Leslie, the manager on duty, was a true blessing. I was having a horrible day, nothing to do with the spa, but she treated me with such kindness and grace. I am truly thankful for her keen awareness that I was upset, and that she took it upon herself to turn my day around. Really, my whole week. I left feeling like my heart had been cared for as much as my body and spirit. On top of that, Naché was my masseuse, and she was so wonderful. I could literally feel her compassion and thoughtfulness. Every detail was special, and I could tell that she was respecting how special of an experience this was, even though she did it every day. We checked in to the Spa Area and was told to walk into the Lady's area and someone would meet us there. No one was there. We walked around and had to find someone to help us. She showed us to the lockers and I needed new slippers because I received 2 right foot slippers. I had to call the Spa Desk because no one was around to help. We walked into the lounge and unfortunately, there was only 1 glass cup so my friend and I had to share a glass. The only thing that went well was the massage by both Karen & Carol. When we showered, I showered in a room with dirty towels left behind. I had to call the Spa desk again because I couldn't find any help in the area and ask if they had brushes. She came to us and said we ran out. This is definitely not the Four Seasons I know as Santa Barbara's Four Season was exceptional. It's quite disappointing that this day spa didn't even clean up the spa, refill water, refill cups, or have help around. Any proper day spa would have a lady who would provide a tour knowing it's someone's first time there or have a lady around the area. For $150 for a 55 minute massage, you would expect more from a day spa. read more

I went to try out the spa since I needed a few kinks to be worked out especially in my back. My masseuse was Sarah, and she was very good. I chose to do the Pink Massage which a percentage of the proceeds go to the Lynn Sage Foundation for breast cancer - which is a good cause. Sarah worked out all my kinks and left me feeling even more relaxed and started to unwind. Once the massage was done (which i didn't want it to!), I was given a glass of rosé champagne and pink macaroons. As I was checking out, that glass of champagne left me even more relaxed that I couldn't even calculate the bill! 11/13/2013 - got a pumpkin pedi today - the room was serene. I was able to relax even in the chair - since it massaged my back and got a kink out of it. Beatriz polished my toes perfectly! A pumpkin mask was applied to my feet and the foot massage was heavenly! Will be coming back for another service! read more

