This was the perfect place to come after our long and strenuous hike at the Armstrong Redwoods. My husband and I both had Impossible burgers which we were VERY appreciative of since we don't eat meat! We grabbed a spot on a bench overlooking the river and it was absolutely perfect! We love eating outdoors while on vacation and my husband especially loved seeing all the doggies. The bartender was super nice and friendly, and when I was asking him about the beers, he gave me two free samples so I could decide which one I wanted. Our only issue was with the bathrooms. It was the most vile and disgusting experience I've had in a restroom in a while. "All gender" restrooms are typically sketchy, but this one took the urinal cake. It was dark, dank, had graffiti everywhere, no ventilation, wetness all over the floor, urine in the toilet and all over the toilet, no toilet seat covers, and the scent of barnyard hanging in the air. I almost had a panic attack and could not wait to get out of there. To add insult to injury, there were no paper towels so I had to use my shirt to act as a barrier between my hand and the door handle as I was exiting. When my husband went in a little later, he decided to just hold it until we got back to our AirBnb. This place is too nice to have restrooms worse than port-a potties. I really hope they do something about it because my experience was pretty hard to shake afterwards and I had to block it out of my mind in order to enjoy my meal. read more

Upon arrival we were able to find a table on the patio with shade. (We were a group of 13. ) After getting our drinks we decided to sit down on a bench, however this particular bench had two rounded metal legs. Subsequently when 3 of us sat down on one side, the bench became unbalanced and flipped over. Being in the middle, I wasn't able to clear the table so fell on my head and back. It took a few moments to compose myself. And after several minutes a woman showed up (manager?). She never identified herself but claims that never happened before. She never offered a medical attention but eventually came back and put a block on the bench so it wouldn't flip again. We were there about another hour and she never checked in with me. I do not recommend this place at it had incredibly slow service, clueless staff, and filthy bathrooms. I recommend the vending machines at the local gas station instead. read more

Meh. I came here with some friends, who chose it because it's partly a "dive" bar and you can smoke by the river, which has stair access to the brewery. And you know, it's just another brewery. I can't say anything special about it. Food was ok. Staff was ok. Location is good, but then, so are most places along the river. I wouldn't go back on my own. read more

We kayaked up from Johnson's Beach, and had a wonderful lunch of sandwiches, salads and beer. Life doesn't get much better than that!

We love coming here for dinner when we are in town. It's casual, cool bar with a huge deck that would be fabulous in the summer. I'm not a drinker but if you are they have a fantastic selection of beers. Service is good! We ordered the kinky rooster, which is a blackened chicken breast with bacon and cheese and a delicious aioli. The lettuce on the sandwich was dressed with a vinaigrette which added a fabulous depth of flavor. This sandwich was so yummy!! The fries were also delicious- thick and crispy. Overall had a nice afternoon at this riverside brewery. The best part is the space - they have a very large patio with outdoor seating, and a pleasant view of the river. We came here on our Russian river trip because we heard that you could pull up to the bar off the dock of the river, thought it would be fun to get some food and get back in to the river. There was maybe 4 people there, came up to order with a towel wrapped around my upper body and was refused service because I didn't have a shirt on. Why offer docking service while expecting all patrons to wear shirts. Offered to just pick it up and eat down by the river but employee rudely refused again and offered no compromise, just turning away business. read more

Pretty basic pub grub. I say basic as a good thing. Consistently basic deliciously good pub food. We stop in every time on our way home from the coast. When the weather is good the outside deck and lawn are perfect to stretch and relax. We love the dog vibe. I like the food service set up in the back porch. This brewery is in a great location right next to Russian River. It has an outdoor seating area with a beautiful view of the water and there are even walkways so you can go down and walk in the grass by the river. They served a variety of beers as well as some basic bar foods- most at a reasonable price. My friends and I came here after spending a day at the lake and found it the perfect way to wind down. I don't usually like beer a lot but I really liked the one I got (the Squirrel Tickler) since it was a lighter beer! I found the food to be a bit mediocre and I already wasn't expecting it to be super great. Beer was fine, location is cool. Staff seemed annoyed that they had to respond to people asking them about their drinks. Also "accidentally" added a 0 to the bill and didn't apologize when called out on it. I can't say I'd go back. I understand that things could get busy, but it absolutely wasn't when we went. We saw this place when we kayaked up the river from Johnson's beach and hit it up on our way out of town. Next time I think we will pull off the river in the middle of our trip. Bartenders and alls staff were informative, helpful, and fun. Drinks we had: margarita and squirrel cream ale were both so good! The staff needs more customer service training. Would the owner like to see return customers? Upon being asked to remove my dog by a drunk volunteer 'staff' member, I apologized for her barking at the many yellow jackets, indicating we would be leaving soon as we had nearly finished our meal. This unsatisfied drunk volunteer complained to a senior staff member who asked us to put your dog in the car. Having walked to this tavern, that was impossible. We left with our dogs This situation could have been handled so much better. "I'm sorry can we ask you to move to a different seating where your dog is not bothered by the flies" or "we've had some complaints about your dog barking, while we're dog friendly, it can be disturbing for many of our customers, please go ahead and finish your meal and be aware for next time visiting. These would have been more acceptable responses. Instead, these staff members were rude and ruined our evening. This plus, bartenders do not pay attention. Yes it gets very busy, but looking out over the top of heads to ask who need helps, doesn't bode well for short people. Again very rude. My rating is 1/5. read more

