The space is a beautiful renovated loft, with creaky wooden floors, and a residential layout. Beautiful classical like Chopin and Tchaikovsky playing instead of the usual cheesy Enya fare. The two women who own the spa perform most of the services, and were extremely friendly. Large lobby to wait in and browse the many product lines. I had a 2hr+ spa manicure and pedicure, wonderfully performed by a Svetlana. It felt traditional, with a basin and sans hokey massage chair. It included a luscious organic honey and oatmeal exfoliating mask for both my hands and feet, followed by a hydrating pineapple gel mask. I wanted to eat my hands and feet afterwards, and they felt so soft. From what I saw, the individual rooms for facials/services were beautiful (about 7/8), and the prices were moderate. read more

I haven't been here for awhile, but I don't always pamper myself with facials often enough either. Soooo glad I finally booked one and I was recommended to Kaila because I mentioned I have eczema when I booked the appointment. She was full of information & recommendations for me. When I first got on the massage table I was psyched that I was laying on top of warm padding and then was offered the rolled pillow to put under my legs. I was ready to take a nap with this comfort level! Glad I didn't actually fall asleep though because this whole experience was Ahhhh-mazing!! You get all different serums put on & massaged into your face and gently taken off with a hot towel which gets wrapped over your face for a gentle steam. The different smells of each one were either soothing or invigorating (that's the word that came to mind haha because that's exactly what it was ! LOL) It was also my first time trying a jade roller on my face. It's a cool feeling (temperature wise) but you can tell your aesthetician if you don't want it. It's good for circulation and helps the serum to penetrate into your skin. If you're into the extractions, which I am, this is part of this facial. I love when they get the yucky stuff out of my pores. So satisfying (& to be done safely because we all know we shouldn't be doing it at home where you can end up scarring your skin). At check out I was able to chat with Emily who I didn't have to a chance to chat too much with when I checked in & she was super nice! We exchanged some stories and had some good laughs! I just really enjoyed my visit! Such great energy and I guess most important, I left relaxed & my face felt so clean & dewy! A great start to winter and the dryness. I called Spa Soak this morning and they were able to get me a facial appointment an hour later, which worked out perfectly for me. The receptionist was very attentive both on the phone and when I arrived. She told me that I could find coupons on ChicagoBeauty.com and that they were going to have a special through PrettyCity.com next week- It never hurts to know when you can save a little money! When I arrived I had to fill out a standard spa questionairre and was offered tea as well. My appointment was with Angie, who was an extremely amazing esthitician. She was very thorough with her work, she took the time to really look at my face and analyze what would be best for me before she proceeded. She was really patient and kind with me and my problematic skin. She did a lot of extractions, and checked in with me several times during the session. A nice little bonus was that she did a little arm massage as well! When it was all over as I was getting ready I looked at the clock and noticed that she had spent more than hour on me (I wouldn't have realized this unless i looked at the clock). It was nice to know that she didn't rush through the service, but took her time and did everythign well. When I came out of the treatment room and went to pay the receptionist checked in with me and asked how my appointment went and Angie brought me a glass of water. Overal it was a great Spa experience. As othes have mentioned the floors are creeky, but its not super noticeable when you're in the treatment rooms, and definately not something that would stop me from going back next time! read more

I went to Spa Soak with my friend on Sunday, and oh my goodness did I leave a happy customer. My friend and I just got back from a vacation in Thailand with a few other people. Our trip was amazing, but the sweaty hiking and camping, salty water, constant mosquito spray and sunburn did not do our skin much good. We looked forward to getting some well deserved facials. Now, I'm a girl who absolutely loooooves her skin. My friends tease me for practically having a boutique in my bathroom, and I relax by reading Allure suggestions and dozens of reviews on Sephora for new skin care products :) Facials are one of my favorite ways to pamper myself, and I've gotten plenty. I was reading reviews to try a new place, and Spa Oak's services looked pretty