The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Chicago is a must do. If your looking for a soothing escape, mental health day, relaxation and time to rejuvenate..... GOOOOO!!! Anna was thee expert therapists. I received a 55 min full body massage and she knew exactly where my stress points were without me advising her beforehand. I went on a Thursday and spent time the pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room without a ton of people. Timing was great until later in the afternoon. Experience was still great but busy. The relaxation room is a bit small and seemed to get crowded but none the less peaceful. The glass of "Bubbly" made the mood and ambience very calming. :) It was a personal well-being day that I truly enjoyed. I've tried Kohler spa which I had deemed my favorite.... I'm torn! Bourbon Massage What a masterful idea! A massage with the scent of Bourbon and the "happy ending" that concludes with a rare special bourbon made only made for the Four Seasons Hotel! We packed a change of clothes, set out for the city and shopped till we nearly dropped. Then we retired to the spa at the Seasons, where we were refreshed and renewed! We changed to our night attire and then had a incredible meal at Sprout. I recommend, starting at the Allium bar and have a pre-cocktail from their awesome tinctures! The Four Seasons doesn't exactly market itself as having great bargains, so I hope I'm not doing them a disservice with this review. But I can't believe the experience I got for the money I paid. I was window shopping online and checking out their $250 facials one day when I saw their waxing prices, which were actually cheaper than my regular salon. I figured it was a misprint, and called to make sure. No, it was right. I immediately made an appointment. All I had was a bikini and leg wax, but it was the best wax I've ever had. When I got there I changed into a beautiful robe and slippers and was lead into a lovely room that somehow was dim enough to be comfortable but had enough light for my esthetician to be thorough. Her name was Yulia, and she was wonderful. She was both fun to talk to and comforting, and I am yet to find a single imperfection in her work. She carefully tweezed everything when she was done to make sure she got everything, and used the most wonderful smelling products on my skin afterward. I felt great. When she was done, she lead me to the relaxation room and told me to take my time. What time was my appointment? 1pm What time did my service end? 2:30pm What time did I leave? 5pm I didn't want to leave! The relaxation room had comfortable couches and cucumber water and served dried pineapple, cherries, and strawberries (not some tacky "brownie bar," like you-know-who). I chatted with other women, lounged, and when I got bored I headed to the steam room and then enjoyed an amazing cold shower that was a massage in itself with its water pressure. Things did get eventful though. There was an event going on during my visit. A thirteen year old girl was having a birthday party at the spa. They hung out at the pool, got their nails done, and wreaked havoc in the lounging area. These girls left their crap all over the steam room and spread wet towels everywhere. When I was in the shower, one walked in on me by accident, screamed, and ran away. She was followed by two others a few minutes later, and they thought my shriek was very funny. They took my robe and towel with them so I had nothing to wear when I got out. The lounging area had been filled with staff when i arrived, but they were nowhere to be seen when I was faced with having to walk out and look for cover amid the stuff they left on the ground. They were probably addressing the havoc the girls wreaked somewhere else in the spa. The girls were cute and funny, though. One placated me a little by complimenting my boobs. Do you remember when you were twelve and you were curious about sex and liked to talk dirty? But, you still didn't quite understand how stuff works? As I dressed I listened to a wonderful conversation of girls using dirty words, followed by an argument about how exactly sperm gets to its source - does it crawl across skin? Does it jump into a vagina from the penis? Do sperm have free will? Do the boys control the sperm somehow? Classic. This experience was hands down the BEST spa experience I've ever had in the United States (the best overall being in Dubai). This is despite the very brief interlude with the girls, who were actually pretty amusing. And I cannot believe that I got this experience for less than $150 including a 25% tip. They also have a promotion in which they have $30 off all massages all summer, and I can't wait to come back to take advantage of that. If I could afford it, I would go nowhere else. read more

It is the Four Seasons Spa. I know, I know.......... You see the Four Seasons logo, and you can actually feel your wallet get lighter in your pocket. But, you might be surprised, because the price is comparable to most of the other full service spas in the city. The big difference between any other spa and the Four Seasons is the absolute luxury that you get for your money. Expect top notch facilities and products to be used in all of your services. Couple that with impeccable and friendly service, and the pooh pah posh of a place like the Four Seasons, and any significant other will be drooling from the mouth. My favorite is the couples massage. An hour and a half of side by side relaxation, tended to by experienced and courteous professionals. They even spread rose petals over the massage tables for ambiance. That is the type of attention to detail you should expect. For the newbies. Add the pool package to your day, and chill in the hot tub or under the skylight in the pool. It is a perfect get away on a cold day in the city, without traveling to the Bahamas. So now that you know....... Use this information wisely! read more

I've had a few manicures and pedicures at the Four Seasons spa over the years. It's not my go to place for an upscale spa, and I'm really not sure why that is. They always do a great job and the polish lasts despite at least a week or two (longer on my toes, but finger nails take more abuse). The manicurists are always friendly, but not too talkative. They know when you're in the mood to chat and when you're not, definitely a huge plus in this industry. The price really isn't that bad. $85 for the seasonal pedicure (for almost an hour) was a pretty good deal. Almost an hour long relaxing pedicure complete with a small bottle of champagne and a plate full of sugar cookies. Definitely worth it. I really like the heated wrap on my neck and shoulders, not many spa's do this, and it always gets my attention. Always worth the time and money, I have to move this spa up to the top of my list for high end manicures and pedicures. read more