July 2023 Cool little spot to check out after floating the river. Dog friendly with a patio and downstairs green with views of the river. Service was helpful with any questions that we had, much of everything else you fetch on your own. Place was quite busy since it was a nice sunny day in the area. The beers and mixed drinks are decent, nothing to write home about. I had gotten a veggie sando and a pub salad. We also got the brisket sliders to share. Compatriots got the brisket sandwich and the big bastard. The veggie sando was ok. It needed more veggies overall and something to gel it together like an aioli or hummus. The pub salad was actually pretty good as far as ingredients but needed more dressing. The sandwiches were cooked well. They had sauces to use which bridged the gap in some places. My partner went into food coma after the big bastard though. Definitely convenient with a good amount of parking on the street. I ordered the impossible burger which was delicious. Other people in my grouped ordered burgers and wings. And everyone was happy with their orders. I like Stumptown very much. Food and drinks are decent, it has a great outdoor space and is on the river, it's a beautiful spot. I like the bartenders. I'm a local and sometimes show up by myself, so it would be amazing if they had WiFi so if in the event that I didn't feel like socializing or didn't want to watch poker or golf on the small TV's I could just look at my phone. What could improve? The bartenders attitude when asking for a pickup order. I called at 7:58pm to order a patty melt with fries which I was told would be ready in 15 minutes; the girl on the phone even took my name and number since I ordered food. I was visiting from out of town and get there at 8:35pm and ask the blonde girl at the bar for my phone order, which she shows me her phone screen showing it's passed 8:30 and the kitchen is closed. That's cool and irrelevant as I already placed my order at 7:58pm when she took my name and number and told me 15 minutes. She then asked me "what did I tell you on the phone?" She must've confused me with another caller. I was told my patty melt would be ready in 15 minutes, but when I came to pick up the food, I was talked to like a stranger and not a local as my family has owned a house up here in Rio Nido for 30 years. This place would not be missed at all if it goes out of business. Plenty of other food options around. Cheers! Stopped in to this place for the first time after a hike in the Redwoods. We came for a beer and while they did not have my go to "hazy IPA" I settled on a west coast IPA. This place is a bar/eatery with some nice outdoor seating overlooking the Russian river. The beer was good, but the winner of the show were the delicious fish tacos. I would come back just for those. I live in Guerneville, and I can tell you, the bartenders outside are so rude, I thought they were trying to go for the shit-talking New York style concept. Nope. Just rude as hell. Every other bar in Guerneville may be expensive, but at least the bartenders pretend to care that you're a person. On the other hand, there's a guy named John who's always there (working...in the kitchen? Not sure.) who is so down-to-earth and pleasant. I wish he bartended. We had fish tacos and the BBQ brisket meal. They were fine. The IPAs we had were good too. Although we didn't have pizza this time, it was great to see that they have a huge wood fired oven. The pizzas looked delicious. I was slightly apprehensive about coming here based on some of the reviews. I agree the bartender doesn't add to a positive experience, although I don't think she's mean or intentionally unfriendly. She's just abrupt and socially clueless. Although I eat and drink frequently at microbrewery restaurants, I like wine with an evening meal. I was surprised that a restaurant in one of the world's greatest wine regions had a limited selection. Also, I don't mind bussing my own table, but I found the wording of the request to be sexist. We love this place! Huge deck with lawn area below next to river. Great beer and cocktail choices, and good food menu. They just put in a pizza oven, so pizza options too. Dog friendly. For a cool 1/2 day vibe, tent kayaks at Johnson beach and paddle to Stumptown (less than a mile, easy paddling), and grab lunch and a beer, then head back (2-3 hours if you stop to swim).
