This place is such a hidden gem. They do a really great job. It's peaceful, not a lot of chatting and serene music. Great massages with pedicure package. An array of color options. Great experience. $62.50 included a regular manicure, spa pedicure and tax. The spa pedicure includes a 15 moon massage in addition to all the other spa pedicure stuff. I happen to go on a day where they gave an additional 10 min so I got a 25 min massage which was really good. She focused on my feet and not just my legs which is what a lot of places do. She also paid a lot of attention to detail which was really nice. All COVID protocols in place including temperature checks, hand sanitizer, plexi glass and spray sanitizing. read more

I just moved to this neighborhood, and I'm very happy to have found a nail shop that I like very much today. The shop has a nice environment, and the staff are very friendly. The girl made me a brand new set of fake nails. It must look beautiful. The price is also reasonable. I like this store very much. Hope to bring my friends to this store next time. read more

I like this place. Friendly people and good straightforward service. Definitely not frilly or fru fru, but they had a pretty good selection os Essie and OPI colors. They could have been a bit more thorough on my nails, but they didn't leave that annoying strip on the side of each nail where they can't be bothered to pull my skin tight and do it properly. I liked how did my hands a lot, but they could have done a little better of a better job on my feet, toes were excellent, but my feet are beat up as hell, so I like a bit of scrubbing and elbow work. Oh well, no complaints, if I'm in the area I may go back here, but only if I've had a recent pedi and my feet don't need too much hard work. read more

This place gave me the worse manicure i've ever had in my lfife. First the lady didn't take my old polish off, then she had the nerve to tell me not to look at the crappy painting job that she gave me. The coats were uneven and I had to ask her to repaint all the sides of my nails because they weren't fully covered. My 8 year old sister could of done a better job on my nails. I advise you to come here if you want to get ripped off and have ugly nails. read more

I truly enjoyed my mani and pedi here. I had the milk and honey treatment which left my beat up feet feeling super soft and looking even better. The massage portion on my feet was a little rough which is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. The staff was very friendly- my friend and I didn't have to wait at all. We did have appointments though so I would recommend having one rather than walking in. They have a wonderful selection of Essie and OPI nail polish. The pedicure lasted a good 40 mins to an hour which was just bliss for my feet in need of TLC. Seriously, my feet look like new. The manicure was equally relaxing as they massage your hands and have someone massage your neck and shoulders at the same time. This guy got out the kink in my neck that I'd had for a week. SO awesome. My nails look amazing, my hands and feet are incredibly soft, my knots in my shoulders are gone. I'll be back. It's worth the trip to the UWS for sure. read more

I should have listened to the other Yelp reviews. Went for a mani/pedi yesterday. Hadn't had a pedi in months and was looking forward to it. The manicurist was pleasant, but immediately I noticed that she was overly harsh as she started cleaning. Still, I was focused on relaxing and finally having beautiful toes. All was fine until I got home several hours later and noticed that she'd scraped the skin off the side of my foot. Now, it's raw and exposed and stings when I walk. I've covered the affected area with a band-aid and though I know it will heal in a few days, it has ruined what might have been an otherwise decent mani/pedi. read more

I have been going to Lux since it has opened and June and her staff are always kind and attentive. June also gives an incredible facial which one would typically not associate with a nail salon. Lux is peaceful, clean and friendly. With so much competition in this neighborhood, it is a standout. I am surprised at the other posting, not that it couldn't have happened, but she should have just asked about timing to manage her own expectations. I seldom see anyone wait more than 5-10 minutes. read more

I have mixed feelings about Lux but gave it 3 stars based on: Stuff I really like: -- Facials. I have gotten 2 amazing facials here. After coming back from 10 days at the beach with icky dry, peeling skin, I got the Collagen facial. I don't know the name of the woman who did it for me, unfortunately. I think she is out on maternity leave right now. Anyway it was a wonderful 90 minute facial and I added on a 20 minute back and neck massage while I had the mask on. Amazing. And not ridiculously expensive. I feel like you're going to pay $120-200 for a good facial anywhere. But not a 90 minute one with a 20 minute massage. I went back when the weather got hot and my skin was oily and breaking out. I had a facial with what I think was called an Ecco mask (?). Again, added on the 20 minutes. It was wonderful yet again. Cece did my facial the second time, and I wish I could go all the time!! I am not sure if there is a thing where facials are cheaper some days that others... I seem to always go on Monday or Tuesday. -- Gel manicures. They don't rough up/file the tops of your nails as much as some places. This practice (too much filing) in particular keeps me from getting a lot of gel manicures, even though I can't keep a regular manicure for more than 3 days it seems. But I will get gels done here, because I don't feel like they compromise my nail health in the process. They also carry OPI gel as well as a larger selection of Shellac colors than most places. Things I am not so much of a fan of: -- They will argue with you about how much tip you give. I was put off by this and a little upset after a very relaxing afternoon, but she really was right... I was jipping her on tip (has to be cash and I didn't have any more with me). I brought her more cash later when I was out walking my dog. I wonder how much they actually get paid for their work, and if they have to rely on tips more than nail techs at other places? -- The pedicures are OK. I haven't gone for the "express" deal - mani/pedi for $20 Mon-Wed - I keep hoping that the "spa" pedicures will be better. They're not cheap, even though you get 20% off some of them Mon-Wed. For the price, though, they could be better. The 15 minute massage definitely helps though. -- The man who works there actually does very good massage (they have chair massages as well). But when you're getting your manicure, he comes over and starts to massage your shoulders and then asks if you want a massage (which he will do while you sit there getting your nails done). I have taken him up on this a couple of times, but in general I find that the practice of the only man there coming up and touching the customers to be weird and could be very off-putting to people. I ventured away from Pinky and Dashing Diva to give this nail establishment a go. Looks can be deceiving as this place looked lovely on the inside and out but not the case. NONE of the nail technicians speak English. Not even a teenie tiny bit of English. The "nail technician" who did my pedicure had no way of communicating with me so instead of telling me to put my feet back in the water she would tap/hit my foot (sometimes harshly) and shoo me. Like I am supposed to have ESP and know what a slap on the foot means! The "nail technicians" (I saw one state certificate) talk smack about their customers (in their language) and roll their eyes while giving them a massage and the unsuspecting customers heads are down (slap! I guess sometimes a slap means straighten your leg...Yes, I am writing this review while I am in the pedicure chair, relaxing eh). Oh and as an added bonus for your $55 pedicure (20% off discount) the "nail technician" did a leg massage including oil and latex gloves (thank God it wasn't a condom). My polish is all over the place and on my cuticles and toes and I will be returning home to fix them. I opted out on the manicure as I don't like to be slapped/hit during a treatment that is supposed to be relaxing. Oh, and a warning....if you do choose to go here (I do not recommend this) you better tip well as I got attitude (not in English, of course) for a $5 tip on a terrible pedicure. read more