First off, let me say, I just posted this on 6/29 after waiting a few months to decide to post. And I ended up being second post I find that very "interesting" observation. I used to be an esthetician the spa industry and so I know a good facial. I know a fantastic facial. Out of all of my facials, this was 1st or 2nd in line for the WORST EVER facial experience. I wanted this micro current "circ cell" facial that is new and supposed to be state of the art and thought I would be getting some fine machinery and not a NuFace handheld that anyone consumer can buy online. Please. Are you kidding me? Why would I pay for this lame experience when I could walk down the Peninsula where they are using the amazing CACI machine that J-Lo and everyone raves about? Or frankly buy NuFace on my own. Second, my esthetician had bad breath. Rule #1 of being an esthetician: Don't have bad breath ever when working less than a foot away from your clients face. You can't have coffee breath or even think about smoking a cigarette and working on clients. Actually all estheticians are supposed to be wearing vinyl gloves these days because the CDC says they are service providers in public health. I learned this through a panel of experts at a skincare conference. I had to point this out to the esthetician who acted put off by it. I also pointed out this fact to management as well. So she has a cold sore and wanted to do a gloveless facial? No thank you. Third, she had terrible massage movements. It was lymphatic massage but still, lymphatic still should feel good. Not pokey and awkward. Perhaps she needs experience with gloves....everyone there should be wearing gloves with facials. If the service provider isn't fabulous, whether its the Four Seasons-that is irrelevant. A bad facial is a bad facial. read more

My husband and I booked a couples massage for a week after our wedding, looking forward to some much needed relaxation. While the massages themselves were great, the facilities at the spa were sub-par. I've been to other Four Seasons spas and this one was by far the worst. My husband, who rarely complains about anything, said that the locker room was the dirtiest he had ever seen, with dirty towels, robes, and other trash all over the floor and counters. He said it looked like no one had cleaned it in a week. No male attendant ever came to show him around or give him a clean robe, so he just put his stuff in a locker and grabbed a towel. He later went back to the locker room inquiring about a robe and the attendant who was there was not friendly at all and answered him rudely when he asked whether the robes hanging on a rack were clean. We ordered 2 glasses of wine and a fruit plate to be delivered to the pool and it took over 30 minutes to get the glasses of wine. We ended up canceling the fruit and I just grabbed an apple from the waiting room since we ran out of time to eat before our massages started. The spa did comp one of the glasses of wine because of this. The waiting room with water and apples next to the pool had dirty cups and towels all over it. The pool is nice, but as others have stated, it is open to hotel guests, not just spa guests. There was an extremely loud young child while we were there who was shouting and screaming and jumping/splashing all around. Not exactly the picture of relaxation we were hoping for. The actual massages were terrific, totally on point with other Four Seasons spas. However, if you are looking for a top notch spa that offers a luxurious escape from reality for a few hours, I would look elsewhere. read more

The Four Seasons has to definitely be one of the best spas in Chicago. I went in for a 50 minute body wrap which was well worth the price. Their staff is not pretentious at all and they did seem to want to make sure I enjoyed my experience. Their relaxation lounge is small (the picture posted above makes it look a lot bigger than it is.) However, I did enjoy the nooks they had and could have easily taken a nap while in there. The treatment rooms were nice and calming, but nothing extraordinary to write about. I had the red sedona wrap which was excellent. It was a 50 minute treatment that included a wrap, scalp or foot massage, and moisturizer. The locker room had a sauna and a eucalyptus steam shower. It was also fully stocked with fluffy robes, single-use hair brushes, soaps, shampoos and the works. The only downside is that hotel guests pass through the locker room to get access to the pool and spa so it can get a little loud. I didn't check out too much of the pool but it did look inviting. Keep in mind though, that hotel guests also have access to the pool so it won't necessarily be a spa experience in the pool area. read more

