Awesome campground in the ADK high peak range. 25 minutes from whiteface trailhead(s) and even leaa to the Adirondack loj. Was here on a Friday into Sunday after 4th of July and no complaints on anything here. We stayed at one of the dry sites with a tent and a hammock, but there are hook ups here for RVs as well as cabin options. Front desk sells firewood, ice and has a very friendly and informative staff. read more

Meh. For $25 a night I got to sleep in a field with zero privacy and tons of noise. The 10 PM quiet hours are not enforced ( at least they weren't for the 2 nights my husband and I stayed). Bathrooms were decent ( better than NYSDEC camp grounds). Our main reason for our stay here was proximity to the high peak trailheads at ADK Loj. I would not stay here again at a field site, but maybe the wooded sites are better. Check in staff was friendly. $5 firewood, $2 bags of ice were a definite plus. read more

My wife has stayed at Draper's Acres before but this was my first time and our first time as a couple. It's easy to understand why she suggested we stay here. Aside from affordability, Draper's Acres is very conveniently located between Keene and the village of Lake Placid and near high peak trailheads. The camping areas are of generous size (not on top of other campers) and the shower houses are incredibly clean, unlike NYS-run campgrounds. read more

If you are looking for a snazzy campground with all the bells and whistles, this isn't for you. But if you prefer sites with a bit of woods between them, and really friendly owners/employees it's a great bet. There are some sites that are what I call "RV park" - mostly a field with sites close to each other, but many sites with electric and water are nicely separated and wooded. The owners, Chip and Leia, have owned the place about 5 years and have had a lot of work to do to clean it up and that work continues. But they go above and beyond to make their guests welcome - I saw them dragging out a compressor to fill a guest's tire! We got stranded by a broken down tow vehicle and they found us a site for the week and even pulled the trailer off the site and stored it for us when the repairs ran longer than we thought. Made our debut visit to the Adirondacks the other weekend hoping to camp out and hike a few peeks. Draper's Acres was able to get us in within a month of our reservation date (phew!); our group booked two sites (30 31 - 4 tents and 2 cars). Our sites opened onto one another so it was great for group camping (would have not so great if they hadn't been friends). We camp often and in all sorts of campgrounds, so when I saw that it was popular with families I'd made assumptions about the setup and cleanliness (yeah nope). It was fine for that weekend, but I'm not sure that we'll be back for a long stay again. ::The Pros:: + Super reasonable pricing (1-2 tents per site = $25, 3-5 tents per site = $35) + Water and electricity at every site! Even their wide open field sites (thank goodness in this age of mobile apps) + Bagged ice ($2) and bundled wood ($5) for sale at the office, as well as free newspaper, kindling, and matches (but really folks....did you forget that at home?!) + Late arrival is a-ok (so when you're driving from MA after work and showing up at 10pm...no worries!) + Pretty good base location if you're planning on hiking the ADK + Friendly staff + Pets a-ok (so long as they're quiet during quiet hours and leashed) + (Could be a con?) All sorts of camping/'camping' available: woodsy, field, RV, cabin, leanto. These areas are pretty well divided, but it's still a rather small amount of space for such diversity ::The Cons:: - The bathrooms (at least the ones near the 20's/30's) are SUUUUUPPPERRR back-woods/'Look, I made it myself!" construction with a coat of paint. They smelled less like a 'typical family campground' and more like an outhouse from ye olde times. Only 2 or 3 stalls per M/W restroom. Only one shower stall per M/W restroom (quarter operated.....bring flipflops/foot coverage) means that there are long lines for a refresher post-hike. - Sites are pretty exposed/aren't expecially private, nor are they particularly well marked - High 20's and 30's sites are VERY close to the highway (like....maybe 200', I could make out make/model from our campsite) which makes for a loud/less-than-tranquil camping experience *big sad face* - (Could be a pro?) No security.....you can come/go as you please, whether or not you have a site booked. - While on a walk....found a creepy back-lot filled with scrap metal and sadness (get a fence for this....not great for adventurous kids to stumble upon) read more

We just returned from 3 nights at this campground. We've been camping for 25+ years and have seen some mediocre sites but this place was by far one of the worst. Hookups are not placed conveniently, some sites are almost in someone's front yard, bathrooms are gross, and the newly installed septic system emits a nasty odor. If you're tenting, it might be ok but RV's should stay clear of this place. read more

This was my third year staying at Drapers Acres. I was immediately greeted by Leah Draper, the owner and Hospitality Extraordinnaire. I have a large RV so I need full hookup ($40 is very reasonable). My usual site was very roomy and had trees between sites, had a picnic table and fire pit. I liked that I didn't have to trek to the campsite next door to share utilities...they were separate and very close. The owners are very accommodating and friendly. I will be back again next year, for sure! read more

We booked a tent site here on the holiday weekend, as we were going to hike three peaks. Typically we are backpackers but given it was a out and back hike, we decided to try Drapers. This place was awesome. The campsites were super spacious. We had a normal site and fit four tents (and one of them was a circus tent for 8), strung a hammock, parked two cards comfortably and hung a hammock in the trees. The fire pits are build nicely, picnic table was in great shape. The wash houses were very nice for a campground and even had a set of them where you get your own individual bathroom, sink and shower. I went up to meet the owner and chatted for a few...they are super laid back, seem to love what they do and have plans for the future in the campground. The price is more than reasonable for the location to the peaks, skiing and if you want to go hang around placid. I saw they have cabins as well. We plan on going back for sure.....as this was just too convenient and totally meets the needs of any camper. read more
