4.5 Nice to chillax out in the Coconut bar pool and spa area (only available in the summer months) for an hour before steaming up in the steam room and sauna inside before my massage/facial. My only wish is for the pool/spa to be indoors year round, big wish i know! I love the hydro-shower! Omg, you get sprayed from the top, left, right sides and front! Drought in Cali? Forget about it! I'm getting this full on blast while showering here, it's the best! The facility's always clean and well-stocked. Kudos to the little things like q-tips, makeup remover, brushes, blow dryers, sunscreen, etc. Only thing I missed was a bathing suit dryer and plastic bags. They do provide a nice sized tote bag but that doesn't keep the wet bathing suits from dripping. It's a give and take, other spas have it but don't have other things. I visited the Thunder Valley Spa recently... the woman at the front desk, Linsey was very kind and alert to when my appointment started and showed me to the men's changing room in time for me to be ready for my appointment without having to wait for the attendant. The facility was great! Very clean, high tech locker room, and a toasty steam room. My massage from Ming was excellent! She worked out all the knots in my neck and shoulders. We requested a standard and a deluxe pedicure, although I didn't notice much difference in the two pedicures (I got a standard and my sister received deluxe), the service and pedi's were wonderful. Near the end, I noticed my sister received an oil with her massage, whereas mine was a lotion. Other than that, I wish I could share the difference in the two, so maybe save some money and enjoy a wonderful standard pedi. I can't say that I had a super memorable massage here at the SPA at Thunder Valley. Services here are most definitely on the pricier side and you are paying for it this spa being in a well known casino. The hubby and I had a gift card for couples massages which also included use of the sauna and steam room in our respective restrooms, they are sex specific and not shared. My massage bed warmer never got to a temperature that was warm and relaxing. I had to tell my therapist to apply more pressure, multiple times since I opted for deep tissue. After this experience and for the (overpriced) cost of services, I can't say I would recommend this spa for future services. ....There are other massage places in the Sacramento area I would highly recommend. read more

One of the best massages I've ever had! My masseuse massaged my lower back, neck and shoulder areas. It relieved a lot of tension and got rid of some knots. The way she did it is something I've never had before, but can easily be done the next time I get one and to show any other masseuse how to best relieve the tension in that area. It was relaxing and just what I needed! I came early in the morning and no one else was there. It was quiet and very serene. I think the o my thing I didn't like was the smoke coming in from the casino, but other than that, best experience ever. My friend and I came for massages last week, and had a bad experience due to some miscommunications behind the desk. When we arrived we were greeted warmly, our massages were confirmed, and we were escorted to the relaxation waiting area. My friend had planned this day and been here before and asked about the option of Champagne or wine which is included with the massage. After asking we were able to get some and it was lovely. Others that had been waiting heard us ask, and then also asked and got some so be sure to mention it if it's not offered to you. We got there early and waited comfortably while chatting in the waiting room. I was called back first and left for my massage. Somehow when I got back to the waiting room, my friend was still waiting. She explained she hadn't been called back and had asked about her massage several times. Later we found out that they had put both massages under my name and had extended my massage with her time. We were confused about how that could have happened, given at check in we had clarified our times and that we were both getting massages. I later learned the front desk had put that in the "notes" of the calendar invites that help the masseuse know how long to go but she later learned that they can't see the notes and that is how this happened. We asked to speak to the manager and get my friend in at another time, and were offered a time over two hours later. We shared that wouldn't work, and were told that was all they could do. They took no responsibility for the error and acted like we should have known this was happening. (How??) We asked for a credit for my friend to visit another time and were told that could not be done. The tone and lack of remorse was disappointing. My friend left after having waited in the waiting room for over an hour with no massage, and we were still asked to pay for both massages "to be fair to the masseuse". In the end we got 20% off, but were disappointed they didn't try to improve her experience. read more

My boyfriend and I frequent the spa often for the mid-week specials that they offer and we have never been disappointed! All the therapists are INCREDIBLE and offer their own style/routine, which encourages us to keep coming back because it's always new. I have had both male and female therapists, and trust me, it is never uncomfortable. Vanessa is always my go-to for a very relaxing Swedish massage, but if I've done some muscle pulling, lol, I have to recommend Frank/Kang....that guy is so strong and just resets my shoulders everything! My boyfriend's favorite therapist is Matt because he is very attentive and also has strong hands. Mind you, my boyfriend is 6'5 and over 200lbs, that is a compliment!!! Never uncomfortable either, he says Matt's a super cool dude that really knows what he's doing so it's not that awkward guy massaging guy thing that some male guests might fret about (you know how some guys get, lol) The concierge is always kind and check in is a breeze and the spa attendants are always so nice and helpful and will take your order promptly. Overall, this spa is clean, the therapists are all so knowledgeable (actually, thunder valley provides them with continuing education and training according to a receptionist, which is awesome) and we always feel safe, valued and comfortable while having our couples time at Thunder Valley. Oh! And don't forget to explore the spa locker room! The sauna is sooooo comfy and loosens all your muscles before the massage, and the eucalyptus steam room is a little room of paradise!!!! This is the most expensive manicure I've ever had to pay, while i enjoyed the company of my nail technician, the product used on me was so bad and probably cheap that's why the colors itself came off one by one shortly after I left. I was there at 5pm and finished at 6pm, by 7 pm after playing roulette, the first color came off and by the time Janet Jackson's concert started at 8pm, ALL my blue colors came off. I spoke with the hotel manager before I left last night. He said "I don't know anything about nails but those don't look right". He said he will have a manager from the spa to call me today. I've paid $40 for a manicure here in tracy and they last more than 24 hours at least. I literally threw away $90 plus tax. read more