awesome, not to mention their glowing reviews. I am soo happy we booked, because I enjoyed the BEST FACIAL OF MY LIFE! I was lucky enough to have Jen (I hope that's her name!), as my esthetician. She's one of the owners. I loved her attitude, too. She was friendly but not overly perky, and answered all my questions but was quiet as soon as we started. I was SO pampered!! Perks: -Great ambiance -Comfortable heated bed with neck support and raised legs -Mood-setting music (not weird hippie new age music but actually relaxing and happy sounding instrumental) -Hands rubbed with moisturizer and put into comfy warm gloves for duration of facial -Thorough and exfoliating cleansing with rhythmic strokes -Multiple Masks -Massaged LITERALLY the entire time. I had a prenatal massage and body butter scrub. I loved the body butter scrub, but really didn't enjoy the prenatal massage. My masseuse was fairly robotic and not very communicative. The oils they used were unscented grapeseed oil and when I asked for aromatherapy they refused because there was alcohol in it? They never asked if the pressure they used was appropriate either (it wasn't and I was too nervous to ask for them to adjust). Finally, they were unaware or didn't care that I had multiple services and did not offer me a bathrobe, just instructed me to get dressed afterward even though I was going to get undressed a few moments later at my next session. I want to emphasize that I'm merely rating their Brazilian Wax in comparison to others, not really the whole experience. If i were rating the whole experience, I would probably give 4 stars. At this point I've had enough waxes from different places that I would either go back or I wouldnt. Unfortunately, I would not go back to Spa Soak. It really didnt have much of a chance because I bought a coupon from KGB Deals and really wouldnt go back anywhere that charges $60 for a Brazilian. For those of you that would pay that, it was more or less a good wax. The place was clean and had a luxurious spa feel. They have you use a disposable panty, which I think just gets in the way, but maybe someone more modest might appreciate it. The only bad thing was the kind of wax they use, which I had an allergic reaction to. This isnt really their fault, but it wasnt very comfortable for a day if you know what i'm saying. Who doesn't need a day at the spa? I got a gift certificate for Spa Soak and was excited to check it out as I'd never heard about it before. From the outside, it doesn't look like much. It's located on a strip of Milwaukee that isn't overly crowded and from the outside, you would never know that a spa existed inside. Once you step in, it's a whole different story. Beautiful spacious interiors that immediately help you forget the hustle and bustle of the outside. I had a body treatment done and was shown to a private room immediately. They explained the entire process to me and told me what each step in the process was for. They also gave me a quick run down on the ingredients and why it was useful. I never felt rushed during the entire time I was there, and if anything, I almost felt encouraged to lounge for a bit. The staff here is definitely knowledgeable and seem sincere in their efforts to help you relax. Prices lean towards the lower end of average. Parking during the week at the beginning of rush hour was fairly easy. I will definitely be coming back to experience some of their other treatments. read more

Came here for a bachelorette party and it was fantastic! They had us set up in the room manicures are done and nobody else was scheduled during the time we were there so we kind of took over. They had tables for us to use to set up the food and drinks we brought in and everyone was super friendly and helpful! We selected our services ahead of time from their spa packages menu (which is VERY reasonably priced) and they provided us with a schedule, which they were very flexible with the day of the party. I wouldn't have noticed the creaky floorboards if other reviews hadn't mentioned it and didn't find them distracting at all during my massage. I will definitely be back here and would recommend it for your regular spa treatments or for parties as well. I think I read this on other reviews but it can't hurt to add again- you can tip on your card if you use a debit card. If you use a credit card it's cash only for tips. read more

