What a perfect experience! Started off having an easy time parking with the complimentary valet who was kind and directed me to where the spa is. When I entered the lobby I had a seamless warm experience with the receptionist and got my sandals to then enter the women's room. I enjoyed the overhead shower, the nice quiet changing area, and the steam room which helped me relax more before going to the quiet area to wait for my massage. I now realize I should have gone for the 60min massage however the mini 30min massage is perfect and my masseuse, Linda, was phenomenal! She was a perfect blend of massaging needed areas a bit firmer than other areas and gave me a perfect well rounded massage that left me feeling significantly lighter and refreshed. My body feels so great that I will be remembering her for future visits! The sparkling wine after was a nice touch to relax with and I also enjoyed a cup of tea. Overall this was a superb experience and Spa Cerro is a place I am going to recommend to other local friends to go to when they need to relax and feel better. I can be pretty much a spa snob in this area I live at. I have experienced a few high end luxury spas and this categorizes itself as it, but sadly it was very subpar. 3 stars only bc I wish I could give it 5 for my massage therapist Alejandra , she was good at what she does. This rating comes with everything else ; service , the very limited amenities, added fees for pool, no champagne . The bathroom is tiny, there's absolutely nothing to get ready with except for dry shampoo , deodorant. No blow dryer ? There's one shower. Yes one shower and yet multiple massage rooms ? Hmmm. So you have to basically wait to use it. There's a steam room and that's it. There's a poolside with a fee not included to the amenities of $45 weekend and $25 for weekdays. Even if there's a "package", for pool access and champagne -that's the first I had ever experienced that and thats off-putting. Parking is complimentary valet. I had to drive my car out when I left. Granted it was 3 cars down from their desk. However it's my birthday and it's suppose to be a luxury place? I don't feel like doing the valet for myself. Another note , on the forms , it asks what's the occasion or notes. I had wrote it was my birthday. Just as the previous reviews - they obviously don't read it but there was nothing special for it. Especially for spending $246 for a massage. Their lounge room is a bunch of chairs with audio ocean with bubbles on the wall- that was the only modern look to it. However, the first luxury spa without a glass of champagne offered. Why request it, aren't we all there to relax. It should be offered as most spas do. I gave this place a shot and it didn't give at all for the overall. However again, great massage with Alejandra , but overall everything else was mediocre. (And that's kindly putting it. Mediocre) Oh and gratuity is included ! 20% to the price of the massage so either you didn't like the massage or whatever reason - you're already paying the tip. So overall , amenities , valet, no champagne , no pool /hot tub, one shower , no greeting on birthday (don't expect doing a birthday here ) , I don't think I could fully recommend this place. read more

I had a HORRIBLE experience here. The facialist left the steamer directly near my arm, and when I shifted slightly my arm went directly against the steamer. My eyes were covered, so I had no idea it was on and directly near my body. I sustained a second-degree burn on my arm. (Photo of my arm attached for proof.) The facialist offered burn cream (not correct protocol for a severe burn). The staff acted shocked that I wanted a refund. The front desk receptionist acted like I should have known better, implied that I was at fault for being burned, and called a SECOND-DEGREE BURN an "inconvenience". I was told that I would receive a call from management, though of course I did not. Photos are from directly after and five days later. Please be careful choosing to spend your relaxation time and money here. read more