This was my introduction to spa massages, and now I'm hooked and spoiled for life! The spa is luxurious from start to finish, and I cannot think of a better way to be pampered. The plusher-than-plush robe and slippers you begin the experience with are a wonderful way to prepare for a few hours of spa-tastic fun. Then there's the lovely, calming relaxation room where you can hang out between treatments, downing tea and strawberries in softly lit alcoves. And the spacious shower and sauna area is just bright enough to bring you back to the real world without breaking the spell. As for the spa treatments themselves, I had a mani/pedi and an hourlong swedish massage. The staff were courteous and professional, but without the slightest trace of pretension. My friend and I bought ourselves the rejuvenation spa package for our birthdays. I knew it would be relaxing, but I didn't know it would be as perfect as it was. Included in the package was a facial, massage, manicure, and mini pedicure. I had my facial first - and Ludi did an incredible job. She asked if I had questions along the way with what she was using. It was so calming and nice to have somebody willing to share as much or as little as you wanted to know about what was going on. My massage was next and Ana definitely catered to my wants and needs. She asked if I wanted her to focus on any specific part, what kind of pressure I wanted, etc. She made sure to ask periodically to make sure it was exactly the experience I wanted. One thing that bugs me about most massages is the fact that they massage your head last and you end up looking like a greasy mess when you leave the room. For this massage, I appreciate the fact that I didn't feel like I took a bath in baby oil, but I still felt hydrated and soothed. Next, we had our nails done. I had Lisette and God bless her for not making fun of my pathetic nails (I'm a biter). Everything here was pretty standard and I'm beyond impressed that more than a week has passed and my manicure JUST got the tiniest chip. Definitely the longest lasting manicure ever. After all the services in the package, I took advantage of the steam room, which was perfect. Beautiful amenities all around and also a very relaxing waiting room to lounge around in between services. I cannot wait to come back here and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a little relaxation. It is pricey, but honestly it's not outrageous or out of the ballpark of any other spa. In this case, you do get (more than) what you pay for. My girlfriend was in town from Boston for a mini-bachelorette weekend and we decided to get pedicures here. The person helping me on the phone was really nice, too, really explaining in detail the parking situation and how to get from the garage to the mall to the hotel (didn't want to get caught out in the freakish snow storm we had that weekend!). Let me preface everything by saying it was expensive, true, but well worth it, in my opinion. Everything was way ahead of what you normally experience at your neighborhood nail place. The setting is an amazing, cozy room; it's well-appointed and doesn't smell of chemicals, the people are really courteous and helpful, the products are top-notch and best of all you don't feel rushed in any way. it is truly comfortable and relaxing. We got the Hot Chocolate pedis, which is just a pedicure with servings of delicious hot chocolate and cookies - perfect for the wintry weather outside. They were really generous with the food, too - I think between the two of us, we had 2 or 3 pots of hot chocolate! They put these warm amazing shoulder/neck pillows on us, which smelled of cinnamon. We ended up buying a pair at the end of the appointment! After our toes were painted, we had the option to wait for our nails to dry in the relaxation room or by the pool. Given that we were probably going to be chatty, we opted for the pool. In addition to our actual appointment (~50 mins if I remember correctly), I think we hung out by the pool for a good 1/2 hour at least! And, our legs were so smooth after, we couldn't help but touch our legs again and again! The pedicure is still good after 3+ weeks! This will def become my new now-and-again splurge treat! read more

Relaxing massage coupled with excellent customer service. Wow. Good thing I don't live in the city; otherwise, I'd be tempted to spend far too much time at the Four Seasons spa! I had never had a hot stone massage before, so I was a little nervous, but the therapist put me at ease immediately and kept me that way the entire time. I was so relaxed by the end of my session, it's a good thing I didn't have any plans to be productive for the rest of the day. My only complaint about the spa is noise. It's not loud, by any means, but the walls seem to be paper thin, and I could hear footsteps and doors opening/closing in the hall outside during my massage -- slightly distracting. I was flying out to San Francisco and had a long layover in Chicago. Having previous experience with the Four Seasons hotel, I was confident in the quality of the spa. However, I was extremely disappointed by the quality and the service of the manicure I received. From the beginning I was rushed into picking a color and the technician was noticeably in a hurry as evidenced of her dropping her instrument on the floor. The final product was horrific, not only did she misshape the nails, but did a grossly inadequate job of applying the shellac nail polish. Not worth $70 read more

