This was our first time here. I've read the previous reviews and recognize that was the old restaurant and there are new folks running under lease. Having said that, today is the second (maybe third) day reopened under new management. Seems to be a family affair, dad behind the bar, mom running the front of the house and waiting tables along with the daughter. The service was attentive and friendly. I had a question and asked for a recommendation, both were happily provided. My mom got an antipasto salad which was huge and well put together. I stayed simple and got the spaghetti and sauce with added sausage. This is a personal taste .... The sauce was on the thin side for me. I prefer a thicker sauce. Again, that's a personal thing. The sauce did have a great taste I enjoyed. The sausage also had a great flavor and has fennel which I like in sausage, especially in a spaghetti sauce. However, the sausage was over cooked by quite a bit. It was a bit crunchy. That's what cost one star. I did bring it up to the mom and she immediately asked to remake the entire dish. I declined as I hate wasting food. It was edible and the flavor good so, I declined the do over. I appreciated the offer to make it right and the effort to please the customer. She did return a short time later and took the cost of the added sausage off the bill. Again, it was appreciated. It's early days for the new management but they seem to want to do a great job and make the customer happy. I can say the food we had was solid and well made. I would say, take previous reviews with a grain of salt and recognize there's a new sheriff in town. Give the new management a shot and try the food. read more

sorry to say they do not know how to run a business. WE were seated and she took our drink order. someone else brought them out. still no one came to take our food order. Finally a different person asked if anyone had taken our order. We said no and he took it and did not write anything down. When it came out we were supposed to have steamed vegetables and was given a salad without any dressing. They said they didn't have any steamed vegetables and gave us a salad instead. Then the rice pilaf came out with a scoop of rice which was dry. We ordered two chicken gyros and got two chicken subs. When we got the bill another server came out to check the bill because they had two bills for us. Finally we got that taken care of. Was not a good experience for sixty dollars. read more

We had lunch there last Friday and it was great ! The menu is amazing and combines Italian and Lebanese options. The complimentary hummus was authentic and so tasty. The owners were the servers and cooks and were so nice. We highly recommend the Kettle, in fact w are going back this Friday for clams and a fish fry ! read more

So this is a very hard review to write. Reading some of the others, we experienced some of what people have said but some of our experience was contradictory. Our Waitress had very Middling service. She was forgetful in taking our order but she was very attentive to our drink and bread needs. The side salad was fine but might soup as pictured did not look or taste like Pasta Fagioli, very runny and messy. We both got different Marsalas. My chicken and my gf got veal. Both tasted very good and savory. She got mashed potatoes with hers which was good. I got pasta which I wanted to mix with the marsala but it was served with red sauce so I was unable to. $54 for the two of us. Tax and tip included. I might try them again but definetly a little high for the service and some aspects of the meal. read more

Well, it's the end of 2022 and I feel it is necessary to give the spaghetti kettle a deserved bump. After reading so many prior negative reviews, I wanted to say that my brother and I enjoyed a very nice meal, in an intimate setting last week. I had the critically acclaimed broccoli and hats. They were smothered in butter and garlic, much to my liking! My brother had the traditional spaghetti with meatballs. Both of us enjoyed our meals, together with salads and house garlic bread. I have no complaints about any of it, and was pleasantly surprised by the bright-faced Server who tended to us very professionally. She had a lot of personality , and a good sense of humor. So I've driven by this place quite often but never actually stopped until a couple weeks ago. I had rather high hopes when going in as I just figured with a name like spaghetti kettle they probably make their own pasta. Now although I never actually ask them if they did or not, it wasn't advertised on the menu anywhere and I'm thinking if you make your own pasta you would be bragging about it and it would say homemade pasta somewhere in the menu. It did say homemade sauce so there's that... I mean at least assuming it's accurate one can be comfortable with the idea they didn't just open a jar in the kitchen. So my party was seated rather quickly and it was a really really cold day outside. I mean it was about 2° or something like that. I only bring this up because the room we were seated and had a fire going however even though it was within sight we were seated next to an outside wall and it was drafty enough that a couple of us left our coats on. We went ahead and ordered, the food came out rather quickly and possibly because I was hoping for the homemade pasta thing and didn't get it this may come off a little more negative than it perhaps really was but nothing really stood out as awesome or fantastic. I had the prime rib which was very tasty however the texture seemed a little bit different than other places I've had prime rib. I'm not saying this as a bad thing, just a different thing. The only other thing I wanted to note was the calamari that we ordered for an appetizer was huge. Other places I've gone they are a little bite-sized pieces breaded a deep fried, these resembled a basket of onion rings. Visually had I not known I would have just thought it was a basket of onion rings. They did however taste pretty good. As opposed to their smaller counterparts at other restaurants these were large enough that you really did get the calamari flavor. The dipping sauce however that came with them was a cocktail sauce with horseradish which I thought was kind of odd but that might just be something they do there or maybe she grabbed the wrong one out of the refrigerator. So anyway I would go back and possibly will as after reading some other reviews on here there are a couple of other dishes that I would like to try. read more

