This is probably the closest Tampa has to a "destination spa". It doesn't look like much when you walk in and check in, which might be an area they could spruce up to be 6 stars :) Once you are taken back to the locker room, you slide in your robe and slippers and get to enjoy the nice relaxation lounge. Put your feet up and enjoy a nice hot tea as you wait for your therapist. I would recommend getting there 20 minutes early so you have a chance to wind down and enjoy the serenity before your scheduled services. I've done facials, massages and their infrared sauna. My favorite is their massage with foot reflexology and a hot oil scalp treatment. This is the perfect pampering and you truly feel like you are on a spa journey. read more

Blown away. And I've been telling anyone who will listen how amazing this place is. I received a gift certificate for "60 minutes Back to balance Swedish massage" which I was hesitant about because I tend to enjoy deep tissue massages more. However, I was not disappointed! The moment I walked in a wave of calm and wonderful scents enveloped me. The second the door closed the hustle and bustle of the city was dimmed and I was immediately checked in and taken to the back to place my things in their locker room and change into the robe and sandals they provide. Then taken to relax in the tea room. Tip: arrive 15minutes early so you can relax in the tea room, you can have tea while you sit on a comfy couch or chair. I was quickly greeted by my massage therapist, I think Jessica. I didn't have much time to finish my tea in the tea room, but she gave me some time to finish before the massage. The massage therapist was excellent, she asked me type of pressure I wanted before and during the massage, and where I wanted her to focus on, and she provided explanations for why she was concentrating on one spot more than where I thought I needed a focus on. And I felt so much better after...I felt like a new person!!!! She used deep and light pressure, and it was a head to toe massage (not even my finger tips or earlobes were missed)! I highly recommend this massage therapist, she very attentive and provided an excellent service. Unfortunately, I couldn't book her for a Saturday, so I'm going to have someone else...I'll update my review then! The aroma of the spa is strong, which I was nervous about because I have sensitivities to strong smells, I usually get a headache and stomach ache, but this was not what happened, instead I felt calm and soothed by the aroma, even after I left! I was so close to getting the 10 massage package because you get 20% (I think) each massage, but I didn't ask if there's an expiration date, and I want to splurge on a facial here sometime soon, too, so maybe another time. I did sign up for my next massage, saved 15% on it if you book before you leave. I do wish they sold whatever it is that makes their spa smell so amazing! I would have bought it in a heartbeat. Overall, this was an excellent experience--note I didn't just say massage, it's more than that, the immediate sense of calm, the aroma, the tea, it's wonderful. My husband got me a gift certificate for a spa package so I decided to add on and treat my daughter to her first day spa experience as well. We both enjoyed a magnificent mother/daughter afternoon at Spa Sudeva enjoying massages and facials. Once you step inside, you would never in a million years believe that you were right off of MacDill. It is so quiet and serene inside. An absolute urban oasis! Spa Sudeva was a total sensory experience without being obnoxious in any way. Our entire experiences were of complete tranquility from the moment we entered right through to check out. The scents of lemongrass and other natural oils perfume the air, but are in no way intrusive or overwhelming. The music playing in all the rooms is perfectly appropriate and not repetitive or annoying as I've experienced before in other spas. We arrived early and enjoyed some time in the tea room after we changed into our luxurious spa robes. The tea room is an incredibly relaxing sanctuary which is beautifully appointed and filled with delicious teas, snacks, and water. I had a fantastic massage followed by a facial by Edyta which was perhaps the best facial I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Her hands are like SILK!!! The services, location, atmosphere and professionalism were so superior to any other spa that I have been to in the Tampa Bay area. So much so that we made follow up appointments to come back right after the new year. There is never a moment where you feel rushed through your services, or to leave. All appointments are staggered appropriately so you never feel like you're intrusively bumping into "strangers" waiting for their services. The entire spa is also immaculately clean. We had absolutely no issues with parking as other reviewers mentioned. We parked around