I purchased a Groupon for Spa Logic (facial, massage, manicure and pedicure) and was excited to go based on some pretty good reviews. However, my experience didn't live up to some of those mentioned on Yelp.. Here's a recap: -Arrived early to the 1pm appointment, but was not seen until 1:25pm (not a huge deal as it was a Sunday and I didn't have any other commitments that day) -Massage was first, so I filled out the paperwork (confirmed not pregnant, confirmed any injuries, named problem areas, areas I'd like the masseuse to focus on, etc.) after entering the room. However, when the masseuse came in, she did not reference the paperwork, so I had to tell her multiple times not to massage certain areas because of injury or pain. She also did not minimize pressure when I asked her several times due to sensitivity/tenderness. She spent most of the time on my back (probably 40 min of the 50 min massage) and nearly scolded me after realizing time was almost up (pretty sure I wasn't supposed to be keeping track of time!) since I had so many knots in my back. Im also pretty sure the "knots" were actually a result of me cringing because of pain! She ended the massage with my feet, which was actually the area I requested focus on via the unread paperwork. That part did feel great, although she did crack my leg bones without warning, which I did not like. It's normal to feel sore in your muscles after a massage, but four days later I really am in pain. A bruised pain, not muscle pain like a typical massage. -Then it was time to move onto the facial. The masseuse told me to put on a robe and meet in the spa lobby, which is really just a couch in the hallway. There were only size S robes, though, so after trying on all three options, I just put my normal clothes back on. (I'm not a size S). Before I could exit the massage room, however, she entered the room again (without knocking) and nearly yelled at me for not wearing a robe. I told her that none of them were the right size and at that point she calmed down and let me move on.. I was a bit annoyed by that point, so I'm sure that came through via my tone. -The facial was fine, but the facialist did try to upcharge me $40 for a fruit and veggie facial. The facial itself was pretty typical - did a couple masks, a face massage, steam, etc. I wasn't expecting it to hurt so much though when she removed clogged pores. I have generally clear skin too. When the facial ended, she told me to get dressed (I had changed into a cover up once entering the facial room) and she'd walk me downstairs to the nail salon for the mani/pedi. I thought it was pretty weird though that she didn't leave the room after asking me to change. I didn't mind too much, since it was just putting a bra and top back on, but still, didn't feel comfortable with her staying in there as I changed. -The mani/pedi was as expected. I was rushed picking out a color because they were busy that day, which was sort of annoying. The Groupon included a complementary glass of wine, but I never received or was offered that. The pedicure was fine, however I wish she did a better foot massage (remember? I barely got one in the normal massage!). The manicure was fine too (I upgraded to gel), but I had to ask several times for her to continue filing because it was really messy and uneven. She also didn't really give a hand massage, I think because I got gel nails? Not sure why that would matter though. Four days later, my nails still look good. All in all, this place was just "fine." I'd never pay full price for the spa services here though. You can find cheaper and likely nicer (in terms of staff - the physical space was fine) around town. read more

So my friend and I bought the groupon deal (massage, facial, mani, pedi) and it wasn't exactly what we expected. The massage was not a "traditional" massage. We kept our clothes on and received a "rub down" while there was a towel over us. I personally hated the massage. Monica was SUPER rough and intense. I asked her to lighten up several times and I don't think she understood me very well. I left my massage feeling tense and bruised. However my friend enjoyed hers and although she says she didn't feel super relaxed, her massage was good overall. The facial was okay, I know my skin isn't the best, hence me getting a facial, and Lana kept telling me I was killing my skin and I needed all sorts of products to fix it. I almost felt insulted a couple of times. She also kept talking which I know doesn't bother some people, but I just wanted to sit and relax. My friend enjoyed hers, but felt greasy after. The mani pedi's were also okay. The basement where they do the nails is CRAZY. I feel like there were way too many people crammed in a small space. At a couple points people couldn't move around others. Although mine chipped 20 mins after leaving my nails did look really good. We were both looking for a relaxing spa day for our birthdays and the over atmosphere was chaotic. I wouldn't say don't go here, but be prepared to leave just as stressed as you did when you walked in. read more