I called 2 weeks in advance for 2 massages and pedicure for the mid-week special. We heard good things about the spa and wanted to give it a try. It was going to be a mother daughter day. I explained my daughter was coming home from college for spring break. I wanted to spend some quality time together. She was so excited! Not once did the receptionist tell me that you have to be over 21, ( my daughter is 20) when I booked my appointment. Not even on the site it states you have to be over 21 for the spa services. It stated under 21 needs to be accompanied by an adult on homepage. Which she was! Once we checked in, the receptionist said you look young. How old are you? They refused to give my daughter her services. I will never go back and the would not accommodate. I never heard such a ridiculous rule. We felt they were discriminating, and very rude!!!! read more

Every time I visit a casino resort, I try to book a massage. I was able to book one for a morning appointment on my birthday while staying there, if you have a players card there are discounts too. I booked their season 50 minute special that I think was a scent massage. I think my masseuse's name was Joyce and she was very professional and was very attentive. They recommend going there a little earlier to enjoy the facilities. I try to go to the steam room before my massages. It's a smaller facility but it has some pretty good amenities but unfortunately no indoor jacuzzi or pools, only outside with the pool. Unfortunately, after moving to West Roseville from the Bay Area, we have not been able to find comparable salon offerings so we attempted to try The Spa At Thunder Valley as we live only a few miles away. I received a call yesterday, 9/12/23 to confirm and remind of the 24 the cancellation fee for myself and my husbands pedicures scheduled after our work. Today, 9/13/23 at noon, I received a call from the location manager advising that the nail tech who was to complete my husband's pedicure had a previously scheduled appointment and has to leave early. She advised that the appointment made last week was not to have been scheduled and the tech's time was to have been blocked off. She offered a massage instead. (She did not indicate that the massage would be at the same price-) she offered to have us come at 3pm instead of 4:30 for our 5pm appointment. Obviously because we both have jobs it would be the reason we scheduled 5pm when they close at 7pm. I requested not to be charged for a cancellation and said that the whole point of couples having their pedicures together -- as is the point of an appointment- is to be together. What happened to a "Spa" having more than one nail tech. Sounds like more than a scheduling issues. Very disappointing so we will never be able to try the Spa. Regretfully, I would have selected it to replace all of my facial and spa treatments since Nordstrom SF closed. This is why I drive two hours to have my hair done as well. Very unfortunate and glad others had a nice experience. I have sent my complaint to Thunder Valley as well because we also lost our "Slot Play Time" today since we aren't going to the Spa. 9/14/23- UPDATE. I am updating my review from one star because the Spa Manager reached out to me with acknowledgment and understanding of the situation which is so rare of people to do these days. We need more professionals like the Manager at this location. A BREAK FROM GAMBLING Usually when I go to Thunder Valley I go there to gamble. After several visits I noticed there was massage facility in Thunder Valley. I decided to go to Thunder Valley on Sunday mainly to get a message at the Spa. The day before I called the Spa at Thunder Valley if the there was an availability for a deep tissue massage. There was a 50-minute slot at 1:00 PM. Most of massage facilities I've been to aren't located in a spa where there are showers or steam rooms available. The last time I got a massage at a spa was in Caesars Palace Las Vegas in 2017. Due to the amenities a massage at a spa is more expensive than at a massage facility. This spa includes two types of steam room - a dry steam room and eucalyptus steam room. In addition there are several shower stalls. One specific shower stall has a rainfall showerhead on the top of the ceiling and sides. How was massage? I really liked the massage. My massage therapist Joyce targeted the knots of my shoulders, traps, and neck. The therapy was a relaxing session. You know when you have good massage is when you start falling asleep and I did. After the massage Joyce recommended that I should go to one of the steam rooms. I decided to go to the eucalyptus steam room. Not only did sitting in this steam room made me sweat but also it helped me relax. After sitting in the steam room for 15 minutes I decided to go to take a shower at the stall with the rainfall showerhead. Reveling in the shower stall with the water from the top and sides helps you calm down after a potential intense deep tissue massage session. After my experience at the Spa I felt more relaxed than before I arrived at Thunder Valley. If I only paid for the massage I wouldn't give this rating this high. However since the massage included the use of the amenities of the spa the price I paid for the 50-minute massage was worth it. If you plan to visit Thunder Valley and want to relax before you gamble or decide not to gamble I recommend making a reservation at the Spa at Thunder Valley not only for the massage but also for the amenities that include the shower and steam room. read more

Total relaxation. 3 of us had the two 80 and one 60 mintues Swedish massages. They were fabulous. I loved the rain shower. We did the steam room and sauna. Everything was clean. They have all that would be needed you only need to bring yourself and a swimsuit if your using the jacuzzi or pool. Separate areas for men and women except the jacuzzi or swimming pool. We did not use them. Our robes provided were so luxurious and soft, flip flops provided. Lockers are provided. Seriously you deserve this type of pampering. read more

I am was really impressed with the customer service they provided us today. We got stuck in traffic for 2 extra hours and called twice to have them move our time. The manager went above and beyond the call of service. She made sure we got in and even wished us safe travels and not to stress. We got there, and we were scooped in and taken care of. As for Ms. Pamela, who took care of all the guests, was very attentive and lovely. It was worth the drive and I would definitely come back.