Fantastic experience at the Four Seasons Spa this past weekend! I received a 55-minute Signature Massage as a pre-wedding gift from a girlfriend and I took full advantage of all this spa has to offer and it made for an incredibly relaxing Sunday! On the day of your treatment you have full access to all the amenities of their spa area, which includes the swimming pool and whirlpool, exercise room, locker room, sauna, steam room, showers, etc. Come before your treatment and stay after...I can't think of a better way to spend a day! This area is also available for the use of hotel guests, so there can be kids running around the locker room and in the pool, it really just depends on the day and time. Prior to your treatment you can lounge in the quiet, dimly lit treatment waiting room. Grab a glass of the infused water or tea with a handful of nuts and dried fruit while waiting for your therapist to come for you. Once they arrive they'll guide you to your therapy room just down the hall-my massage table was heated and the moment I slid down under the sheets I was immediately at ease. My Signature Massage was with Tammy and she was truly fantastic! I've had a LOT of massages, and this definitely ranks up there as one of the best; just the right amount of pressure (I like a deeper massage), hitting all my problem areas. One of my best friends is in law school, if you've ever been in law school or even in close proximity to a law school during finals, the tension is downright palpable. Her birthday is in May so I decided the best gift I could give would be some relaxing post-finals pedi's at a fancy place downtown. I picked Four Seasons after much research, if I'm dropping serious coin to get our nails painted, it's going to be nothing short of amazing. I was absolutely not disappointed. It was relaxing and fun, they didn't rush anything and the staff was superb. We got to sit and relax by the pool area while our toes dried. The area had refreshments and fruit to nibble. LOVED IT! for my birthday gift, my bf treated me and two of my best girlfriends to a spa day at the four seasons hotel spa. we started our amazing day at 10 am with a facial and massage. the treatment rooms were the right temperature, lighting and mood. the lavender scent was lovely and the massage oil didn't make my back break out. yay!!! :) after our services, we lounged for 2+ hours in the eucalyptus sauna, dry sauna and the lounge. it was much smaller than the resort spas but had all the important amenities including complimentary fruits and drinks. :) despite its size, none of the staff or other customers made us feel uncomfortable for loitering. yes, the bill was as much as a balenciaga bag but it was definitely worth every penny! read more

The massage I had was very good for a spa (usually I don't expect much from a spa - at least nothing more therapeutic than a Swedish), and the relaxation room is fantastic. The height of luxury and indulgence - just what I love. While I waited for my massage with a very handsome masseuse with strong hands (God, his hands were strong, and his arms were so muscular!), I waited in a lounge and was pampered with cucumber water, dried fruit, and chocolates (and even a private curtained nap area). The pool is stunning, and the poolside lunch was nice. After the hot-stone massage that had me drooling and moaning, I was treated to a perfect shot of ginger tea. I had a massage here on Sunday, and my experience with Karen bumped up my review to 5 stars! I have had massages before, but this one was the most relaxing by far. Karen asked me where I was feeling pain and asked some follow up questions, like if I sat at a desk all day (I do). She promised me 55 minutes of bliss, and she did not disappoint at all. The pressure was perfect and I have not felt that relaxed in a really long time. When she was finished, I told her that everything was perfect and she was very happy - it's clear that she loves what she does. I really felt like a VIP! I spent some time in the relaxation room afterwards and did some reading. I went into the locker room, expecting to hear kids once again, but it was perfectly silent. For my first spa experience, I decided to go all out! At the risk of being called bousgie by my friends, I decided to treat myself to the Sensory rejuvenator (mini spa escape) which includes Swedish massage, facial, manicure and pedicure. It was so wonderful and the best gift I could have given myself. The people there really treat you right. They are sweet and accommodating and really want you to have a great spa experience. The whole spa is really quiet, so you definitely feel relaxed. They have this waiting room where you can eat dried fruits and relax in their big comfy nooks. I could have stayed in that room all day and been happy with my experience. I enjoyed all the services I had that day and not once did I feel intimidated by the staff or the people. They were not pretentious in the slightest and treated everyone with the same amount of respect. I think I'll go back soon just to feel all warm and fuzzy again! read more

