I quickly did some research and found Rocket Bakery was just 5 mins away from where we were. We pulled into the tiny parking and luckily there was 1 spot left. When we walked in, it was more of a coffee shop than a bakery I had envisioned. However, they had a small area of baked goods and a glass window of cakes/pie and ready-made food. I didn't recall being greeted either. Vibe was kinda off, not the cool vibing coffee shop feel. After looking at everything, the only pie option they had was a Rhubarb Custard, which I went ahead and ordered a slice. I also got a slice of the Blueberry Cheesecake Tart, and a berry scone. My friend got a slice of the Lemon Tart and a chocolate chip cookie. The young employee helping us was really nice, but I think she felt overwhelmed by the line of people started to form. Towards the end of putting our order together, another employee came to help. I also felt we were kinda rushed out of there. So much so, that after we were handed our food, out the door, and almost to the car-- an employee came running out with a box in her hand. She forgot to give us one of our slices. The berry scone was pretty good. It was dense, moist, and cooked perfectly. I was excited to try the rhubarb custard pie, but unfortunately it fell short for me. The rhubarb wasn't tart at all, giving it a real subtle taste. Possibly could have used too much sugar to cut the tartness. The custard and crust part wasn't bad. I could taste the nutmeg and cinnamon and a hint of vanilla. The blueberry cheesecake tart had great flavor. It wasn't too cheesy nor sugary. Preferably, I wished it had a bit more blueberry topping. The crust was interesting--it was good and I think it had nuts, oatmeal, and coconut mixed into it. My friend said his lemon tart was really good but that the winner was the chocolate chip cookie. He said it was on the softer side and filled with mini sweet chocolate chips that he really enjoyed. For now, I'll continue my quest in search of yummy pies in CDA and Spokane.

I got a raspberry mocha, which is a baseline drink for me that I get at all new cafes. It was delicious! The coffee shot was prefect and it was sweet enough for me. Also got the berry scone, which has lemon frosting on it. DIVINE! I don't think I could try anything else; I'd want this scone every time I stop by. The tables are assorted in size but I never saw an employee in that area to wipe them down. It also was crazy warm in there. Even after taking my coat off I couldn't stay long in the heat. My husband and I got married on the 20th of December in a small ceremony to save money for a larger reception next year. We didn't plan on getting a cake bc we had such a tight budget, but my mom wanted us to have something to freeze for our anniversary so she ordered us a cake from here to surprise us and make our day a little more special. She ordered over the phone and then needed to make a change so she called back to change the writing on the cake. She asked the guy who she spoke to if she needed to email the information over and he said no and that he had it covered. My mom decided to email the information over anyway just to be safe. This was 1 month before the wedding. The day of, my dad picked it up, he didn't know what it was supposed to look like, but mentioned it didn't look great to my mom later when we arrived to the venue. When she opened the box it wasn't even close to what she ordered. Not even before she made the changes. We asked specifically for our last name in black writing and a certain font which they said they could do. We received an all white cake without our last name and the writing was not straight nor the font we requested. It almost looked like they forgot about us and went to the grocery store really quick. At this point it was too late to do anything and we were all leaving town for the holidays the next day so we left it in the box at dinner, skipped the cake cutting together and just took it home. We decided we would come talk to them after Christmas. We had a few bites out of it, but ended up throwing it away because it just wasn't very good anyway and by the time we got to talk to an employee, it would have been bad. Dec 26th my mom went in to see if we could have it remade so we could freeze it for our anniversary or refunded. The owner had the most disrespectful attitude saying between "ALL of the calls and emails" he couldn't keep up, and it was her fault. Mind you the cake wasn't even close to her original order either... He said he would refund her if we brought the original cake in (a week later). He kept trying to make her feel stupid with snide comments... Thankfully she stood her ground and didn't accept anything less than a full refund which he eventually gave her after arguing with her and making her cry, saying we should just be thankful they even made it in the first place because they normally don't even do things for "as cheap as $50" As she was walking out he said to her "If they still have the cake you should try it because it's really good..." as I mentioned before we threw it away because it was not very good... The whole experience was just very disheartening. We had heard such good things and maybe this was a one off situation, but we have a reception planned for over 200 people next year and we will absolutely not be ordering from here again. We are also in the event community and won't be sending recommendations here any longer after our personal experience. Making a mistake is one thing. Things happen especially around the holidays, but to push blame and verbally insult another person as a business owner is another. We are incredibly disappointed. My favorite flavors were the Mango Coconut and the pistachio pomegranate. They had a delicious crunch and flavor. Each of the pastries were crunchy and satisfying to bite into. I also got a few macaroons to try. I got the pistachio and birthday cake. The birthday cake was fine but didn't taste like cake to me, but the pistachio had a delicious strong pistachio flavor. It has a seafood base which tasted amazing with all of the citrus and to finish off our meal we had hot ginseng tea, which I'm surprised I haven't tried sooner because I love herbal teas.
