Let me get it out of the way. Yes, it's pricey. Having said that, you really get what you pay for. I am a massage snob...and I can say that this was the best massage I've ever gotten outside of Pho Siam in Los Angeles. I had a combination of Swedish and therapeutic massage. Whatever she did, I soon found myself drifting off in bliss. I also got the Skin Of Gold body scrub. That. Was. Heavenly. It felt great and I smelled delicious after the vichy shower washed away the scrub. The staff was friendly and courteous, the eucalyptus steam room was divine, the salt water tubs outside were amazing and warm. I also get a mani-pedi the day before my wedding from Letty. I've gotten more mani-pedis than I can count but this was the first time I've ever gotten one where I wasn't cut by the instruments. Yes, it was expensive but the level of care and attention received in addition to not cringing whenever she came at me with the sharp tools were well worth the price for me. I'm totally coming back here the next time my husband and I are in town. read more

I bought the Resort in Groupon, but it was not as cheap as it said. For my understanding, they ran out the room so they said that we would upgrade the room for you. However, they accidentally charge my credit card, and the amount was less than the price that I paid in groupon. I just can't understand, and it took me more than one month to get my credit back. I had multiple treatments at The Wellness Spa. First, the spa has a great ambience. It is nicely decorated and feels luxurious but homey at the same time. I loved the eucalyptus steam rooms and that they have wash clothes on ice right outside of the door. I also love that they have toiletries for your use; including, tampons, pads, toothbrushes (one-time use of course), deodorant, and hairspray. I also love that they have curling irons, a straightener, and blow dryers. The unisex area has a pool and waterfall warm tub...not sure what to cal it (not a jetted hot tub). They also have a few areas to just relax. The covered cabanas with fans were gorgeous. I do wish that there was a jetted hot tub but love that there is a pool. Now for the treatments. My massage was amazing. I felt extremely relaxed and the therapist really "listened" to my body. The pressure was perfect and the therapist was extremely friendly. My pedicure was ok. The lady who did my pedicure was awesome. She was friendly, warm, and sweet. She did a great job on my pedicure and I am completely pleased with her. They do not offer gel polish for the toes which disappointed me. The massage chairs were not the best. They only vibrate and weren't the greatest. Also, they only have a metal bowl for your feet. It is large and pretty but not the typical pedicure bowl with running water so the water was not very warm. My body wrap was not my favorite. I left feeling not relaxed. I don't like not having the ability to shower to wash off the scrub. Instead the scrub is wiped off. I felt like I was at an nursing home, honestly. You have to sit up for them to get your back. You have to lift up your hips to get the plastic out from under you. It was weird. My therapist was also not very nice, she seemed cold and like she hated every minute of the scrub. She did the motions for the massage but didn't really do anything spectacular. Her not being very warm made it kind of awkward, like I was a piece of meat she was marinating and slapping the marinade on lol. She made no attempt to get to know me which I am used to questions like "what brings you in," "how is this pressure, etc." I'm sure she is lovely outside of it but I didn't like the vibe and combined with the nursing home sponge bath feel, it wasn't a great experience. I have come here before and had a tailored massage bought as an anniversary gift. I was very specific in what I wanted in my massage that I liked a lot of pressure and do not like my feet or legs massaged and wanted focus on my back due to a lot of back pain lately. Long story short the girl (I believe Elizabeth) did my back for maybe about 15 minutes. Then did my arms, legs and feet, I was very annoyed but thought maybe she would go back to my back and felt bad saying anything. She turns me over and covered my face with a cloth that made me feel very claustrophobic and she went back to my legs and feet. At this point I asked her to stop doing my feet and legs because that's not what I asked and she rudely snapped and told me she did my back for at least 30 minutes which in fact she didn't because it was 30 minutes into the massage when I peeked at the clock as she turned me over after doing back, arms, hands, legs and feet. I reached out to the manager because I was very upset with the massage that cost close to $160 and it was terrible. Also the facility was very dirty. The showers were not kept up with so I had to use a dirty shower because I didn't have time to wait, no eucalyptus in the steam room. One of the pools were extremely dirty with a lot of bugs, flies, and trash floating in it and the other was also very dirty. The manager was accommodating and sent me a gift card. I recently went back to use the gift card and had gina this time. Massage was scheduled at 12:45, she started late at 12:55 which was no big deal but I assumed she would have ended an hour later, instead she ended at 1:45. The massage itself was good and she listened to exactly what I wanted. The pool again was dirty so didn't use it, there was a roach floating around in it. There was only one chair there to lay out in so my friend and I had to go to the main hotel pool to lay out in. Overall I don't think I would be back. read more