The Circ Cell facial!!!!! Seriously without a doubt worth every penny and here is why. I was informed that this is a brand new facial for Chicago and that it was developed by an esthetician who works with many celebrities. I absolutely saw a difference on my face. Normally, I would stop reading here too (celebrities, big difference) -- BUT DON' T. I have been getting facials for 22 years and have never felt this good after getting one. Circ Cell lifts and re-trains your facial muscles to reduce sagging. It also massages and drains away puffy areas.... and it lasts. I didn't just look younger while I was lying down, I looked younger the rest of the day and (for those a little younger) probably the next day or so too. I would have never, ever thought a facial could do this, but I am a true believer. I did the 50 minute this time, but will do the 80 minute next time. Went for a birthday massage and booked the 55-minute Signature Massage. The staff was so helpful. Any time someone who worked there walked by they asked me if I was enjoying myself and if I needed anything. I felt so taken care of. My massage was out of this world. Claire is amazing and I would highly recommend. They bend over backwards to make sure you are comfortable. She asked about the pressure of the massage and the temperature of the bed. I loved the eucalyptus essential oil she used before the massage to clear your sinuses. After my massage I went to relaxation room and was treated with champagne and strawberries (sent as a birthday gift from my brother). The facilities are clean and gorgeous. So my bf splurged for my bday and got me a package for a massage, Mani and pedi and I was thrilled! I just started a new job and had a list of other worries on my mind so decided it was time to cash it in. I love massages and have been to some good masseuses, so I guess I was figuring this would be the best-- it is the four seasons after all! Unfortunately i wasn't blown away. I had the 55 min Swedish massage and it felt rushed. I arrived about 30 nibs early and noticed it was 5 after when I was lead to my room. When I was back in the locker room ( already changed, it was only 653... My entire massage was probably only 40 mins! I felt jipped! The mani and pedi was up next and made up for the massage. My lady, anita?, was great! I had the lavender neck pillow (& ended up going out and buying one for home!) and chocolate scrub. She helped me pick out colors and we happily chatted away! Nice but not worth the price. I came here for a day of relaxation, which maybe was my fault coming over the holidays. Upon arrival, the staff was very friendly and set me up in the locker room with a brief tour. The locker room was very small and also used for hotel guests who use the pool and gym. That is probably where my most frustration comes in. There isn't really a nice spot to hang out and relax between treatments. I booked the day for several treatments and had time to kill between each of them. I was hoping to read my book by the pool and relax in a quiet area. This spa does not provide that. The pool area was full of children, as was the locker room. The only other quiet space was the small room where customers wait to be called for their treatment. The treatments themselves were good. I received a mani, pedi, scrub and massage. I wouldn't write home about any of them but I also can't complain. For this being the Four Seasons, I expected something more memorable and relaxing. I think overall this spa is average but with an exceptional price tag. read more

Definitely recommend it here. Everyone is so attentive and welcoming. I did the 80min bamboo massage and it was amazing! One of the best massages I've gotten. They have a pool AND jacuzzi. I purchased a tz for a spa day at the four seasons. I had a fabulous massage, and I cannot believe I am blanking on her name- Stephanie maybe? Regardless she was very attentive, and seemed to love what she does. The facilities were nice, I changed into a robe & slippers and enjoyed the sauna before and after my treatment. I didnt take.advantage of the pool or gym but I did check it out. Seems nice. If they run another promotion id definitely return. read more

Who doesn't expect the Four Seasons to have a nice spa? You won't be disappointed. I called on a Sunday and there were a few same-day open appointments -- convenient. The best part was my masseuse (I think her name was Cara or Kara?). She introduced me to a type of deep-tissue technique that uses slow movement and heat to achieve results. No digging and no pain! I treated myself to a massage and a facial. The facialist was not good at all. She was not educated on any of their products. She was just doing the motions of what was taught to her. She didn't even do a complete analysis of my face nor did she do a good job doing the extractions. My massage therapist I believe her name was Lesee. She did a good job. It was not amazing and I have to return to her but I was pleased. The facility is very old and is maintained well but there are way nicer spas in Chicago. read more
