Spanish River Grill is a New Smyrna Beach institution -- locally owned and operated since 1999, and it shows in every detail. The food is fabulous: original, thoughtfully imagined, and consistently excellent. Just as memorable is the hospitality. The owner greeted us personally upon arrival, and their servant's heart and genuine care set the tone for a wonderful experience. This is the best of the new day in New Smyrna Beach, while honoring what the old days were made of -- creativity, integrity, and community. Loved by locals and now by newcomers alike, Spanish River Grill never disappoints!

Honest and fair feedback for the management and chef of the Spanish River Grill I typically leave no review and just move on when I have a disappointing experience. I want restaurants to be successful and am cautious about my criticism, but the person managing the front of the house chose to be condescending rather than understanding when I sent an unacceptable dish back. The positives: We were having a great experience prior to our large plate. Had the mussels which were great, tasty crab cakes, and perfectly prepared calamari. The olive oil cake that we were sent home with (comped) was as good as everyone says. The service was also good until the problem and the Sangria was delish. The Negatives: I was so excited to have the Paella since it's been years since I've had a great one. I've had Paella at 7 or 8 restaurants in the past as well as home prepared so I am not new to the experience. What I dished onto my plate had a little bit of everything. Everything was good not great but the chicken thigh meat was like rubber and the shrimp was overcooked by quite a lot. I don't expect perfection with shrimp. When our server checked on us, I informed them of the poor quality and they quickly said to stop eating and another dish can be brought out. I can only speculate that they have had problems with complaints after a dish has already been eating but that's not us. I never ask for anything to be comped if I am unhappy. My wife didn't want to send it back because it would mean a long wait for another but I didn't want it. Our server told us we need to decide fast and left us to discuss. We did not eat any more and after about 10 minutes the food was taken from the table. They did offer again to make something else. We were very disappointed since it's a 45 minute drive for us but these things happen sometime. Can't win them all. We could have just ended things there and I was prepared to pay the 60 dollars for the Paella (was removed) and move on but the manager came out and lectured me about this being the first complaint about the Paella in 3 years and that she tasted it all and that it was fine. Of the thousands of restaurants I've been to in my life, this was a first. Nobody likes it when they are implicated as a liar. What was a disappointing experience turned into an upsetting one. I hope she was just having a bad day because treating customers that way is not a recipe for success. I like to give businesses a second chance because everyone makes mistakes, and we had planned to meet some friends that live closer to NSB, but I can't imagine that I will now because of that. Perhaps they wouldn't want me back since I am the only person to ever complain about the Paella. Did I insult the chef by doing that?

Spanish River Grille in New Smyrna Beach is a cozy spot with just the right ambiance, casual but still feels special. The chef started us off with roasted chickpeas, which were simple but so addictive we couldn't stop snacking on them. For tapas, we tried the crispy calamari. The calamari was tender, the coating light and crunchy, and the smoked pepper aioli with hot cherry peppers really made the dish pop. For our main, we shared the paella, and wow...It's a huge portion, easily enough for four. Packed with shrimp, mussels, calamari, chicken, and chorizo, every bite was full of flavor. It's the kind of dish you dig into and immediately know you'll be talking about later. Spanish River Grille has that balance of great food and comfortable atmosphere that makes you want to come back. Next time we'll definitely be exploring more of the tapas menu.

Tapas, a very happy hour, and flavor--yes, please. Spanish River Grill sits along US 1, just south of New Smyrna Beach's famed Canal Street. They offer inside or outside dining in a cozy Mediterranean styled setting. We decided to take advantage of their Happy Hour--(4:30-6, Wednesday-Saturday and all day on Sunday). Upon entering, we were greeted warmly by the host, server, and bartender. Our server, Katie, provided excellent descriptions of the specials and guided us through our choices. On this visit we tried the olives, bacon wrapped dates, mushrooms, swordfish, and mussels. The simplicity of the dishes allowed the food to sing. From the olives to the mussels our tastebuds were doing the happy dance. Basque cheesecake at the end was truly the happy ending to our happy hour feast. All the dishes were awesome, but if you only had to choose one, I'd say go for the mussels--but the mushrooms were a savory, "meaty" second. The sangria is some of the best I've ever had--and I often get asked for my personal sangria recipe. Spanish River Grill is a gem in New Smyrna Beach. Give it a try when your tastebuds get tired of seafood platters and bar fare. It's my new favorite in NSB.