I went to Spa Logic this afternoon for a deep-tissue massage and facial using vouchers I had purchased on Gilt City. The facial was good, though the esthetician did rush me out at the end because, she said, she had another client and my masseuse was waiting. The massage, however, was the worst I have ever experienced. Normally when I get a massage, the masseuse will ask what amount of pressure I like, if there are any areas I would like them to focus on, etc. This masseuse, Laura, did not ask any of that. She simply walked in and began massaging me. The room we were in was very cold, which she commented on several times. I verbally agreed with her, yet she did not offer me a blanket. I was under only a thin sheet the entire time. As for the massage itself, she really seemed to have no idea what she was doing. Her nails were very long and so she ended up scratching my skin painfully several times. Although it was supposed to be a deep-tissue massage, her technique was more similar to a Swedish massage and a lot of what she did was very superficial (i.e., long gliding movements over my skin that did not involve actually massaging muscles/tissue). She also "massaged" several of my bones and joints, which I have never had a masseuse do before and was very uncomfortable. It was almost like she wasn't aware of which parts of my body were muscle vs. bone. Also, in every massage I've had previously, the masseuse always does the same techniques on both sides of my body (i.e., both the left and right leg, and left and right arm). The masseuse at Spa Logic did not do this. She moved haphazardly around my body, apparently without any real plan or idea what she was doing. She was also very rough in her movements and several times I had to slide back down the table because she had pushed me so far up. She used way too much oil and had to wipe my entire body down with a damp cloth when she was done. Normally when I get a massage, I hope it will never end. During the massage at Spa Logic, I couldn't wait for it to be over and I actually considered getting up and leaving several times. There may be other staff here that give a good massage, but this masseuse did not. I even wondered whether maybe she worked in another part of the spa and was just filling in for massage appointments because they were overbooked and needed an extra person. In any case, I would strongly discourage anyone else from getting a massage here. read more

I've gotten a couple of haircuts from Myly, and they've all been great, but this most recent one inspired me to write this review. Myly really knows how to cut with restraint, even when chopping off a good 5 to 6 inches of hair. She works quickly, but that doesn't mean she's being careless. I can really tell she has tons of experience and knows what she's doing. I've had experiences where it feels like the stylist is experimenting or training on my head....never an encouraging feeling. But Myly cuts beautiful, well-tailored cuts that are just all around CLASSIC, and does a gorgeous job in less than an hour. She fixed a really bad haircut I got a few weeks ago and shortened my medium length hair to a long-ish bob. I've never gotten so many compliments in my life! Thanks Myly! read more

So my search for a DC stylist is on hold. Got a voucher through Giltycity and had a cut and blow out from Mylee. Pretty good. No one replaces my stylist from back home but there has never been a case here in DC where I actually walked out confident and feeling pretty after a cut. I was thinking I wanted big hair for the blow out and yes, she delivered. Mind you I didn't say even tell her to do it. I wanted to see what she could do. She just read my mind.... I guess we have a mutual style aesthetic =). Blowout delivered lots of bounce, big barrel brush curls and girliness. I walked out on the snowy pavement feeling like Barbie ... Something of a mixed bag. Had a groupon (facial, massage, mani and pedi). Facial was good, and I have a second appointment scheduled, however I may cancel as I am put off by the changing (and not clearly publicized) price list. Unlike virtually every day spa, neither their prices nor their services are on line. They run specials on a given day on a chalk board outside, but (or at least according to a conversation with a customer I overheard) if you have an appointment booked for that day, you pay the full (not clearly stated price). Also, it was not clear front the groupon that the massage was a clothed massage, and what they quoted for their base price for that massage (on which of course I tipped on) was a joke - it was hardly worth half that and the massage "girl" I say as I would be very surprised if she attended any reputable massage therapy school, really did not know what she was doing. Mani and pedi were fine (but again, for the non-groupon price I tipped on - which I believe was $70 or 75 - mind you no shellac, just regular) was out rageous. So now as I have written this, I've talked myself out of my scheduled facial and am going to cancel. read more

Shawanna is AMAZING and the salon is wonderful! I have unruly curly hair and Shawanna always knows how to color and style it just right. I have been going to her for over 5 years and she is so incredible that I even had to fly her down to do my hair at my wedding in Florida because I didn't trust anyone else. My mom and bridesmaids were all so happy with their hair! Now that she has joined Spa Logic I am very happy. It is a new salon and it's very clean and nice, but not too pretentious. I've never felt compelled to write a Yelp review until this experience at Spa Logic. I can't speak for their other services but I went to Spa Logic two weeks ago for a body perm that was truly the worst perm I've ever received. The staff was friendly enough but my hair is now completely fried. I didn't notice anything strange about my hair at the salon since it hadn't dried yet and the stylist told me she didn't want to blow dry my hair because blow drying may ruin the perm. By the time I came home my hair had dried and I was horrified to see that my hair had frizzed and all my ends had been fried. Ever since the perm, if I don't keep my hair braided, I look like a witch on halloween night. As if that wasn't bad enough, I've never experienced problems with dandruff and I now have bits of scalp peeling off. I thought if I waited for a week my hair and scalp would improve, but it's been over two weeks since I've gotten this perm and all I'm left with is a head of frizz and a peeling scalp. read more

I've been meaning to write a review for a while but I just got the extra push I needed and not in a good way. While I really like Shawanna and think she does a great job, there are other reasons why today was my last visit there. Every time I get my hair washed, it's like a rush job. I take longer washing my own hair than those ladies (although they're nice). First, the water was a bit too cold and the head massage was so fast and not relaxing. Then, the conditioner was in my hair for roughly 15 seconds before washed out. I just paid $70 for a simple trim (she took like .5 inches off), per my request. No coloring, no highlights, no perm or straightening treatment, deep conditioner treatment, no blow dry. Nothing extra or fancy and that was the price. I've never paid that much for a simple trim before and the prices never used to be like that. They've almost doubled and I'm very upset that there was no notice of the change. Their website is down and has been for months so I had no way of knowing, plus they don't have prices listed anywhere either. I was shocked and no explanation was offered. Going through the reviews below, I see that an up-do is quoted at $85 so none of this makes any sense. I almost skipped my appointment today and now I really wish I had. read more

