I made an appointment for The Waldorf Astoria Spa for the first time, and I decided to get myself a 60 minute Silkpeel Facial. I was able to utilize the spa amenities all day, so I decided to come in a couple hours early for ultimate relaxation. I started at their gym, which I really enjoyed. I used the stair master and free weights. There were a few other people using the gym as well, and they had a personal trainer with a client working out as well. I loved that the machines all had water bottles already in the cup holders, along with clean rolled up towel in most of the machines. After getting my sweat on, I quickly changed into my suit to go take a dip in the pool. I absolutely LOVED the pool. I was lucky enough to have it to myself, and it is a great size for doing some laps. Towels are provided in the pool area, and there are even some lounge chairs and a table if you wanted to enjoy lunch. Although I did not want to leave the pool, I decided to check out the Jacuzzi as well before my appointment. I grabbed a citrus water and took a dip in the Jacuzzi. The citrus water was so refreshing and I was lucky enough to get the Jacuzzi to myself. I did notice that the steam room was not available, it was under construction I believe. I was a little bummed about that because I was looking forward to it, but they did have a sauna available as a backup. I took a shower after the Jacuzzi and the rainfall shower head was AMAZING. I did not want to step out, and the shampoo/conditioner and soaps had a lovely smell to them as well. After utilizing the amenities, it was time for my Silk Peel Facial. I got in my robe and headed to the relaxation area, where lounge chairs, blankets, snacks and coconut infused water. I snacked on the dried blueberries/pineapples, and the granola that was available. The coconut infused water was so so delicious and refreshing. Right at the time of my appointment, Nicole came out to show me to the room to start. The facial itself was so relaxing and the heated bed was a nice touch. My esthetician kept me informed each step of the way, and my 60 minutes FLEW by. I could have stayed there all day. The microdermabrasion tool that was used for the SilkPeel was awesome, and a week later my skin still feels so smooth. I also appreciated that Nicole gave me written recommendations on how to better care for my skin, with certain products to look for. When it was time to pay, like another reviewer had mentioned, they do just outright ask if 20% is okay to charge. I definitely was going to give Nicole 20% (and actually round up), but it is just a bit awkward to ask (and in the end she ended up losing a bit more of a tip, since I would have rounded up had I been given the option to write it in on my own). Overall I highly recommend coming to the Waldorf Spa to treat yourself to some 'me-time'. I also suggest anyone to come early so you can fully enjoy alll the amenities offered (and bring a suit!). :)

I received a gift card from my husband for this place and decided to book a 90 minute signature massage at 1:30pm on MLK day. I arrived at 12:15pm and was greeted at the front desk by two young ladies. One of them escorted me toward the locker room, pointing out restrooms, the jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, showers, relaxation room, and finally a locker. She opened several until she found one with a robe and slippers. After placing all my items in that locker I find that the lock wasn't working so I had to transfer all my belongings to the locker next to it. No big deal. I change my clothes, find the citrus water. and head into the relaxation room where there was one other person in there on her phone. I guess the "No cell phone" sign only applies to the locker room area? At least she wasn't distracting. I found a little snack bar, grab a plate of chia sticks, find a comfy lounger, sit down, open the blanket, wrapping it around my legs and tucked in my feet. There was soft music in the background and just the right amount of lighting. I had read somewhere that it's a good idea to warm up the muscles 15 minutes before a massage so I decided to go into the sauna. I sat there thinking it was like being in Las Vegas during the summer and I hate heat. So I thought...maybe I should go into the steam room instead just to sweat out the toxins. So I head in there, not being able to see anything, and when the door closed the smell and steam overwhelmed me. It was a little hard to breath so I stepped out in less than 10 sec. I tried again, but this time I told myself I should stay for at least 5 min. so I walk in, use a towel to breath in and out, and thought...heck no...I'm outta here. I'm so glad no one else was there because that whole ordeal would have been embarrassing! I head back to the relaxation room and wait for my service. A little pass 1:30 my masseuse came to get me. She was friendly and asked me some questions before we got started, which included choosing my preferred scent. The massage itself was just ok. She didn't do the expose and tuck thing a lot masseuses do which I think was fine. I don't think my gluteus maximus was massaged, nor were my hands. My feet got a little bit of a massage but the pressure was very light compared to the pressure given to my back. I admit I did fall asleep a few times so it had to be relaxing, right? The massage ended and when I got up to look at my watch it was exactly 3pm. Talk about spending exactly 90 minutes with a client from lounge to exit. I was given a glass of water and a piece of chocolate. I was then escorted back to the lounge where I laid back down, oily legs and all. As I laid there a worker came in and refolded the blankets on the chairs and I thought...so someone else is going to use the same blanket I just used to wrap my legs and feet. Kinda Gross. So I decided I needed to take a shower and I'm glad I did because that shower head is da bomb. Probably the highlight of the spa. By this time there were a lot more women in the locker room and boy do they talk! It was no longer the quiet serenity it once was a few hours ago so if you book, make it before 3pm. When I left to check out I asked them where the pool was located. I was told it was pass the gym at the end of the hall. I went to check it out and it was just like it looked in the picture, small and narrow. I doubt I'll be back here because the place is way too overpriced. I was told the 20% gratuity is usually added but I could decide whether or not I agreed to it. Although I've had better massages before and never tipped $57, I just ok. Luckily the gift card covered it all. Thanks, Hubby!