I was looking for a special place to celebrate my friend's birthday. I read lots of reviews before choosing the place. Well, it didn't disappoint me. We ordered 9 tapas- wild mushrooms, patatas, calamari, baked oysters, swordfish, salads, artichokes. Everything tasted so good and fresh. Our service was superb and extremely attentive. Giordana, a bartender/mixologist, made me the best Hugo Spritz. Our birthday girl was happy with my choice. We will be definitely back. I do recommend to make a reservation as it is a small place and you might miss it. The atmosphere is also quite spectacular. I enjoyed watching the team working together. Chef Henry seemed not only a great chef but an awesome manager.

Make a reservation! Cute and tiny. Service was excellent. I was expecting a Spanish experience, but it was more of an Americanized Spanish-influence experience. Still enjoyed it. We ordered house olives, bread with tomatoes, grilled artichoke, fried calamari, patatas bravas, gambas, paella, and cheesecake. Roasted chickpeas were served as free app and were delicious. For the paella, the flavor was great but the mussels were a bit fishy, the chicken was dry, the chorizo was amazing, rice was mostly cooked, and the squid and shrimp were nice. The biggest standout for me was the bartender and the Spanish wine selection. We tried the Albariño, verdejo, and Tempranillo. My kids fought over the cheesecake. Our bill with tip was almost $300 for 4 people, so bring your wallet.

Loved the walk up and interior. This is relaxed and comfortable elegance. Menu is varied and execution is excellent. Must try the octopus and whipped feta (with setas). Sangria is fantastic!! Order more than you tho k you want!! Our service was great. This is a GEM!!

located in new Smyrna on US1. It wouldn't be a place. I would normally stop, but I'm so glad I did. It looks like you're sitting outside, but you're actually inside so get the nice air conditioning with all the beautiful outdoor dripped lights and a casual dress atmosphere with homemade family sangria appetizers and tapas that were sharing with friends and family the service is amazing. It's definitely worth a stop by either for the bar or the restaurant!

Every time I am in town I eat here at least 2 times, if not more. Amazing space, positive and happy employees, amazing service. My most recent visit was 5/24/26. Our server was Kaley and what a doll! On her game the entire time we were dining. We had great conversations with her and she was professional and attentive. She recognized us from prior visits and acknowledged that, which is a sign of true professionalism. The food is always enjoyable. I had a lobster roll on this day and it was great. Will always come here while in New Smyrna Beach. As a matter of fact, my daughter will be celebrating a huge life moment here at the end of June, her choice. It's going to be epic and another fabulous time will be had by all. Cannot wait!!!

We sat at the outdoor bar ordered some happy hour drinks which they offer $5 margaritas and $6 house wines all day, every day. Nick was extremely tentative and even provided us with waters without us having to request it. The $6 wine pours come in a large sized glass and the size pour was decent! Once seated at our table we were served by Bri and she made some good recommendations. For apps we had the Cuban candy as an app and it was a huge hit at our table. On Thursdays they do a "prime rib special" which isn't really a special as far as pricing instead it is more so a special that is offered only on Thursdays for $44. 2 people from my party ordered it and they were satisfied. I ordered the chimichurri chicken sandwich which is a new menu item. The portion size of the chicken was good, however, the chimichurri / sauce seemed to lack. Also I wasn't a huge fan of their house sweet potato chips, they weren't bad, they were just okay, however, I would opt to have French fries next time. As far as ambiance, the inside is quite small which I got worried about sound and talking amongst my party but that wasn't an issue. They don't seem to take reservations unless your party is of 6 or more.

Everything was good, but the call out by far, was the braised oxtail. We ordered this entree as an appetizer for all of us to share and it comes on top of a cheesy arepa. We were practically fighting over it LOL. For dinner, my date and I shared the burger and rabbit special. Both were very solid picks. I thought I was eating on south beach for a moment. Flavors were intense, but not overpowering & it all complemented one another. If you are there make sure you try this appetizer. The bread for the Crustini was fresh not overly hard or stale. The main course I had was perfect. I had the steak au poivre. The sear on the meat was spot on and the sauce was not overly peppery.