They offer an extensive menu with so many choices including quite a few haddock dishes. We opted for their jumbo shrimp cocktails and a 9" cheese pizza for apps and then the chicken parmigiana for our main dish. The shrimp were huge and served with a tasty and spicy cocktail sauce--so good . Everyone liked the cheese pizza which was cut into squares as opposed to slices. The chicken parmigiana contained 2 large pieces of chicken smothered in a pretty nice sauce and covered in mozzarella. It came with a salad and a side of spaghetti. Their home made parmesan/pepper dressing was just ok. I wished the pasta was served al dente and was presented with a bit more care---it's the name of the restaurant-right?. It sat in a small bowl with a dollop of sauce on top. The sauce was actually pretty good--light but with a nice mix of seasonings. The pasta was overcooked. Service (the night we were there) was as good as it could have been considering 3 people decided to quit that day! We wound up getting our own water and bussing our own table just to help our server keep up with a packed restaurant and only 2 servers. They were pouring their own drinks too--no bartender that night..... Could also explain the quality of food and presentation that night. I'd go back. read more

Well, I will never return after our meal last night. Poor quality food and services was bad and after reporting that one of our meals we were unable to eat because it was floating in oil and lemon. We told the waitress and she said so you did not like it! We stated we could not eat it and they still charged us for the meal. The meatballs were mushy and bland and overall a very poor dinning experience for a local Restaurant. Bring your own water because no one seems to see your glass is empty either. read more

Don't confuse this with the Spaghetti Factory. This is the Spaghetti KETTLE. One of the most underrated restaurants. We have eaten here many times and the service as well as the food is 5 stars. Reasonably prices. Our normal meal is Home Made Hats with Broccoli - *but* their version is much better than any I have had elsewhere. The hats are delicious, perfectly sized, obviously home made and always perfectly cooked. The broccoli also cooked perfectly - not mushy like most places. They also add a good amount of onions and other seasonings making this 5 stars. Our other favored dish is linguine with white clam sauce. Yes - cooked perfectly and of course diced clams in the sauce but also a few whole clams on top. Really good and cooked perfectly. Food is always served fast and hot. No fooling around in that kitchen. Attentive and knowledgeable hostess and waitress. One of our favorite places to eat. Go early, they get filled up with people quickly. read more

