was just fine. (Which was different) Orange chicken was light in the batter and the sauce was thick but not excessive. They use thigh meat in all of their chicken dishes. The dessert platter presentation was cool. The Japanese cheesecake was super light and fluffy. The coconut dessert (forgot the name) had chocolate hard shell with panna cotta and fresh mango inside was delicious. Of the restaurants on the Loew's property in Arlington, this is by far the best. The prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is amazing and the service is great.