back and found the lot spaces to be spacious and not overly cramped. Great products for purchase to take home as well, if you choose to do so - there are no "hard sell" pressures like you may encounter with other spas. Treat yourself or someone you care about to services at this beautiful gem of a place. Highest recommendations! Spa Sudeva is my new favorite spot for complete relaxation. This was my first time at this spa & I had a very pleasant experience. I booked the 60 min. zen fusion massage and a 20 min. foot massage. My therapist was Tiffany & she preformed an amazing massage! She was very knowledgeable and kind. Throughout the massage she mentioned any tight areas & often asked about pressure. I felt very relaxed & comfortable. Definitely get there at least 15 mins prior so you have time to lounge in your robe and relax your mind. My husband discovered this amazing gem in South Tampa. He bought me a gift card for my Birthday and I went in today for an exfoliating facial! Amazing is an understatement. I was greeted by a very sweet woman at the front desk and was taken back to change into my super cozy robe. I was then able to sit in a separate waiting room that had tea, water, and snacks. There was a book to write intentions in, as I did and also a little spot where you could paint your feelings with water on a canvas and watch them dissolve as what you painted in water did. My aesthetician was so sweet and had a warm, vibrant energy. Her name is Brittany and I already booked another appointment with her for October! We had a consultation about my skin and how it runs on the dry side. She cleansed my skin, exfoliated, did extractions, rubbed oil and moisturizers allover my face (she did it about 4 different times and it felt amazing!), and gave me a facial mask! I also received the most relaxing and fabulous neck, shoulder, arms, and hand massage! The products smell amazing and are all natural! My skin feels so soft and hydrated! She also gave me helpful tips on how to improve on my skin type and suggested steps to add to my routine. This will now be my go to Spa in Tampa! One trip and I'm hooked! I have been to this spa three times, twice for massages and once for a facial and there are definite pros and cons. Let's start with the "pros"! First, as everyone has indicated, the atmosphere is amazing at Spa Sudeva. It is very cozy, and dark inside, super relaxing. The space is nicely decorated and they are always playing good Asian inspired relaxation music. There are candles everywhere and it always smells lovely. I have rather serious allergies and sometimes fragrances will make me sneeze but the scents here are never overpowering, just relaxing, which is great. They have an ultraviolet sauna you can use before or after services which is a nice touch. Next, I adore Cathy at the front desk! She is always super helpful and patient when I am asking countless questions about services or products. I enjoy their selection of all natural facial products and the Conscious Coconut oil which is packaged locally. I've bought something there each time before leaving. Next, I have had countless facials in the best spas around the world and the one at Spa Sudeva was right up there among the very best! I had Karoline and she rocked that facial! She uses all natural facial products and some sort of exfoliating tool that made my face look absolutely radiant. Book a facial now, you will not be disappointed with Karoline! Of note, they seem to have frequent specials on services. I got an upgrade on the facial I had there and it was a fabulous deal. Lastly, the spa has a great program where if you book your next appointment before leaving, you get a percentage off the next service, I believe it is 15%. Now, for the "cons." I've had two massages there and sadly, was not impressed with either, like not at all. Of course, the bar is set pretty high, no doubt. The first was just average at best. I do not remember the therapist's name for the first one. She wasn't bad, but she wasn't great either. So, Cathy convinced me to give them another shot, and urged me to try someone else. So, I just had a "zen fusion" massage with Amber. Amber was super sweet for sure, but the massage was worse than the first one, and potentially one of the worst I have ever had. It was not even average. The "zen fusion" massage was supposed to be a combination of deep tissue and relaxation massage, and there was no deep tissue about it. I asked her to focus on upper back and shoulders, and legs since I had just started running. The pressure was extremely light in those areas, perhaps the "lightest" massage I have ever had. Amber never asked if the pressure was satisfactory. Amber seemed to oddly go a little deeper on my arms than the rest of me, which is where she really could've gone light. In her defense, I could hear her wrists and hands popping and cracking as she