A recent weekend trip to Chicago left my wife and I staying at the Waldorf Astoria in Chicago. Pulling up to the hotel, there was not a sea of cars waiting to be driving away by frantic valets. We were able to pull right up to the front door. The staff at the Chicago Waldorf Astoria was wonderful, informed, courteous and empowered. The room was spotless, we were upgraded to a balcony room with fireplace and were very impressed with the craftsmanship, materials and furnishings chosen. We would definitely recommend this hotel. If not for all that it has but for all that it doesn't (crowds, noise, lines, undertrained or disinterested staff, etc). Thank you Chicago Waldorf for a wonderful weekend!

We definitely plan to get lost here for the day and do a little staycation, but not with the accommodations. Enjoying the spa amenities for the day. Now to what I did not enjoy, I did not enjoy the spa having to share, it's pool with the hotel. This is a high price point hotel/ spa experience. I did not appreciate the numerous amount of families that included small children were. The parents absolutely did not discipline, nor attend to their children and their entitled behavior of taking over the entire pool area and even the jacuzzi. I did talk to management whom apologized . But it was very disheartening! This place is too expensive to not have quiet and enjoyable experience from start to finish. I received 20 percent off for my trouble. Also the gratuity is added which is more than 20 percent. But you can ask to customize your own amount. Suggest going during the week for a quite experience!

There are a variety of services to choose from, but the various baths of different temperatures and salt engage the senses like no other. It's co-ed, and you can move between baths at your leisure. There's even a semi-outdoor waterfall bath. The variety is wonderful. There's a salt shower area that you could rub salt on yourself which feels wonderful. I really enjoyed the sauna which had an aromatherapy component to it and a cold plunge inside. I didn't think I could do it, but the hot temps made it easier to get into the cold water. Service here is splendid, and reservations need to be made so that over-crowding doesn't happen. This makes the experience of coming here much more enjoyable. There is staff around so if you have any questions, that can be answered. The locker rooms are clean. Within this locker room, there are showers available and there is also an area provided to get ready AFTER the services are complete. It has hair dryers and spray deodorant and I think lotions. They do provide "wet slippers". They fit like no show socks so there's no need for any kind of flip flop type shoe to protect your feet. I have no review for the men's locker room cuz... Well. I'm not a man. BUT my husband had no complaints. When ready, you meet your partner and go to the "bath" area. They have all kinds of hot tubs and steams rooms and cold plunges and just yeah. It's pretty cool. You hang your robe and in you go. There is also a juice bar and the juices are delicious. Again, there is plenty of staff to assist with any questions you may have. If you booked a massage, and, of course, why not? They will let you know when it's time. You go upstairs and get the best massage of your life. I had a female masseuse and my husband had a male one. Once done, back into the locker room to get ready for the rest of your day/evening. It was a pleasant experience. It was also quite pricey. This was gifted to me and my man. Not sure if we would have extra funds to splurge within our own budget. This is downtown Chicago. Parking is NOT provided. Although they do offer valet.

This time, I decided to schedule a mani & pedi at the end of my week stay as an added treat. When I tell you that I was shocked by my experience here, I mean it. There was nothing luxurious about this at all. And these are absolute top-tier prices for their services. They took me down the stairs after I checked in and I waited in this dark area as people were randomly walking back and forth from the pool area. A woman escorted me into this insanely small room (it looks like a closet) where there were 2 pedicure chairs right next to each other then 2 manicure stations across from that. I truly was shocked. I wanted to leave. Their website and spa detail information is so insanely misleading. This small room they cram you into has no windows, and is at the end of a dark hall. Forget that we are still dealing with the pandemic and there is zero social distancing. The two nail techs that were working were lovely but so obviously under appreciated & overworked. Which is beyond sad. My pedicure was ok but my manicure was the worst I've ever received. I wanted a French tip and the tech haphazardly painted each tip with a regular brush. Not one was the same. I also walked out and came right back to get some nail polish remover to clean up my own hands as I had white polish all over my skin. Just insane. The receptionist was appalled when I showed her my nails so she said she would take it off my bill ($65) was removed but I still paid over $150 plus tip for my mani and pedi. In my personal option, they should close down the manicure and pedicure options of the spa. It is not a luxury, high end experience. Quite the opposite. This was not a great way to end our stay here & it put such a bad taste in my mouth. I won't ever come back to the spa for any service at all.