Language was a challenge, telling them the manicurist what you want and getting what you want are two different things. My wife wanted a her nail's trimmed but held back because she got a bit frustrated with her other requests. In addition, she was kicked out of her seat during her dry time by another employee who had to have a non-customer sit next to her sister, my wife didn't mind moving it was just that she was told to move, "you're going to have to move." It should've been, can you do me a favor and move over there so these two friends can sit together. This place was amazing! Lisa helped me do my "Look better naked" body facial and Melissa did my massage. The body scrub was amazing, and I felt amazing afterwards. The only thing that could have made it better is a mini neck massage, but it was fantastic all in itself. Afterwards, I got a 30 minute massage by Melissa and she was so great! Asked me a ton of questions and created an instant game plan. I wish I would have more time with her because in thirty minutes she worked out so many little kinks from my job (standing all day over counter in a kitchen). I received a gift certificate for Spa Soak after Lincoln Park's Ren (my then-favorite massage place) closed. I've been here twice for massages - a deep tissue massage & a detox treatment/massage. Both times, I've been pleasantly surprised at the warm, inviting interior that awaits as soon as you enter (through a side door that's essentially in a alley). The massage therapists were friendly, but not too chatty (which can quickly turn a massage from 'relaxing' into 'annoying.') I haven't tried any of their other services...nails, facials, etc. but hope to some time soon. I have had 3 good experiences here. First was a Brazilian bikini wax - of course this is never a pleasant experience, but with Emily is was about as thorough and mild as it could be. I had been going to the salon at my gym, and maybe they were just doing such a bad job that this blew me away, but I was really really happy with the results. Plus she gave me great advice about ingrown hair prevention and maintenance. EDIT - Last time in I was with Angie, who did a pretty good job (in about half the time), but wasn't nearly as thorough. I've been here many times for mani/pedi, bikini & brow wax and facials. The creaky floors can be annoying at times, but I tune it out. I have Angie for waxing & facials and she's great. I wish I could remember the lady who does my nails because she's great too. The only reason I did not give the spa 5 stars is because of the noise level in the nail area. Some clients believe that the time to talk on their cell phone is while getting a pedi. There is clearly a sign saying "No cell phones!" Great oasis in bucktown. Came here for a 60 min massage and a pedicure and left nice and relaxed. Walking in to a welcoming, calming ambience really sets the tone. The aroma was ideal and the staff was great. I love the set up- quite a large space. The masseuse used great smelling oils and had a great touch. I might have liked a little more pressure. The pedicure set it apart. They come to you with a nice big basin of warm water, and get to work. Meanwhile you relax in their comfy chairs... No massage chair if that excites you... But I think those can sometimes be distracting. My pedicure felt amazing and she really got to work. After the final touches she brought the dryer to me and I sat finishing my magazine and tea. The ambiance feels nicer and cozier than a lot of Logan Square spas, scheduling is flexible and reliable, and my massage itself was great! The digs: after entering through a side door up a ramp, I was greeted by a friendly person at the front desk and offered tea or water. It's warm and pretty inside with a nice waiting area in the massage area and main entrance. The massage rooms are candle-lit and relaxing with aromatherapy and soft music. Heaven. Scheduling: I was able to get in the same day, my appointment was on time and even ended a little late due to a few extra minutes on the table! Massage: I was asked if anything was too hard or too soft, only appropriate pressure was applied to my neck and back, and my therapist was the perfect level of chatty (let me relax, but checked in when needed). I walked out sore from a Swedish massage, which never happens, but my back felt amazing 2 days later. It's a little pricey, but worth it if you want to feel really pampered and relaxed! read more

I will start off and say Jessica is amazing and if you can get in with her definitely give her a shot! Unfortunately I can't see her on her work days now. On another note, I've had issues with the facials in regards to very abrupt strokes and painful extractions but just decided to not get facials there anymore. But my last massage here really made me not want to come back and try anyone else. She didn't use any oil or lotion until I asked her to. My skin felt raw and sunburnt for days. I should also mention I was a massage therapist for 5 years and completely understand myofascial release, but this was too much and not the "deep tissue" massage I paid for. I went to Spa Soak for the first time recently, and overall I was very satisfied! It's got that typical "spa" feel inside, really nice decor. It's a pretty old vintage building with creeky floors. Nonetheless, the service was great, fast, and prices