WORST EXPERIENCE I have had at a nail salon ever!!! I never in my life have taken the time to give a place a bad review but this nail salon did such a poor job that I felt the need to WARN others not waste their time and money. The lady that did my nails was totally inexperienced and took almost 2 hours to do simple gel. I had to give her tons of directions cause she had no clue what she was doing!! They also charge me double what it would cost at any other salon. Than to top things off 3 days later guess what, my nails are chipping! I'm so disappointed that with all the other good places in NY city I ended up at this one... PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! read more

Spa Bene was such a great experience. I helped to organize a friend's bachelorette and booked 7 manicures and pedicures plus a massage. They accommodated us and the service was excellent. All of the amenities are extremely clean and well taken care of. Not only did they take care of our entire party nicely, they also had set up the outside patio for us so that we could bring rosé and enjoy outside. Overall, great service and great experience. I dropped into Spa Bene for a massage to relieve the pain from an exercise-related knee and IT band injury. Kim, the masseur, provided what he called a "medical" deep tissue massage and it was amazing! This massage style is intense--it goes deep into injured tissue--but I immediately felt better. He also made sure to work the side opposite to the injury. I will return! The whole space is beautiful and clean. Highly recommended! read more

I stopped going to the nail shop "Spa Bene" on Columbus between 82nd and 83rd. Here's why: The women there always did a perfect job on my mani/pedis. They were sweet and kind and doted over me. They asked about my parents, and if I spoke Japanese (I'm Japanese). They asked a zillion questions about my boyfriend and thought it so great that he was a doctor. THEN one day I brought my smiling, happy-go-lucky boyfriend there for a pedicure and the women scowled at me instead of smiling, acted as if I'd never been there before, did a sloppy job on my nails, and rushed me out the door. It didn't matter that I was a regular, that I tip good, and it was no longer interesting to those ladies who my boyfriend was or how he treats me - all of that went out of the window when they saw that he's black. It was so obvious what had just happened and it made me sick to my stomach. I will never ever go to this shop again. read more

I absolutely love this place. I have always had very nice treatment here, but yesterday I hung my new coat up and when I went back for it, it was gone, another coat in it's place. So either it was a mistake or it was theft. Be careful when hanging your coat here. I suggest keeping your coat with you. I was quite upset. The coat was only two weeks old and I loved it. There is still a chance it will be returned but as time goes on it is unlikely. My keys were in the pocket too...so just a very upsetting situation. Suzanne read more

I have been to Spa Bene a twice since it opened and have had my nails done and a massage. Compared to the other nail salons in the area this place is definitely the best. Considerably cleaner than any other option in the area, great selection of polish, new massage chairs, etc. Nail technicians are efficient and friendly. Would also recommend trying the massage. The space is also really nice - lots of natural light, which was surprising. The prices are a little higher than some other spots nearby, but given the overall quality and experience I would definitely recommend! read more

I really liked the place, it was clean and the staff was friendly.. but my GEL manicure only lasted 2 days.. I asked for 3 coats because my nails break extremely easily, the girl argued a bit and then gave me a VERY thin third coat.. as soon as I was mid-shift at my restaurant the very next day I had 2 nails break. I spend a lot of money on gel.. so it lasts me 2-3 weeks.. not one day.. very disappointed read more

So happy to find a local nail place with a relaxing, clean, non-rushed atmosphere. I would rather pay more for a pedicure (and go less), and truly enjoy the experience. My toes look amazing. I did the Zen Sole pedicure and it was super relaxing. I also opted to get a chair massage, but I would pass on that next time, it was just okay. But, everything else was worth it! read more

Spa Bene isn't your typical, slighty dirty and cheap nail salon. Spa Bene has a beautiful, clean interior with lots of nail polish color options, brand new massage chairs and a staff that really knows what they're doing. If those are valuable to you, I would recommend Spa Bene. If not, there are plenty of other options in the UWS. read more