I gave this place a second shot, against my better judgment. Both visits proved disappointing. The rooms are mediocre and the service is sort of average. Everyone is certainly nice but they charge 5-star prices PLUS a resort fee for very average services and treatments. It's by no means a dump, and the people are nice, but just not on the level you expect for the prices (problems with charges going to the wrong room/card, taking a while and getting confused and not handling complaints well, etc.) More important, the spa had multiple issues (broken pool heater, broken massage table heater, freezing cold dressing room because they kept leaving the door open -- which also compromises privacy!). After all of that, we had to complain twice to get the resort fees taken off. read more

My family visits the valley every year at the holidays and part of that visit includes treatments at The Well Spa. I look forward to this as a special treat for our trip. This year Is our 7th visit to the spa. I am a plus sized woman who upon check in asked for a larger sized robe. I was given a robe that didn't even close and was forced to wear my street clothes underneath so I could make it to my room. It was absolutely humiliating to have to go back to the front desk to ask for another robe to be told that they gave me the largest size. I was so upset that it took extra time to get relaxed for my massage. The interesting thing is that I observed men and women in robes with different fabrics that were larger. When I checked out, I shared my feedback with the woman who checked me in and she was beyond dismissive and rude. Another associate at the desk offered me apologies and a discount for my trouble but the other person seemed like it was a bother that I was there. I have never written a Yelp review in my life but just wanted to provide the feedback that if you have a spa that offers services to all, then make sure that the experience is a good one from the beginning. Please provide this dismissive and rude associate some customer service training. Unfortunately me, my family nor my friends will visit the Well Spa again. read more

Loved, loved, loved the whole entire experience! As a traveler of many different spas and resorts, this is, by far, one of my favorites!! Zitlali, the concierge, was very friendly and patient while we enjoyed the complimentary snacks upon entering the venue. My massage therapist, Miranda, truly loves what she does. I am so happy I had her; she did a great deep tissue and even though, I talked quite a bit, she was very grounded. The prices are very reasonable for a resort, especially since you can enjoy all the wonderful amenities - eucalyptus steam room, very comfortable waiting area with individual areas to nap or read a book, and two outside pools - for the entire day! I love this area of CA but this is truly my favorite resort to receive treatments. I highly recommend it!! read more

I had heard that the Well's Spa offered day passes for $30.00.... I finally took the opportunity to check out their facilities and purchase a day pass. Their spa is located in the back of the hotel by their main pool.... Service was friendly and I was provided a tour of all of the spa amenities which include a private soaking pool.... which I loved and took advantage of. Sorry to say the spa quality has dropped. We hadn't been in the area for a number of years and we used to love this place. But new management has really brought this place down. It wasn't horrible it just was nothing special. They had our massage request down wrong and we would have had to wait to prep the request so we just went with what they had set up. Both of our masseuses seemed very inexperienced and clearly not as good as any one we had before. I prefer a male therapist so I always request Alejandro. He's awesome. Perfect pressure and knowledgeable and professional. The moment you step into the spa you're greeted and taken care of. In a quick draw you only need to be the best for a split second. Well I guess Sharon Stone was managing the Well Spa the day Conde Nast came through, because this place was anything but #1 on Father's Day. Massage was fine, but the facilities, and service???? There's a small pool with 7 small waterfalls, 4 didn't work. In 100 degree lunch time heat, there were only 3 umbrellas to provide shade to all patrons. When asked if they could bring another for my wife I was informed that all other umbrellas on the property were designated for the restaurant or the main pool. Not that they were being used, that they were designated for other areas. Tough for you, enjoy the burn. If you're the 200th best spa in North America this is OK service, but if you're #1 and you boast about that on your website and put copies of the article up on the walls, and stickers saying "#1 Spa" on your magazines so nobody forgets.... This is not acceptable service. Next, the steam room was only 103 degrees (my wife told me the women's was 120). It wasn't a steam room, it was just a bad summer day on the east cost. The shower was nothing special, just a single regular shower with a plastic adjustable shower head that was broken and would not adjust. When the locker room ran out of towels, nobody restocked them for hours until somebody finally complained. I noticed that items of trash on the locker room counters were not removed all day. I assume because nobody bothered to check. I could go on, and each on it's own would sound trivial, but together they describe a very poorly managed spa. And that's really disappointing, because it's #1 ranking is one of the main reasons we were at this particular hotel. I'm not a spa person, I might go when my wife does on vacation once a year. But I can tell you I've been in a lot better, and had much better experiences that this. Even if everything worked perfectly and the staff was attentive, from a male's perspective the facilities are nothing to brag about. read more