Myly was so sweet and took a lot of time to listen and really go over exactly what I wanted. I ended up getting all over color before a full highlight and then ended with a beautiful blow out. Tracy here is a miracle worker! I went in with an awful haircut and 5 different tones in my hair due to previous sloppy work I got done elsewhere. As I didn't have good experiences with a lot of the D.C. hair saloons, my only expectation was to get my roots fixed and not to look awful. Fast forward two hours, Tracy fixed my cut and gave me the most natural looking balayage ever and I could not even believe how good it looked. I had a complete wax with Lee she did a really really really good job and I was very very hairy so I did tip her kindly. She also was flexible in terms of adding other services to the services I had planned on. I also got a manicure and a pedicure with Lee and she did a really good job with that and she was very very fast. I got the callous remover on the bottoms of my feet for an extra five dollars but I really didn't notice any huge difference. As soon as I got home one of my diamonds from my nails already came off and I noticed that the diamonds are a little crooked as well. be careful with paying at the parking meters in the area and make sure you time yourself appropriately. at one point I had to run out with wet toenails just to make sure I didn't get a ticket even though I put two hours on the meter. this visit ended up taking three hours. also I had an early morning appointment for 10 AM so I arrived at 9:45am and the front door was locked so I literally stood outside until almost 10 o'clock before someone opened the door for me. Once I got in I noticed there was already a lot of people there early so I'm not sure why I was kept waiting outside and I found out that there's actually a downstairs that has its separate entrance on the other side of the block. their manicures and pedicures and waxings take place down there. all in all it was a really good experience Lee was so nice and so sweet and helpful. The other staff seemed nice. if you get a pedicure use the massage chair it was really nice. read more

I was looking for a local salon that sold the Jennifer Aniston haircare line, Living Proof. I went in for a basic cut with MyLy after reading such wonderful reviews for her here on Yelp. I did not have a Groupon or any other special deal. My appointment was for 1:30 on a Tuesday, and unfortunately, I did have to wait. However, the owner absolutely made up for that by giving me a free deep conditioning treatment and taking 15% off the cost of my cut. As for the cut itself, I LOVE IT. My hair was very damaged back in October from over processing, and I really needed some major length cut off. Other stylists seemed to be afraid to listen to me and cut the right length. But MyLy tested a few different lengths and hit the nail on the head. She shaped it beautifully. I just am so in love with this cut! I will definitely be coming back to see her again. And her price was very reasonable, especially for the area, even without the discount I got that day. read more

I came here for a haircut with a groupon. I knew what I wanted because I have very thick hair that doesn't sit well if its not cut right. I wanted texturing and layers so it would be much thinner at the end and it would grow out with a good shape. The woman basically said no to doing layers, so she just textured the hair - basically cutting out half of it from the inside so it was thinned out. Two months later, my hair has grown back, its thick at the ends and falls flat, just like I said it would. Seems like this place lacks basic understanding of hair types and how hair grows out and pushes poor choices onto the customers. Severely disappointed. read more

Spa Logic is magical, its a little cramped where you get pedicures, but by the time your foot hits the water and the chair massager comes on its a wrap. You forget all about the small area. Massage by Candy was superb. The facial was great, learned some things I need to do for my skin. Overall it was a fantastic treat, thanks to my co-workers I couldn't have received a better gift. I have visited this location twice and had services with Tracy. She believes in hair care and gives me tips on how to maintain my hair throughout the week until my next service. She does an awesome blow dry and curl. She is very nurturing and always inquires about how my day is going while giving expedient service. Really, she is FAST! I have been with Tracy for nearly two years and will always remain because my hair has become very healthy under her care. The 4 stars are because of the receptionist here at Spa Logic. She didn't ask if it was my first visit and I saw signs stating customers receive 20% off for first visits. Also on my 2nd visit, I noticed 2 stylists eating on the floor which is unsanitary because hair is flying all over the place. But the salon is really very clean overall and would recommend it. They also have a full service spa. You can come for all kinds of services and business is booming for sure. All stylist's chairs were filled with customers. Of course since I'm highly satisfied with Tracy, I will come back again and again. read more

I was in town for a conference and a friend suggested snagging a Groupon for this place (facial, reflexology, mani/pedi, and I got a discounted deep tissue massage). With the Groupon, it was great value for money. The facial really helped to clear out my pores after all the winter grime and pollution, the two massages (with Jin) worked out a bunch of kinks in my back from flying for two days, and the mani/pedi were solid (not memorable but nice way to continue the spa experience). Without the Groupon, it would've been a bit pricey and I probably would have opted for half of the services. But if you can get a Groupon, it's a nice way to spend a Saturday morning, detoxing from a crazy week or shaking off a long flight. read more