were on-par. There's plenty of open metered parking out front. I saw Emilie for the Barely There Bikini Wax. She was great to talk with and was fast and gentle - (fyi, they use strips, not hard wax). Also, as I was paying, they offered me a full size stick of Dove deoderant for FREE! The new kind that is supposed to reduce stubble. You could get the free sample no matter what, but if you have an old used deoderant to exchange, you get 10% off. I actually had my deoderant in my work bag so I got a discount too! I would definitely go back here sometime, and feel comfortably trying any of their services. I just had my first visit at Soak and I will definitely be returning. The therapeutic massage I had with Karen was one of the best massages I have ever had-and I've had a lot. She really took her time and it felt as though she were reading my body to customize the massage instead of just going through a standard routine set of moves. I was so relaxed when she finished, I almost couldn't get off the (heated!) massage bed. The high quality natural and organic essential oils they use during the massage have a pleasant scent and the aromatherapy adds to the relaxing experience. I go there for my eyebrow waxing with Emily---she is the only one that I trust with my eyebrows, especially now that I've had a few too many hairs taken off by others. I've also been in and seen Jen for facials and those have been pretty good to too. The massages could be heavier in pressure but it's ok overall. The only reason I am not giving them 5 stars is that it can get pretty pricey. And some times it's hard to get an appointment when you want with who you want, so it's a good idea to call in advance if you have an event coming up. I am somewhat of a spa enthusiast. I love getting massages and being pampered, and I enjoy checking out new spas in Chicago or on vacation. I really wanted to love this spa, but I simply don't love it. When you walk in, the lobby is beautiful, light and welcoming. There's a receptionist to greet you, and it really is a nice space. However, no one offered me a refreshment nor was there any water sitting out, which I think is a key feature that every spa should offer. People want to relax and no one should be going into a massage feeling dehydrated. Also, many other spas offer guests slippers and bathrobes, so that they can relax from the moment they walk in the door. This is not the case at Spa Soak. Second, the bathroom situation is far from glamorous. I understand that the spa is in a renovated building, but it lacks modern features that you'd find in other spas. For example, I only saw a single stall bathroom. I would hope there would be more than one bathroom, but I didn't see one. There are no locker rooms or showers for your post-massage experience. Finally, let me get to the massage itself. My massage therapist was great. She was pleasant and she did a good job. The room itself, was not so great. I was stationed in the room nearest the lobby, and directly across from the nail salon. It was loud. So loud, in fact, that for the majority of the massage, I could hear entire conversations and loud fits of laughter. It sounded like a party was going on in the nail salon. I'm glad they were having a good time, but it was not the experience I was hoping for while enjoying a massage. Also, the door the main entrance was located directly next to my room, so throughout the massage the door was slamming. Maybe some people would be okay with the noise, but I'm someone who prefers quiet during a massage. Again, the spa is very cute and the staff was professional and nice. But, this is a 3-star spa for the price of a 5-star spa experience. I think that sound proofing the walls, renovating the bathroom (and adding more than one), and working on the refreshment/welcoming process would really help this place step up their game. Had two fabulous treatments over the weekend. I started with the Extra Strength Enzymes facial.. it was exactly what I wanted. I called and didn't know what I needed but explained that with the harsh weather my skin was so dry. The person I spoke with was patient and so sweet. She gave me the facial options and thought this would be best for what I needed. I have a strict routine and never have issues, but this winter has been extra hard on my skin and this facial brought it back to life!! It looks so fresh and has a great glow to it again!! I definitely recommend it. After my facial I did the relaxation massage. I'm always nervous getting a massage because I don't like a heavy hand. She asked me before we started what type of pressure I liked and it was PERFECT!! She started and with the first few minutes I was so relaxed. In the areas that I wanted more pressure like my neck, I just said please go a tad harder and she did. Then when transitioning to another spot she went back to the same pressure.