"the fellas" have a weekly golf retreat every Sept and we stay at the Miramonte. They have been consistently outstanding year to year 2009 to 2013. I've never experienced a bad room, the nights are quite and tranquil, the temperature controls in the room work efficiently. the staff is friendly, responsive and caring. And the food in the restaurant is second to none! Note the bar staff is great .. the drink specials are always something to look forward to. the Jalapeno Margarita is a special treat if your daring enough. read more

i had bought 3 travel zoo vouchers for my sisters and I (celebrating her Bday). We all had a fantastic time there the ambiance is light, airy, while also tranquil and relaxing. I came here for a 75 min facial. And I can say it was the best facial I have ever had hands down. My skin is still glowing! I cannot wait to go back and try a massage. The spa itself it small, but accomodating with a very friendly and helpful staff. My only complaint is that they try to sell you on all these products afterwards (but what spa doesn't). The hotel itself was fine (although a little close to the highway for my taste). Where they lost my business was the terrible service I received at the "Well" spa. From the moment I walked in, the staff barely acknowledged my existence. I waited almost 5 minutes before the girl behind the desk decided to speak with me. Received the Medditeranean massage, which is just the regular treatment. Maybe because it's their basic massage, they think they don't need to work very hard, because I've never received a weaker, less inspiring massage. When the treatment was over, I went to the front desk and let the girl know I wasn't pleased with my massage. She said she was going to get her manager, left for 10 minutes and never came back. Frustrated, I decided to leave. I really don't like to complain, but was just so ticked off that it had to be done. Steer clear of this place. read more

When I called to book the massage I explained that I would have my 4 month old son with me but that he would be sleeping (this is due I the fact that my husband and I were at Miramonte for a conference so my husband was busy and couldn't watch the baby). The receptionist didn't seem to have a problem with the situation. So I go to the spa and they won't let me go into the spa because of having the baby with me. They said its "against city rules". Even the manager wouldn't make an exception. It's not like he would be running around and making noise!! He is only 4 months old and was deep asleep at the time!! We were looking for a romantic getaway for my birthday. The website portrayed the Miramonte hotel as a"luxury hotel". It looked gorgeous and had a spa, "The Well Spa", and offered some packages for a room and spa experience combined. Since I knew I wanted to go to a spa and get a massage on my birthday, I booked the package which was $269 for a room and included $150 credit towards the The Well Spa. On a Sunday in January. I called the spa to reserve a massage in advance. The woman helping was very sweet, and went through all the possible massages with me. She also informed me they were offering a deal for a "Detox Massage" for $120, as opposed to the other oil massage for $155. It had just 4 oils compared to the "Pioggia Massage" which had 8, I think. I decided to make it easy on my fiance, and take the deal for the Detox Massage, figuring I would use the remaining credit towards the gratuity for the masseuse. The hotel room was decent but nothing to write home about, but the grounds were beautiful. The Well Spa was a little small but it was was fine, not amazing, but it was nice and relaxing. My massage was great. I really enjoyed it and the masseuse was wonderful. Upon checking out of the spa, they informed me there was a $30 resort fee added to the $120 Detox Massage. I asked what it included. She said it covered a 20% gratuity for the masseuse, and then other stuff like wifi and parking. I thought it was a little shady to just add this fee on themselves, but since I had $30 left from my $150 credit I figured it worked out. They couldn't find my confirmation of booking and paying in advance at first, but finally she found it. I made sure again the $30 fee covered the masseuse's tip, and she assured me it would go to her. Upon my fiance checking out of the hotel, our bill mysteriously went from $269 to $345.66. What was added: 1. $24.66 for taxes 2. Apparently ANOTHER resort fee for $30. When he asked what that fee was for the lady vaguely explained that it was for wifi and parking. Seriously? Again? Once at the spa, and once at the hotel? 3. And lastly, get this: they charged him an extra $22 for the masseuse's gratuity! He came to the car to ask me about it, saying the lady checking him out called the spa and spoke to the manger who said she had explained to me I couldn't use the remaining $30 towards the resort fee and gratuity! When did this happen? Why did she lie? I walked to the front desk to find out what was going on. The lady, "Ashley", coldly told me I did not tip the masseuse, so they added $22 to our bill. I protested, telling her I did, explaining exactly what had transpired. She said "Fine, we will take the tip from the masseuse, and refund it to you." What?! Take the masseuse's tip? "Absolutely not", I said. "I was charged $30 that I was told covered a resort fee and 20% gratuity for the masseuse. Do NOT take away her tip." Just then an angry woman, Erin, apparently a manager, shushed me, telling me to be quiet and move along. We went back and forth for a while, finally ending in the manager insisting I leave the premises! It was humiliating. We left, paying the entire amount. I called the spa and told a woman named Pamela what had happened. She said that we should not have had to pay a tip again, that what happened was terrible, and she was sorry, and would speak to her supervisor, and call me back. I never got a call. read more