This was an out of the way place for us to go to and we were feeling slightly adventurous to go out to dinner off of a somewhat beaten path. The server was slow but super friendly; Ill give that a pass because she seemed like the only one working on a Friday night. The food, however, was extremely over priced and the Chicken Parm that I ordered was old; you can tell this when the chicken is grey and leathery its old. I really cant give this a pass because realistically even if it is made during prep in the morning it will maintain a white-ish appearance even after cooked. There is more evidence that everything is made and sits because my salad clearly was not freshly assembled, and the dressing comes in pre poured 3oz containers that have a viscous skin on top of them which is evidence that it had been in the fridge for at-least a day. We went here on March 27, 2019. Our party of 3 arrived at 7:19 pm and waited to be seated. A waitress who was talking with a seated couple finally stopped chatting and told us we could sit wherever we wanted. There were many empty tables, so we took one against the wall. Another server brought us menus and said she would bring another table setting. Then we sat and were approached by no one! We walked out at 7:50 pm and, as we started walking out, a gentleman who was sitting by himself said, "The service is pretty bad here, right?" I said, "What service?" And he laughed and agreed. Will never return here. The staff at this restaurant appear to be more interested in chatting than in taking care of customers!! Additionally, this site indicates that they take credit card payments, but the top of their menu encourages cash and says they don't charge credit card processing fees like other restaurants do. 8/2017 I am giving it 4 stars because the last meal. Their King size ravioli and sauce were fantastic. One of the best ravioli I ever had! The service was excellent both times. This trip I wanted something different. I considered the Chicken Riggies but the waitress recommended the Meatball Riggies with a blush sauce. The meatballs were a little hard and the sauce ok. I should have ordered it spicier. My wife ordered the lasagna. It tasted good but the sauce was thin. Lots of meat but the noodles almost disappeared. Hot bread was very good. read more

Worst food ever had. Hadn't been here in over 10 years figured we would give it another try. They give you bread to start off with loaded with margarine. Then the sauce is so oily no flavor. Sausage was extremely wrinkled and old. Riggies the worst I've ever had. Also had oily sauce no flavor chicken was mushy no peppers no mushrooms nothing in it. They asked if I wanted them mild medium or hot asked for medium and no kick nor flavor to it. The size was very small definitely not worth it. Never going back and will definitely spread the word. My boyfriend and I were in the mood for Italian last week. We decided on the Spaghetti Kettle. We had once gone there on a busy holiday and the service was less than good, and the food was only ok. But maybe it was because they were swamped, we should give it another chance. We went on a regular Wednesday. This restaurant has twelve or so tables, and a bar with maybe ten stools. So, a small place you could say. We waited at the door and after five minutes one of the waitresses brought us to a table. No problem, maybe they're busy with something. What we had forgotten in the six months since we had gone, is that this place is too expensive for what you get. I'm not saying that I'm not willing to spend $11 dollars for my dinner, but I want more than noodles with oil on them. I like fettucini alfredo, but not for 17 bucks. I'm a girl on a budget. We waited for at least 15 minutes without even being asked what we'd like to drink. The waitresses walked past us many times, and we attempted to catch their attention, to no avail. After 20 minutes of waiting for a glass of water we gave up. We went to Cavallo's instead, and had a tasty meal for less money. read more

There are a lot of Italian places in Utica but I haven't had Italian good this good since I moved from NYC. In addition to amazing food, the staff was fast and kind and the chef came out to say hi and talk about the special of the day. I can't recommend this place highly enough. This was the most horrible dining experience I have ever had. Our table waited for one hour before our order was even taken and after an hour and 20 minutes we still didn't even have our salads. Three tables that came after us were mid-entrée while we waited for our salads. After complaining, it did not get any better. We entered the dining room at 5:15, and we didn't leave until almost 8 PM. 45 minutes after we placed an order for gluten-free pasta, the waitress came out and told us there was no gluten free pasta. Ordered take out. One was filet mignon, well done. Well done to the point of a very small portion of steak. The second, a NY strip requested medium. It was probably the worst steak I have every tasted. Gizzly, undercooked, and fatty. Since they charged us a premium price for it we tried to cut out the unedible parts, and put it on a skillet on broil. Probably need to instruct the cook how to prepare steak since he doesn't have a clue. It appears they microwaved and ruined the "baked" potatoe. Bad experience, poor quality, food was terrible. This is a great place to eat I have been here twice (sitting in twice, and take out once). The food has been consistently good and the service pleasant. Not too many places where you can expect the same for quality and taste consistently. My only complaint is when I did takeout they forgot the cake I ordered, granted I should have checked before I left but I was really hungry and when I noticed after I got home I didn't feel like driving back just for a piece of cake. Fantastic Riggies! I had never even heard of delicious Riggies before visiting this area of New York State three years ago. Since then, I have been back to this area many times and have tried Riggies at several Italian restaurants. Without a doubt, Spaghetti Kettle has the BEST Riggies.
