Loved the Lodge decor & space, coffee station in lobby & daily choc chip cookies in the lobby. We used the game room, the indoor pool, the hang out areas. Favorite spots were the beach, snack shack, deck overlooking the lake. Beach swim area PERFECT for toddlers!! The sand was great & resort provided beach toys, chairs & beach towels (so helpful!). Loved the open grassy areas, fire pits & cute chairs, playground & mini golf. Only gripe was our lower level rooms were musty & water stain on shower ceiling (Rm 211) - would be easy to fix that stain. Daily housekeeping for the rooms is included but slow (I had to request it 3 times in one day; finally done around 4:30pm). Overall we would totally recommend this resort. VERY family-friendly! We made terrific memories & would definitely return. I just think a bit more refreshing of the rooms would elevate the experience to remove the negatives.

We had plans to ski nearby Gore Mountain but the wind and a -40 degree windchill kept us from the slopes. This turn of events left us with more time than we expected at the lodge. Lucky for us, there were plenty of available on-site activities to keep us cozy and entertained. Highlights included: - Indoor heated pool & jacuzzi: What a luxury in the dead of winter! Spacious indoor area with large windows to house their pool, kiddie pool, and jacuzzi. Lounge chairs, tables, etc. Ample supply of pool towels, easy access to bathrooms, and separate changing areas so you don't have to walk through the lodge in your suit. - On-site activities: Board games available with ample seating near a fireplace. Large bar area. Group activities like bingo. The list goes on. - Comfortable rooms with useful amenities: Large televisions (great as the Olympics were on!), soft beds, mini fridge, Keurig, and the like. - Proximity to Downtown Schroon Lake: Although there was dining available on-site, it was nice to have a number of restaurants to select from 5 minutes down the road (and a stellar view of the frozen lake anytime you're pulling out of their property). - Hot drinks & snacks: I enjoyed some free cookies and hot beverages available in their lobby and main bar area on several occasions. Speaking of their property, the drive in among their towering trees is impressive. Lots of variety in the type of accommodation you can book. Ample parking. Great with snow removal and ensuring guests can get in and out. Staff were very helpful. Only snafu we encountered was right at check in. The heater in our first room sounded like a jet engine taking off with an incurable rattle. It was late but the front desk was very responsive and moved us to another room. Unfortunately, the room was quite a trek and was only accessible via stairs (which was a bummer as we had quite a few things we needed to drag in). To our delight, on trip 2 to our vehicle, the front desk stopped us and offered a 3rd but much closer room that became available after a last minute cancellation (which we gladly accepted). They didn't have to do that but we really appreciated them keeping us in mind. We were also granted a slight extension on checkout given our change in plans. Would definitely stay here again!

The building we were in had a lot of stairs and no elevator. The "main" building interior is beautiful and there are man made waterfalls out front. The main building does have an elevator but the amenities, like pools, are pretty spaced out and require considerable walking. The room we stayed in beautiful with a wonderful view of the lake and mountains beyond. Of very special note: the Guest Services Manager- Ms Lia Collins- is a truly special person. She went beyond normal policy to help us out when unexpected circumstances caused us to cut our stay short. She treated us with caring and compassion- not just as customers. I highly recommend this hotel - aside from my accessibility comments. In my opinion- if accessibility is an issue for you- that you stay in the main building. Just be aware that there will be some walking. Overall a very nice place to stay!!

The grounds were kept so nicely, the bathrooms were incredibly clean, and there was a firewood/ice truck making rounds to keep the fire and party going smoothly. I constantly saw employees (non-invasively) cleaning and tidying; one time the elevator opened and one of the staff members in a black blazer was shining the interior elevator stainless steel features. Also impressive is how *every* team member from front desk, to spa, to pool technician, to house keeping, to managers, to wait staff, etc are all exceptional. Food: The View - restaurant attached to property was great for breakfast. Demir was also exceptional, and again seemed genuinely happy to be there. I appreciated how all members of the staff (maître d, owners, servers, busers) were equally present and eager to help. The Cottage - across the street, such a nice cozy spot out of the center of downtown, can really appreciate the view. Amenities: as I said to Tony in the pool/hottub I have no clue how they keep an indoor, warm, wet climate so clean. Zero mold. Zero rotting of the wood items. So impressive. Not a big indoor pool fan but as a mom, I appreciate the joy it brings to kids and families and what a great option to break up your day without needing to leave the property. Decor: the people reviewing negatively about the dated decor cracks me up. I agree there are some carpets and decor features that are dated and as someone who was here just for a wedding sure, not my favorite. But from my convos and observations the bulk of their clientele are repeat customers who adore the traditional and familiar decor. The really neat historic photos & memorabilia also clearly stamp that this IS the vibe they're going for. And nothing is "dated" that negatively impacts your experience; tv, windows, bathroom, kitchenettes, all updated. This place has so much history and families who value their traditions, I appreciate & respect that. And the lobby (here at Christmas time) is absolutely charming. One final note, I read reviews of this place before coming and the managers named 9000x to just tell them the feedback and they'll fix it. By visiting here, you can take a gondola to the halfway point up, and then an elevator to the top of the highest jump. Gondola ride itself is very cool, and the elevator can be overwhelming however you can stay in the indoor cabin at the top versus going outside to climb the final staircase. It's crazy that from the very top, you cannot see the landing zone at the bottom. Expect a wealth of factoids and sweeping views of the area. The staff can answer just about any Olympics question you can think of. Came blame them, as this is a very cool place to work. Not sure how repeatable this is unless you upgrade to a tour with an athlete demonstrating the jump, or the zip line which launches from the hallway point, however at worst it's well worth the 1 visit.