I went to Spa Cerro to relax and recover after a physically strenuous couple of days. Hoping to relax in the spa and have a massage. The problem was there was no hot tub to soak my sore muscles and get ready for the massage. A spa with no hot tub? That's a first for me. There was a steam room which was nice, but not the same. The confirmation text I received noted that I would be welcome to come 30 minutes before my scheduled service so I felt like I didn't have much time to enjoy the spa before my massage. Also, there was only one shower in the women's locker room even though it seems like there were 8-10 massage rooms? The massage was okay, not great. The table was warm and comfortable though. I was in town for a couple days and thought I'd have a spa day. Not being from the area, I had trouble pulling into valet because of the one way streets. I parked with valet as the spa had mentioned it was free and valet said the spa shouldn't be saying that as priority is given to hotel guests. Spa staff 10/10 - the front desk was kind, especially since I was a few min late from getting turned around and the discussion I had with the valet. Ashley was my service provider for the treatment and she was very nice and made sure I had what I needed. Spa 8/10 - it has a boutique feel, with great items to retail. The amenities that were available were decent. It only had a sauna which was average and the quiet area to read and relax. Pool access for a non guest was an additional $25. They charge you up front and add gratuity so I forgot to redeem the $10 off on Yelp. There were reading lights and blankets but none of the seats reclined so I didn't sit there for long. The ambiance was great, there was always fresh water, fruit, nuts, and tea available. Service 7/10 - I had the 100 min organic French green clay & seaweed wrap. I'll leave a screen grab of the service description below. I thought the aromatherapy foot bath to start was nice. I just wish they filled it so water covered my ankles at least. I'm 5'5 and my feet dangled which is fine but the water level wasn't completely filled. My fault for not asking for more water or hotter water but other that that the foot treatment was amazing. We then moved to the first treatment table and began the service but it was so cold i clenched my hands throughout this portion of the service to try to be warmer. I was told this service was about detoxing impurities but the body wrap wasn't on long enough for me to sweat. When I brought the lack of heat for the sweat detox up to Ashley, she said it was probably the peppermint she put on me. No where in the description does it say peppermint is applied to the body. Only in the foot bath. putting something on the body that makes the body cold completely counters the detox and thermal wrap they put on you. While the wrap is on, a cold roller was massaged all over my face. In hindsight, I rather have not had that. It amplified the cold I was experiencing and Ashley was so strong, I swear she was squeezing and detoxing the Botox from my forehead. Lol. I was completely unimpressed. After the wrap, they have you do the chromatherapy shower. Lol. I'm sorry, that's just a colored light setting with an amazing shower. Then the end of the treatment was on the other table, Ashely was able to crank the bed warmer all the way up and layered me with blankets and I received a great mini massage where I started to fall asleep with some foot reflexology. I woke up quickly after the foot reflexology and it was actually painful from her nails dragging along my foot. I loved Ashley though so I feel bad writing this. Pool area and restaurant bar 4/10 - where do I begin? While they have menus for all the seating, you do need to go to the bar to order drinks and food. I had trouble ordering from the bartender. It seemed like he wasn't all with it at the time. I asked for food recommendations and he suggested the empanadas. I said great! He doesn't add it to the bill. Then I asked for a local beer suggestion and he suggested a cocktail. I think, maybe he doesn't hear me so I spoke louder to clarify. He hands me the drink and the bill and forgot the food item after we had a 5 min talk about it and he had trouble ringing it up. I guess it was a new menu item? But I highly recommend the empanadas. They were very small but good. Talking to other guests, apparently the bartender who I heard him tell guests he was blind, was sent home. He recently had a head injury. Overall- I was so excited about Spa Cerro and thought maybe for my next visit, I'd stay at the hotel but I feel like it was incredibly underwhelming. I think they have a lot of growing to do for the prices they are charging. I def won't be going back to the spa and will not be staying at the hotel, ever. Speaking with locals who utilize the pool often, t said they hotel is often a hit or miss. It makes sense after my day ended and watching every pool guest complain that food and drinks, even the salad, wasn't coming out in a timely manner. read more

She is professional, experienced, kind, attuned, present, & intuitive in her work. The massage is personalized to fit the needs of the client, e.g. amount of pressure, problem areas, etc. It was the best experience with a massage that I've ever had, and I have had many. As she worked on me it was easy to stay present & in the moment, so that I would not miss how great the massage felt :) I left there with so much appreciation! I normally don't post reviews, but I had the most incredible experience at Spa Cerro with a friend while on a quick trip to SLO! So much appreciation for Heidi at the front desk who was able to squeeze my friend and I in at the last minute. Even though we had our appointments close to the closing time, we were not rushed at all. PRICING: 5/5 While searching for reasonably priced massages with amenities around SLO, I stumbled upon Spa Cerro who was offering a great special for a 60 minute Swedish massage. The special was even more worth it considering spa guests have access to the hotel's pool area in addition to the steam room, showers (saw a previous review saying there were no hair dryers, but in fact there were 2 in a drawer near by the sink, so I definitely didn't leave with wet hair), and relaxation room. AMBIANCE: 5/5 Extremely relaxing and soothing. The facilities were very clean and the lighting and music made it super easy to unwind. MASSAGE: 5/5 Prior to my massage, my massage therapist took some time to ask me which areas I wanted to be given extra attention and checked to see how tense those areas were. I appreciated the extra attention to my concerns during the massage! The amount of pressure used was perfect for me since I have a very tender/sore back after working remotely. After my massage I think I was in a daze because of how relaxed I was. Probably the best massage I've ever had! The setting is so serene and peaceful. You can start up on the deck with a beverage before your massage and then do the steam room after that smells like eucalyptus. Pure bliss! I have had massages from Ashley and Alejandra and they were both amazing! They are so thorough with your trouble spots and are warm and welcoming. It's so relaxing, you will not want to leave. Went to Cerro Spa for my Birthday and was immediately greeted by the Spa manager and director, Michele. Who was delightful and made sure I had everything I needed to begin my Spa journey. The atmosphere is tranquil, soothing and more relaxing then any other Spa I have ever visited. They have Tea, water and healthy snacks to nibble on while you relax and gaze in the tranquility of bubbling waterfalls and a cozy fireplace. My Massage therapist, Christian, was extremely attentive. I was suffering from severe neck pain and she spent a lot of time helping to ease the tight and stiffness that I had been dealing with for a several weeks. She was one of the best massage therapist I have ever experienced. When my journey was over with the massage, I relaxed in the steam room and showered in the luxury showers. The robes are thick and cozy. They have everything in the woman's dressing room that you could possibly need. The entire Spa is sparkling clean.