I visited The Well Spa on 7/27/13 after purchasing a night from Groupon. The facilities were nice. BUT, the service and stay was horrible. I assume they placed us in the farthest unit of the hotel since we didn't pay full price for the room. At checkin we specifically asked for a quiet room but instead were placed in a room next to a family with several children. The noise level was unbearable from 4am-9am. After several attempts to take care of the situation, we complained to the front desk manager. She didn't take any action to the incident. Too bad. Came here to celebrate my daughters birthday and was disappointed to say the least. We were initially told that the spa was very busy the Saturday we attended and that we had to book services to be able to get into the spa to enjoy the amenities. Once we arrived we were disappointed to find that the spa was not really a spa to begin with. There are two very small salt water pools outside, a eucalyptus steam room and a tranquility room that is not very tranquil at all since it's a room people are constantly walking through to get to the bathroom, lockers, steam room and outside. There is a very large pool and bar that is outside the spa that is available for all hotel guests. This is where we spent the day due to its size. I purchased one mixed drink and a club sandwich at the bar. The drink was great and ran around $14. The sandwich was good too but it took about 45 minutes to get it and was about $14 as well. The four of us all had massages and facials which were great and I must say that Pamela who checked us in upon arrival was very nice as well. Towards the end of the day I over heard someone say something about checking out. I've been to many spas and have never had to "check out". So I went to the front desk and asked. Angelica explained that yes we needed to check out and that my final total was $62. Granted I had already paid $175 for the facial and massage not including food and drink. Oh and by the way that was using a groupon. She said there was a 20% service charge to use the groupon and the remaining balance was a tip for the therapists. I was never told upon arrival that I needed to pay a service fee or check out at the end of the day. Wow I thought, pretty expensive 50 minute facial and massage and secondly who decides how much I'm going to tip my therapist, the spa? I think we all go to Spa's for the rest, tranquility and relaxation the spa environment provides. There is none of that going on at this place! Save your time and money and find another spa! read more

I highly, highly recommend the Well Spa. I booked a Mother to Be massage, and I wasn't sure what to expect. First of all, the check in lady was so friendly and warm. She quickly got me situated. The locker room was small, but spotless and well equipped. My therapist was Monica, and she did a fabulous job. The Mother to Be used a pillow that made both laying on my stomach as well as my back comfortable. I felt SO relaxed after the massage. Monica had a really calming presence and was very skilled. Sometimes I am hesitant to book a massage at a resort, because they can be pricy, but this was well worth the money. I will definitely book another treatment next time I am in the area. read more