massaged; perhaps she has carpal tunnel issues or something and has difficulty with pressure. Anyway, save your money, you don't want Amber, maybe the first girl, maybe. Next, they need to redesign the reception area. The reception area is so tiny and there is no place to really sit on the rare occasion Cathy is not ready to take you back yet. Oddly, the door from reception into the treatment rooms does not latch and pops open as soon as you shut it. Cathy's chair is quite low behind the desk. I cannot see her at all until she stands up or I walk right up to the desk, and she cannot see over the desk either. As I was leaving the reception area today, I saw a guy put one of the crystals up front into his pocket. I'm sure stealing is not a problem in that spa but there's no way Cathy would know either way from where she sits. Lastly, the parking is a pain. There are a few spots behind the building with very little room to maneuver. If the spots are full, there are a few odd spaces where you can park on the side of the building where the rear of your car is sticking out into traffic. You are unable to park along the streets due to a residential ordinance allowing you only five to ten minutes parking on the street. Anyway, there are definite pros and cons at this spa. However, rest assured, I booked my next facial today with Karoline! I'll be going back for those facials! read more

Spa Sudeva (formerly Spa Sundara) is a fantastic spa located on MacDill Ave. On the outside, Spa Sudeva does not stand out among its neighboring businesses. However, once you step inside, it is like you have stepped into another world. The entry lounge is small but sufficient enough for its purpose- to house spa goodies and a check in area. You don't stay at the entry lounge long enough for it to require any more space than what it has. When I walked in, I was immediately taken aback with the change in atmosphere inside the spa doors. Asian-influenced music playing softly and dimmed lighting- it was all so soothing. The front desk assistant was calm and peaceful, speaking in a hushed tone, not hurried at all, bare-footed and completely natural. I knew this was going to be a good experience from the get-go. Once I gave my name, the front desk assistant walked me back to the spa area. I was transported yet again to another hidden lounge of dimmed lights, soothing music, perfect temperature and scent. She showed me where to place my belongings- in a private locker that had a plush robe for me to wear in the sitting lounge- and a bathroom and shower area should I wish to use them. The sitting lounge itself was so lovely. Comfortable seating, light reading, dimmed lights and candles lit, Eucalyptus scented, draped tapestries decorating the ceiling, healthy treats to eat and delicious tea to sip on. I was in love with the sitting lounge and felt completely relaxed before my session. Christa was with me for my massage session. She was very nice and seemed kind and positive-minded. This allowed me to feel comfortable with her from the start, which is always a good sign when you are about to receive a full body massage. We briefly discussed my problem areas before the session began and it went fantastic! Though we were the same body size, Christa really knew how to work my problematic shoulder blades, getting deep into areas of knotted tissue. I also really appreciated the calf and foot massage. Who knew how much pressure these areas received? Thinking about it reminds me that I should make another appointment in the near future... Check out was a breeze. I received a discount card for Christa, where I receive a free massage session after I complete a few more sessions with her. Awesome! I was sad to go home but I went home and loafed around, in pure bliss and relaxation. Overall, it was a wonderful, relaxing experience and I encourage everyone to make a visit at least once. This was my first visit at Spa Sundara for the classic, European facial with the lovely Edyta. I can confidently say, this will not be my last time at Spa Sundara. I am usually very picky and particular about beauty services, and like to only go to individuals who are knowledgable and passionate about their craft, who are capable of answering my questions, who confidently provide their expertise and suggestions, and who are not pushy on selling me things that do not apply to my needs. Edyta and her staff were all of the above during my visit. The atmosphere of the Spa is perfect - relaxing and calming. The entire establishment is very clean, and smells beautifully without being over powering or "chemical-ly." The staff was very welcoming and pleasant, never making you feel rushed or uncomfortable. The facial was fantastic! Edyta did a great job of helping you relax, while also educating you on your skin type, providing suggestions on how to best take care of your skin in making it healthy and youthful.