Spa Bene is wonderful. If you want a pedicure, Joan and Sally are the best. Totally worth the extra $10 you may spend at the other places in the area. It is very clean, nice, friendly, and a great addition the the UWS. IMO, the best place to get a pedicure. They also have other services I have not tried, but regardless if you want a foot massage or any other treatment, Spa Bene has excellent customer service and I wish the business great success! read more

Dropped by the other day for a mani pedi and it was awesome. Spa Bene has such a clean interior and incredibly peaceful atmosphere- loved the calming music and the brand new massage chairs. The workers are friendly and Gina, who did my nails, was a pleasure to talk to. They use clean nail clippers, files, etc. every time - a fresh new kit is opened right in front of you. And I'm not sure what lotion or scrub they use to massage but my feet + legs were so smooth after. After my mani pedi they sat me down to dry my nails - the seats were super comfy and there were plenty of magazines to read- a random worker even came up to me and put on an oil that helped dry my nails in 2-3 minutes. Overall, pleasant experience. Perhaps next time I'll go to their outside area (very zennish feel to it) if it was a little less hot out. read more

Bottom line: Quality massage for a good price at a clean facility with friendly staff. $40 for their basic 30 minute "relaxation massage." I dropped by here the other day without apartment when my back was feeling soar. They took me right on the spot. The members of staff were all very nice. And I liked that the masseuse was communicative during the massage (without being annoying). She made sure to ask me how much pressure a couple of times as we started and then just let me relax the rest of the time. For women who normally go to spas and are use to a spa experience, just be aware that this is not that. The ladies who answer the phone and work the front desk are all Asian and do not speak great English. Being part Asian I'm comfortable with that but it's difficult to communicate your requests and ensure they understand. The first floor is a nail salon and the downstairs are where they do the massages. If you ask for anything less than a one hour massage, they will put you onto a massage chair in the open, of which there is one upstairs and one downstairs. It appears they only have male massage therapists and the Asian style massage may not be what you experience at other massage salons. It cost $125 for a one hour deep tissue which was kind of pricey without the nice salon experience. read more

I went here for a pedicure and waiting a long time for someone to tend to me then when I finally got someone she did a mediocre job. Also the ambience was just not relaxing and the customer service was lousy. For the dame price I much prefer Avanti nail salon on 86th and Columbus. read more

This is the best Spa by far in this area. Use Andy for massage and Ann for a mani pedi. He loves his craft and can change how you feel in a 15 minute session. She does work that will last you more than a few days. read more

I visited Spa Bene late summer of 2014 and it was a beautiful, brand new nail spa. The place is clean and quiet. Love that. The woman who did my pedicure was efficient and polish job was good. It's more expensive than your average nail place, but they are very clean and the ambiance is really relaxing. I like this place and will be going back for sure. read more

Went to the UWS location today. Being a Friday in the summer, I knew it would be busy so I called and made an appt for 330. The c train was awful so I was a little late but when I got there I apologized and the lady who greeted me told me to just wait a minute, so I did so happily! I stood there for 10 mins and then she walked over and told me "omg I'm so sorry I forgot and sat that lady first but you had an appt! And I said not to worry, it happens I'm in no rush!" I was then told to sit and wait and waited another 5 mins w no issue. Upon sitting down, it became apparent that the regulars were getting a lengthy and thorough massage and I was being quickly rushed out being a new customer. I paid $40 for a pedicure and was out in 20 mins max and hardly had any foot or leg massage. I've never left a review for anywhere but I am infuriated. Prior to this, I googled best pedi UWS and this came up so I figured I'd trek there and pay the upscale price for a "fantastic" pedicure complete with a fabulous massage. I left with neither. I will not be returning. I know more is owed to regulars but new customers should receive the same or at least minimally comparable service as regulars, Espesh for a $40 pedicure. I was in misery with back pain and , though I had never gotten a massage from a man before, when they pointed me to Andy (his American name) I said, "please help me". He was fantastic. Caring, focused and very highly skilled, he pulled my pinned scapula away from my muscles and gave an incredibly skillful massage. Not too intense but very firm. It was clean with nice massage chairs, and I didn't feel rushed even though the place was busy.
