Robert is one of the most impressive massage therapists I've ever experienced. I got the 90 minute deep tissue massage and Robert used the perfect amount of force throughout the massage. I used their website to book an appointment and got a call the next day to confirm the appointment and was given the details of the logistics for arriving. I was offered water, tea, or champagne upon arrival and after filling out a single page intake form, I sat in their small outdoor waiting area next to the sauna. The staff were definitely 5 stars. Front desk was very friendly and helpful. My massage was booked with Robert and he did an excellent job! My neck and shoulders felt great afterwards. The location is nice enough and clean, however it lacks some of the ambiance and amenities of true luxury spas, that's why I'm rating at 4 stars . That being said there is not anything to complain about, just be aware it's a lovely resort on the central coast and don't expect a huge super exclusive luxury day spa. I had a Signature Facial by Priscilla and I did not want to leave! She is AMAZING! You are greeted by a nice receptionist and shown a changing room where you can leave your things in a locker and put on a comfy robe. Then you relax in a chair by the fire place while your aesthetician comes out to get you. I know I fell asleep a couple of times during the treatment because I was so relaxed. When you come out of the treatment you are given a glass of champagne and water. When I checked in I was given a coupon for 20% off products. This was the greatest massage I have had in my entire life. It was couples and my boyfriend agreed his was the best, too. I have gone to many extremely high end spas across the country and without a doubt, Robert Navarro is the best masseuse of my lifetime. He was so amazing at relieving tension in my jaw with TMJ, my lower back identifying the muscle group that was actually causing pain that other massage therapists have not been able to identify. I workout too, so I have a lot of odd tense muscles, like in my hands and arms/legs. I walked out both grateful beyond measure, and pain free in my lower back. I also and not much of a yelper, and I was motivated to share because everyone owes it to themselves to have this experience. I understand why wristbands are used -- I strongly believe there is a better, more creative, less tacky solution to the problem. This is not Hurricane Harbor. As an adult, I balk at the idea of being forced to wear a wristband at the high end spa where I'm spending hundreds of dollars to enjoy various treatments every month. I don't really care for this response. Certainly your team can come up with a more effective solution. I spent the day, today, by the pool, in anticipation of a treatment I booked for myself and one of my dearest friends. The pool area was overrun by loud, unruly children. That is the primary concern Dolphin Bay should consider when creating policies about the pool and spa area. To my knowledge, it is not even remotely addressed. read more

I had a phenomenal 90 minute massage from Gina at The Spa at Dolphin Bay and highly recommend their services. The amenities aren't over-the-top amazing like some 4/5 star resorts (no jacuzzi or terme, just a few rooms in the hotel and a small outdoor waiting area with an infrared sauna) but the service is top notch and the therapists are extremely well versed in the latest modalities. I've paid much more for massages from young, unskilled therapists who don't yet know what they're doing. If you're looking for myofascial release, reflexology or craniosacral therapy, I doubt you could do better in Pismo than a massage with Gina! That woman knows her stuff. read more

This review if for the spa. I had a massage with Stephen and it was hands down the best massage i've ever had. I'm usually not a big talker while I get massages, but once I mentioned a certain place that really needed some massaging (hello, toddler twins... that would be my shoulder and mid back area in pain) he applied just the perfect amount of pressure to really release that spot. From that moment on it was I was in massage heaven. He did a mix of acupressure in the massage, but that could be because of what I specifically needed. Anyway, hands down the best massage ever. Totally worth the big price the spa charges. Oh and you know you have an amazing massage therapist when they have soft hands. It's the worst when they have sharp nails or hang nails that you feel. Stephen obviously knows and takes a lot of care into his profession to make it a relaxing experience. I was here for a girlfriends bach weekend and we all got packages. I LOVED my massage, but could have passed on the facial and body scrub. Melissa did my facial and body scrub and there just wasn't anything special about it. No extractions and the scrub wasn't impressive. They have showers in the massage room, so I'm not sure why I had to walk around with the body scrub on in my robe to rinse off. That was odd. Also, I had the massage room right next to the check in area. I wasn't thrilled with that and mentioned it to Melissa... she said it wouldn't bother me once we were in treatment. Well, I heard people chatting away while they were checking in, so yes it did bother me. They shouldn't put a treatment room right next to the check-in area. Not relaxing. Stephen really made my visit worth it. If it weren't for him I'd give this place 2 stars. The spa isn't that amazing, as there aren't any steam rooms or anything special. I treated my husband to a couples massage for his birthday last week. Our massages were wonderful, as was our time in the sauna. The reason for my mediocre review was the payment process. When it was time to pay, the girl at the computer asked how I would like to pay. I whispered that I would like to use the card on file. She then said the total, SO LOUD, and asked if it was okay to charge it to the card. I didn't want my husband to know how much it cost, so I was quite embarrassed. Then she asked loudly if I would like to leave a tip and how much. I couldn't just write it down and sign my name. I had to tell her which is so uncomfortable. Then, she added up the services plus the tip and essentially yelled THAT number to be sure it was okay. The whole process was embarrassing and not at all discreet. I went here as a gift from my husband for our anniversary. I was super excited because of the great reviews. I love a good spa. This spa is very tiny. It is nice but has no amenities that you may expect from such a nice spa. They say you can use there pool area and hot tub but it takes a key to get in and we were never explained how to get in as a spa guest. The pool and spa were also overflowing with hotel guests and many kids. The massage was received was very good. I wish I could have enjoyed it more. While I was in my room receiving my treatment I heard two women talking very loudly. I finally asked my therapist who was talking, she told me " it was the owners wife and she could not say anything thing but I could". I was naked and getting a massage so getting up to tell two rude women to be quiet was not something I was willing to do. I toughed it out. It went on and on. They had a lot to say and seemed totally oblivious that there was someone in the spa. When I was done the front desk girl asked how my massage was. I told her about the talking. She said she was sorry and would have a manager contact me but would charge me full price of $250, $290 with tip, so not worth the experience. I will not return. I think I can get a decent massage other places were it would be quiet and cheaper. I also got over charged. When I called I booked a 90 min massage and a 30 min reflexology, it should have been $195, at the end of my massage I was charged $250 for two hour massages when I questioned they told me I should have been charged $265. I was irritated at this point so I payed it and left. I came home and looked at web site I should have been charged $195. I called them and informed them of this and they did agree to refund the money and were very nice and apologetic about it. They get another star for that. read more

The facial was great and so was the foot therapy but during the foot massage the therapist took off my toe ring ( a small ring that used to be my (deceased) mothers baby ring). My buddy and I went and at first I was a little nervous, considering I didn't know what to expect (and we are guys) but everyone treated us with care and respect. I was actually surprised to see how many guys were there considering spas generally seem to be for women. Nevertheless, I had Jordan and my buddy had Melissa. Both of those ladies left us feeling relaxed and stress free. We had drinks on their patio, sat in the sauna and hung at the pool after the massages.
